This convention tours the country every year, bringing along some of the biggest names in horror! If you're unfamiliar with him, here's a little blurb I wrote.

Rock and Roll will never die. But in the late 1970's it came pretty damn close. With the popularization of the disco craze, and the rise of "AM Rock," it seemed the genre was doomed. Rock, it seemed had lost it's edge. Rising out of London, a new sound came about. Raw, loud, angry, it was a kick in the teeth to the mellow watery music in the mainstream. Punk was born, rock's new phoenix began to emerge.

Enter the Americans; Ramones, Misfits, and arguably the best band to represent sex drugs, and Rock and Fuckin' Roll, THE CRAMPS. A mix of surf, punk, and blues, it sounded like someone took Dick Dale, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and threw them in a blender, and poured the concoction in a glass smeared with 1950's horror, and threw it in your face.

The Cramps paved the way for so many sub-genres of music, I couldn't possibly name them all. Without them, there would be no Tiger Army. There would be no Horror Pops. There would be no Nekromantix. They have been imitated, mimicked, and plagiarized, but never matched. to this day, the Cramps sound is as fresh as ever, and continues to shake asses all over the world.

I was talking to Brian (my business partner and great friend) about putting a Toys for Tots collection bin in the store this year, and I decided that that's where the majority of my holiday spending is going this year. We haven't settled the details of the bin yet, but it is a great cause. I will be making CDs for my loved ones, and I will be buying toys to donate with any extra cash I have.

I encourage all of you to donate what you can. If not to Toys for tots, to someone else. Start your own donation program. Everybody's hurting right now, thanks to the economy, true. But if you can read this, you're not doing as bad as a LOT of folks.

Believe what you wish to believe about Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah. Give for the spirit of giving and for the sake of helping others. Trust me, its a nice feeling.

So, as we all know, I have been taking a lot of pictures lately. Most of which have been either women or bugs. I have almost no men in my portfolio. as a matter of fact I think there are only two, if you count me. I suppose this is due to a lot of things, but to name a few:

-I like women.

-Most of my friends are women, and have been all my life.

-I started with a Pin-Up theme.

-Everybody likes a beautiful girl, including the straight women and gay men in my life.

I took a lot of pictures of myself in the beginning, for lack of another model. As well for not wanting to subject anyone else to my fumbling with and exploration of this new medium. As I learned, and took on the challenge of shooting others, I found that I like shooting nude, and sometimes erotic images.

Now some might say, "Well, anything to get a girl naked, right?" Turns out this is not necessarily the case. But, as it turns out my natural attraction to the opposite sex is an aid, both in concepts and in approaching models about shooting things of this nature. It can also be said, I suppose, that women are typically more comfortable being completely naked. Not to say women don't have body issues, or horrible stereotypes to compare with, but most men are under the impression that their penises could always be larger, and as it is generally the center of their universe, rarely put it out on the internet for all to see, unless they're built like a porn star, and hard as a rock.

I'm pretty damn comfortable naked. And I have been thinking about putting nude images of me out there for a long time. But until now, I have not. Why? Well, a few reasons, I suppose; my body is hardly the Olympian ideal. A little thin, a little twisted. But, I accept it, and it has not been a sore subject for may many years now. The other reason is perhaps one of the most common, "What would my family say?" Haha, to be honest, I have no idea. They're all so different ,I'm sure they will all react in their own way. Granted, in the this particular image my face is not showing, but with a body as recognizable as mine, it hardly matters. The bottom line is, they won't disown me, even if they don't understand it. This type of thing has been going on all my life. Perhaps because they understand that when I'm inspired, I have to create. Because I want to, because I have to. You can see it here [link]

I was searching for a concept for a ludicrous painting, for a birthday gift. This was the birth of the Hippopotacornasusamus. Part hippopotamus, part unicorn, and part flying horse (not a bird).

Here's the contest:

Write an origin for the Hippopotacornasusamus, using the picture and information above. Be as creative or derivative as you like. The winner will have their story posted on dA, and eventually on VonFrankenstein.com, when the site launches. The winner will also receive their choice of a print of the painting, or a t-shirt, bearing the Hippopotacornasusamus.

I'm planning photo shoot with a female model dressed as Alice Cooper. To authenticate it, I need a large python.

Obviously, this needs to be a very docile, friendly animal, that does not spook easily. (awkward poses, camera flashes) As the owner of the snake, you will be present for the duration of the shoot.

I can't afford much in the way of compensation, but I can offer a print of the final product. If something else appeals to you let me know.

Also, I have not settled on a model for this project yet, so if you're interested in that, let me know. Preferably someone of a fairly small frame, so as to mimic Alice.

So photography for me has really tuned into a strong and excited beast, hungry for life.

(This is good)

I have been made to realize, however, that if I am not careful, it will become a burden, and and eventually, I may fall victim to boring, typical imagery, and be destroyed by my own creation, just as my namesake.

My problem has been this: I'm so excited to shoot, that I shoot anyone willing to pose, and at times bow to the demands of my models. Thus, compromising my vision. Don't misunderstand, ALL my models have been understanding, kind, and cooperative. I am very happy with the results, and am very grateful. But, not everyone wants to shoot what I want. This is why I love to paint! The monsters in my portraits don't tend to argue much.

So what does this all mean? It means, I need to be true to my visions. It means I must not compromise to the point of killing the original concept. It turns out I like very artistic images. I also like shooting nudes. A good friend asked recently, "Do they all have to be nude?"
No, but I do need to be passionate about my work, and for some reason, I am passionate about this.

Funny, nobody bats an eye at the fact that all I paint is monsters.

Over the years, I've seen a lot of artists painting other peoples paintings. I don't quite understand this.

For the most part, we all have heroes, and there can be no art without influence. as an example, if you're a big Andy Warhol fan, and you do a portrait of Cameron Diaz in a style reminiscent of his, that's ok with me. But if you paint a picture of Marilyn Monroe, that is an obvious copy of Warhol's Marilyn, that's different. Especially if there's no mention of Andy in your description.

Even if you paint a picture based on a famous photograph, you're still translating, and creating, due to the change in medium alone. When I was a kid, we used to go to a wax museum, where they took famous paintings, and recreated them in three dimensions. To me this is not only acceptable but extraordinary.

It is true that I mostly see this in "new" or obviously inexperienced artists, so hopefully this is something they will grow out of.

Hello all.

I am currently working on a lot of art projects, and I'm bogged down, but it's pretty cool!

For those who are not so artistic, art is like food; some times your body needs some particular food, and you crave it like crazy until your body is satiated.

Well, right now, my creative innards are craving human form. My recent Monster Portrait series is going to be put away for a while. I love it, and I'll do one or two more, then I'm moving on to something else, for a while, anyway.

So that brings me to this;

My first project is one involving a female model, of a fairly proportionate shape. the face and body of this model are to fit a very particular idea in my head. Details on this project later.

However I am also looking for ANYONE who wold like to pose for me. Male, female, shemale (PLEASE), fat, thin, muscular, flabby, tight like a tiger...the more eclectic a group the better.

I can't offer much, coffee, beer, lunch, or just pie. You will also receive a print of the finished work, and my eternal gratitude.

Hell was awesome last night. I met a lot more people than usual, but then, I drank more than usual as well. ;})

For those that don't know Natalie Addams[link] had a launch party and photo shoot at the club for her new site[link]

It was a pretty big night, I saw Miss Pixie[link] Scar[link] and Porn star extrordinare, Tony Tedesci.

Made some great contacts with fellow artists, photographers, models, and one amazing dominatrix.

On top of all this, I sold two paintings. So I bid a bitter-sweet good-bye to my Bride to Be and my beloved Tortured Soul.

Everybody had a blast, hope to see you all at the next one!

I will be one of the featured artists at Club Hell, in Hollywood this month. The club is a unique mix of Dance Club, Art Show, Live BSDM performance, and Body Suspension. I have heard it's an amazing place.
