So I got up at the crack of dawn, sat in LA rush hour traffic for 2 hours, and arrived at Disney Animation Studios in Burbank.  Just two days ago I learned they were having "Disney Inspire Days" which is basically an open house to meet with students and graduates.  So I scrambled to get all my portfolio stuff together and barely made it on time.

Day 5

So Jarod, Dino and I get up super early to get the Magic Kingdom.  The good part was that there was hardly anybody there so early in the morning.  The bad part was it was freakishly cold.

How cold?

Try 32 freaking degrees!!!!  What the hell, Florida?  WHAT THE HELL?!

I've only been the (literally) freezing cold a few times in my life.  I was NOT prepared for this weather.  It was so cold I didn't even want to walk out on Main Street, I just wanted to stay in the shops.  I couldn't take my hands out of pockets because they HURT, it was so cold.

Everything in MK is just so BIG and SPREAD OUT.

Day 1

Ok so!  My awesome mom gets up with me at 4am, we leave the house by 5am and we get to LAX right at 6.  There I waited for a few minutes and the three other members of my party show up.  We get through bag check and security all in a breeze, and we get our standby tickets thankfully with no troubles.  Caleb, one of our group members, works for Southwest Airlines so he got a tickets for free.  Sweet.

I'm still working for the D*sneyland Resort, but I have completely switched parks.  I'm now working as a Sketch Artist at the Off the Page gift shop in California Adventure.  It's basically my job to sit at an animation desk and draw D*sney characters all day for guests.  Hey, this works out perfectly for me. :D

Well Pixie Hollow is open at the park, and so far it's been pretty popular.  I personally love the design of it and while I do miss Ariel, I think this change is for the better.  The creative team did a damn good job on this place, and I have photos to share.

Very clever placement here - The entrance of the Hollow is placed near of the Matterhorn, giving it a forced perspective look and the illusion that you are shrinking down to fairy size.

I know earlier there was talk about Jack and Sally staying all the way until Christmas, and trust me, these two have been VERY popular out in the park.  So why did they decide to cut them?  Well it's mostly due to budget reasons, D*sney has been cutting a lot of characters lately.

The thing is, I know a bunch of you guys were hoping to see Jack and Sally and were even planning trips to the park this holiday season to meet them.  The good news is there is something you can do to help.

I was so freaking excited to see these two out by Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Jack was the most interesting to see.  From all the photos online already, people have said his head looks odd.  But once you meet him in person, you completely forget about that.  I actually love the design because of the simple fact that he can talk.  He just wouldn't be Jack if he was a mute character.

Sally was adorable.
