I guess there will be a few spoilers.

I got to see New Moon this afternoon with a couple of diehard fans (the original fans, not the 13-year-olds that slobber all over it nowadays because they think the actors are pretty) , and it was wonderful. Chris Weitz did an excellent job, the cast was great, the story stuck closer to the book than Twilight ever dreamed of, the action/CGI was amazing, the script was well-written, all the characters got their screentime, etc, etc. It was full of awesomesauce.

There were lots of things I loved about this movie, and my negative list is very, very short. 1.) Not enough Cullens (because they all LEAVE, gah!), but they all ROCKED every line they had. Nikki Reed blew me away as Rosalie at the end...and you don't know how much I just WANT ALICE TO BE MY FRIEND. 2.) Edward was too depressed...his unhappiness kinda creeped me out a little. I know this is a sad movie, but it was hard to fangirl over him when he was SO EMO. Just... a little happier, Edward. Just a bit. And keep your shirt on because you can't compare with Jacob shirtless. 3.) A lot of slow-mo. I feel like the director may have overused it a tiny bit. I mean, it's not bad and I didn't find it TOO distracting in the more important parts. I mean, all the running scenes, the Jasper party, the fight at the end (THE FIGHT AT THE END AHHH MATRIX-ESQUE BUT IT WAS BEE-YOO-TEE-FUL!) we SO well-done, but I just wouldn't have used slo-mo so often. Ah well. Everything else was pretty spot-on. I can't get over how amazing the wolves looked. I never had to cringe over the effects in this movie like I did in the first one. AND NO SPIDER MONKEYS CLIMBING TREES YES!!

And Taylor Lautner's Jacob was really wonderful. He did a great job. Taylor and Kristen's on-screen chemistry was so many times better than Kristen and Rob's... I've almost turned Team Jacob.

And I love that the movie is already breaking box office records. Highest opening day ever, all that jazz. I think it just proves that women can like things, too, and it doesn't matter what your opinion of Twilight is--you can't ignore it. I can't wait to let my boyfriend know if he doesn't already... Dark Knight is his favorite movie and its records just got slightly OWNED by my favorite book series.

I really need to see it again because I swear I didn't pay attention to some stuff the first time, and I had to pee SO BADLY in the middle of the movie so even though I rushed, I MISSED THE FIRST FUR-SPLOSION. Which was sad. But I plan on seeing NM again with my mom next week... I'm just so happy that the story was exactly like the book.

How awesome was the very beginning and ending of the movie, though? The title sequence was AMAZING and that last line...? Wow.

Mmkay, that's my thoughts on the movie... what did you all think?

Insanity abounds currently... mostly due to college applications and my school's senior project. I was sick last week with para-influenza (not swine flu but close.) and therefore had quite a bit of catching up to do. Thankfully after this weekend - and making up a Spanish exam - I should be all caught up and be able to focus more on college. Which is stressful. GAH. I'm applying to 9 schools so there's a lot left to do before deadlines in December and January... wish me luck!

translator during wartime, guardian of two young children, Kyla and Yoey

Pretty quiet, until the war began. Then she lost her parents and her brother went missing...

6. Does he/she have a significant other?
she's not aware of his existence yet, but I've created him. He's there.

7. What is his/her favorite food?
Yava beans dipped in cocoa powder! (they're a little like espresso beans only sweeter, dipped in chocolate yumminess.)

8. Does your character drink, smoke, or do drugs?
she's tried drinking and doesn't like it... smoking doesn't exist in her country and she believes that drugs are the most foolish thing anyone could ever do.

9. What are your character's hobbies?
She loves to run (especially when she's not running away from anyone), play games with the younglings, and work in the medicine tent at the army base.

10. What is your character's favorite movie?
She hasn't ever seen a movie. But she'd probably enjoy V for Vendetta like I do.

Irina has incredible nightvision, bordering on inhuman. She has sensitive hearing (although it sometimes fails her when she needs it most). And if she's in a fix, you should ALWAYS ask her to cook for you. She does her best cooking when she's stressed.

12. Does your character have a favorite band?
She enjoys a lot of traditional singing, but I think she's only ever heard one group over the stereo, and that is Libera, the acapella boys choir.

13. Is there anything you don't know about your character?
haha, I like :devxxxKimiko3xxx:'s answer: "There's something wrong with this question."

14. Is he/she an idealist or a realist?
She's pretty down to earth, actually.

15. Does he/she collect anything?
She doesn't at the moment because she has to travel light, but if she did she'd collect stones.

16. Who is his/her best friend?
Vinni and Korin

17. Does your character have any pets?
No, but she loves animals in general.

18. Does he/she speak any different languages?
Several. That's why she's a translator!! She speaks English and Spanish, but also Vietnamese and several tribe languages that I can't speak.

Something fruity, probably. Or a dark, smooth espresso.

20. Any special talents?
Nightvision. And she has a keen talent for predicting future events, even though she isn't sure they'll happen or not. It's not magical or anything...she's just intuitive.

1. What led you to write?
I've always had stories in my head, since I learned to string sentences together pretty much. And then I learned that you could write it all down in things called books. STORIES. ARE. AWESOME.

2. When did you start writing?
Oh gosh...I remember I started storytelling when I was two (my mom recorded me telling a story about a baby horse that got separated from its mommy, and he had to cross the train tracks before the train got there or he would be trapped FOREVER!!!...it was epic!). Not sure when I started writing though...by second grade definitely.

3. What does writing represent in your life?
It’s a part that I wish was bigger... I love thinking of new ideas and lines, and I always try to get better at it, but I never have the time that I’d like.

4. Are you happy with your current style?
Not entirely. My poetry style yes, but my fiction writing I’m rarely happy with...

5. Do you do editing?
Hehehe, I go back over practically every paragraph right after I write it. It’s baaaaad. Also, I think it's much easier to edit when the story has just been started, because the characters and events aren't quite set in your mind as much. After a while, you feel like the story HAS to be a certain way, even if that way doesn't work.

6. Do you read about writing (creative writing books, grammar books...)?
A little...

7. Favorite genre?
I mostly read Young Adult because there are some awesome books in that genre. I love fantasy and romance and any blend of the two. Historical fiction's nice, too.

8. Favorite author(s)?

Jane Austen, Stephenie Meyer, Kristin Cashore, Allison Goodman, James Patterson

9. Favorite book?
Eeeeek, you had to ask. Probably The Host by Stephenie Meyer, or Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, or The Hunger Games by Allison Goodman...or Skybreaker by Kenneth Oppel. Or Graceling...or the Maximum Ride series, or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (I’ve never cried so hard reading a book in my whole life!). OHOHOH!!! And Vicki’s book Into the Night! And Dark Night tooooo!

10. What do you prefer to write?
I like to write stuff that's mostly realistic, but with a twist. And I loooove doing science fiction/fantasy, because the possibilities are endless!

11. Is there anything you can't write??
Yeah, I stink at writing internal conflict. I find it really hard to stretch out thought processes... but I also can’t summarize either, so I’m just in a fix.

12. What is the weirdest thing you have ever written?
Hmm. Probably that poem about sunglasses.

13. Choose a topic: love, death, friendship. Now write a couple of lines about it.
(okay, I didn't come up with this on my own, but it was soooo good I had to share it! I believe it was ~sunni-sideup) Friendship should be effortless. Swinging from a swingset, eating ice cream, wind and sea and sun in your hair. Friendship should be constant. When the happy, giddy, bubbly feeling of e f f o r t l e s s n e s s goes away, when you fall off the swing, when the ice cream melts over your fingers, when the sand burns your toes, you should still have your friends. Friends are not just bodies to share in your happiness.

14. Do you think you have influences from any professional writer? if so, which ones?
Lots. Even ones I don’t like have an influence, because then I’ll just think “okay, DON’T do that.” It works nicely.

15. Worst book you have read so far?
Worst book? Daaaaang. Well, I have to say I hatedhatedhated Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Though Huckleberry Finn is probably worse. *gags*

16. Why is it so bad, in your opinion?
In GE, the long, drawn-out, excruciatingly painful sentences that never seem to end, with the over-exaggerated and innately boring descriptions, the endless parade of happy commas, and fourteen hundred and seventy-eight conjunctions in each paragraph. See, even that sentence was hard, and Dickens did it like, 50,000 more times. And Huck Finn was just stupid. The characters made horrible choices and the racism and language was just so rampant and so foul that it made me sick.

A big hug and a HUGE thank-you to `Lilyas, for I am now a subscriber to dA, something I'd hoped for and something I never thought would happen. Just two days ago, I logged on to deviantArt to find 60 more pageviews than normal and two really sweet comments by two other deviants, congratulating me on winning Lilyas's six-month subscription! It was a short little contest where 208 deviants submitted their names, and Lily put all names in a randomizer, and the deviant at the top of the list would win. This NEVER happens to me, but I was lucky!

And I know that it was completely by chance, I am so thankful to Lily for this. She's one of my favorite artists here on dA, in addition to being one of the nicest and most caring ones as well, even though she's listed as one of the Top Deviants here. And I'm completely honored that she was willing to make another artist's Christmas, even if it was completely random who was chosen.

But Thanksgiving break is beginning, and I am not wanting to go to sleep.

1. What does your DeviantArt name mean and why did you join this site?
Well, Burn Out Bright is one of my favorite songs from my favorite band of all time, Switchfoot. And it was the one that no one on dA had taken yet. I joined mainly because of the photography at the time, but now also for digital art and traditional paintings.

2. What fandom were you obsessed with when you joined and what are you into now?
Oh boy...still obsessed with most of them, I bet. I’m still a huge Disney and Lord of the Rings fan, but Twilight the most. I personally take credit for getting Twilight off the shelves and into people’s minds. In New York, at least.

3. How many watchers do you have now?
31! What a lovely number...I love you all.

4. What are you favorite non-anime TV shows?
House, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition...and I would say Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I think that’s American anime.

Wings, and people in general...it takes me forever to be happy with a piece. Reference photos help a LOT with the drawing part...but I photography I like so much better!

1. My three friends and I get the most hyper by drinking Canadian Welch’s Grape Juice. No joke.
2. Someday when I have children, they are never going to forgive me for the names I give them. Since right now my favorites are Aderyn, Elena, Dawn, Alcarin, Xaria, Isabella, Ä°verin, Genesis, and Jaydan for girls, and Edward Anthony, Laik, Lucas, Riley, and Shepard for boys.

oh my GOSH, where to start? I love Chapter 20 of Eclipse when Edward proposes...and I can't tell you how many times I've read the meadow scene in Twilight. I also reeeally like their "alone time" in chapter 8 of Eclipse. Not that I have it memorized or anything.

5. How long have you been following couple #6? (Matt and Kate)
Wow...a while now! I read Airborn a couple of years ago, and I really liked the pairing then too.

6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop caring? (Bobby and Loor)
Well...Loor’s just so....Loor. Distant and cold. And Bobby just doesn’t have the guts yet to make a move...maybe something will happen in the new book (which I haven't read) and I'll be a Bobby-Loor shipper again...

7. Which ship do you prefer--#2 or #4? (Max and Fang or Harry and Ginny)
DEFINITELY Max and Fang. They're just so...perfect, but their romance is so difficult because of Max leading the five others, and Fang is her right hand man...it's just so sweet. I'm not sure why they top Harry and Ginny though....maybe cuz Ginny's less of a heroine to me than Max.

8. You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12. (Bella and Jacob or Snape and Hermione)
Ugh. Both of them I reeeally don't like...though if I'm being honest...Snape and Hermione because it's just so CREEPY. I may despise Jake with a vengeance, but at least he's the right AGE for Bella. And he washes his hair.

Boy, I was hoping they wouldn't ask this one! I'm not sure. Kyo just seems really angsty, but Tohru is the only one who can make him happy...that's just intriguing. And since it's already happening, I guess there was some chemistry between them, right?

So WOW. I convinced my dad to take me to Barnes and Noble to just grab a copy of the special edition of Eclipse and READ. My friend had already read it and told me a little, but WOW. Can Stephenie get any more FRUSTRATING??? i honestly don't think I can MAKE it two more months! I won't say too much here, since I don't really know who reads my journal updates and I might be attacked in my sleep if I give away anything.

The cover art is really intriguing...who's the pawn, and who ends up winning the game? I will cry my eyes out if Edward loses in the end. But honestly....I can't imagine Stephenie would do that. She has always said that she had Twilight all planned, with the ending and everything from the beginning...she never thought that Jake would become so...there. That has to mean that Edward is with Bella in the end, doesn't it?? PLEASE??!?!?!

I've also heard some cool theories about the title too...Breaking Dawn either be Jacob coming into his own, since from the beginning he has been Bella's "sun" and he'll come and steal her from Edward (tear!!). Or could "Breaking Dawn" be something that hurts Jake even more than before, like breaking his spirit? Even MORE than in Eclipse doesn't seem possible...but if I've learned anything from my three years being obsessed with the Twilight Saga, it's that Steph knows what she's doing. She's got us all ready to break into her publishing company to find out what happens, doesn't she?

AND THE THING!! THE POOR THING!!! I'll miss that red monster truck of Bella's...I was actually really sad when I read that! I always loved that truck...but I almost wonder whether or not Edward sabotaged it and has it waiting for her after she's been bitten...I hope so, I'm not ready to say goodbye to The Thing...

They were doing one of the commercials for Idol Gives Back (which I'm so psyched for now...I absolutely LOVED IT last year.) and something Simon said really hit me. He said, "I had absolutely no idea that places like this existed. It's just...wrong." For one thing, to have Simon actually show feeling was pretty crazy in itself (I love Simon) but he's so right, and with all the footage of the insanity of life over there... What have we, the "privileged", done any differently from the youth in Africa than be born on the west side of the world? What makes them, the poverished but strong, deserve any of the horrors and hardships they go through, when we get angry when we can't go on that vacation we've always wanted, or get our cells taken away? Why must the strong in spirit who never take anything for granted, be put through this??

I really hope God has a good reason. I'd love to know...I am speechless for them all right now. They have more inner strength in their pinky finger than most Americans...

that was my musing for the day...think about it. Go watch Idol tomorrow and, at risk of sounding cliched, help make a difference!
