Wytheria is intentionally not setup like a traditional petsite. We did not reference petsites when creating it. We referenced RPGs for consoles and used them for inspiration. Then translated them to the online/browser based game. We don't want to call ourselves a petsite (a lot of serious gamers are turned off by that) but we have all the features required to qualify as one and so we still advertise a bit on vps related forums.

That having been said here are some questions that you'll probably ask if you are coming from a traditional petsite:


Where are main shops?
We don't have "main shops" Shops are located all over the island. You'll have to explore to find out where all the shops are. You can, however, find a lot of shops in the city.

Where is the arcade and can I get money there?
We call our "arcade" the "entertainment centre" and it is easilly findable via a link on the side bar. There is also a link to it, the art gallery, and the notice board above the forums at all times. Some games do give you money, but, we have intentionally made money making a challenge. There are no get rich quick schemes here. You may notice there are not alot of games in the entertainment center. This is because most of the games are hidden throughout the world much like minigames in an RPG. j

How do I up my pets' stats?
Pets do have stats that are upgradeable by items. But we focus on the human players more than their companions. You can train yourself and battle in the woods. We are working on a script to call pets into battle much like a summons creature in popular RPG games.

I can't customize my profile! What's up with that?
You can a little bit. We wanted the profiles to tell us about the "character" you are playing and not so much about you personally (unless you are playing yourself). We don't have any custom html becuase this isn't myspace. We want you to be "in character" and follow the storyline. Although we have no problem with socializing, obviously, as we have plenty of boards for you to do so on and you by no means have to stay in character. But if youwant to do custom html stuff you should make yourself a website We do, however, allow you to describe your character, pick your mood, pic your avatar, and we display your stats for everyone to see.

Customizing your pets look and colors:
We do have color changing items called cloaks because they were fervently asked for. More looks will be coming in the future.

Finally!!! My sister and I have worked very hard doing all the art and coding on our own for our new virtual adventure game. It will open on February 1st this year (about 9 days). I am working hard on developing a fantasy game with my sister. It's called Mystic Island (www.mystic-island.com). We hired the initial coding for it to be done but most of the neat stuff was done by my sister (php) She's also an artist and has a gallery here:

I do 95% of the art for the site. It's a lot of work so sometimes updates take time. But I can't ask artists to work for free and I'm not paying them... yet. I will be hiring artists to do large commissions for me in the future... because I've seen some artists with styles I like and I can't do all the work alone. This will mostly consist of items but I might buy some stock art of our pets as well.

The game is going to be a sort of fantasy RPG. But it's not going to have any anime in it. That's getting so so old and over popular. (There may be some sparkly eyes every once in a while becuase I can't help it).

You can adopt virtual pets, but that's not the point of the game. We've still got loads and loads of developing to do on it, but it's coming along real nice. We aren't going to do any advertising for it until I'm satisfied that we have a lot to offer, though.

A 60 second full color animated trailer is in progress for it. (That's also being done entirely by me so far). It's been a lot of work but I'm feeing really rewarded. When it is done I will put it up here for critique.

To everyone who gives me a really good detailed, indepth review of this deviation... i will give you a free piece of art. Any character you want. It won't be a many hour piece or anything but it will be in my usual style and it will be quality. I really need help on this as I want the staff and players to be happy with what they get.

So far people have not like dthe pets and I'm not sure why. Number one complaint is they didn't look enough like the origioanl pets. Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't think some of their origioanl pets were all that appealing and it semed the administrator agreed (saying to me that some of the pets were getting bad ratings)

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've really done any gallery update. This is because I'm working on several big projects:

"Shockini Nation" (comic for shocker toys)

"Mystic-Island" The pet site that my sister and I are building. So far we have over 25 pets & double that number of animated imagemaps. The site will be beta tested for a month or two before it is officially opened.

"Shockini Custom Primer" A book for Shcoker Toys with enough info to get people started with their new Shockini Action Figures. I'm also doing several pages of concept art for their new line of animal action figures.

Everything else - school, vacation, and an interview by Kyra Kyles (She's the awesome woman who writes the "Going Public" column that appears in the RedEye. (Chicago newspaper that is like a subunit of the Tribune). She wants to talk about "L" inspired art.

I've also officially joined the Orca Club and the Unico Fan club. More art of those two things will be coming shortly.

Turns out they ripped off hundreds of peopel and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. interesting. But I've actualy got a list of quite litterally 50 names... likely more I havn't counted... of peopel they ripped off. Why on Earth is the site still in business and how do people get away with scams like that? They just take paypal payments for their 'cds' and never ship them. And you can nag until you die... but you won't get a response. They're good... because they know you only have 41 days to file a complaint with paypal.. and they make you wait a few weeks for shipping. Hmm.. I say... Hmmm. What a rip.

Anyhow www.mystic-island is finally making progress. You can't log in yet because we're waiting for authorization but it's going pretty well.

1.) My computer died a month or so ago. So I'm using this Windows98 machine with a 6gb hard drive and a whopping 64MB ram. Shoot me.

2.) I got a notice from the real estate company claiming i'm 4 months behind on Rent. They want to kick us out on friday. This, of course, isn't true and I've never ever been threatened witha court date before. I'm a good law abiding citizen and I'm not 4 months behind on my rent. Thankfully I can prove this.

Well my list of goods outweighs my list of bads... but number 2... I'd say it's a pretty big one since it may involve court and getting kicked outo f Chicago. Let me tell ya I didn't come to the city to have them play "Let's kick the country grils around" oh no. Won't have it. SOOOO if you don't see me it's because I killed some Chicagoan for trying to scam us and I'm in prison. I appologize in advance.

I never update when I have something posative.. I have to work on that. I guess it's cool that Pet Nebula wants me to re-draw all the pets on thier site and maybe that will get my art more noticed? That'd be cool. Oh and our idea was chosen for further development in "Characterization" class. We have a team of 5 who are developing characters, sets, and accessories for a series idea my sister and I came up with. It's really been a neat expirience to work in a team and I'm more than happy with how things are coming along.

When it comes to drawing tasteful nudes why on earth is it like 10 to one maybe greater... when comparing female to male? I guess what I'm trying to say is why does everyone draw nude females over guys? (Oh and this is not talking about porn. I wouldn't know about that because I don't ever ever watch or look at it. If you do don't take that last comment personally I just don't think it's appropriate) Doesn't it seem kind of wrong to you? It works that way in movies too. It's okay to show topless females but rarely will they show nude guys. I'm not saying I want to see them because I don't. I'm just curious... what is this saying? I thought it might be just because it's mostly guys who draw nudes so naturally they draw females. However I've noticed tons of females draw them as well and guess what? It's chicks they draw. I'm not saying there should be more, I'm not judging anybody... but I don't get it? I know that some do draw guys but it's just very rare... Anyways... that's my rant because today as I was browsign I've seen 3 mostly undressed females in the last 15 minutes and I'm starting to feel like a peice of meat here.
