Happy Birthday DeviantART!

dAmn..what a year it's been. This year has seen so much change on DeviantART..most for the good, some for the worst dA exploded this year with revamped profile pages that are much more customizable, revamped portfolio system, collections, critiques and something that I'm personally excited about and can't wait to be released: Groups!

When are those going beta?!?

This was a really good year for me on DeviantART. I branched out into a lot of new Galleries on dA and really came to love the DeviantART Related Gallery. I tried my best to keep my own gallery as varied as possible this year as I really felt like trying some new things other than traditional art. I know I probably upset quite a few of my watchers with my inability to stick to one medium and I apologize lol. I uploaded everything from CSS to Emoticons (and pixel art in general) to Vexel art. One thing I have remained consistent in is the decline in the number of traditional pieces I upload. I love traditional and it will always be my fav. medium of art but I just can't see myself actually picking up a pencil or paint brush for a very long time Maybe one day...but maybe it's for the best.

Playing Detective

is just too amazing..

I've always been a huge fan of the Grand Theft Auto series..all the way back to the top-down view days. It wasn't until GTA III, however, that I was able to start appreciating the smaller details that the developers started putting into the game. I've always loved the series for it's open world gameplay and the fact that you can do as you please with really no reprecussions. The game definitely helps me to alleviate some stress that I build up throughout the day. : P

On to the story...

This morning I was playing and I had done a few missions and was generally getting bored and started to stray a bit and cause complete mayhem for the residents of Liberty City. I had just done a mission for Ray Boccino and had exited a building. As I was starting to pull my gun to commandeer some quick transportation that helped to live up to the name of the game; I heard a crash and some commotion coming from about half a block North.

I turn towards the noise of squealing tires and screaming to find...nothing. I look a bit closer and I see something lying in the middle of the intersection and an empty vehicle (we'll call this Vehicle A) close by. I decide to investigate and see if maybe I can be of assistance to the motorist.

As I'm approaching the intersection, I soon realize that what I'm seeing is not a body, as I had previously thought, but a car door. I know what you're thinking...must have been the car door to that abandoned vehicle (A) in the middle of the intersection...but you'd be wrong! This is where I decided to take advantage of GTA's open world gameplay a bit and do something I had never done before: Play Detective Bellic.

Here is a diagram of the scene:

The Plot Thickens...

As I approached the intersection I noticed another vehicle (Vehicle B) that I hadn't seen before (you see this in the diagram). The first thing I noticed was that the car door was not from Vehicle A, which I found odd. I then took a closer look at Vehicle B and noticed that it was the one that was missing the door! SUCCESS!

Wait...but how did this happen? Vehicle A would have had to hit Vehicle B to knock off the door. However, Vehicle A had no damage to the front of it's body. As I looked closer I did notice that Vehicle A DID have damage...but on the rear bumper.

So how could Vehicle A knock off the door to Vehicle B when Vehicle B is BEHIND Vehicle A...AND Vehicle A has no damage to the front end?

The Conclusion

After careful consideration I came to the conclusion that the commotion I originally heard (and the initial crash) was a runaway vehicle (Vehicle C)driven by a drunk...or possibly by Gerry. The way I see it is that Vehicle C is barreling down the street at 100+ with a hooker in the passenger seat and an 8ball in the glove compartment. Vehicle C initially hits Vehicle B (who I can only guess was operated by a gentlemen dropping his elderly mother off to teach piano lessons at the local church).

Vehicle C hits Vehicle B (the old lady is safe on the sidewalk) which causes it to head towards the right. This is where Vehicle C hits Vehicle A...CAUSING THE STRANGE BUMPER DAMAGE...damn I'm a genius. The drivers to both Vehicles A and B run off terrified of this lunatic driver while Vehicle C continues on into the distance (causing only seconds of mayhem and is gone by the time I looked towards the scene of the crime).

NEW HOUSE

feels good to have a roof over the head!

So...I moved into my new house last Sunday and it's amazing. I really love the place. It's a bit small but other than that it's pretty fucking cool...oh and the short shower head that I have to lean down under to wash my hair. It sucks having your shower head spray your chest.

I'd have to say the greatest thing is to be back in a bed at night...especially in my 1000 count egyptian cotton sheets

Why Doesn't dA Support PSN?

oh the humanity!

Recently DeviantART put together two new modules that subscribers could use on their userpages. The module I'm concerned with is the Xbox Gamers Module. I think this module is very nice and is a great way for deviants to meet up outside dA to have fun and play some games. I am, however, concerned about the way this alienates Playstation users ( and even Wii users) here on dA.

I read through $kemayo's journal ( [link] )about the new modules and as I was reading the journal and the comments I kept thinking, "Why is there not a Playstation module". I then found my answer: [link]

The stance here is that XBOX provides support for profile widgets and Playstation does not. I am a playstation owner and I know that they DO provide profile widget support so I made a reply on the journal about just that: [link]

The conclusion I come to based upon these comments is that Playstation gets no support on dA because, simply, the PSN widgets are not aesthetic enough (as if the new last.fm modules are aesthetically pleasing)

The Plea

Oh Please! Oh Please!

DeviantART should not be biased against consoles. If both consoles provide the same sort of profile widget (even if one isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the other) then both consoles should be supported on dA and not just one. Basically I would just like to be able to link up with people from dA on PSN just like people on XBOX Live are currently doing.

I agree..the Playstation widgets ARE hideous and they should provide more information on them but that should not be a sole reason for excluding something. Even if the Playstation widgets are ugly they should still be included. We shouldn't alienate an entire portion of DeviantART just because something is not aesthetically pleasing.

President Obama's inauguration was this morning. I missed the speech live because I worked a 12 hour graveyard shift last night and finally passed out on the couch around 9:30 this morning. Once I got to work, however, the first thing I did was make =Druology find me text of the speech : P. I particularly liked the speech..here's to four years of Obama!

UPDATES! OH MY!

It's been a while since my last journal so I figured it was time to make a new one. Since my last journal I've managed to upload two new drawings, which I'm quite proud of, and a bunch of custom CSS. I hope by my next journal I'll be able to say the same : D

Since I was making custom CSS for everyone I figured I needed a new look as well, since I've improved in my coding skills a bit (still have a loooong way to go though).

Well...let's get on to my new fancy pants features section:

I'm A Quitter - Plus Updates

Yes, it is true...I am now officially a quitter D: I haven't smoked a cigarette in about 5 days and I really can't see myself smoking them again regularly. I don't know why I quit exactly....they just tasted horrible to me one day and now I can't really stand to smoke a full one. I won't ask questions, I'll just take it and the extra $100 a month I'll be saving and move on to bigger/better things.

I've been drawing more lately, however I seem to start something and before I finish I'm moving on to something else.. There is one particular piece I am trying to finish and hope to have uploaded here soon, and let me tell you...it's some of my best shading work. I've been making a ton of emotes lately though, and if you don't watch my emote account...you should! you can find all my emotes on my account here: ~crakaemotes.

As you can see..I now have some new CSS...I designed the header and the actual script is from =IBinsanity with alot of tweaking done by myself, hope you like it

Oh What a Wonderful Day...

So, the DA B-DAY has come and gone...oh what a strange, lovely, exciting, and chaotic day that was. I managed to stay up for the entire thing and was well rewarded!! I ended up making out with 6 subs, 3-4 journal features and the Ekto Hoodie for placing first place in the £deviantWEAR's stamp contest with my submission:

Moving on...I have been trying to submit more art lately, yet I'm still in a rut when it comes to drawing. Mostly I've been making avatars and simple CSS for people, which is alot of fun (if you need an avatar, like mine or some simple journal CSS, note me and i'll see what I can do ) I also have finally joined my first DA Club! You can check the club out here: *SaveTheArtists The Club is open to all art forms and is growing quite quickly (40+ members its first day!) and is a good place to maybe get some of my stuff noticed.

What else.... oh yes, my cars' radiator kicked the bucket and now I need a new one. I had my mother take the car into the mechanics for me to get an estimate and it is goin to be quite expensive to replace the radiator and brakes so it looks like I'll be postponing some shit. D: I am very close to being debt free though, or was...i guess haha. I'm alive and well though and I'm fed and happy so I guess things could be worse I've also taken new pics recently so if you would like to see them, just msg me and I'll send you the links!

Woke up this morning sweating, thought I might be having a panic attack. I got out of bed and walked into the living room to discover that no, no panic attack, someone had just turned off the damn A/C. WTF?! It's fucking summer time and it is fucking hot as shit! The A/C should be on until August non-stop!

Needless to say I was already pissed and then I discover that my roommates new dog has destroyed the wood paneling around the front door, knocked over a lamp, and chewed my fucking poster, with a Japanese style building and some Japanese print, into shreds.

I thought that might have been the end of it but no, I then discover that someone had deleted the message on my answering machine that was directed towards me. AHHH! It's alright, I don't need to know if I have to work today or anything, why would that be important? Thought maybe I had woke up with a panic attack and was wrong but I'm slowly building towards one..
