I've begun writing what I hope to be helpful guides and tips on my new website that I'm developing. I'm hoping that I've proofread it enough that it makes sense! I want to be of help to everyone interested in photography.

"Are you the determining factors in your photograph or is the camera? For a good amount of time I’ve let my camera do a big part of my work. I just put it in it’s “greenest” mode and fired off my shots. The camera determined the ISO or film speed, the shutter, the white balance and the aperture that it felt best exposed the shot. I do get to frame the shot however I want to but it felt so hit or miss. If I was to get an awesome shot I felt so detached from actually taking the photograph that I felt I could never possibly create anything like it again."

I have been practicing my skills as a photographer for many years now and have taken all my closest friend's photographs. I know that this is where my passions are, but haven't known how I was going to use it. What has shown up for me is entertainment photography. I was asked in a seminar about living life passionately earlier this year who I looked up to and I picked Adam Elmakias. I had been very surprised to see someone I perceived as being so young shooting my all time favorite bands.



I was encouraged by a fellow seminar member to call this guy up and hear his story. Adam was very helpful. It became my mission to get a photo pass into The Warped Tour. The photographs above this paragraph are from Lifest in Oshkosh, WI. I have shared my shots of Norma Jean, Red, Wavorly, Remedy Drive, Holly Starr, Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart, Children 18:3, Superchic[k], Pillar, Skillet & Group 1 Crew, so far.



Building that portfolio from Lifest was the ticket to shooting the recent Bless the Fall concert. I encourage anyone who wants to shoot shows to start with the basics and build up a portfolio first. It's your ticket into a lot of shows.

I'm pleased that I finally went through with building a new PC. I ended up using my 7+ year old Alienware case, because it was the strongest case I have available, but now I need to find a case if I want to reuse my older P4/2.53Ghz CPU/Mobo. Plus the Alienware case has a lot of room for adding in an additional three HD's at the very least and lots of cooling if I overclock this bugger. :]

My main computer has been a P4/3ghz processor with an Asus motherboard and 1GB of memory. That system was alright for Adobe Photoshop, but really choked if you did anything more. Now with this system I can really cook with 4 cores running at 3GHZ and 4GB of memory. :] Still running Windows XP until Windows 7 comes out.

Today, I can't believe it, but I got myself to wake up at 7:45am for a shoot. We shot around a city park, some inside shots and then we shot downtown in a bunch of shots. I'm looking through them and so far we have a neat one downtown where she's reflected in the window. It's beautiful in B&W. I can't wait to share some of them on here. :]

Well, I did really like the Canon Digital Rebel series and the T1i was no exception, but it didn't suite me the bet. It's awkward holding onto such a light camera with my 24-70L f/2.8 lens. Having the lens heavier then the camera body makes for hard balancing when shooting. Even with the 50D it is less awkward but still slightly less weight than the lens.

Canon Digital Rebel T1i @ 18.3oz
Canon EOS 50D @ 29oz
Canon 24-70L @ 33.6oz

Another big perk is being able to shoot with a shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second. That really is going to come in handy when shooting wide open with my 50mm f/1.4 when it's really bright outside.

The T1i did have full HD at 20fps, but come on now, this is a DSLR. You had to manually focus if you didn't want to have the "zipping" focusing sound in your video.

50D FTW!

My camera came in the mail right before work. I only had 20minutes to play with it but so far the 3.0inch screen is my favorite part about the camera and I do like IS on the kit lense. :] Pictures to come!

The feeling is challenging to describe. I'm listening to an artists brand new CD when I have loved every single song they have ever released. I get all tingly like back when I was in love. I immediately feel in love with this track, "Tree Village". What an amazing feeling. All this on just first track of their new CD. I can't imagine how I'll feel listening to the whole record. It will be another pure masterpeice for sure.

Dance Gavin Dance new stuff sounds amazing. The new CD is entitled, "Happiness".

I really haven't been taking pictures so far this year. I think part of it has to do with the complexities of life and all the drama that has been buzzing around.

I'm focused on setting up a basic studio. I'm excited to set it up and to have full control of the light as appose to the sun ruling the day all the time. It's scary and thrilling. I look forward to sharing whatever I come up with once I get some faces on the paper. :)
