Like I said before, my new name is ~sandpuppeteer and I'm proud to say I've improved greatly. I've moved away from fan art, I rarely touch the stuff, and have been focusing intently on my original characters. You'll find some old stuff in this gallery for a story call "The Roof Top" which became "The Casual Chaos of City Roof Tops." I more or less dropped that story to focus on characters that I created to just be in the background (remember Crawford). The story is now called "The Same Color." I've teamed up with the wickedly amazing *thundercrap, otherwise known as The Virgin Reaper, and we're co-writing "Trouble Bound" which is a cross over between Same Color and her story "Savage Soul."

There are many reasons. But mainly, I've been over there for only a month and already I have 1200 page views. And here I've had an average of less than 300 page views each month for the last 2 years.

No. I'm not an attention whore. But why put art on the internet if it's not going to be seen?

Plus, people aren't as jaded over there. Here artists have become cynical. There the popular artists actually RESPOND.

I might comment some around here, but don't expect much activity.

Awesome! I was told that the Naruto manga page I colored wouldn't go in for a few weeks, 'cause someone else was doing it, too. But I opened up the extras folder for chapter 230, and there it was!

Well, KumoriCon was such a blast. Though I regret I only had one costume. It will be different for SakuraCon. I'm not sure I'll do Kankuro there, again. I want to do the FMA Officer costume (generic), Jiraiya, and possibly Naruto. The face paint for Kankuro is a pain and I'd get to wear wigs as the other two.

Anyways, Con stuff! I apparently have fan girls. My sketch book is a whore, it passed through so many hands in the halls. Some stranger liked a doodle I did enough to snatch it from the art table in the dealers room (sign said "Leave a drawing Take a drawing"). I made manymanymany friends (Like Sammi and Brandi!) and met so many cool people.

I can't wait for SakuraCon. It's going to be my first con that I'm not actually relying on anyone else. I'll need to gather some people to share the cost of a hotel room with, 'cause I really prefer staying AT the hotel (it's well worth the extra cash). I might even do more than three costumes. I dunno.

I just need a job, now....

I might not be doing the haunted house, this year. I used to do it, so I could dress up more days than just Halloween. But at there, I don't get to chose. At cons, I do! And there are so much more growing room in an anime con. You do well enough on cosplay and all that, you get INVITED to cons. At a haunted house...you're at one and that's it.

So...yeah. Anyone wanna help me get a job?

Here's a rundown of currently planned costumes:

KumoriCon:

Karasu (Naruto) - Helping ~antibishie. I'll be dressed as Kankuro (which needs fixing) again. I'm making the mask. Progress goes well. Applied the first layer of paper mache today.

Barry the Chopper, Armor Form (FMA) - ~ ninja-ed's idea. Work starts Wednsday, maybe. At least the gathering of materials. The armor will be made from a mix of aluminum and paper mache, by current plans. Good thing this is for a local con, in the fall. The weight and temperature and sheer size...

Akamichi Chouji (Naruto) - I'll be getting the materials and supplies in about 2 weeks. ~ninja-ed wants to help me make butterfly wings. Not sure on that one, though. I'm bad enough maneuvering with a backpack on. Having wings sticking out of my back? I'd put someone's eye out.

Unspecified Con:

Generic Military (FMA) - The military uniforms look damn cool. I want to make it look as close to being an actual military uniform as possible. And I get to buy cool boots! This one will wait until I save up some money, because the fabirc won't come cheap. Possibly for AX, if I go.

Personal Projects:

Scar's coat (FMA) - I just love his coat to death! I want one of my own, even if it IS yellow. And my usual coat (the "Z?" camo) is something I've had since junior high. I get very attached to my coats...so I want a new one to be neat. ^_^

I got a new AIM name, so I'm rarely on the other one. I realized that just way too many people have my starfire name. Dreams are strange. Last night's was a mish-mosh of the oddest things. There were three major parts that fit together, but I don't quite remember which order, and I remember very few details.

One part was something about Kiba and Neji working together with a larger team, and those two got hurt. I think it was Hinata's doing. o.O Naruto was there, too.

Something about Shigure and Lenora, and Shigure seeing his parents. Lenora had another friend, too. Which is strange.

Then there was this store...thingie. There were cosplayers there. Or so I thought at first, but I think they WERE the characters. Zaku and Dosu. And a few others, that I don't remember. Although, Dosu was walking up-right and Zaku was just carrying his head thing.

Fell in love with Topher...then he was blown away. Makes me sad.

So...yeah. When ever I'm not paying close attention, I get sucked farther into the world of fandom. I passed the point of no return long ago. I think sometime around Fanime LAST year. Dare I say it? I'm almost done with costumeing! Or, I will be, after tomarrow. I'm going to spray paint the entireity of Karasu. A drab, brownish color. I sanded all of it today. His limbs have five peices each, not counting the hands!! (he's got 4 arms...)

I'll finish painting him monday, giving the weekend for the spray paint to dry. Finish sewing Karasu at Jeremy's, aside for a few hand sewing things (like securing the gloves so they don't go wonky on me, and the stiffening of the sandals).

I got Karasu to fit into my suitcase. That's just cramming his peices in, though, unassembled. I wonder if he'll fit when he's semi-put together. I'll toss in a roll of duct tape, so I can put him fully together when I'm there.

Ugh...I think my esophogus and lungs are coated in dust now, like my room. From the sanding. That probably wasn't good for my computer...but I'm more worried about my lungs.

Fanime in 2 weeks!!

My Earnest drawing, that I worked on for a week and a half, made every aspect as perfect as I could, actually talking time, the drawing that I currently love. I uploaded it TWO days ago. And do you know how many comments it got? Two. That's it, just two.

But the Evil Salads from Mars? I took all of 2 minutes to scribble that thing out and it got way more notice than Earnest! Hell, my scribbles that I did in the car got more notice than that.

Do you people want just utter crap? Is that it? Would you rather my skills degenerated into me using Paint to create pale attempts at mimicking Jhonen Vasquez? Or how about bad webcam photos of fake wrist cuts and me crying? Would that be better? I know! Angsty, half-assed poetry with stolen pictures. That's what you want, isn't it?

Or, I know! I could go back to the severe artists modesty! "Oh, the drawing that I spent twelve months on to perfect? No, it's horrible. I might throw it out." How about fake depression? I know! I'll acuse people of stealing my art, because they have the same concept of me, in a vauge sort of way! Oh, look! That one's the same species, and his hand is sort of the same. It MUST be art theft, even though they were uploaded about 10 minutes apart from each other, and they obviously spent the last month on theirs. Yup, must be art theft!!

Forget my goals of actually getting good. Pure talent gets you nowhere. Either your horrible and get a lot of attention, or you have to be some sort of God or super being to get any notice from ANYONE.

So here I go, into paint, with a crooked scan of a scribble I did in 30 seconds, that I'll claim is perfect! It just be! It's my JTHM/Zim fan character. She's Nny's mother and Zim's sister, but she's only 14!! OMG! Oh, I won't even bother cropping out the excess scanner bed, where you can see shadows. Let's see here...just a little flat, obnoxious color, a few pixelated lines...and, what the hell, let's make the image three THOUSAND pixels wide and leave it at that. Hm...saving it as a jpg...let's go with the lowest quality possible. Now to upload it, with some description that has nothing to do with the picture. A mention of how wonderful I am at what I do. Ah, there we go. DTF quality, I'll bet!

A few notes:
1) When I say "my body type" it does not give you the right to start giving me tips on losing weight.
2) "My body type" does not necessarily equal "fat."
3) Getting mad at you for assuming I meant "fat" because you started telling me ways to burn fat is not over reacting and does not make me a "ticking time bomb."
4) I will judge cartoon and anime characters all I want.
5) I reserve the right to select my cosplay costumes how ever I please.

Does anyone know where I can find muslin? It's an off-white fabric used in theater and stuff. We used it to cover lots of stuff in TechTheater and it would be perfect for this...the fabric store here has very little...I had a tough time just finding plain black fabric that wasn't silky! I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I had a raging ear infection the past few days. I kicked it's ass with a mix of decongestants, generic pain releivers, a lot of rest and tons of heat. Whee!

What else did I do? Got a scanner...I think I mentioned that. But you know what that means? GRAYSCALE! It's coming back. I'll be posting filler until I get fifteen total comics drawn up. I'm almost done with the 9th one already. So it shouldn't take long. It's going to be tough though...I've been working in a realistic style lately, and now I'm going back to my animeish style? Talk about a big shift...I hope I can draw the characters still.

Oh crap...I might have to change updates to another day besides Tuesday. It shouldn't be a problem if I keep ahead of myself, because that's the night I'd have to do a lot of homework. If I space things out and keep track of what needs doing I should be good.

Note to self: Get a planner of some kind!

Where'd everyone go? Not a single comment on my last two updates--two that I REALLY liked. *is sad* ~zinacat accidentally left herself logged in on my computer, and she'd gotten TEN comments on two pictures uploaded around the same time as mine. What the hell do you people do?! Offer sexual favors to get comments? I'm lucky if I get 2 per drawing. Better than before, but still quite sad. =/

I had some random person by the name of Samantha email me, wanting to know where to get a webcomic. By the way she addressed the email, you'd think we were the best of friends. I don't know any Samantha...

The lack of communication skills on the internet worries me. The coming generations are fucked, pretty much. I avoid things like internet slang and " L33T" with a burning passion. What moved me so much was that Leroux (the author) was able to portray a concept extreamly well, where everyone since has failed. The idea of "I want you to be happy so go be with who you truely love" when the guy saying it wants the girl. Typically, this is done to make the girl feel sorry for the one saying it and she stays with him. In Phantom, this isn't so. He sends Christine to be with Raoul, asking only that she returned to bury him when he died.

The other thing that made me react so strongly was when Erik was telling the Persian how it felt to kiss a woman for the first time, and then when Christine kissed him of her own free will.

*sniffles* It still gets me all choked up.

Expect much Phantom art! I tend to draw so much better while listening to the music from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. I can't wait to get it all up! I didn't recognize it when my mom found it. I didn't know it was her's until I looked through the pictures. My mom thought my dad had gone and bought a digital camera.

Anyhow, they all came by (Spork, Reesie, Michelle, Gaabie and someone else) to get the camera. My hair was still post-shower not done, just dry and Spork shouted from the car "you have Gai Sensei hair! It has a youthful shine!!" That silly Spork.
