So, my favorite show right now is NBC's Chuck, which just aired its season 2 finale last night. It's an incredible show, full of great characters and damn good story telling. Unfortunately, it's in limbo right now. NBC hasn't cancelled it, but neither have they renewed it. And it deserves to be renewed. So I'm appealing to my friends here. Even if you don't watch it, please sign the petition below. And watch it. Catch up with dvds or online or whatever. It's a funny, nerdy, exciting show, and I think anyone who watches it would love it. I need you all to be awesome and help it get renewed for a third season. Can you be awesome?

Save Chuck!
[link]

So. Just posted a crazy translation thing I did of 's prologue to the Law of Talos tournament. It's not a story or anything, but it's something I invested a lot of time in, and it was really fun to do. I'm in the process of translating all Unknown's entries for LoT, and I'd like to do Endzone as well, but I don't know if I'll post any more of them. This is the only one I've actually put words to bubbles on, and that was because I'm using it for a grad school application. And most of the entries are flash videos. Uber gorgeous, amazing flash videos. They'd be hard to do something other than a typed script for.

I am still kinda working on other stuff. It's been a crazy quarter, and will continue to be for another few weeks. I should have more time to write next quarter, and I'll get back into posting stories then.

In the meantime, check out . More than enough there to keep you entertained.

Just thought I'd post an update. I am working on stuff, mostly Dr. Hart and some sketchy/doodlie stuff. Chrsistmas present for will be posted when it gets finished shortly. I got a 120 color box of crayons for Christmas myself, so I've been experimenting with using those in my art. AE's pic will be colored, so there's something to look forward to. I've been saving a fun looking meme in my deviations list that did, so look forward to that maybe soon too. I've been outrageously swamped this quarter though, between classes and internship, but I am still alive. See you all soon!

I know I just recently had a journal, but this seems like a lot of fun, so I'm gonna do it. Stolen from .

1. Character you'd like to have over for tea.

I'm gonna have to take a cue from AE-chan and say Baron from The Cat Returns. He's awesome and makes his own special blend, and I'm always up for trying new kinds of tea.

2. Character you'd most like to have as a sibling.

Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club, as an older brother. There's an episode where he sort of adopts this little girl who's looking for her big brother, and he pretty seems like the coolest older brother ever. Not to mention he's a total sweetheart, and very wise about other people, so he'd be able to give me great advice. And maybe I could help him be less of an idiot about his own feelings. It'd be fun to finally get him and Haruhi together.

3. Character you'd most like to be friends with.

Xellos, from Slayers, in as much as anyone could be friends with him. He's hilarious, and life would certainly never be boring. Mostly I would just want to be on his good side. He's just generally a cool guy.

4. Character you'd most like to have as a cousin.

Victor Fries (Mr. Freeze) from Animated Batman, if only to have the excuse and the chance to give him regular hugs, poor guy. He's such a tragic character, and every time he tries to do something right, something terrible happens that pushes him right back over. He can't catch a break, and maybe as his cousin I could give him something in his life that was regularly good and not sucky.

5. Character you'd most like to have an adventure with.

I have to go with either or both of my two favorite Jacks. Jack Shaftoe from the Baroque Cycle, and/or Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates. They're both brilliant, crazy, and kick-ass. I think this choice needs little explanation, so there it is.

6. Favorite quirky character.

The Great Mizuti, from Baten Kaitos. Carzy little floating thing that talks in the third person and is "invincible, but not that invincible". Just loads of fun to have in the party, and a really powerful mage to boot. Great character design, really strange, and hilarious.

7. Favorite love-to-hate character.

Legato from Trigun. I have such a love-hate relationship with this guy, he's the obvious choice for this category. This is only having seen the anime, by the way. I don't know if he's a little less despicable in the manga,

8. Favorite bad guy.

Tie between Albedo from Xenosaga and the Joker from Batman (any Batman, but especially the animates series and the Dark Knight). They're both insane and hilarious and repeatedly well-acted. Truly great villains, both of them.

I am also not often compared to anyone, so I'll skip the last question too. Although, if any of you think I'm really similar to a fictional character, let me know! Cesura out.

Pretty auspicious title for just talking about my vacation, but it applies.

The new life is my sister's. The whole two week-ish vacation was built around moving her from St. John's university in Minnesota to Billings, Montana, where she has a new job as the music director at a church. Long haul. So we got her all moved in and left her there. Best of luck to her!

The journey home is where the problems started. While in Billings, our Hybrid Vue started giving us the check battery light every other time we turned the car on. However, turning the car off seemed to solve it, so after a perfunctory check at a dealership in Billings, we hit the road. Wyoming. I've always maintained that Wyoming doesn't really exist, and sure enough that's where everything went squiffy. While driving through Wyoming, the check battery light was on. Then the check engine light came on. Then the clock face and radio went dead. Then the power steering began failing. At this point we're (meaning my parents and I) all scared, so we pull off the freeway into Buffalo, Wyoming, population somewhere in the teen-thousands. We essentially coast down Main street, my dad taking care to not fully stop the car at a red light, and coast to the front of a bay in a Sinclair service station, whereupon the car dies, I kid you not, inches from the opening into the empty bay. We all fall out of the car and find the auto mechanics and explain that we are stranded. This is where the new faith is, particularly faith in humanity. These guys were fantastic. They popped the hood of the car and essentially said, "Huh?" because they just weren't used to working on hybrids. But they still did their best. They ran a test on the battery which pronounced it bad. They looked up the kind of battery (apparently one none of them had ever heard of) and pulled out the old one. The battery was more than dead. It was imploded, the sides caved in. They ordered us a new one. We spent the night in Buffalo, Wyoming, and in the morning, the Sinclair guys installed the new battery. Absolutely wonderful people, from us rolling up into their station and saying, "Help!" to dealing with a car that was strange to them, to ordering us a whole new battery and putting it in. I've lost some faith in technology, but my faith in humanity has been restored. A big, heartfelt thanks to the guys at the Sinclair station in Buffalo, Wyoming.

I've got lots of pictures of Montana wilderness visible from Billings, Devil's Tower, Wyoming, and the imploded battery, so expect some photos from me soon.

The moral: Americans can't make hybrids, and if your car breaks down in Buffalo, Wyoming, your in good hands at the Sinclair station. See? There are still some great people in this world, and a lot of them live in Buffalo, Wyoming.

So, erm, yeah. I am alive. I just wanted to let you all know, and to explain why I haven't posted anything in such a long time. I actuality, there isn't really a good excuse. I've been writing, but mostly in my novel, which is in a notebook. I do really intend to finish typing Seasons at some point, and then replace the little sections in my gallery with bigger section, and just post the whole thing at once. That's the plan, in any case. I also really want to finish piecing together Elysium Labs so you all can read. It's a blast to write so far, and those stories seem to be my best kind. In that respect, I do think I'll post Special Effects. So, keep an eye out for more stuff soon. Season first.

The reason I've been slacking as far as typing/writing goes is I've been reading like mad since I got home for the summer. I'm on an all-out classic sci-fi binge, starting with Arthur C. Clarke and the 2001 series (2001, 2010, 2061, and 3001). Read those, watched the movies that exist for the first two, loved them, read more Clarke, and now I'm off to the other sci-fi great, Isaac Asimov. In fact, wanting to finish FF6 is actually getting in the way of all the reading I want to do. I have a big list of sci-fi, and I look forward to being immersed in books for the rest of the summer. I promise to get some writing done as well.

In other news, the webcomic is returning to regular updates this Sunday. [link]

And as for the missing answers to my last journal: 7 was Muppet Treasure Island, 9 was Hot Fuzz, and 12 was The Mark of Zorro (with Tyrone Power).

"I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do." -HAL 9000

So, I decided to do this thing again because there were a couple characters in particular I wanted to play with. The last two in the group have a story in the works that I will defintely post here, so I hope they come out interesting enough. The trouble is most of their humor will only be understood by people who know the story, but that will be all of you eventually. Here goes.

Original Character meme
1. Choose a few of your own characters.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag three people:
4. Feel free to go ahead and add some questions yourself!!

1: Characters
Conner: My character from a story being written by AE-chan (write more!). He works in the department of Nightmares in the Dream office kind of thing, creating and distributing nightmares. Angsty, dark, slightly demented, and formerly a self-cutter, he wishes for one thing: nothingness.

Cai: Cai is the second son of God, only not quite as awesomely nice and okay with it as the first one. He tries to ignore his duties but usually ends up bringing peace and hope to people anyway. I’m not trying to be sacrilegious, but I thought it’d be a fun character to play with.

Iften: The villain. Smart, cynical, talented (unusually, of course) with magic, and evil? Doesn’t like the labels of good and evil as he thinks they’re too simplistic, but by the standards of most people in his world, he qualifies as evil. Enjoys killing people but still understands what it means to take a life. I wanted to write a story in which the bad guy wins, and he is it.

John Brooke: Completely normal. John is married to a beautiful woman who still likes him, but doesn’t quite love him anymore. He has a daughter who sings very well, and he himself plays the bagpipes. He comes from a dream I had and he was just so small and cute I had to give him life, even though a story involving him doesn’t exist just yet.

Dr. Hart: So we come to the real reason I wanted to do this thing over again. I love Dr. Hart. I just randomly thought to myself one day, “Hey, what if there were a laboratory where some guy researched different ways to kill people?” and two seconds later there was Dr. Hart. He is awesome. Apathetic, emotionless, amoral smart-ass.

Madeline: Dr. Hart’s foil. She was hired as a lab assistant to Dr. Hart because she was studying to be a coroner and the government people he works for thought she could be useful? In all honesty, I don’t really know exactly why they hired her yet, but you can bet it wasn’t with good intentions. She cares and so clashes with Dr. Hart’s complete not giving a damn attitude and the story focuses a lot on her breakdown. Poor girl.

Okay, here we go!

2: Boy or girl?
Conner: Boy.
Cai: Boy.
Iften: Boy.
John Brooke: Boy.
Dr. Hart: Male.
Madeline: Girl.

3: How old are you?
Conner: Older than I care to remember.
Cai: Um…that’s a little tricky. So as not to break your mind, we’ll say 24.
Iften: 27.
John Brooke: 32.
Dr. Hart: 34.
Madeline: 25.

4: What's your height?
Conner: I don’t know; haven’t really bothered to measure since I was alive.
Cai: Pretty average.
Iften: Tallish, I should think.
John Brooke: I’m pretty short, actually, probably only about 5’4”.
Dr. Hart: Haven’t measured, though I suppose I should sometime.
Madeline: I’m normal height.

5: Are you a virgin?
Conner: Can’t remember.
Cai: Pppbth! Ahem. S’cuse me. I’d…better not answer that.
Iften: No.
John Brooke: I have a beautiful daughter who’s 7 named Lucrecia.
Dr. Hart: I feel no pressing reason to answer that question.
Madeline: None of your business!

6: Do you have any kids?
Conner: I hope not, and if so, they’re long dead, like I should be.
Cai: *chuckles harder and doesn’t answer*
Iften: No.
John Brooke: Uh, whoops, answered that question too early. Sorry.
Dr. Hart: No.
Madeline: No.

7: What's your favorite food?
Conner: Licorice.
Cai: Alcohol.
Iften: Fruit of any kind.
John Brooke: Chocolate. *smiles sheepishly*
Dr. Hart: Green peppers.
Madeline: Really? You like green peppers? Mine is any kind of seafood. (a/n Anyone really perceptive notices Dr. Hart’s mouth twitch a little at her answer)

8: What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Conner: Don’t eat it.
Cai: Turtle Tracks.
Iften: Black cherry.
John Brooke: Chocolate.
Dr. Hart: I don’t eat it much.
Madeline: Blue Moon.

9: Do you hate anyone?
Conner: Oh yeah. My job, my boss, my whole department, myselfÂ
Cai: No, not really.
Iften: Stupid people.
John Brooke: I really try not to, I do.
Dr. Hart: *merely thinks for a moment but is cut off...

So. I figured I should finally get that monster journal entry off my front page in favor of something smaller so one doesn't have to scroll so much. Randomness will ensue.

Firstly, Endzone is (long) finished, and I don't know that I ever declared my allegiance to the Climber, who belongs to . Seriously, check out Climber's Endzone journey. To the end of my eternal love for Climber, I'm trying to join but they haven't noted me back yet. In fact, they don't seem too have been online for quite some time, but oh well. I love the Climber! (Just to clarify: everyone who participated in Endzone was amazing, and I love Dood too, and they both totally deserved to win.) First order of business: DONE.

Nextly, I am writing stuffs, I just haven't been doing a lot of typing/posting lately. I think what I might do is just finish typing Seasons, break it into two, maybe three section, and post it all at once. No more of this time-consuming, fragmented business that takes up so much gallery page space. I promise to work more on that soon.

Thirdly, my story-turned-comic collaboration with :AuroraExecutionchan: now has a home: [link] . There isn't much of anything up at the moment, just about the authors, story, and whatnot. Pages will follow next time I'm home with my scanner, so you might want to wait a couple more weeks before checking it out.

A friend of mine has introduced me to the most wonderful place on earth: ZenCha tea house. They have about a hundred kinds of tea. It is AMAZING. Nuff said. (Except for this: Russian Caravan ROCKS; it smells and tastes like a campfire. Awesome, yes?)

I think that's about it. If I think of anything else, I'll probably just keep it in my head and not say anything. Later.

So, intrigued as I was by this OC thingy my good friend AuroraExecutionchan [link] has on her page and impatient as I was to wait for her suggestions on which charras to do, here we go.

Original Character meme
1. Choose a few of your own characters.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag three people:
4. Feel free to go ahead and add some questions yourself!!

1: Characters
Jack Seraph: Pirate from my story "Pirate" who was conceived as a complete rip-off of my hero Jack Sparrow and somehow developed his own personality and story along the way. I like it when that happens.
Sil: From my story Special Effects, to possible be posted here in the future. Conceived as a complete rip-off of the amazing Neil Stephenson's Jack Shaftoe from the incredible Baroque Cycle. Intelligent vagabond who is going (gone?) crazy.
Aveline: Also from Special Effects, this time ripped off from the character of Eliza in the Baroque Cycle. Seriously, read them.
Dante: This is to please AE-chan. From my story Bloodstone, in progress. Mysterious, cold, and aloof, this guy is hiding some serious skeletons in his, um, chapel.
Riven: From a small RPG done between AE-chan and I. He's the mayor of a town, but would much rather spend his time researching magic, at which he is skilled, and reading...anything. Doesn't eat or sleep much, but stays well hydrated.
The Piper: The eponymous hero of a story posted in my very gallery. I'm hoping he needs no introduction.
Gaia: The second female in the group, from the story Seasons. You haven't met her yet, but you know who she is. On the list since Rigel doesn't talk, and I wanted someone else from a story posted here.
Gull: Hero of my short comic in my gallery. Undead and in love with the sea, Gull prefers to take each day as it comes, even if it comes with him being locked in a cell. Phew.

2: Boy or girl?
Jack: Boy, obviously.
Sil: Um, boy. Why?
Aveline: Come, Sil, don't be so suspicious. I am female, thank you.
Dante: Man.
Riven: What was that? I was reading. Oh. I'm a guy.
The Piper: Dude.
Gaia: Girl.
Gull: Undead, and a guy.

3: How old are you?
Jack: 26? 26 or 27.
Sil: Same as the guy above. Really.
Aveline: 24.
Dante: Older than you think. (author's voice there; I really haven't decided on an age yet, but he's old. Something about being frozen for some time.)
Riven: 33.
The Piper: 18.
Gaia: Um...I don't think this really applies to me, but I am much younger than Rigel.
Gull: I haven't the foggiest. Stopped keeping track long ago.

4:What's you height?
Jack: Never measured, but I think I'm pretty average.
Sil: Wow, this guy above me and I would get along great, I think. Heh, see above.
Aveline: You're tall-ish, Sil. And I'm 5'7".
Dante: Tall.
Riven: You know, I don't really know. I'd guess maybe 5'10".
The Piper: About the height of a normal 18 year old, I should think.
Gaia: I consider myself rather short, actually. Maybe 5'6"?
Gull: I'm short as well. We'll say same as the lady above me.

5: Are you a virgin?
Jack: *smiled with his eyes and doesn't answer*
Sil: No.
Aveline: Really? You never told me that. And don't even say I never asked, because I know you're thinking it. No, but I'd rather not discuss it.
Dante: *doesn't answer, just looks at you coldly* (author's note, yes he is, but he doesn't answer such personal questions)
Riven: No. (I just decided this now, but it's nothing big for him.)
The Piper: *snorts* Yeah.
Gaia: Um...I guess so.
Gull: Feh. *smiles*

6: Do you have any kids?
Jack: No, I don't think so, but that would be rather interesting.
Sil: God, I should hope not.
Aveline: Not yet, but I hope to some day, and Sil, you would be a terrible father. (Sil agrees)
Dante: No.
Riven: Um, no...
The Piper: See above.
Gaia: Yes, many. They are my children the human race.
Gull: *erupts into a fit of laughter*

7: What's your favorite food?
Jack: Pears and bananas.
Sil: I'm just happy when I eat.
Aveline: I have a weakness for chocolate.
Dante: Wine.
Riven: Food?
The Piper: Tea.
Gaia: Fresh air.
Gull: I don't really need to eat, but I like fish.

8: What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Jack: Tooty-frooty aka Super Kid.
Sil: Aw man, I haven't had ice cream since I was a kid. Pistachio.
Aveline: Pistachio? Ew. Chocolate. (Sil says "boooooring")
Dante: What's ice cream?
Riven: I like shaved ice, personally.
The Piper: Cookie dough.
Gaia: Green tea.
Gull: Cake batter....

So, yeah, this quarter is gonna suck...kinda. Mostly it'll suck cuz I have a TON of reading, but it might not be too bad cuz my classes promise to be interesting. Tudor and Stuart England, modern Israeli culture, and East Asian writing systems. Cool stuff, it'ss just gonna be a lot of work. In that vein, I might get a little slow on the posting of stuffs here. My half of the challenge with Dark-Angel20 is coming slowly, but it is in progress, and I haven't given up, and Seasons will be typed whenever I have time. Which isn't going to be very often. Add to this the fact that I REALLY want to be able to play the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt for my piano teachers (possible) last recital on October 13th and I am pretty well swamped. Especially since this involves getting it up to speed, something which I am increasingly sure is impossible in parts, so I have to practice lots, lots more than I have been. @_@ SO, after that's done with, I should maybe have some more time to write and type and stuff, but til then I'll be a little absent as far as uploading goes. I'll still be around the community, just not so much around my gallery. Sorry. Right now, though, I think I might blow off work for a little bit and play some Chrono Cross. I will finish this game, dammit, if it takes me all year.

So. I issued a challenge to online friend and fellow writer Dark-Angel20 (check her out) to write something different, and in turn I would do the same. My different is romance. I hardly ever do a story that has a romance as it's focus. Sometimes it's there or has been there or plays a role in the story, but it's never been the theme or genre. So now I am writing stories where it is. I've started three, but the second two are better, and now they both have the beginnings posted here. I'll need the help of you people, whoever and whereever you are, to decided which one becomes a mainstay on DevArt and which one I pursue just for the hell of it. So. There t is. More Seasons to come soon. Still gotta type more. Ummm...yeah. Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged is still awesome, the Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 still eats my brain, and GOOD GOD I START SCHOOL IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!! AHHHHHHhhhhhhhh.... *runs away screaming*

So I rediscovered my Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks today, including the awesome, makes-me-way-too-happy track Up Is Down on At World's End (this is the music from when Jack is being a genius and figures out to tip the boat to escape the locker...of course, Jack is always a genius; one of the reasons the guy is my hero). So of course, after listening to it a few times, I am DYING to see the movie again. I wonder if it's still in theaters... It needs to be December so I can get it dvd. Soundtracks are dangerous. Mmmm...Pirates... I'll stop the disjointed musing now. I'm not really working on anything at the moment aside from the stuff that's always in progress. I'm still typing Seasons, and I guess I could start posting that. It's just that separating it into sections could be a pain. I also finished my story about the pirate who started out an unashamed rip-off of Jack Sparrow and ended up his own character in a rather cliche set of circumstances. I could post that too, if you want. I posted a poem, see the deviation for details on how I feel about that. Otherwise, I'm kinda dry at the moment. What do you want to see?

I am back from vacation. We drove all night last night from St. Joseph's Minnesota all the way here to Cuyahgoa Falls Ohio. We left at about 1:30 in the afternoon and pulled in around 6:30 this morning. I am very tired. Vacation was great, and I've renewed my promise to myself to live somewhere on the shore of Lake Superior. Anywoo, I'll start posting The Piper today sometime, after church and sleep and The Mark of Zorro maybe and just sitting around with the cats. ...I honestly thought I'd have more to say, but since my brain is pudding at the moment, I can't think of anything else. Soooo, later then.

Well, I'm all set to post another story, but cuz I am mean it's gonna have to wait till I get back from vacation. I would start posting it now, but I'm unsure of what kind of internet I'll have over the next ten or so days and I don't want to have the first parts up, then a huge break before the rest of it. I've decided to post The Piper. I consider to be possibly my most original story, and the way I wrote it neatly devides it into nine parts. I hope all my adoring fans (snort) enjoy it, and to you who have been reading my stuff, Dark-Angel20, AuroraExectuionchan, thank you so much. To new people, again, my stories are my true art, and I am very posessive, so ask if you want to use them or the ideas in any way. I am deeply proud of The Piper (except the ultra-cheesy ending), so...yeah. We be going to the Minnesota shore of Lake Superior. Here's hoping I want to come back this time; I almost had to be dragged out of Munising last year. I guess the pirate in me just loves the seemingly endless expanse of water. I'll see you all soon, and I'll have a new story too. Cheers.
P.S. Go to Youtube and look up Yu-Gi-Oh abridged. It's hilarious.

EDIT: Go to AuroraExecutionchan's page (she watches me) and read Wasteland, an awesome story about the people of the Trojan War. She's threatening non-continuation unless people comment and until I talk her out it, she needs all the comments she can get.

Okay, here goes. I'm going to post the first of four parts of one of my stories. I've been wrestling with this decision for a while. I don't care all that much about my art; I don't hold any illusions about being any good, I just do it for fun. But my stories...well, that's a bit different. While still written purely for my own enjoyment, their more a part of me than my drawings. I spend maybe a couple hours at most on a doodle, but my stories take, months, even years, in this case. Madness has been in the works since high school, oh so long ago. It was finished recently, and I just finished typing it up yesterday. This has become an extension of my soul, to be sappy, and it's very close to me. That's why I've been agonizing over the decision to post this. I'm worrying (probably needlessly) about my ideas getting stolen. I noticed the other day, however, that anything I post here is automatically copywrited me. Yeah, I'm blind for not getting that sooner...or stupid. Anyway, this helps bolster my confidence. All the same, I will implore my potential readers, whom I love, to please respect how much time and heart went into this, as well as any stories I may post in the future. My pictures are just little things done for amusement. This, and all my stories, this is my true art. I hope you enjoy. And keep an eye out in Part 3 (upcoming) for the quote in my signature.

I am working on something as we speak that I plan to post. It's five or so random pages of some random comic/story that may or may not happen. Basically, the first three pages were just something I saw panneled out in my head and liked, so I decided to draw it, and the second two pages were put there as an after thought to explain a little just who these people are and what's going on. Though not really. Anyway, backstory on these pages. This is based off a dream I had, so there's your first clue that it's gonna be WEIRD. The guy on the tiny ship is named Gull. Whether or not that's his realy name, I don't know yet, but as he would say, since everyone calls him that, it doesn't matter. The girl in the uniform is Captain Hartnett, haven't decided on a first name yet (I'm open to suggestions). A couple weeks ago in the story, one of her subbordinates witnessed some crazy guy stealing some treasue off an Island (a very big and mostly stationary colony-ship, named after the supposed specks of land from the world their ancestors came from; there's no land on this world). Since then, Hartnett has sent out most of her unit looking for this guy, so she pretty much just has a few officers and some sailors left. More detailed crazy backstory will follow on the individual pages, but there's the general gist. Get this: IT'S SHADED!! And I LIKE IT THAT WAY!!! This is a bit of a breakthrough. Well, that, and the first page jus didn't make sense not shaded, but it looks decent and that makes me happy. It's almost finished; just need to finalize and shade the last page, then scan and upload it. Gettin' there. Otherwise, not much new here. Cheers and LOOK OUT BELOW!! INCOMING!!!!!

So, I've decided to kill, oh, sorry, challenge, myself by learning the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt. ...it's the Bugs Bunny music. Anyway, this endeavor took me online today to YouTube to look for videos of people actually playing it. To make sure it was possible, for one, and to see technique. What I saw frightened me, but that's not the subject of this journal. No, the subject is something else entirely, something I expect anyone who reads this (uh-huh, right) to go look up on YouTube right away. While poking around, I have rediscovered Victor Borge. He's an amazing pianist and a hilarious comedian, and he combines the best of both is his acts. I remember my dad showing a tape of his show to me when I was a kid, and it's still hysterical, maybe even more so now that I'm an adult. My favorite skit is the Phonetic Punctuation; I laugh so hard I can't breath while watching it. I also found some videos of Tom Lehrer, another awesome comedic pianist/singer. So! Look them up if you want to see/hear something incredible and laugh out loud funny. Today's comedians can't hold a candle to either. And I don't think you need to be a pianist like me to appreciate how incredible they are. Enjoy!

P.S. Hoping to work on some drawings tomorrow and hoping they'll be more than just crappy line-art. Hoping.

I just finished reading the scanlation of the Death Note manga I have, something I wasn't initially going to do 'til I'd seen all the anime. However, Viz happens to have an awesome sense of bad timing and sent out C&Ds to all the best fansubbers a total of TWO episodes before the end of the series. So, in the interest of not dying from anticipation until the dvds are released in the fall, I decided to buckle down and finish the manga. Holy cow, my heart was pounding for the whole last volume. Fantastic manga, and all I'm going to say is I was pleased with the ending. ...HAHA, EAT IT...insert appropriate name here. I wish I could gush about it, but I'm extremely anti-spoiler, so I don't want to ruin anything for other fans. I guess the ending was maybe a little predictable and/or cliche, but I'll take it on virtue of what I wanted to see happen. Anyway, read it. I highly highly recommend it. Otherwise, not too terribly much happening. I haven't been drawing much lately, which I'm sure all are thankful for, as I promised myself I would do better than just crappy lineart. I have, however, finally invested in one of those little wooden posy-men, so I'll be experimenting with him some. Mostly, he'll be of use in the production of my (God help us), manga, which occassioanlly I claim to be working on. >_< Weeeellll...that's it, I guess. Cheers.

Turns out I can write journals. Yup. I'm an idiot. Anyway, first journal entry. This way I can keep(?) the page interesting even when I'm away from a scanner and/or disgusted with anything I draw. I AM trying to get away from just line art, so bear with me, but I really do suck at coloring of any kind. I'm working on stuff off and on, some of which I hope to actually do something with after I sketch it. I'll be back with my scanner tomorrow for the whole summer, but I promise not to upload anything boring. (Heh, right). Hmmm, oo! Just saw Pirates 3 yesterday for the second time, and don't let anyone fool you, it's awesome. I honestly don't know what people's problems with it are, cuz I thought it was pretty damn epic. Captain Jack's my hero, as he proves, even completely insane, he's smarter than everyone. I'd see it again in a heartbeat. Consequently, I've got pirates on the brain, and I cannot get the song Hoist the Colous ffrom At World's End out of my head (no complaint). Too bad my one and only attempt to draw Jack was awful. Anyhoo, I'll try to draw something nice and interesting, though I don't promise anything, and I'll be back soon. Yo ho, hoist the colours high!
