Well, I've been at my new job for about two weeks. I really like it, it's a much bigger store than my last one. It's also a lot happier. And I'm getting lots of hours.

Going back to uni tomorrow, good times.

Got a new mobile number, though it was excrutiatingly difficult because phones are.

Writing is good, but i've been flat out recently with work and all that.
Uni's kicking ass. Loving every bit of it. The uq site is confusing as hell though.

Working quite a bit too. Which is great because I have found that uni is a fantastic excuse to buy things. Such as new clothes. Bought a bunch of new stuff so I've been cleaning out my wardrobe. Watching: Goblet of Fire and Family Guy
Reading: Parkland by Victor Kelleher, sooooo old.

Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire today, first of all, it was a pretty damn cool movie. I'd have to say though the ending was a tad abrupt. Voledemort was just freaking cool. wish i were evil.

However, it was all the better because I saw it in.....GOLD CLASS!

For those who have never heard of the miraculous experience that is Gold Class, here's the lowdown: It's a feature at Birch Carol and Coyle cinemas, there's only about twenty-five seats in each Gold Class cinema, there set so they're apart from each other, in twos with a table in between. You have to be 18 to be allowed in as they serve alcohol, along with meals and dessert, which you choose and specify when you want it delivered to your table. The seats are so soft and plush and even have a switch which puts the back down and raises the foot rest!

It makes everything that much better.

Bleh!!

Had exam no. 3 today. Modern History.

I got in there ready to go, was all :ninjafight: on the first paper, i breezed through the hypothesis work, and linking the historical sources to the essay topic. I got the multiple choice and found it so easy!

But then on the second paper I went down hill a little. There were two essays you had to write on the second paper, and one of them i had studied for wasn't included this year!
so, i was very clever and adjusted my essay study to fit one of the other questions. did a pretty good job. it was SUPPOSED to be a question about the Treaty of Versailles at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, instead they asked us wether the Weimar Republic was based on a system of government bound to fail.
So i used another question, asking in what ways the appeasement policy of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain failed in preventening the outbreak of world war 2. which KIND of related to my Treaty of Versailles study in that, i suggested that the parameters set by the Treaty (which for those who don't know, blamed germany solely for WW1 (where as it was actually the fault of every country involved and their paranoia) and demanded a whole list of things from the country) which meant that the country's sense of nationalism was severely wounded which allowed a strong charasmatic leader like Hitler to rise to power. aperwork:

Had my second exam (of 5) on monday.

Went for six hours (2 parts, 3 hours each). Had to write 8 essays! Yowsers.

I went really well on the first paper, got in there and kicked ass.

I think the fact that i'd already written four essays in the morning affected me, coz i felt i didn't do as well on the second paper.

I was so freaking tired afterwards too. All I wanted to do was sleep.

I had to work the next day too. And stayed back an extra hour, and also wangled myself an extra shift this week, coz my phone bill's $160 bucks. Double yowsers.

I'm also a little bit smitten.

Oh, i also bought a iTunes Music Card and spent all today buying new songs. mmmm....muuuusic.

I have my next exam (modern history) on tuesday, followed by my fourth (drama theory) on thursday and the last (ancient history) on friday. aperwork:

study, study, study.

Or at least i would be studying, if i wasn't distracted by work, music, writing and her.

Up so early it feels so bright
i didnt get much sleep last night
freight train rattled thru my head
whiste blow in love is dead, is dead

heart attack by fear and doubt
wont be long till the truth comes out
first impressions never last
lovers bombs they hold so fast

restless future burning bright
past is holding on so tight
never heard the warning bell
and i just wanna wish u well
i just wanna wish u well
i just wanna wish u well

Just got home from seeing Oedipus The King at QPAC, with people from school.

so good. it was fantastic, I loved it! The set was genius, the costumes (they gave the whole play, which was written 2000 years ago, a 1940's look) were awesome especially Tiresius the blind seer as a bushy-flame-haired bag lady.
Marcus Graham who played Oedipus was, apart from being a beautiful man that every girl in the audience fell for instantly, a brilliant actor. He was easily the best among the group, centering all attention on himself whenever he was on stage.

It was just fantastic.
It did rain afterwards though but i got a lift home with my english teacher so I didn't get too rained on. Good too, coz I was wearing my suit.

Also, next thursday is the final reharsal for my drama class, where we present our formed individual and group pieces for our families and friends, before presenting them for actual assessment on saturday. ()

My group piece is three scenes from Louis Nowra's bittersweet play, Summer of the Aliens set in the 1960's about a young boy called Lewis (played by me) who's best friend Dulcie (played by my partner, Emma) is a wild, out of control girl who nobody can understand, let alone Lewis who has trouble understanding anyone else, let alone her.
It's about Lewis growing up and finding out what Dulcie is trying to tell him when she whispers into his hand 'as an angel', through which he begins to understand the world around him.

My individual piece is a bunch of excerpts all centered around the theme of the drudgery of the working life, with pieces taken from Bridge Over the River Kwai, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Death of a Salesman and Hamlet.

It should be good. I've gotta get that out of the way then four other exams. oh yay.

but after that, I'm off school forever!

hello.

been a while since I wrote a journal. but, then stuff's been happening.
lately, I've suffered heartbreak, stress, sheer joy and dissapointment.
but, that's life.

I HAVE accomplished things though, being that I've lodged my application in at QTAC, so that's sweet.
I've got four weeks till the exams.
also, I met my new store manager last night, he's a cool guy really. so much better than my last boss.

and I went shopping yesterday. which is always good. bought some clothes, some bling, and a new cd -- James Blunt. I had to buy it coz I can't get that You're Beautiful song out of my head.

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that.
'Cause I've got a plan.

Now I'd like to ask a question: Do you believe in spirits, ghosts and the afterlife? Leave a comment.

It's 11.45, the day after my formal.

I'm so tired...

But in a good way.

It was an AWESOME night, it was held at the Tattersals Club in the city on the second floor so there was a cool view of the city. Everyone looked so awesome (including myself in my chocolate suit, because y'know, it's the best suit ever ) and the room was really cool.

The food was good, but I didn't eat much (Prue kept swapping our meals when I wasn't looking so she could get the better one) but the dessert was SO GOOD! It was a raspberry and chocolate pudding in a white chocolate sauce....
I DID have a few drinks, though I specifically had a glass of rum'n'coke, which kept mysteriously draining itself faster than I was drinking it. When I came back to table after giving my speech I found Ms. I-Swap-Meals-Prue finishing my drink off!

I danced alot too. Like, REALLY danced. Danced all night. And then the floorshow started which was championship 50's Rock'n'Roll dancers and then they taught you how to dance like that (at least the BASIC steps anyway, ) and it was awesome. Then I danced some more.

Anyway, I got lots of photos of which I'll put up a few when they're developed.

I went out on the town afterwards and had pizza as we walked to the Port Office.

Then I got home and slept. I am so bloody tired.

I'm in exam block this week, starting from monday this week (so perhaps going out on saturday wasn't the best idea) and so far I've had my English exam (consisiting of writing 8 essays) and today i had my Modern History exam (document studies, three essays, short answers and multiple choice)....both were six hours long.
actually I did pretty well in my modern exam today, my hypothesis for the free essay was that the white australia policy, institued in 1901 was responsible for limiting Australia's population (duh) and therefore greatly increasing the nation's vulnerability in World War Two. Good stuff.

Guess what? I just realised something. :l

I WAS going to (and still am) get a copy of Half Blood Prince tomorrow morning, BUT I just realised I'm a third of the way into a fantastic book at the moment which I paid $30 for (even when I really couldn't afford it) so I couldn't read the damn Harry Potter thing anyway, coz this book is sooo good!

It's called Specimen Days by Michael Cunningham, who wrote the lauded The Hours, which became the movie with Nicole Kidman. It consists of three short stories (mind you the book is huge, so they aren't technically 'short') which though they take place in 1. Industrial Revolution New York, 2. New York a year after 9/11 and 3. New York 150 years in the future, the three different strories somehow interweave.
And it has a recurring theme of the actual poet Walt Whitman.

Good stuff.

Um, btw, BATMAN BEGINS ROCKS!

What else....WAR OF THE WORLDS...doesn't really....*cough*

And my new addition to my list of cool bands is The Red Paintings, a Brisbane band, that's a lil' bit freaky but all good.
If you haven't heard any music by The Buena Vista Social Club, then you haven't lived!
It was so good, I can't even describe. Like when one of the older members (he's 87 and still singing and dancing) began to sing you just didn't expect his voice coming from that frail body, and then during the songs he'd stop and dance by himself, as if with someone else and it was like him remembering the bar back in Cuba.
I'm so bloody tired! I've had work from friday straight through to tuesday, PLUS school on the week days. I'm so fatigued but I'm sitting down tonight to get some more work done on my new novel, 'Beggars Would Ride'.

Mmm....was bored today at school and I had a free period so I went to the city and looked through the bookstore and got a copy of The Shadow of the Wind it's a book I saw a while ago but never bought.

Okay, so it was like 30 bucks and I should be saving for tomorrow night's big sale but I couldn't help myself!! it's an excellent book though. It's set in 1945 in Barcelona (That's Spain for the geographically-challenged) and it's about a young boy Daniel Sempere who's father is a bookseller and when the sons in the family turn 11 they are taken to the Cemetery of Dead Books, which is a vast libarary of forgotten tomes and books, which supposedly contain an imprint of their writer's souls. It's fantastic, he tries to unravel the mysteries that sorround the author of the book he chooses.

In other news I've gotta put some more artwork up, eh? I mean, alot of my creative juice is pumped into my writing but I need to do some stuff to put up here on dA. aperwork: will do.

Tomorrow it's English, which is 3 hours 25 mins and requires you to write four essays (oh joy) so I've gotta go get some quotes together to take in with me.

Then, on thursday it's Ancient History in the morning (2 essays, comparing Minoan and Mycenean culture, then Minoan culture in depth versus Egyptian and other Mediterranean) and Drama in the afternoon which I'm looking forward to because you have to write a play and that is going to be fun.

In other news I've decided to cut back on work, limiting the hours to 10-12 a week, which will allow me to focus more on study and then with the bit of free time I'll get I can get to the gym more often, to relieve stress...

It's after midnight, on sunday night.

I do have school tomorrow, but I'm up for one reason: The Last of the Dogmen.

That's right, it's an awesome movie, playing on tv right now. It was made sometime in the 90's, probably mid, and in my opinion, is an absolute classic.

I remember watching it when I was a little kid, with a bowl of steamy hot chips when I was sick with a cold or whatever. Go figure.

It stars Tom Berenger and Kurtwood Smith (Red from That 70's Show). It's set in the Ox Bow, a rugged mountain range in North America, and revolves around Tom Berenger's character, Louis Gates, a bounty hunter, he is sent in by Kurtwood Smith's character (the sheriff) to capture/kill three escaped convicts.

So after four days tracking something happens out in the woods, gunshots are heard and when he arrives there's blood all over the ground and a single arrow lying in the grass. He glimpses a group of horsemen riding away.

Basically, he begins researching and finds that the arrow belonged to a Cheyenne military group, called the Dogmen, vicious warriors in Native American society.

Blah, blah, turns out there's something up in the mountain range, so he sets out with an female archaeologist (love insterest, anyone?) to prove his theories correct.

EXCELLENT MOVIE!

A book called 'The Worlds Greatest Book of Useless Information'!

Like did you know that the spinal cord is as flexible as a rubber hose?

Or that the only building in the UK the Queen may not enter is the House of Commons, as she is not a commoner?

Or that (this I love) in Alabama it is illegal to wear a bulletproof vest while you commit a murder? WTF?

And it's got famous last words too, some of them are pretty deep:

'And so I leave this world, where the heart must either break or turn to lead.'
-French writer Nicholas-Sebastien Chamfort, in his suicide note.

To that I say, let the heart break, for a broken heart that has known pain and can love again in time is better than one that turns to lead and slowly poisons you.

Thanks pammy!

I am cursed.

See, I have two curses, the first is the Sunglass Curse, I love sunglasses, they're very cool. But, I have never in the history of my life been able to keep intact or know the location of my pair of sunglasses after a month of having them. Sometimes less.
See, for some cosmic reason, within a few weeks of getting them, they ALWAYS fall apart, break, snap in two, sunder, tear or just dissapear in a puff of smoke. There's probably a cache (KAY-SH damnit!) somewhere in my house of lost sunglasses.

My second curse, for the last three christmases, I've been sick . 2 years ago, I had massive migraines all through christmas, last year I had a high fever and all over flu-ness and this year I have a throat fluey thing. Now I could go and blame other people for this BUT, I know that I'm cursed.

But this my favourite song from it:

Sweet Virginia

I couldn't tell
The weight of the world
was on your shoulders
Couldn't tell you were unhappy,
you were unwell
I go along like nothing is wrong
no need to worry
Too late to feel sorrow
upon borrowed time
Then now there's no answers
no easy way out
take it all if you want
take it all if you want

if you know how to run
Sweet Virginia, you should run
if you know how to play
Sweet Virginia, you should play
if you know how to say
Sweet Virginia, you should say
if you know how to be
be without me, you should be
you should be

I couldn't see
it seems I don't learn or get the message
don't know you you carry it all by yourself
How can it be
it doesn't belong, it's so not funny
this vintage of violence again on parade
and now there's no wonder
no shelter from shame
be alone if you want
be alone if you want

if you know how to run
Sweet Virginia, you should run
if you know how to play
Sweet Virginia, you should play
if you know how to say
Sweet Virginia, you should say
if you know how to be
be without me, you should be

1. Garden State, I've wanted to see this ever since I heard about it a month or so ago, it looks hilarious and deep, plus Zach Braff who wrote, directed and starred in it is awesome.
Plus Natalie Portman.

2. Joan of Arcadia, my sis told me about this ages ago but I did't believe her that it was going to be good, and I've seen the preview, it looks very good! My kind of show anyway.

There is something that I'm working on:

1. There is a certain moment in the life of a writer, possibly in the middle of the night, possibly as you walk along the street that is a sudden glorious epiphany that you just want to jump up and down, see I've been waiting for a simple story idea, because those are the ones I work best with and here it is, it's called 'Guide Me To Glory'

The one thing annoying me the most right now is:

1. CUSTOMERS! GAH! Customer service is like chewing on glass, but 100 times less fun! I worked today, and it's a saturday hence my annoyance at people, everybody does huge shops on saturdays.

You know why? This thursday I have a 6 hour logic exam

meep. It counts for 1/5 of my final grade for high school, since you have an exam for each subject, basically, Stress-city, population: ME.

The two philosophy essays I'm going to write for it are 1. The Problem of Evil Against the Existence of God and 2. Free Will and Determinism.

But, on the plus side after thursday I'm off school for the rest of the year! sweeet.

Well, I called the manager at Coles who was interested in hiring me and he asked me to come down this afternoon for an interview.

I went down (though not in black and whites like I always do so that was wierd....but then I'm just eccentric. ) and blah blah, talked to him, blah blah and bam! He wanted to hire me then and there.

But, I said to give me the night to think about wether or not I want to go with DJ or Coles.

I realised something too, as pointed out, I'll get discounts on stuff like ipods at DJ, however, at Coles since it's under the ColesMyer umbrella I not only get Coles discounts but also at Myer, Kmart, BiLo, Liquorland (like that will be of any use) and many other stores.

Well, last sunday I went to the Black Eyed Peas concert at Brisbane Riverstage.

my life now has meaning.

It was bloody fantastic! I went with my bro coz he gave me the tickets for my birthday, and frontlining was DJ Noodles (he was good), Resin Dogs (even better) and DJ Kristian Herdananz (the best of the three).

But after two hours of waiting, mulling about in the crowd of 10,000 and eating a corn cob () the chant went up, 'Black Eyed Peas! Black Eyed Peas!'

And lo and behold the stage was bathed in red and blue flashing lights and the band began to play and a police siren wailed, then the lights returned to normal for a brief moment to allow the black backdrop to fall down and reveal a white backdrop upon which were the silhouettes of BEP!

The police-stuff returned and they sang 'Hands Up', which kicked ass along with some really cool moves by Taboo and will. I. am, not to mention Fergie

Taboo then called out about how australian women were the most beautiful, and continued with *more* songs including new ones from the new album Monkey Business.

My favourite new one is Pump It, it's sooooo goood!

Oooh, then they sang 'Where is the Love' and the crowd went wild, and when they finished [link] asked everyone to hold up a lighter or a 'cell phone', and there were so many lights in the audience! With 'One World' scrolling across the backdrop they proclaimed that as we were doing this they were sending a message to the poeple of america....."to get a new president!"

They also did Hey Mama, which rocked and Shut Up and had this kid doing break dance moves that blow the mind on stage and apparently he was only nine!

Aaaanyway, it was fan-bloody-tastic!

It was so much fun, there was a bigting of sand and a net and the volleyball was heaver than I expected. Except I have a problem where my serve is too strong, it hits the back net....but I managed to get the hang of the serve....eventually.
And at first it was like 'AH! FLYING BALL!' but then it got easier and when you hit it up (it has to be hit twice before going over the net) and then another person hits and it slams it over the net it's a wonderful feeling to score a point.....
YAY! Okay, so what did I get prezzie wise? Well, from my bro Ed I got a Faithless cd!!! Yes! I looove Faithless, especially the P*Nut and Sister Bliss remix of 'Mass Destruction'

! What else? Well my sis printed off one of my robot cartoons and had it grafted onto a t-shirt, erm, three books: Illustrating Picture Books, Grass for His Pillow and one that cracked me up 'A Man's Guide: How to Keep A House' it was hilarious, the front cover has a 1950's style guy holding an iron and it lists tips inside the book like 'How to Check for Infestations' and 'How to Fix Lighting' and most funny 'How to Escape a Fire'!!
