Many strange events happen throughout people's lives which come to be part of collective human history.

And today something really quite surprising happened. It seems that Micheal Jackson, Legendary King of Pop, has passed away not one hour away from where I live (apparently he died in the UCLA hospital). His cause of death is unknown but according to all my news stations (which broadcast to the Greater Southern Californian Area) there are ridiculously sized mobs around the hospital of mourning fans.

As much as I, along with nearly EVERYONE else, disagreed with some of his personal choices and way of lifestyle (to the point of ridiculous jokes being made), at the end of the day he was still an amazing icon of '80's music.....more like THE icon of '80's music (and I loathe to admit it at times but I've had a recent upwelling of appreciation for music from the '80's...I don't know what it is but I just really like the feel of that decade of music) There will never be another who will be crowned "The King of Pop". I honestly can't think of anyone of my time having the same magnetism and popularity throughout the decades as MJ did (can you imagine the Jonas Brothers being the mega famous, mega popular Kings of Rock.....or whatever their genre is supposed to be.....20 years from now? No? I thought not...)

My father (young adult of the '70's complete with the "funky" bell-bottom pants) is only a year or two off from MJ's age and I know for a fact that he is a loyal fan because even though he seemed rather unaffected when I told him moments ago, when I went into his room he had the Channel 2, Channel 4, and Channel 7 news all showing their broadcasts about Micheal Jackson. Plus, I remember that my dad has MJ's Thriller in cassette form somewhere in this house (which is probably going to be worth a pretty penny on EBay a few decades from now I wonder where it wandered off to?) I think my dad also has some sort of "Best of Micheal Jackson" cassette as well.

I found the news really quite shocking even though I've never really been a "Super" fan like my father (and millions of others) have been. But I certainly know a bright star when I see one, and I know what legends I need to remember for my (in the very far-off future) grandchildren one day....

Sincerely, A rather mournful feeling R.A. Corvinus

EDIT: Apparently my mother loved Micheal Jackson back in the '80's as a teenager in Bangladesh...how strange...I had no idea. Apparently he was what all the "in" teens back in Bangladesh in the '80's listened to. And Farrah Fawcett (of '70's Charlie's Angels fame) died today as well from her long battle with cancer. My mother said she used to watch Charlie's Angels in Bangladesh too! It was was rather humorous because my mother said "All the people from my childhood are dying. I'm getting old!!!"

Life never ceases to surprise and amuse....

Actually, I do have something I am doing over the summer. Going to the cinema with various companions! Fun times...

Movies I am going to see include the following:

"Angels and Demons" with Fujiko Miniamura. We are both reading the the book for our independent reading novel assignment and afterwards we shall see it....eventually

"Up" with my darling little sister. My sister greatly enjoys 3-D movies and I love Pixar, so it is a win-win situation.

"Public Enemies" It's going to be so cool! Guns, 1930's, gangsters, and the birth of the FBI!

"Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" Harry Potter! That is enough said, but if I were to say more I would say I've been a fan for about a decade now!

"Julie and Julia" This is definitely a "foodie" type movie, and I am most certainly a foodie (spending hours on food blogs, drooling over Silpat cookie sheets, copper-bottom pans, and various things like Fleur de Sel, saffron, and pure Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla extract.)Meryl Streep is going to be playing Julia Child which is reason enough to go and see this

And there are a few others I may or may not want to see. It depends on my mood (and my wallet.....^_^)

I saw this on someone else's journal and was compelled to share it.

*****************************************************************

1. Being Gay Is Not Natural

And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2. Gay Marriage Will Encourage People To Be Gay

In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing Gay Marriage Will Open The Door To All Kinds Of
Crazy Behavior

People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has
legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight Marriage Has Been Around A Long Time And Hasn't Changed At All

Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight Marriage Will Be Less Meaningful If Gay Marriage Were Allowed

And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight Marriages Are Valid Because They Produce Children

So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously Gay Parents Will Raise Gay Children

Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay Marriage Is Not Supported By Religion

In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children Can Never Succeed Without A Male And A Female Role Model

Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay Marriage Will Change The Foundation Of Society; We Could Never Adapt To New Social Norms

Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Repost This If You Think LOVE Makes A Marriage!

*****************************************************************

The sarcasm is quite amusing and effectively brings the point across. Why are people such enormous hypocrites sometimes? Even in my own glorious state of California which was for a short but sweet time enlightened in the ways of rights to all individuals basically got slapped in it's (metaphorical) face during the Elections. Even my own parents voted yes on Prop 8 (Old fashioned and religious and what not.) I actively try to be tolerant of differences in opinion and even if I don't agree with it, I wouldn't completely condemn all those who support it. Also, I wonder whatever happened to "Separation of Church (Cathedral/Synagogue/Mosque/Temple/Etc.) and State.

Alas, what a (ridiculously shameful) pity......Hopefully enlightenment will reach us once more and we will keep moving forward for the betterment of ALL society.

In the International Red Cross/Red Crescent/Red Crystal there are seven fundamental principles that they base all their actions by and I feel as if they apply more than to a voluntary humanitarian organization. Some of the principles include Neutrality, Unity, Impartiality, Humanity, and Universality. Wise principles that many around the world could benefit from.

A rather opinionated <strike>Kind Of Crazy Rant</strike> Journal brought to you from the inner thought processes of a still rather indignant R.A. Corvinus.

Thank you and good night

Tis time for Part number two...

June 6th...Kung Fu Panda: Yeah, this one is a rather silly story of a kung-fu master trying to teach his art to a really lazy hopeless Jack Black in panda form. Some evil guy who escapes from prison is trying to find the 'Chosen One' so he can destroy him and do evil things. Any guesses as to who the Chosen One is? Anyone at all? (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge...) Awesomeness Probability: 7/10

June 27...Wall-E: 700 years into the future Earth has become uninhabitable because of all the trash (isn't this going to happen like 50 years from now?) So humans deploy millions of little robots known as "Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth-Class" (Wall-E). The program fails so humans ditch Earth and turn off all the robots. They didn't get them all though...Wall-E is lonely until one day he meet a probe sent from wherever humans are living named EVE. He falls in love and that's all I know *nods* The animation in this movie is SPECTACULAR! Awesomeness Probability: 10/10 because Pixar movies are always good.

July 18th...Batman: The Dark Knight I haven't seen the first movie even though I should....when I was little I loved Batman: The Animated Series (along with Spiderman: The Animated Series, and Superman: The Animated Series, and The Incredible Hulk: The Animated Series, and the Justice League, and Men in Black: The Animated Series ) I also saw a few of the Batman flops (Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze anyone?) Yeah, so basically the live action movies really sucked until 2005 when Christian Bale was hailed as "the greatest Batman ever!" I saw trailer for Dark Knight and the first thing I said was 'Oh my god it's the Joker. I love that guy!' People have been moaning over joker's lack of face paint but he looks and sounds so ridiculously insane and evil that I don't care. Frankly, if I like that fact that his clown face paint is all faded and stuff because if it were like in the animated series he would look really stupid instead of evil in a crazy, psychotic sort of way. Awesomeness Probability: 8/10

August 1...The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor: I love the Mummy movies! Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are awesome! But the thing is Rachel Weisz has been replaced with some loser who think she can be Evie. Pffft....I'm really upset. How dare they replace Rachel??? So now I wonder if I'm even going to see this movie. So basically they've moved away from Egypt onto China. There's another mummy who wants to take over the world (He's a Chinese Emperor though...played by Jet Li) Evil things happen just like last time and the time before that except it's in China. And Alex is no longer the cute little kid. And Evie has a replacement!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesomeness Probability: 7/10 Because they replaced Rachel with some woman named Maria or something

Yeah, so here is my movie itinerary for this summer.

This summer of movies seems much more exciting than last summer, dubbed by many as "The Summer of Sequels, Three-quels, and Beyond" I am quite excited about many movies coming out this summer (though I admit some are sequels). Here is my list of movie I must see with the basic premise, my thoughts, as well as my "Awesomeness Probability" scale.

April 18...The Forbidden Kingdom: An American teenager who is obsessed with kung-fu movies finds a relic of Ancient China in a small pawnshop which unexpectedly transports him back in time. He meets the awesomeness that is Jackie Chan and Jet Li and together they must go on a quest to save Ancient China from the evilness of the Jade Warlord. I've already found my favorite character who is this really awesome demoness bounty hunter The kid who plays the part of "American teenager" is someone I recognize from that Disney movie with the superheroes....Sky High is the name I believe. Yeah, so hopefully the guy's acting skills have improved since then seeing as he's a main character and I wouldn't want his bad acting to impede upon the awesomeness of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Awesomeness Probability: 7/10 because there is still a question of that one guy's acting skills.

May 9...Speed Racer: I used to love this anime when I was little but I realized that it couldn't have been the original 1960's anime that I was watching (I'm not that old) After doing some investigating I found out that I was probably watching "The New Adventures of Speed Racer". Still, I'm extremely hyped about this one. It's about Speed Racer, a natural behind the wheel who wants to be like his older brother, the very famous Rex Racer, who died some time ago in a race. He turns down an offer from Royalton Industries, the head of which vows to make sure that Speed never crosses another finish line again. Soon Speed learns that some of the biggest races are fixed by these crazy rich people or something. He teams up the the very cool Racer X to beat Royalton at his own game in the biggest (and most dangerous) race known as The Crucible. Some people have been flaming this movie outright because it looks "childish". I believe it looks exactly it's supposed to be: an anime turned reality. The colors are especially cool. If they want an "adult" movie perhaps they should see something like Epic Movie (I'm sure there is enough childishness masked as adult in movies like those for the "average" stupid American who wishes to see movies with lewd jokes and/or behavior and many explosions) Sure, Speed Racer isn't going to be some profound movie with a message but it sure will be a lot of fun (sorry about the stereotype that is unfortunately rather true). People always seem to enjoy flaming things that are different. Awesomeness Probability: 8/10 for being a little cheesy if nothing else.

May 16...Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian: The first movie was surprisingly good and I was truly surprised by how well Disney stayed loyal to the book so I'm pretty excited about this one. The Pevensies have once again returned to their mundane little life until they are magicked back into Narnia which is 3000 years after their original visit. The kingdom is troubled like the way many kingdoms are, so they along with the very cool accented Prince Caspian (whom Fujiko seems to have a little infatuation with ) save the kingdom and such. The storyline is pretty much the book so go read if you've been a deprived little child and not read it. This movie (judging by the trailer) seems a lot more darker than the first so that's a bonus. Awesomeness Probability: 8/10 because it's Disney and they always seem to inject their silly happy optimism into everything.

May 22...Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: When I first heard that a fourth Indie was coming out I was like 'Oh god, they're turning a good movie series into a money making scam movie with sucky replacements' When I heard that Harrison Ford was reprising his role I was like 'Oh god, that guy is WAY past his prime. This IS a money making scam movie *sigh*' When I saw the trailer I was like 'Oh god, there is no way in hell that I'm missing this!' When I was little, these movies were my "bonding experience" with my father and I really like them. My only complaint is the fact that Shia LaBeouf is in the movie and I don't particularly enjoy his acting. The plot has been kept a secret so I don't know that much about this one. Indie is up against the Soviet union who are trying to get an ancient relic known as the Crystal Skull. Yeah, not much about the plot but I'm pretty hyped about this. Awesomeness Probability: 9/10 Damn Shia LaBeouf and his extremely sucky act...

On this day Ravenna Alexandria Corvinus has beat her personal record of how many days she has gone by with no sleep. The last time she actually slept was on Monday (and that was only for a half hour) which would mean the she has not slept in three days. Wait, WHAT!? Yes, that is not a typo....THREE DAYS. Furthermore a gigantic book club paper was due on this day to the English instructor that Ravenna not only failed to turn in, but didn't even bother to START (though she had three months to do so) In the course of two periods she became infamous (as proven by an incident in the library where a random stranger asked her incredulously if she was the "Girl Who Didn't Do Her Book Club") To add to her list of accomplishments on this day she also failed a playing test in Orchestra. Also on this day she claimed that her list of friends from best to least are as follows: The Library, the Cute Brown Little Finch, the Obese Black Finch. Corvinus may also possibly have something to do with an ALL Powerful Bird Army Conspiracy whose soul purpose is to bring down the General Kim's Great Army of Mutant Chickens (who incidentally can't even get rid of a bothersome splinter) If you are not somewhat confused by now, then you are hopeless, au revoir.

OR can mean many different things to many different people. If you are in math class OR is a logical disjunction in what is known as a logical operator. In English class OR is a coordinating conjunction used to describe one or the other and the choices that a person can make, which as we all know (if you read up on quantum physics that is) is split up into multiple identical parallel universes where there exists all the possible outcomes to any given choice (the Many-Worlds Theorem is one of my favorites) brought up by the word OR. If you are a surgeon OR is your performance stage (Operating Room), if you are a masked serial killer with a weapon you may notice that your instrument in hand also contains OR (Owner's Risk), if you are an American citizen than OR is the proud state of beavers, Oregon, and OR can even be the Latin word aurum in disguise as a Middle English word meaning "a gold tincture". OR is quite powerful, is it not? Such a small word, and I haven't even listed all the other possible meanings. But as EVERYONE knows OR's most important meaning is as an abbreviation for the most awesome piece of fan fiction in the known world called Odd Relations plus it's equally awesome sequel Odd Reunions. Oh, and may I add we've got quite the little community of OR cast members going for us on Deviant. I hope you have enjoyed the random babblings of Ravenna A. Corvinus, merci beaucoup and bonne soirée.
