Due to reasons like no time, no Photoshop, my artistic attention diverted somewhere else or just no desire to draw at all my precious Susaka sat in a notebook since 06 hoping one day to be completed and to be brought back to life. Over the course of several months one drawing of her that I had done way back in 06 somehow got some love and attention and mostly completed for some time until it came time to color the dress. I just didn't have the right color. Anime Expo and the good people at the Copic booth came to my rescue and helped me pick the perfect color. I finished the drawing the other day and in that triumph and even with so many older drawings still to color I felt the need to create something new and in my newer style cuz let's face it three years is a long time to develop and change your drawing style.

Hopefully a lack of Copic colors won't slow me down too much so I can reveal her to everyone soon. Well. Back to work.

Day one involved much waiting in lines for hours outside. It was actually not that hot for a July day in souther California but when the sun beats down on unprotected skin of 20 something year olds who don't listen the their 30 year old friend some misery will befall those people. Not to mention uncomfortable shoes that make an outfit but really aren't suited for standing in one place for hours and hours. (Especially when the shoes are on the wrong feet. -coughrokshannacough-) But once we got inside, sat for a while and the splendor that is the JRock band Moi Dix Mois filled our weary and sun parched souls the pain of blisters and second degree burn was worth it.

We got up so late on day 2 there wasn't much time to do anything. We barely had enough time to do much in artist alley and the dealers hall. It was okay though since we still had 2 more days. Between that and the picture taking, mostly of my friend's brother who dressed as Master Roshi from the Dragon Ball series, there wasn't much else we did.

Stay tuned for the last 2 days of AX including getting stuck in the hotel elevator and how and I won the greatest raffle ever.

Back to the title of this entry. It's inventory time at my work and if anyone who is reading this has been to a Home Depot you can imagine what an undertaking it is. This is week 3 and we have 5 more weeks to go. The time is currently about 1:10 am. Yes it's over nights from 9pm to 6 am. What would compell me to take such hours and such a difficult job? Well I wanted a break from cashiering, 40 hours and weekends off. I don't have much of a life at night anyway so I'm not missing much there nor do I have one during the day so I have no problem sleeping during the day. It's not as hard as one would think either.

Tonight I'm going to the doctor after I clock in from lunch. It's on Home Depot's time cuz I injured myself at work. Honestly I feel bad for filing a report but I just hafta make sure nothing's broken.

Working while the store is closed also allows us to be a little silly and to be honest think a bit less safely than we should. With this silliness my sis has taken a couple photos of the team. I really mean a couple as there's just 2 but I'm sure there will be more. I'll post them later. They're mostly for you Christmas.

-ahem- While I haven't seen the new Star Trek movie yet I'm super excited to do so and have heard wonderful things about it even from people who don't know Star Trek at all.

So if I haven't seen the movie yet what is the point of this journal. Well it's to illustrate my comments in the first paragraph. My mom asked my aunt if she saw the Star Trek quiz that was in the local paper that weekend. One of the questions of course had to do with those oh so famous Tribbles. I'm not sure what the question was but my mom goes onto explain that Tribbles are really attracted to kind people which probably explains why they reproduced so well on the Enterprise. So what did the crew finally do to be rid of them? Why transport them to a Klingon ship of course.

My aunt simply replies to my mother with a "you're lame." And I got to thinking. Who is more lame? My mom for knowing all that or me for knowing how funny it is to trasport creatures who are attracted to kind beings to a ship full of Klingons?

3 years of living with people other than family can really change a person. For me the experience caused me to grow and develop in ways I wasn't expecting nor was aware were necessary. For my sister, however.....well...lets just say she's not quite ready to live on her own. She's moved back home.

I'm ready to get started with this chapter of my life but it's gonna be a scary at first. This'll be the first time in my life not just living away from my sister, who I've shared a room with since she was born, but any family at all. A psychic friend of my former room mate even said that this will be a very benefical move for me.

Wish me luck. And since this house is so cute I'll take some photos for you Christmas.

I'm surrounded by Twilight pandemonium and because of that I don't want to read the books. I thought seeing the movie would make me want to read the books but instead it had the opposite effect. I have no real grounds to hate the books as I haven't even read them but I know enough to have the opinion that those books were written simply to satisfy some girl's fantasy about a relationship with a hot vampire.

What I find the most disgusting, and again I am basing this on the movie and what I do know from the books, is Bella. It seems like she started out as a fairly strong female character and had the potential to remain so but as soon as a super sexy and mysterious vampire captured her heart she went -swoon- then weak and oh so dependent.

Is it just me or is this Twilight epidemic very different from the HP craze? Do I feel differently about the HP craze because I read the books before it was cool and before the movies were even thought of? Is it that, in my opinion and the opinion of other anti-Twilight factions, Twilight is nothing more than a fan girl fulfillment for taboo mortal/vampire smex?

Whilst driving around recently I saw one of the most thought provoking stickers I've ever seen. On top it said "Fight like a man" and on the bottom it said "get on your knees and pray."

What the heck? What kind of message is that? In the literal sense the first part seems pretty powerful but then the other part seems so weak as though giving up whatever is being fought for. I'm pretty sure it was a religious message and the only way that person knows how to fight is to get on their knees and pray.

I'm certainly not bashing any Jesus freaks or supporters of any organized religion. My beef is with that message itself and it's literal meanings.

So far I've lost 8 pounds over 3 weeks with the help of a wonderful work out DVD called Turbo Jams and really eating less crap. I have recently fallen off that wagon but starting in April I'll get back on it in hopes to loose at least 40 pounds by July. (Just in time for Anime Expo.) That's only 10 pounds a month so it'll be a snap to do. More would be nice but I figure if I set an actual goal it might help me better stay on track.

So I can keep better track and maybe to keep me motivated I am going to post my weekly weight here starting in April. Wish me luck.

School stuff:

I'm taking Japanese. It's hard but it's really fun. We just had a quiz. I think I did okay. I'm also taking a class called "History of Anime" Yah you heard me. We watch anime every time we meet and then we talk about it. It's like a mini convention every time. There's the rabid yaoi fangirls, fan guys and the super nerds who's life is anime.

Art stuff:

I have some more Gaia commissions including someone who won my auction. I'm shocked that it went so high. 51K. It sucks that I haven't been doing my own original work. With these commissions I haven't been wanting to, although I've slowly been getting more motivated to. It figures now that I'm going to school I want to draw more. Now I know why you college goers complain so much. Oh well.

Life in general:

Nothing 'cept for stuffs goin' on at Gaia. I'm almost finished with another commission. I have ideas for stuff that I wanna draw for me but I haven't been able to because of the commissions.

My sis had a Halloween party and two of her guests had such adorable costumes I wanted to draw them. Then yesterday at work one of the gals (Bianca) was dressed as, like a punker kitty girl. (Did you get to see her, Haley chan?) Kawaii desu. That's 3 drawings I can't do 'till I finish the comishes.

I wonder if people who regularly do commissions have that problem.

Hmmm. Updates about Gaia? I could've just talked about this stuff there.

I know I said that was gonna do a series of chibi drawings blah, blah, blah but now that I have commissions of sorts that project is gonna be on the back burner. It's a weird feeling drawing things for people I've never met. It's really fun but sometimes I feel like I hafta rush so it doesn't feel like it's taking so long for the person waiting.

I wish I could do more but doing freebies is not a good thing. The first one I did was a freebie and I was disappointed by their reaction. There was no gushing, no tip, no nothing. Just a polite and cold thank you. I guess I should at least be greatful of that, but still. (Hmph. And it was really purty too.)

I joined Gaia Online. made me. I'm not even sure if I want to stay. When I have time I'll explore a little more. Maybe I'll grow to like it.

I'm finally getting somewhere with this whole thing. Okay so I only finished one. It's in my gallery right now. Go see it. Next up will be Dark from DNAngel. After DNAngel is done I think I might do Full Moon O Sagashite.

As far as updates go there's not really much going on. The only thing I can I metion without boring anyone is that I'm gonna draw a series of chibi drawings which I'll call "Two Sides of the Same Coin" It'll be my first real fan art and the subject matter will feature characters that transform into completely different characters or that are part of each other in some way.

My first ones I'm working on are Dark and Daisuke from DNAngel.

I don't know what I should do. I don't really have a reason to get one other than to K.I.T. with people I used to work with or maybe to classmates it and find people I used to go to school with. Plus alot of bands have my spaces. Angels and Airwaves for example. I was able to find tour information there but not on their fan club site. (which you hafta pay for)

I'd like to hear pros and cons from ya'll out there.

On a different note. DNAngel vol. 11 FINALLY came out so, among other things, yesterday I bought it. These other things included Fruits Basket vol. 14 and Tsubasa vol. 10 which I could've bought at Anime Expo but didn't for some reason. Oh well I have it now.

I can't read any of these things yet though. I don't think anyone has ever been more passionate about animals than The Crocodile Hunter aka Steve Irwin.

I haven't been this shocked about something in the news since 9 11. Yes I would compare the shock value of his sudden death with 9 11. Just call me The Beatles.

We all knew as we watched The Crocodile Hunter that he was indestructable but in the back of our minds we knew this job would kill him. The most shocking thing was what killed him. We all thought it would be a croc he thought he could handle but couldn't. No. Instead he met his maker due to a freak accident. Something so stupid shouldn't have killed him. I mean, a sting ray's stinger right in the heart? What is that about? If it had been in his leg or something he totally would have made it.

I guess I'm kinda angry at him for letting something so stupid kill him. I mean he's The Crocodile Hunter for cryin' out loud.

Well I'm in total grief right now and the only way I can show that I care is by watching whatever tribute program Animal Planet will whip up.
