SERIOUSLY, I TOUCHED CHESTER'S ARM AND HE KNEELED DOWN TO SING "FIRE" TO/WITH ME. Also poked the hand of the lead singer of the Velvet Code (opening band) and got their CD signed by them after the concert. Oh yeah, the stage crew gave me one of DBS' unused water bottles after the show!! I was really standing close to the stage despite being almost at the complete back of the line at first, outside. It was easy because it's a pretty small venue. I took a lot of photos and videos and I still can't believe I was that close to him!!

School has already started for me. To be exact, this is my 4th and senior year of high school. So yes, I'm preparing to go to college once it's over. I think it's quite obvious that I really want to get into an art school/college by now. So I'm trying to do any further portfolio preparation as I can.

Took some negotiation and schedule changing, but I've actually gotten into all of these art courses this year:

1) AP Art Studio
2) Drawing
3) Painting
4) Photography

Somewhat a pity that Painting is in the second semester, which will replace Drawing. I actually have other courses, like Anatomy, Prob and Stat, English, Religion, ect. as well. Started off with about 9 classes, but I slimmed it down to about 8 in total. In addition, Studio Art takes away 4 of my free periods, so technically I'm running on only ONE free period in my entire schedule cycle. Especially at our school, that's equal to death/no life lol. I'm also going to help run the anime club this year too.

I guess my next art endeavors will lead me once again to National Portfolio Day here in NYC at Pratt Institute. So until then~

I forgot to mention! SVA ended on the 24th. :/
I have a week to relax before SAT classes start again for me, ugh. I'm going to miss it so much...everything about it, perhaps! Five random things I'll miss?

1) I met some awesome artists/people and other anime fans there such as who is MORE AWESOME THAN ME. (and a great cosplayer too! Check out her gallery!) >:333


2) Drawing naked peoplez for 6 hours, which magically made us better drawers somehow! 8D Well, I think we really have to owe it to Tim, our teacher. I don't think I'll ever encounter a dancing drawing teacher like him, unless I go there for college and have him. *crosses fingers*

3) Blunt, yet awkward comments and critique from our main illustration teachers. ~_~

4) Breakdancing/b-boying in the back of the classroom in the morning and at the Monkey bar lounge at lunch and after school.

5) Being so indecisive with finding a place to eat during lunch. (or paying more than we should of when we eat somewhere)

Other things that didn't make it into the top 5:
- Almost getting kicked off the bus because my metrocard decided to go empty on me + 2 hour trips getting there/home, despite the city being 30 min. away
- Jess's Bakery w/ all my favorite (Asian snack) food lol
- our random conversations
- Being called "short" by basically everyone, literally
- Going to the art store 8 times a day (in essence, spending my weekly allowance at the art store per day)
- Mongolian flu - when everybody in the program, particularly our class was sick basically; not a real disease, inside joke
- overworking in the studio for extra hours
- pulling all-nighters on our projects sometimes
- a washing machine apparently went on fire in the dorms!
- Rap battles (lol)
- HIPSTERS EVERYWHERE...no, you aren't cool guys.

I'm going to post my main two projects up soon, as well as possible sketches, wip, and studies. I really had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and hope I can get in there for college.

It can be in either musical or lyrical terms, but I'm sort of leaning towards lyrical. Also if possible, can you include a lyric from that song that you think gives the most impact? (example: In the End - "In the end, it doesn't even matter...") The song could be from any era or time of LP.

Well, it finally starts today: Pre-College at School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC. I'm taking Illustration and am in section A, so hey if you're in the same one as me! It's going to be for three weeks and I really hope I improve and learn a lot from this. I can't say much on being in NYC because I, uh, live around here already lol. I'm commuting and navigating the city on my own finally, so I guess that's sort of a new experience.

Also, I went to 4 art stores across NYC yesterday and did not find an Aquabee 14x17. (Pearl Paint, Blick, Lee's Art Store, Da Vinci Art Supply, and AC Moore here in NJ) Ironically enough, it was only sold at the art store down the block from SVA and they won't have any until next week. I seriously bet all the kids who moved into the dorms today bought them all. It was the only stack of sketchbooks gone! Overall, I'm excited, but a bit nervous and might be intimidated by more talented people lol. But I can't wait!

So sorry if I don't reply soon or anything. I'll try to post up art during it, especially if they're projects or something. I doubt this will affect any of my time on the internet(lol), but you know, just to give a heads up before then.

Summer Vacation
So summer vacation starts tomorrow for me, you guys.
Just a heads up, I'll be taking an Illustration Pre-College course at School of Visual Arts in NYC for 3 weeks in July. I hope to improve and also meet new artists and people lol. I'll certainly post whatever projects or progress done there. Until then, I'll have two weeks to play, draw, go on vacation, and most importantly: sleep.

AnimeNEXT
I went on Saturday only. But it was a blast. As said before, I cosplayed as Yui from K-ON and my brother was Krauser from Detroit Metal City. My cousin also tagged along and wore her lolita dress. It's so different going to a convention in cosplay! People took pictures and lol I have to admit I didn't know how to pose. I carried my friend's Stratocaster guitar because my parents didn't allow us to bring our own Gibson. (which is what Yui uses) But Krauser apparently uses a Stratocaster, so it sort of worked out in the end. _{Also: You newbs! D: (people @ ANext) I can't believe not many of you recognized who we were!}

Notable things:
- New place, Garden State Exhibit Center. Was bigger. Too spread out though.
- Was humid and hot like crazy. Not good for makeup. My brother's face was cracking lol.
- Thanks for the photographers who took photos of us. Uh, just post them up now!
- People came up to me to see my guitar and no, I will not give it to you. (lol it's not even mine! It's broken anyways) However, the best thing said to me was from a dealer: "Hey, if you think your guitar too heavy to carry around and need someone to babysit it, I'll be happy too. I'll even give you free Yaoi."
- The video game rooms were split up into classic, new generation, music games, and DDR. Very convenient, more space, very well organized. They had Pop'n Music 12 Iroha set up, so I played a few songs. There was also IIDX Troopers, but I didn't get a chance to play.
- Some really good cosplay there! There was an amazing pair of Milk cosplay there too!
- I participated in the Para Para Workshop. Really fun and a great work out. I probably need to start dancing it again.

Well, I still have a week and a half of school left including exams. But I'll be attending AnimeNEXT on Saturday June 13, I believe with my brother, cousin, and possibly a few friends from school. Anybody else going? ^^ So I think it will be my first time cosplaying at a con and also my brother.

Somehow my brother convinced me to do it, because it was his idea first. So I'll be helping him with his costume too. This is who we hope to go as:

Brother: Johannes Krauser II from D.M.C. (Detroit Metal City)

I'm dead serious! Funny thing is, I just remembered they parodied Krauser in one of the episodes of K-ON lol. I also think my brother planned this out! >D He teases me because he thinks I'm a lot like Yui and also resemble her. But I'll admit, I unfortunately succumb to food and always had the same hairstyle as her when she was a little girl. So yeah, he wants me to go with castanets and everything. I have to cut my hair a bit then. See you there.

Still some time until summer break though. Anyways, I'll be having finals quite soon, but I'm happy that AP's are over lol. School has been quite a joke ever since. I mean, I've done nothing really in my classes the past few days or so. The weather is looking rather lovely too.

Aside from that, I'm probably going to start some stuff for AnimeNEXT, but it depends. I can't wait though. Oh yeah, I also became sort of a vice-president/assistant for Anime Club at my school next year. :3

Art wise, I've been honestly out of it for the past few weeks. Finals and AP Exams are coming up and my schoolwork is really taking up almost all of my time. It's like a never ending pile of work and study. I'm trying to relax as much as I can in my free time, so I've been sketching and doodling a lot to compensate. I also took the SAT yesterday morning and I think I died a little inside. It wasn't that bad, but still I'm pretty scared because I feel like I didn't do my best. There's also a few contests I'm interested in, so I might enter those.

I'm in the first photo! They caught the back of my head lol. I'm the back-head person on the left, while the back-head person on the right is actually my Mom. My works are also hanging in a few photos, see if you can spot them! Unfortunately...I ended up giving up a few of my older works because I didn't finish the series I was planning to give in before the deadline. I am though, trying to finish them now. Personally, I think they're pretty badass...or at least pretty cool. It sucks that I didn't finish them in time. *goes to corner* OTL

However, I'd say that the Open Reception was a success and I would like to congratulate all the artists and staff at APW Gallery for this wonderful experience. It was a nice space and the works were amazing. I hope to participate in their future shows one day.

This only is the beginning for me! I only want to work harder at my art and get better. I think after this, I'm inspired and motivated even more.

"Sketch it Out" Exhibition

I've been meaning to say this for a while, but I'm participating in my first art group exhibition: "Sketch It Out" held at APW Gallery in Long Island City, Queens, NYC. It's a show featuring drawings of all kinds. However, it brings the old and new talent together, a total of 200 artists around the world. From what I've seen, some of the other artists are already in professional studios or work independently.

So what am I doing, participating in this show? Well, I don't know entirely and I guess I'm just taking my chances. They sent me an email first saying they saw my work online, which I assume wasn't here, and asked me to participate in it. As for the artwork, the only limitations we had were to draw on paper 8" by 11" or smaller and up to 5 works. So I decided to make completely new artwork. I'm in the middle of 2 drawings and from the looks of it, no digital work as of now. There will also be a winner who will get the opportunity to have a solo exhibition there. I doubt I'll win, but I'm glad enough to be in this.

APW Gallery
APW Gallery is a fairly new gallery, as a matter of fact. They started off in Lower East Side last year and have recently relocated to Queens for a bigger space. They seem to promote the more "underground" type of art, like custom toy designs, skateboard decks, vinyl records, stickers, t-shirts, ect. In the past, they even had a graffiti show. Yet, I think it's cool how they also bring in fine artists to display their work and participate in these type of things. Currently, there are 3 other upcoming exhibitions where they're looking for artists to participate in. You don't necessarily have to live in the NYC area and you can mail in your work. Happy Birthday to me, I guess.
I'm turning 17, but I feel old. It's a bit scary. Everything has been going good so far. Then again, I have been sleeping the morning hours through. Weather forecast said it is very warm today, but it is still going to rain a bit. My SAT practice test went alright yesterday and turns out my best friend is in the same course as me too! lol, I mean what a coincidence! I also met a new friend and I wonder if she has a deviantART too! Columbia University has such a nice campus.

I haven't even been there yet! Plus, I always wanted to go to Bowlmanifest and hoped Des-ROW would come to perform here in the US! (BOWLING + BEMANI = HEAVEN FOR ME) D8

My hopes have been crushed. This is the end to arcades in the East Coast, I swear. (like we had any in the first place) Yes, there's 8otB here in NJ, but the rest of my family probably swore never to go there after my first Pop'n AC experience lol. It's going to be VERY hard for me to play any other Bemani than the little number of DDR machines we have left. Here's hoping that the DJ Max Technika location test makes it to NYC at least.

RIP Jason Michael Borenstein aka MICHAEL A LA MODE.

This is very sad.
...but HOLY CRAP. His death was totally unexpected.

"Jason Michael "Stillwind" Borenstein, known to the Bemani community as not only the recent audio director for Dance Dance Revolution in Japan, but also the famous face of Michael A La Mode in Tutorial Mode for Beatmania IIDX, passed away on Saturday night, February 7, 2009, of a ruptured abdominal aorta.

He worked at Konami of Hawaii until 2006 as audio director of the XBox DDR series. When the Hawaii office was closed down, he was given the opportunity to move to Tokyo and work directly with the Konami of Japan. He since lent his help to DDR SuperNOVA 2 and DDR X...He was a very easygoing, laid back guy who always knew how to bring a smile to people's faces. He left us far too soon, and will be dearly missed.

YES. I got my laptop back. They fixed a couple of things. I just asked them to replace the latch for it's lid, but the fan went haywire, it crashed as it was getting set up, and they ended up replacing it and the HDD all together after I sent it in a second time. So probably that's why it smelled like it was burning before. *still worried*

But it's running great. It's alot better (and quieter) than the loaner I got. Oh well, I really missed it. I just have to reinstall all my software again. UNLIMITED DRAWING TIME YOU GUYS. ;v;

- I renewed my Linkin Park Underground membership for LPU 8 and got the standard membership this time with the fan pack and all. I especially can't wait for my t-shirt and "MMM...COOKIES" CD to come in the mail. lmao

- I got a haircut. I look like Rihanna, or at least I did. It's a bit grown out from Christmas break and is around shoulder level. I want to get it cut and re-layered again though. I miss my hair tail in the back of my head. ;~;

- Midterms are coming up. OTL

- My laptop has to be sent back in again for another 2 weeks. Make that 3 with midterm exams. Apparently it overheated and the fan went haywire as it was getting set up again. So I'll try to make best of this loaner.

- The deadline for Blueprint (my school's art/literary magazine) is coming up really soon. I tend to do traditional work for this, so expect a portrait or two in the next few weeks (hopefully!)

(Personally I thought it was quite fast. Then again, it's been 2 months or so since the last one. XD)

Well...
My laptop had to get sent back in to get wiped and for physical damage from back in the summer lol. I'm using a loaner at the moment, which is luckily the model that the freshmen and sophomores use in my school. But it SUCKS.

At least, for the fact it is a loaner. I can't download or install anything easily, so that cuts off any art programs, drivers, and other multimedia really. This tablet PC doesn't have any pen sensitivity in any online applet, so I can't draw oekaki or tegaki so great either. Other than that, I despise how the keyboard is so loud when I type as well as the fact it beeps loud when I put it in standby. But yeah, I can't scan anything either. Such a pain.

They said I won't be getting it back in school before vacation (next week), so apparently I'll get it sent directly to my house a week later...

I want my laptop back. T^T

But yep. I got a letter from Montclair State University College of the Arts saying that I got a positive review from the faculty on National Portfolio Day and that I've already passed their portfolio requirement.

So I'm basically halfway there.
Thinking about what happened though, I was in bit of a shock when I first saw the letter. It was obviously from the College of the Arts, but from of the Office of the Dean and my address was hand written as opposed to a sticker or typed. It wasn't until I opened it and saw "Congratulations Carla!" in bold print and immediately knew what it meant.

Strangely enough, I was with my Mom in our car driving to pick up my brother from his college when I read it. My Mom handed it to me as we were walking out the door. At least my Mom finally has some belief in me and I'm relieved even further in terms of getting into college.

Other things that surprised me were:

1) I'm still a Junior in high school and I really didn't think any college there would take my portfolio seriously just yet.

2) WTF?! I thought the rep was being so rude to me back then. I didn't even think she liked my stuff. Whether or not she purposely questioned my seriousness about art to test my commitment and willingness to learn, that wasn't cool! Most of all, I find this really funny since she's apparently an actual faculty member of the school. I was so sure she was checking off the "NO" box on the evaluation section of my form. Then I get this letter lol. xD

Ah, just shows how hard on myself I can be. -v-

Overall, I'm happy!

I would like to thank everybody for their prayers!
It means alot for our family. Unfortunately, we can't make it to the Philippines for the funeral next week. It was actually possible for us to leave since we have vacation then. However, it's mainly due to the costs and jet lag that come along with it, even if it were just my Mom and uncle traveling there. So instead, we just decided to send money back home. We're sorry that we personally can't be there, but we send our prayers and condolences as well.

Honestly, this is really the first time I've lost someone close to me and was clearly aware of it, but I will continue to stay strong. If you really want to know, my real grandparents all died before I was born or was still a baby, which is why I really consider her as my grandmother. My best memory of her had to be when she came to stay at our house for a whole summer and she read my manga collection to go to sleep. I know it really doesn't sound much, but that really stuck out in my mind recently.

On a brighter note, Linkin Park's Road to Revolution DVD/CD comes out tommorow, so I'm happy at the same time. It's weird.

On a better note, it really told me where I stood as an artist in the pool of applicants and what stuff I should probably bring next year. Mainly, paintings. That's a medium I don't have much experience with, but I'm sure that I'd be able to express myself fully once I do. It's really something I've always wanted to use and probably is the key proving to these college how much I want to get in, if not subject matter itself.

The critiques were pretty much the same. Though the level of actually liking my art was a bit different from the four schools I visited.

Getting there:
I originally planned to leave at around 8-9am or so to beat the traffic and lines, but we left at 10am. It's really disappointing that both of my parents weren't willing to be there with me, even if they were standing somewhere else while I was in line. The people who actually went with me were my cousin's family. My uncle (architect), aunt (freelance interior designer), and cousin (prospective fashion design student). My other cousin was with me too, but he's here studying in the US to be a physical therapist, so he has an idea of what this admissions process feels like and was interested in seeing the colleges. He also tags along with me when my brother can't be there.

Alot of people had their parents with them, even if it were to just take pictures of their children in line or to help them hold their portfolio and listen to their review. Seriously, it also shows the kind of support I'm getting from my parents...

The Line
We actually got there at 11:20 or so. The line was pretty long when we got there, but it got longer as the time went by. They let people in at least 30 min. later than the time originally said, which was 12pm. However, I did look around at other students and what they were carrying. Pratt was, I guess, surveying how many people went. We had to sign how many people were in our party, as well as students within them, and gave them back in. They also gave us a map and simple brochure on Portfolio Day. I also realized how heavy a portfolio is, even with mostly drawings in them. My left arm was hurting at the end of the day. I also felt sorry for the guy with his father in front of me. They were speaking in a different language, but they switched into English enough times for me to figure out that his Dad didn't really want his son there and kept on talking him out of it. I think he was even mocking us (the students in line) as well. You know, I'm pretty sure that's how my Mom would have acted too.

Cooper Union
My first choice. The crème de la crème, you can say. Guess what? It was in the back. (lol ~kupocake, they were smart and put all the popular schools in the back) Despite that, it had a long line. Though, they went by number and you could have left and checked in. I just stayed in line, but I was #61. I've probably stood an estimated 40 min. for a 5 min. review. ([link]) Wow. Oh yeah, Cooper pretty much rejected me right then and there, but at least they said it in a nice way. They didn't bash my art at least. They just directed me somewhere else. I kind of expected it though. My rep was a woman, but around middle age.

Yes, I want you to critique anything you like in my gallery. Make sure they're constructive and actually helpful though. I'll also ask a general set of questions to help you. Well, technically I'm sick.
Anyways, I'm just preparing for National Portfolio day, which will be held here in New York City on Saturday at Pratt Institute on thier Brooklyn Campus. Yeah I'm still a Junior in high school, but I figured it'd be good to see what I need to work on a year beforehand. Even if I don't visit all the schools I want to, I still have next year and hopefully I'll take whatever advice I get this year and improve by then. Just trying to get some studies and sketches in, maybe a piece here and there.

Mostly what I'm hearing is that there's big lines. Considering that this is for NYC, haha oh shit. I'll be sure to get their early. I believe I'm taking the subway or I might get dropped off. Wow, maybe I'll get sicker than I am now. Anyways, there's only 4 hours so I figure I should visit my top choices first. Here's the list of schools I'm interested in, from top choice first:

1) Cooper Union School of Art, New York, NY
2) Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY
3) Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ
4) School of Visual Arts, New York, NY
5) Parsons the New School for Design, New York, NY
6) Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY
7) Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA

As much as I hate it, it'd might be best for me to go to the line for Cooper Union first. I'm scared they're going to rip me to shreds and tell me how horrible I am as an artist. I heard they're pretty blunt with their critiques. Word is they also don't appreciate anime, illustration, animation, or an art style that is too defined...and that's kind of where I'm at. it's just very hard to see what they're truely looking for other than in the field of "fine arts". It's really a hard school to get into, but I'll take my chances.

Yeah, the last three schools are questionable: Parsons, FIT, and Art Center. My relatives heavily discouraged me from attending Parsons and FIT mainly because they are more fashion design driven (duh) and they don't see them as "colleges". Actually, even SVA is on that category with my parents.

I want to just visit Art Center mainly because uh...Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn of Linkin Park went there. xD; I know that's absolutely not a valid reason, but I guess it's also because I want to see something outside of the East Coast. You never know, they might think differently than the schools here. Even so, I don't think my family will ever fund me going there, not even in my dreams! It'd be funny if I actually do visit and somehow they consider me for application.

^ LMAO! You know what would kill my chances with them? I'm sure they'll notice my Linkin Park portraits, especially since I'm brining that one of Mike and I'm sure they'll get the reason why I'm there. XD

Even if these schools say some harsh critiques, I'll try to heal quickly and work my ass off for anything. I'm not sure if I'll put any of the pieces I might work on for this here, but just keep an eye out for them. Wish me luck.

Today in 2000, Linkin Park released their debut album Hybrid Theory to the masses. Love you guys.

That was 8 years ago and I'm 16 now, so I was 8 years old at the time. Yeah, I'm obviously one of their younger fans. Like most people, I got into Linkin Park after hearing "One Step Closer". I loved the bridge and I remember seeing Mike Shinoda for the first time in the video and was like: "Woah, if that guy has red hair, why can't I?!"

I guess someone hated it so much to donate their Frat Party at the Pankake Festival DVD to a local library shortly after it was released. My Dad came home one day with it and went: "Oh Linkin Park...you like them right? Here." I was 9 then and let's just say it changed my life. It was when I had my first crushes with Mike Shinoda and Mr. Hahn. <3 Other than the tour footage, I also saw the full videos of "Papercut," "In the End," and "Crawling."

"Crawling" in particular has a special place in my heart, mainly because it was the first song I listened to and could actually relate to. Actually, I literally cried when I first heard it. Watching the video, I myself am a very insecure person and as a child, didn't exactly have the best life could offer. Now I'm suffering through panic attacks every now and then and that changes the meaning of the song entirely. You can see the video here.

You know what? Fine, I'll tell you now. As a child, I didn't have friends. I was bullied, both verbally and physically. I was ignored. People called me ugly to my face. I hated the fact I have to live with scars all over my body. I hated that I was considered different. I hated to to be me. It may be all the opposite now, but that's the truth.

I hated that no one was there to talk to. Though, Linkin Park was there. They spoke to me through their music and their sense of humor brought a smile to my face. Also, from the previous circumstances, that's why I started to draw. I couldn't express myself well verbally and I was just going through so much shit back then. I would have completely disappeared as a person if no one had noticed me through my drawings. Plus, Mike and Joe serve as one of my many inspirations.

Even until now, I love LP for that. Happy Birthday Hybrid Theory!

I'm actually quite scared because other than AP Art History, my classes are alot easier than usual. That's just wrong. D:

Anyways, I got my laptop reimaged and actually backed up my work this time, lol. I can say it runs faster than before, even with most of the files back on it. Only thing I have to complain about is that my internet browsers seem screwed up a bit. They kind of lag both in school and at home, sometimes freeze up, and the settings are strange. I really dread the fact I didn't save a list of all the bookmarks/favorites I had. (mostly because it had awesome fanart sites) ;o;

I really hope to get some time to draw soon...at least to update Froggy up to where I stopped writing its draft. Stupid homework. T3T

Well, school starts for me next Thursday.
Junior in high school, apparently the hardest year of them all. Though I do have to go through looking at colleges I may want to go to. Luckily I already have a few in mind. Plus, SAT prep as well as testing. At least I got my community service requirement and driving out of the way. (Yes, I got my permit already) >_>

I got into AP Art History this year and I'm actually looking foward to it. It's a combination of my two most favorite subjects, well not exactly lol. I don't have to take Hummanities though. As for my other subjects, nothing out of the ordinary and I hope Physics is fun. Honestly, I loved Chemistry class last to death year, possibly because we had such an awesome teacher.

You don't know how much I wanted to get the upperclassmen uniform. Hahaaa...no one will ever mistake me as a Freshman again.

I'm also loving Des-ROW's new hair. HE LOOKS COOLER WITH HIS BLACK HAIR, ALTHOUGH HALF OF IT IS DYED. OMGZ I WENT TO THE MALL AND A GUY LET ME TRY EXTENSIONS ON AND MAI HAIR LOOKED LIKE HIS. 8D

I also got a Japanese staight perm for my retarded hair finally! An extra hour of sleep in the morning before school lol.

Has anybody ever been to a Dir en Grey concert? They're going on a tour here in the US soon and I'm interested in going to one of thier shows. Seriously, I've been told that they put on a great show. Thing is, I've never been to a J-rock (visual-kei) concert before, but I've seen people with tour t-shirts. I just want to sort of know how they work out, if differently at all. XDD

A PART OF MY LIFE HAS BEEN COMPELTED.

I attended the Linkin Park press conference today at Champs Sports in Times Square, NYC. I got to see Mike Shinoda and Phoenix up close during it! Totally made up for not being able to attend yesterday's Projekt Revolution show here in NJ! I was literally spazzing after I saw the announcement on LP.com/Myspace/my email! XD

I went with my cousin and my Mom to watch us. I'd say we arrived at the store around 10:30am and there was already a line of fans! It wasn't that bad though, I realized we were actually more in the front as it grew longer. It was funny because so many people came up to us and asked why we're waiting. Suddenly a staff member came out and said that the store would gradually take in 12 people at a time and it will only be for taking photos.

A few minutes passed and Mike and Phoenix came out!! My cousin and I rushed back to the window to watch when waiting our turn. LOL, Mike turned toward all of us watching and said: "Look at all the people waiting in line outside!" This is when I'm waving back at him and giggling uncontrollably with my camera in my hand. My Mom came back a few seconds later, and this being the first time she saw Mike Shinoda:

It was probably 3 min. after I took that picture that we were allowed in. AAAAH, Mike and Phoenix are so cute/handsome in real life!! They kept on laughing and smiling the whole time. We had a 3 min. time limit to be inside, but we managed to come in a second time and watched it until they recieved the check. Of course, everybody was too absorbed in taking pictures that no one really listened closely. However, I remember one question involved baseball and Phoenix was hesistant to answer because he actually said he was a Boston Red Sox fan. (haha boooo~) Seriously, one of the most amazing moments of my life.

I have no idea if it were some fans or the media, but they started signing some autographs. Unforutunately a guard caught us before we snuck up to them, darnit lol! Even after they left, we stayed because my Mom needed to buy a new pair of working shoes. As we were exiting, I'd say an hour after they left, one of the workers was about to take off the poster they hung up. I asked if I could take it and he first laughed and said he already asked his manager to take it himself. Luckily I spotted a better one on the other side, which gave him the idea of taking that one instead, resulting me in getting the first poster! So yeah, I got the poster and am probably the only person/fan who has one!! (once again, don't take off the tags!)

Well, I'd say around 2000 or something I was still quite the moderate DDR player, I was looking around DDRFreak and saw the whole section on other Bemani games. I remember reading about Pop'n Music and found that it appealed to me the most, other than IIDX. Yes, then I obsessed over it and finally played the CS version at AnimeNEXT in 2005. It wasn't until 2007, however, that I finally got my own copy to play.

2. Who's your all time favorite character?
I'd say FlowFlow or Roku.

3. Pop'n Music has tons of characters. For fun, try and name all your favorites!

Haha, at AnimeNEXT 2005 was the first time I've ever played Pop'n Music and it was on an ASC too. I started battling random people and this experienced guy challenged me all of a sudden. I think we were playing MISSA-REMI and I actually won. He was really mad about it and left soon after.

Hey, hey remember that doujin (fan comic) I posted here waaaaaay back when I started here at DA based off my dream, called "Valentine's Day?"

Well, I found it lying in my stack of folders. It sucks when you find out how much you suck, or did suck. A well-needed remake looks very tempting, mostly to compare my progress until now. Coincidentally, Linkin Park has a song called "Valentine's Day" on MTM, so remembering the lyrics, I went WTF at how they resemble the feeling and plot of the story greatly.

So...uh, anybody want to see that? Even if you don't agree or ignore this question, too bad! I'm probably gonna redraw some stuff anyways. XD

Past week, I was up in New England.
Alot of fun, really different atmosphere actually. I did get homesick towards the end though.

Anyways, I'll be in Las Vegas next week. I've been there 2 times before. The only disappointment is that they took away the ParaPara and IIDX from Circus Circus, which is where I'm staying. Eh...I even remembered I'm scared of clowns just now. I guess the amusement park/arcade will keep me occupied anyways. More or less, we'll be going around too. Oh, I really want to visit Hard Rock and see Mike's keyboard and the other LP instruments donated!!

It's also sad that I won't be able to go to Projekt Revolution this summer either. They performed here yesterday and will again on Wednesday. Someone, at least get me the show poster. D:!

Anyways, I had another short moment of bliss after listening to some Des-ROW, notably D. Like seriously I've realized again: I FUCKING LOVE DES-ROW.

I can say that probably you have to have a certain taste for his work. Gah, but still...I don't understand one word he's saying, but the music really gets to me. Probably, it's the same for other countries. To think it was produced as video game music too.

Plus, I find his music very suitable for summer. I think it really relates to my memories of how determined I was to complete the collection of his songs up until now. I'd always search high and low once I found news of his songs. Haha, wow.

He always brings a smile to my face.

Happy 4th of July!
(for the peeps in the US)

I forgot that I'm still awake. I am pretty sure my family's having a BBQ later to celebrate...so I still have to clean my room. =.=;

I just finished off my community service hours for school yesterday too. I volunteered in a summer camp at a local nature center. The kids were cute and there was a huge difference between the Grade 1-2 kids and Grade 3-4 kids, mostly in noise level. xD I had a Japanese boy named Hayato in the second week, he was so cute. Though this one kid was really inappropiate though and certainly raises some questions from his actions, if you know what I mean...

Ahh, I had alot of fun though. Even if I'm trippin-er, walking trails every single day, it's good exercise really. Plus, it's surprisingly peaceful just being there. So quiet and the breeze is nice from the shady trees. It was basically a repeat of my Biology class, if I must say.

BEST VIDEO CONCEPT. LIKE EVER
Fushigida Nippon, which I think translates to "Mysterious Japan," is pure awesome. The song itself has so many layers and variations, that it's a bit hard to keep up. Some parts would kill if I could play them on the piano. From what I hear, it is: Des-ROW, Yoshitaka, Death-O, YU, and possibly 96-chan. I don't hear mur.mur. whatsoever.

If you kind of going WTF at the video, I think I figured it out...(took me a few watches though):
Basically, the whole video is somewhat the nightmare/dream of the three kids walking in the beginning. They're screwing around with playing cards and happen to drop one on the sand. (which have a huge resemblence to Yu-Gi-Oh cards) Soon after, Des-ROW and Yoshitaka jump out of them representing the "monsters" of the cards. The whole segment of them running around is basically them searching for the kids. Towards the end, we see Des' head pop out as well as Yoshitaka trying to eat the kids as they're running way. However, we find them to wake up realizing it was just a dream. I think 96-chan also appears in one of the shots too.

However, is this just a sign that Des-ROW wants to eat "kids," meaning his fans?

Seriously, AND I WASN'T THERE. D:
Once again, my brother has managed to get into the limelight. This happened when he attended a Hideo Kojima signing for MGS4 at UNIQLO in SoHo(NYC).

My brother intended to have the MGS x UNIQLO t-shirt he bought to be signed. Yet the bouncer said Kojima wouldn't sign t-shirts, but anything else. Searching his bag, he only found his bag of Wasabi flavored Doritos and gave it to him to sign. Everybody on line either laughed or clapped at his action and even Kojima started laughing at him. He signed it and the camera crew pulled my brother aside for an interview and to leave a personal message for Kojima, which will most likely be shown to him and later online and translated into Japanese.

Just know if my brother manages to become an internets meme or something: I'm his sister.
