Without her [link] Univers d'Artistes couldn't be who he is. Forget it !

Too much work, because too many talents...

Let's begin by the beginning. Between us, we call Univers d'Artistes our baby. Yes, we're a little crazy. He had a dad, me, Chris, alone, overbooked, more and more absent, tired, and he quickly missed his mother. So much of course. (By the way, Univers d'Artiste he's a boy, don't ask me why. And he wanted a feminine touch, a lot of tender words written by someone he loves).

Thanks to her, I can quit my "atelier" without to be worried. She's there. She takes care of him like a true Mary Poppins joined with the most tender attention of The Petit Prince for his rose. She loves him so much.

She began as a Contributing Editor. Her words and her life talked to me. Then, less than 6 months later, I knew she deserved more... I was under her charm. She logically became the first Artistic Director of Univers d'Artistes.

Her commitment, her passion, the strength we daily share to promote all these artists we love so much, the creators, photographers and art models, painters and writers (yes, you can shoot, paint and write with the same beauty), all that deserved to be thanked. So, logically again, I gave her all the keys of the heart of my baby (technical translation : the codes and the administrator rank) who immediately loved deeply his new mother. And we're now a true family, with indefectible links.

For those who don't know, I have a multiple sclerosis. And when I'm down, when my wheelchair is smiling of me, she's there.
I know I can rest, she's there. She's always there. Sharing all my up and downs ! And my passions ! Not a day without a message between us ! And so many thoughts when I'm hospitalized for a new symptom... She's there. Always. Talented, winner of the great Fluffytek Award as the best writer of the year.
She knows what she's writing about. She models, she writes, she teaches and takes care of her wonderful garden... and Sunny. She's an incredible woman, she's my partner, and I confess it, my energy.

So, Unbearable Lightness [link] (that's so true !) is the new Editor in Chief of Univers d'Artistes !

The hospital.

What is funny, it's that the 18th is my birthday day and my favorite one, magical, I'll tell you one day. To make short, I see the beginning of a rebirth.

The hospital, yes... But for the best ! What could I ask more ? They told it. To recover a little of my strength, to welcome back some movements I can't do anymore, to work with my body, inside, to love him again... He needs my help.

Unbearable Lightness, my partner and my mirror, and all the UdA Art Editors, wow ! you're so great !, will take care of what we call with UL "our baby". Our backstage joke. Full of love.

Dear Readers,

I have just had one of those rare opportunities to actually spend time with Chris St James in his city of Marseille, France, and I can tell you that this man has a heart of gold.

Most of you know him as the person who promotes your art. What you should know is my husband and I found out first hand and how, by sharing time and thoughts with Chris, we have come to understand the human (not cyber) side of Chris St James.

What my husband and I found most inspirational is his passion for people, not only the artist but people from all walks of life. Most of us know Chris as the man behind this site and the attention he pays to the artist. What you may or may not know is that this not only comes from his heart but also out of his desire to create something extremely nice for all of us.

What I want you to know is - never take advantage of Chris. He is there for the artist yet, as he writes, he is ill. His illness can be painful. I saw this first hand, and I know many of you probably read about it on his site, but in all reality you cannot comprehend it unless you see it first hand.

Yet, he pursues on where many would not. He drives himself where many would stop, and he creates where many would say, "I am too ill for this."

I found this so inspiring.

I wanted you to know that, as an artist I know when pain pushes one forward, and in the case of Chris St James, it is this pain that he suffers daily that drives him to do what he does for all of us.

So, with great admiration and respect, I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for the time we shared and the work that was accomplished and with an understanding of a man with a heart of gold.

I know it's not well to ask. I know... My daddy told me that when I was young, so many times : "you're a boy, a warrior, no tears, no request, all by yourself !". But now I know it's not the good way. My MS has learned me that we can't make nothing alone. And it's the pure truth ! What would we be without the others ?...

The 18th of august, I'll be 50. Wow ! Already... Anyway, I'm renovating my "atelier", putting colors everywhere, in yellow and blue tones of course, I'm a mediterannean !

So, that said, even if it's bad to ask, and forgive me to be so direct, I would love to decorate my home with your dedicated artworks. For this so special birthday, this is my wish. This is my dream : you in my home, in my heart, forever.

My favorites are... How could I say ? Without complication ? And too many compliments. ... So many.
My favorites are not an hazard.
Sometimes it's just a simple and very talking "Wow!", nothing really explicable. All is there. The model at her place. The light how she must be. With an idea. Clear. Nothing else to say than : "WOW!".
Sometimes I need to stop a little more. There is something that appeals me but I don't see why. I ask myself : "why this picture captures my attention ?" Sometimes I need a stop. Because there is something hidden in this piece of art that I absolutely want to find.
It's like writing. Evidence and research. OK, I see. OK, I search. What I hide behind my words.
My favorites are all these sometimes.
So, for those of you, like me, who are waiting for a comment, this encouragement we all need so much, forgive me. ... Maybe am I too lazy to compliment each of your wonderful photographs that I want to keep in mind ?... For sure. Anyway, a huge BRAVO to each of you.

I don't remember what war it's about. And I don't want, "war" doesn't make part of my vocabulary. He's banished. And you won't find him in my books. Never.

I just remember that too many people died before this date, and after, again and again, for nothing, as usual.

Is it the 1914 war of the 1939 one ? It doesn't matter, there are so many wars in our world. And so many dead people since, and before, and after. The wars are everywhere. Till our home.

In this celebration day, in France, I don't know what happens in your country the 8th of May, I just want to talk about Life.

On our earth, the war is not over. And men, troubled children playing with true guns, don't want to see that all is question of love. Women know it. When men kill what they brought into the world. Women know what is Life.

In this particular day, in France and in all the countries where families lost their father, their brother, son and daughter, everybody under a bomb, I just want to talk about Beauty.

And these pictures must remind us the power of the women.... The Power of Love.

What could I add ? That you're great ? That you're a wonderful artist ? That you're so good that you make me speechless ? Words, words...

As an editor, and a writer, I don't like to repeat myself. And there is an essential rule in writing : be as short as possible or don't write.

The day where NUDE is on Times Square, [link] Univers d'Artistes is censored. And we'll all be censored, one by one.

In our crazy world where so many people (and children !) prefer to watch bloody soaps and insane news instead of beauty and grace, to make war instead of love, to buy arms instead of flowers, sometimes I don't really feel at home.

Freud and Jung have called the censors' mental disorders : the sexual repression. To be clear, they prohibit what they want the more, hardly repressing their own natural pulsions because of foolish religious or/and cultural dogmas. What a poor way to live...

To celebrate this event, because the struggle against censorship is a wonderful cause, I've found these quotes. They give us hope and confidence.

What are we waiting for ?...

As a former event planner, I must confess that I don't understand this "silence". Is there a good reason ?... Something I don't know ?

HELP WANTED :
for planning, contest judging, prize giving, and participation.

It has come to my attention as well as many other members of the community that there has been a lot of recent disrespect towards models mostly in the forms of rude and/or inappropriate comments aimed towards their bodies, and a lack of recognition of the model being part of the artistic process.

In the name of community awareness, and respect for models and their artistic contribution to this community, I would like to hold a week of recognition for the models on deviantART.

We will aim for this week to happen in early February. This week of activities will be the start of a movement in this community to encourage respectful interactions with all models, no matter their gender, race, size, shape, age, or health status.

I am working to plan a couple of events for the week which include the things listed below, if you have any interest in helping with any of the things listed below please tell me. This is a community effort and would be ineffective with out the communities help.

Stamps and banners
In order to show our support for respecting models properly, it would be great if some individuals skilled in stamp and banner making could take up the task of designing some slick stamps for "respect model" awareness.

Ideas for good models to interview for the planned week interviews. If you know any please refer them to me.

Discussion ideas for the week and areas we can hold them; one event might be held in Flesh: the artistic nude photography forum.

Getting in touch with the larger community, show your support for it, link back to events and other journals that are hosting events, in your journal. The more artists and art watchers we can get involved the better.

Contest : I will need judges and prize donators for the for the contest which will be photography based. Any prize you want to donate will be put in the prize list and credited to you. Here are some prize donation ideas:

*art requests from the winners completed by you
*prints
*other deviantart related accessory prizes
*journal features

Hold your own contest, maybe for a different art style during the week, or host a feature in your journal themed around respect for models.

*Any major contributors will be noted and linked to in the event journals and news.


We will be working on this opening stage of the project till the 5th of January.

During this time from now until 01/05/09, we will be taking the following steps :

- Asking anyone interested to repost this journal, or a link to it, to get word out;
- Making a list of volunteers who offer to make stamps or journal banners;
- Making a list of ideas submitted for contests, discussions, and interviews
- Making a list of volunteers who will organize or judge contests and/or submit prizes

Tomorrow morning...

I'm tired, I'm scared... But that's my life.

As usual, I'll see people close to the death, or simply dying, just near me. And I'll think about my own departure, all the love I've never shown, all what I should have done, I still have to make, before...

I'll see my friends and the devastations of the multiple sclerosis on their legs, arms, lumbs, brains.

I'll hear their complaints, what they wanted to realize, all their stolen dreams. I'll hear them, that's it, because there is nothing to say... No way to help, except to let them talk about their pains.

As usual, I won't sleep, haunting the hospital with my notebook like the Phantom his Opera, hearing people yelling, crying, all night long, hopeless children, women and men, all united by their tears.

And I'll write again about humanity, his hells and heavens.

Maybe, a day, hidden in these thousands pages I've written about the diseases, I'll find The Way... to cure the soul.

I wake up in the morning between 3 and 4 am. And I'm really sad if it's 6... My pills are sometimes so strong.

I immediatly take a coffee, while opening my (so slow, it makes me crazy !) computer.

I check all the mails, I answer everytime, on all my sites.

I make 4 articles per day (but I'm dreaming of 12, at least, I have so many artworks to feature !) (but it could be too heavy for a blog and readers couldn't follow). ... (Yes ? No ?)

2 coffees later...

Time to repair my PC, as slow than a sloth, but I've to make with, a question of money. I check, I erase, I launch all my softwares to go quicker (is it correct ? maybe "to work more quickly ? tell me, I'm french !).
...
(... Please, Mr Santa Claus, I need a new one ! A quicker one... made for Photography...)
... Thanks.

12h00 ? Wow ! Often I forget to lunch, I don't care, later maybe, my work before.

Then I sleep 2 hours (because night was short, because I'm still fragile).

When I wake up I check again all my messages, I answer, and
I prepare the articles for tomorrow.

I forget my own texts, I've 3 books waiting for me, thousands of pages I must correct, read again, and again, and again, until it becomes perfect (foolish goal, isn't it ?).

I check what is new on the web. A nice trip !

Then or maybe before, depending of my heart, I send my requests, the kindest possible, for future interviews, talking to the greatest, the youngest, art is in anyone, watching a thousand pictures per day. At least...

Then, I dine. Maybe.

And watching the TV (argh !), I note (words are so easy to forget...) all my ideas for new articles, new ways to show, new posts to promote Fine Nude artists, something to give them the best vitrine.

Finally, to resume, and make short, I love writing about the artists.
It's my passion, at the same level that my love for the words (what means totally unimaginable ! As if you would want to conceive what is the infinite space...).

I love them, I love to glorify their work.

I don't come out, I'm just working from 4am to 9pm, (?... more !) with all the contributing artists who give me their confidence and their kindness.

What a beauty they bring to the world !

What would be humanity without them ? Their faith, their strength, their passion... Nothing.

They are a wonderful reason to live. They give us Hope.

Because a writer writes for a reader. Generally his/her Muse. As recommended it Nietzsche : a writer has to write for someone. To make his words alive. But... I don't know for who I'm writing.

"You" is too large, "you" is too many people with too many different minds. Nietzsche is right ! "You" means nothing for me... Yes, I don't know who is my muse... She seems so far.

She because she's feminine. I don't like the word "female". In french it's just for animals. My muse is a woman, I'm sure, even if she doesn't exist on this microscopic blue planet, she's has all the charming attribute of the Woman, that I venere.

My site, this space is devoted to Her. All the women who make this life easier and happier, with a strength and a courage no men could approach. To kill someone is easy for a man, to love someone as a woman makes it is another story... The women know everything about the real price of life.

You see, it's exactly what I was saying at the beginnings, words bring me in the deepiest beauty of our world.

Before to write this dedication, I wanted to be clearer with myself. I love so much fine nude art, the artists, that I forget it's also my place, my diary.
I can write here as you make it, with my soul, what I never make on Univers d'Artistes, it's not about myself I'm talking in.

Clearer with myself is to recognize that I'm feeling really really bad. I didn't know how this disease work, but I can tell you that it's incredibly scaring. And so deep...

Every day, I die to myself. My head is perfectly working, I can still be useful, but my body is crashing down. Like Wall Street. I can't work anymore like a 'normal" person. Life becomes more and more difficult.... And so kind to give me the time to write about you, the artists, from who I find new strenghts, and first to keep the faith and go on.

As I told it to a reader, there is always good in bad, and reverse. We call that : the dichotomy. I'm poor outside, I'm rich inside. I can't walk but I can write. All day long. No time, no clocks. If the world is a train, I'm a cow, looking at him pass.

It's my life... And it's raining today... Even in my home...

Sometimes I tell me that my multiple sclerosis comes from her. Yes, my art is female. And a strong one.
Sometimes I believe she wants all from me. Am I the toy of a devouring Muse ?... Like these so numerous artists who have to suffer to create.
Am I a maudite poet ? A being torned between the infinite who yells his name, and the sad human condition in a so sad world, of course, all is a question of mirror.
Why my art never gives me some bucks in return, the way to live from and with ? Why the strength of my dedication drives me nowhere ? Why this bohème life ? My paralysis, my account empty... Is my condition to become an artist is to suffer ?...
I'm so sad tonight. I don't walk anymore, I'm slowly but surely paralyzing a little more, day after day, a so long agony of myself, who I was. Sometimes I feel so bad... All is dark.
I was a traveller ! A crazy walker ! I've... in so many towns, walking wide opened eyes, hours and hours, full of the beauties of our world.
And here I am... All days enclosed in my dolly home. All day long alone... What gives me more and more time to create. Pile et face. Dark and light sides of all human beings life.
Do I feel better knowing that Art is the only way before me ? There is no more escape without my legs.

I write "my" because I feel that we are on the same way, in the same mood, passionate, crazy, and scared, but confident in what we MUST give, and sometimes depressed by the difficulty to make it.

My multiple sclerosis is taking all my strength... My legs don't walk anymore, and my mind is more and more confuse. For these reasons, I can't manage this space as I would want to make it, like before... when I was still able to think, to write, to walk.

I'm sorry for those I never answered. Thanks for your messages, from the botton of my heart.

What could I tell you more ? Life is not a quiet river, but I'm sure I have something to learn about what I live. As said Saint Exupéry : "On ne devient que contre ce qui résiste". Each pain has its own (and good) reason that our reason doesn't understand...

Before to leave, a new time, I send a huge thanks and a big hug to all of you, my dearest Contributing Artists for your so warmful participation (discover them at [link]).

Often people compare me to Saint-Exupery (mmmmh !), or Marc Levy (a french guy living in US). Children love my fairy tales, and the taller ones, my way to tell high what they're thinking in secret, about Love, my favorite theme.
With or without a pen, ball or fountain (I love the idea...), I'm writing day and night, in real life as well as in my dreams.
I've in my head a notebook, and I write everything. Writing is my life, I'll die immediatly without her, and my malediction. Because she doesn't feed me... Not still. Of course. We are numerous artists like that. Even if I'm published (not a big deal without publicity !).

Due to a grave disease, dont' worry I can still write !, I'm paralyzing every day more and more. So I have a plenty of time to write... And write...
I lived 4 years in United States, where I founded tourism companies in San Francisco, New York and Orlando. Thus, sometimes I'm telling me, maybe, I could translate any artist who would want to be known on the french speaking markets (which love all kind of arts). Or maybe, help someone to get traffic on her/his site, I'm pretty good for that.
I won't be very expensive, because I'm not looking anymore for my fortune. I just want to give my time for a noble cause : Art. And going on writing and writing and writing, come what way, until my dying day.

If you're an artist, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
If not, don't forget that to be an artist is not a mind desire, but an involontary vocation which costs a lot of blood and sweat.
