I'm taking the ol' DA gallery down. Yeah, I said it. No dramu-tastic reasons; I'm doing this mostly because I just don't like it floating around out here while I'm not looking. I have some miraculous free time! Portfolios are all turned in, and I feel no pressure to bust my ass on projects anymore. Soooo~I'm going to spend the rest of the semester working on things I enjoy doing, like making badges! I'm now going to put on my business lady suit and advertise myself! What a ho is me!



I will take orders for ten or so badges, all to be completed within the month of April, before the big summer convention season begins. For anyone who has never bought a badge from me before, they are bristol 3" X 4" in size and come laminated in rigid plastic. This year, however, I'm going to step it up (so to speak XD) and include either a spring clip or lanyard with every badge.

Spring break is officially over. Yesterday, I went to death class. Today I have three studios. Not a bad thing at all, but I'm sure going to miss doing absolutely nothing except playing video games. I wish it was spring break every week XD

My portfolio to apply for the illustration department is due in a little under two weeks. Am I stressed? YOU BET. If I don't do anything here for a couple of days, it's because I'm sitting in a studio trying to draw bigger better (smarter faster) versions of my portfolio submissions. Right now, I'm going to get an hour of extra work in on my molding and casting project for sculpture before the actual 2PM studio. Yesterday, Ms. and I went to Best Buy to spend our Christmas money like good nerds. Now, normally, I would put money like this away for rent or school supplies. But my January rent is PAID and I don't have class until the middle of January, SO. I let it burn through my pocket and bought the Pokemon XD Gamecube. I looooooove eet. Everyone should play Gale of Darkness. It's so much fun. It's the 3-D Pokemon RPG every Pokemon fan has wanted. And Shadow Lugia is on the lid. EEEE D:

I also love Best Buy, as I bought the XD Gamecube with a controller and Gale of Darkness included, a memory card, and a wireless controller for exactly $146.97. I dance with joy.

Also, Ms. Fullcircle bought her boyfriend the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, which is awesome.

Oh my LORD.

I'm so extremely sorry for my absence as of late. I just moved and was sans-internet for a few days while a furniature fiasco was sorted out with IKEA. During and since that time I've been working until all I want to do is come home and pass out. I'm...ECSTATIC about classes starting, because that means I'll have many many hours specifically set aside for me to sit on my ass in a classroom and DRAW. I'm so mad about being too tired to stay up and drop something in my sketchbook I could scream. That seems to be the worst of worsts. This is my first morning to myself in about a week (I had Monday off, but I had to drive up to Woodbridge to raise hell at IKEA for giving me half a bed), and the restaurant called me about an hour ago to tell me I needed to come into work because someone was out sick. And like a complete wuss, I agreed, even though I have to close tonight and was going to use my afternoon to run errands. I spend way too much time dropping everything for a job that pays me less than three dollars an hour. I'd better end the shift with at least fifty dollars in my pocket for fucking up my morning. They'd better give me all the time off that I request.

Otakon is one tiny month away, hence my lack of activity during the last week T__T I've been working to make moneh most of the time, and sewing/propmaking in all my other time. Right now, half of me wants to stay up and get some work done on my jewelry for Princess Ai, and my other half wants to have a good round of passing out. I think I should listen to the latter, because I've been ignoring it for the past couple of days and I seem to be getting (what some would call) "sick". Headache, pressured sinuses, difficulty breathing, loss of appetite, dehydration, achey muscles and the like. I need a Sudafed...
What I REALLY need is two more bodies, so I can do everything I love all at once...drawing, sewing, and sleeping.

I think I'll sit in bed and make my jewelry and sketch up my entry for the *Section13 contest, then I'll go to sleep and try not to wake up until I have to go to work. Hopefully, I'll have a couple of things posted by the end of the week...like more Gorillaz fanart and 's Warakia badge that somehow never got finished

I am, what some would call, "back from a lengthy hiatus".

I spent a long time not drawing anything. That sucked. But over the past few days, I've been drawing like mad. Listening to a lot of Gorillaz (wishing I owned the new album, "Demon Days" *cries*) and Muse. God I love Muse. BTW, Lascaux, when I finally checked my deviations and saw your Noodle and 2D fanart, I spazzed out because I've been on such a Gorillaz kick lately XD SPAZZZZZ.

Anyway, I've been working like mad. I took last weekend off to go to Anime Mid-Atlantic, which was soooper-fun. We did a silly Hellsing skit making slight fun of the one we did at Katsucon, earlier this year. We danced, we laughed, we made general idiots of ourselves The skit that won best in show this year was FREAKING BEAUTIFUL ;__; Just...yeah. It was a dramatic Fushigi Yugi skit with every character ever and FLAGWORK. Yes, they spun flags on stage and it looked AWESOME. They even had little Suzaku and Seryuu flags...I wish I could watch it again, right now It was by "Agents of Anime", I believe. Give them a high-five if you see them at a con.

So I have a ton of stuff to post. BEWARE. I'm going to Florida on Saturday, so I won't be on for a week, but you guys are used to me being on hiatus, by now, right?

Today is special because of the rain, and because I feel bad about neglecting my message box for so long

Today is my last of six straight days of work T__T Hallelujah. I don't work again until Saturday. Picking up one or two extra serving shifts is good money, but it's hell on my feets. I reached overtime, yesterday, and I'm not even a full-time employee. I made the Mad Cash, though, so life is good. I really do love my job. I don't work tomorrow, but I have an exam and a class. Friday, I have two exams. Poopoo on that. This coming Tuesday, I'm going to a Gaskets show. Next Thursday is my last exam. THEN I'M GOING HOME. The dorm is pretty much empty...well compared to how much crap was in it before ~sevendaywonder took almost ALL of her stuff home, today, so all that's really left are appliances and my stuff.

ANYWAY, boring stuff All I've really been doing lately is working. Hopefully I'll get off a little early tonight so I can go attack ~michialmasy with post-birthday lurve.

Aaya runs a cosplay shop and that's the end of that. I still want to cosplay as Mine. She's kind of my soul.

ANYWAY.

I've been waiting for the translation of this volume forEVER, because it's the volume in which we get to see Yuki all flustered and jealous over Tohru becoming so close to Kyo. Yuki does a lot of 'growing up' in these chapters, I think. I have been a big KyoXTohru shipper for a while, but every time Takaya teases me with Yuki about to kiss poor little Tohru, I just get all giddy X3 I do the "AWRRRR *scrunch up face and wiggle in chair*" thing. It's that face that every girl has made at some point while reading her favorite shojo manga I read it and get the warm fuzzies. There's this extremely wriggle-worthy scene where Yuki seems like he's just going to go for it, and Aaya freaking poofs out of nowhere and interrupts! Dammit, Ayame...

OMG I had NEVER seen the pictures of little Akito before, and I think part of my brain died when the scene cut to a flashback of her smack-talking poor ickle cat-monster-baby Kyo ;__; It was so cute, but so terrible at the same time.

Uhrr...I really can't wait until Kureno and Machi come in...MACHIIII! I mean, Yuki's just going to be emo for the next crapload of chapters, and I want the MachiXYuki to hurry up so that the Emo can end >__> I'm going to have to do some adorable fanart in the near future. *runs in circles*

Takaya's little notes were so adorable in this volume! I want to do what she does for a living: draw comics and play video games T__T I wouldn't even mind if it only made me enough money to barely pay the bills. I'd be so happy I wouldn't care.

I feel like painting. Kel and I had an entertaining art history class, this morning. I've decided that Prof. Shaffer rules and should teach ALL of my art history classes. Between counting how many times he says the word "whatnot" and giggling at his excellent analogies, I think he makes art history 104 my favorite class yet.

I was up at 8:30 this morning. That's pretty good for the average college student I feel like I have SO MUCH TIME on my hands because I only have one class on Tuesdays at 10:00 in the morning. I went to that class, learned about why Medieval art sucks, made offensive notes with Kelly, ate lunch with Mel and Rose, then came back to the dorms and had scanfest. I don't want to post everything at once because that's just no fun. I posted two deviations and a scrap today, and will probably start posting the colored versions of sketches after I've had some personal time with my tablet X3 Right now, I need to look for a job. I think I want to squeeze some FFX time in this evening, then go to Shafer and try to make Kel ingest something besides cranberry juice. LIKE A DELICIOUS CHICKEN SANDWICH.

Some drama recently went down concerning some extremely talented artists leaving DA, and that makes me sad. I just found out about another excellent artist leaving through Mel's journal, and I'm a little pissed and worried that there won't be any fine artists left in the anime or furry communities on DA in a short while. Why should I rant about it in my DA journal? Because a lot of the people who read this are probably mildly pissed, too.

I understand that the DA mods upkeep this site and allow the free archival of artwork with no required fee. They host thousands of galleries on a state-of-the-art site at no obligatory charge to the artists. I appreciate that. On many occasions, such as when the server is down for maintenance, I've said things in defence of the site and mods, such as, "Well, it is free so we shouldn't complain." Well, it's their site and I guess they can make the copyright rules as bogus as they want. I guess copying someone's character or exact pose (including props and background) without crediting the original artist is okay, because it's learning. What if someone painted a replica of a Monet and gave the explanation, "This is in a park by my house". You can't excuse that as "learning". A blatant theft of character design is no different. I'm very tired of credit not being given where it's due. I'm even more tired of the mods doing nothing to support the anime, comic/cartoon, and furry communities when members call for help in credit disputes. There are paid members in all of these communities, and we deserve to be more than just appeased. We definitly do not deserve to be reprimanded about reporting the theft of copyrighted works. We deserve the same respect and courtesy given to the other art genres. I am STILL appalled at this elitist bullshit about Ms. Dyer ( *pu-sama ) and her merit as an artist. A load of "real" artists are pissed because her fanart is extremely popular. Waah, it's good and appeals to a mass of people, boohoo! Fuck that. Fuck all these starving artists trying to convey their oh-so-tortured souls onto canvas so other deviants will pay attention to them. Since when has art become all about the popularity and less about the love? Art isn't about trying to get watches or fucking favorites. It's about doing something you love for the enjoyment of yourself and, hopefully, others. Make art to convey a strong emotion. Make art to capture beauty. Make art to show your love. Don't make art because you want to be OMG famous. Fame and popularity are nice perks of being a good artist, but should not be the driving force. Popularity contests and envy decay the art community and make it a miserable, stinking thing of which to be a part.

The art hosted on this account will probably be gone by March 2nd, 2005. That's when my paid account runs out, and I want to use it as much as I can because it was a sweet gift from a sweet friend. DA has until then to change their copyright policies and cater to the interests and concerns of all of their decent members. "Decent members", in this case, means "those who do not abuse the lax security by stealing art and those who do not become total chodes simply because they are not as popular as other artists". If the security does not improve, I will move completely to SheezyArt, because they believe in all the anti-theft and security measures DA does not. I think it's because, as Mel put it, "The mods are a bunch of pissed off furry and anime artists who left DA". They didn't just bitch about this sort of thing in their journal. They love their fellow artists so much, the made an alternative archive site for the rest of us pissed off furry and anime artists. They rule. If they ever offer paid accounts, I'll buy one to SUPPORT THE TEAM.

I feel slighty hypocritical, sitting here, complaining about DA in my DA journal. It really is a microcosm...like a little internet replica of the United States; people say they hate it, that it's the most iditotic and terrible place. But they take advantage of and enjoy it every day. For the record, my only complaint about the country is that Bush is still president, and I voted so I can complain about that all I want Maybe DA should have elections. But then, if DA is like the US, half of the population would be pissed at the outcome and those who could have voted but didn't would think they have the right to complain. And THEN where would we be?

Wow. Time flies. Three weeks to do ten assignments is NICE, though. Today, I start my portfolio assignments for the VCU art foundations admissions. I get to draw any corner of my house. WOO HOO. I figure that one assignment a day is pretty sweet. I'll have them done by the 21st, which is ten days before the deadline for transfer students. That's really only a couple hours out of every day. Sweet. College really is the Best Thing Ever. Speaking of which, I'll be driving back to VCU this weekend. Not sure if it'll be Saturday or Sunday. Depends on when I feel like carting all my crap across campus from the parking deck I knew I shouldn't have waited so long to buy my parking pass. Kelly understands. Yay Bowe Street.

My very good buddy Laura is LEARNING HOW TO SEW X3 That means she can cosplay again without me having to make her costumes. She hasn't really cosplayed since she got back from Arizona, and now she can make her own costumes without too much help. Now we can work on two outfits at once, and I have more time to work on my costumes. It's wonderful. She's going to cosplay as Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew, and she's working on the skirt right now. I'm so excited that I'm going to make a Mint costume so we can be a set. Well, I'm mostly making Mint because I found the perfect color of stretch fabric at JoAnn's today for two dollars a yard, but that's beside the point Anyway, Space Bird Mistress is next on the costume list. At this point, the costumes I'm taking to Katsucon are:

It snowed what can only be described as a shitload here in Yorktown, seeing as we got over a foot and usually get about two inches. In a few minutes, I'm going to defy the horrible runny-nose-thing that jumped on me right after getting back from school and play in all that snow. It'll be time to stuff a tissue in each nostril and build the Snowman House of Horrors in homage to Calvin and Hobbes.

I also think that some sledding will be in order for teh Kelly and me, tomorrow; the snow will melt for the rest of the day, then freeeeeze into a sheet overnight, and THAT is way awesome for sledding.

So...it's really Christmas eve. That's cool because it means tomorrow is Christmas day, but sucks because I'm not finished painting my mom's gift >___> Ballet-dancing flamingoes are tricky! And I can only work on it at two in the morning so she doesn't see it

To keep myself busy this afternoon, I rooted through my fabric box and found tons of green fabric and some insect-print linen that used to be curtains. So I cut it all up and made an EGL-style dress with a frog in mind Corset top, poofy skirt, tons of lace and ruffles, and an apron shaped like a lilypad. Well, haven't made that, yet...that's for after Christmas. And after the frog princess dress, I'm going to make a fish-themed dress out of all this shiny blue fabric Melanie left at my house a year ago XD MINE NOW! I have leftover sheer whites and a ton of white lace and pearl strings; might as well make something out of all this crap! Maybe I'll make the fish dress in Kel's size...she wanted a fish costume made out of that fabric anyway. It's gonna be a pretty dress, fool!

The people who've either confirmed or kind-of told me they want to room are Mel, Paul, Fi, Michelle, Phillip, and Laura. Danitra and Charles will also stay if they can make it. Anyone else in te group is welcome to be in the room, but only ten of us TOTAL can stay...no more Otakon rooms, guys >___>

I also picked up the first set of FMA Gashapon in the dealer's room, along with a larger random boxed figurine, which turned out to be Envy. I wanted President King Bradley, damnit Envy sucks.

Didn't sell any art...sad day. I'm not too sad, though, because it was two kind of crappy pieces, so no big.

Hung out with ~comefullcircle, ~ michialmasy, and some other friends most of the time, because we is Team Christina's Van. Got to meet up with ~ JingleBell a couple times, and we attacked a Kyo Sohma cosplayer which was horrendously fun. I am sad I missed her lady-Ed costume, though

Augh. WHY?

John Kerry is a damn good man. Is he going to fight with Bush over Iowa and Ohio? Hell no. He conceded this morning. He didn't call in an army of lawers to fight the system. He knows how the electoral process works, and willingly gave up in an EXTREMELY CLOSE race because Bush has two more electoral votes and more of the popular vote. Oh, yeah, Bush "respectfully gave Senator Kerry extra time to reflect on the election". Whatever. Kerry knew he was beaten, which is sad, but also shows that he is aware of how democracy works. I think that might be because he's, well, SMART.

Right now, the breaking news bar on CNN says Bush is going to reach out to Democrats. Good luck with that, Mr. President.

In other news, Wolf Blitzer is a fucking rockstar.

Thank you everyone who went out and voted. Whether you voted for Kerry or Bush or even Nader (if you did, just smack yourself. Kerry could have used that %1), at least you gave your opinion on who should run this country. Go you. I voted, because I figure that I have the right, and I'd better take advantage of it. Then, we rented some Trey Parker movies she had never seen, and after that I went home and sewed. I sewed a lot.

I am feeling SO accomplished right now.

I pretty much finished Songstress Paine. All that's left are the chains on the pants, and that's not so hard. I even figured out how to get my hair in that 'do...lots of extra-hold mousse was involved. I did it before I went to bed (so I could just wake up and take a shower) and my head was stuck to the pillow the next morning :\

I also started/finished my Yumiko costume today. I even have a petticoat and lace thigh-highs and a plastic katana. Laura wants my nun hat. My mom laughingly told me I was going to hell while she took pictures of me wearing the costume I love my mom.

I can't waaaaait until Nekocon. I also can't wait until Halloween X3 Snarfgarble.

On another tangent, please note that WTF Comics are the product of myself, ~ Sethriel-Wolf, AND ~ParoBlitz. Paro may not draw as much as Seth and I, but she does provide just as much indecent humor. She's even the one who brought the whole "INDECENT" thing into the comic.

Shoot, while I'm at it, I'd like to thank ~Ponpiki for the freaky comment that provoked "Anderson's Schedule", the comic that set off this downward spiral into WTFness.

~comefullcircle and I were thinking up horrible Hellsing comics even before that...I mean, we thought of Walter banging the Queen of Goddamn England months ago during a crazy phone call late at night. And I dare say her animated livejournal avatars began Hellsing silliness as we know it

If you want to get REALLY technical, ~ sevendaywonder and I have been drawing silly comics in that style since sixth grade. We have the same goddamn sense of humor and comic style; we just apply it to different subjects. I should scan some of those really old Comix...like with Fire and Boom and Moose and ROCK. Back in the day before any of the characters had faces.

Credit where it's due, man. No one can really claim full rights to anything, because everything is influenced by something...that was a lot of things.

My high school's homecoming is this weekend, and you better believe I'll be there yelling demoralizing things at the opposing football team instead of here doing homework. That, and I have to flash my 5 around in my AP English teacher's face because she SAID I COULDN'T GET THAT SCORE. HA. What now.

I bought this kickass candy-apple red vinyl at JoAnn's because they're having a hugenormous sale. 1.5 yards = $5.38. After I mostly finish Paine later today, I'm going to make the Haruko bunny costume because I'm that excited about finally being able to do so.

The beach was fun. A little chilly outside, but the water was AWESOME. ~ sevendaywonder and I pimped the mad-awesome boogie-boarding skillz...and got tossed around quite a bit by the rip currents. They actually didn't allow any simming Sunday *SAD SAD!* We slept in about 5 minutes of warm sun instead, and then there was tons of chilly wind...Saturday was great weather, though. Sorry to all the awesome folkses in the Outer Banks whom I couldn't visit this time; only down there for a day and a half, yanno! Next time there'll totally be visiting and fun.

I work in the comic industry and I was scouting designers and I loved your stuff. But then I saw your swastika. And I just want to say one thing. Art is wonderful, I even like all the blood and gore in your art, it's fun and expressive, but when it comes to symbols of hate, don't think you're not offending people because you are. If that's what you stand my..then I feel really bad for you.
