I had gotten some good comments about the few pieces I had put up as stock. Looking at some of the stock out there I realized I have a hard drive full of stuff that is at least as good

I don't touch the image in any way. You might see it a bit different than I do so I will let those that use it make any adjustments they deem fit.

You might want to watch that account as well as most of it hasn't been posted on this one. (there will be exceptions of course) If you see something on this account you would like as stock, let me know. We might be able to work something out.

There isn't much there yet, but let me know what you think so far.

I responded to an offer from Fredericksburg.com which is the online edition of our local paper the Freelance-Star to become a member of the Fred Photo Team. We are a group of volunteers who go to community events and take pictures. They aren't as interested in the performers/event as the people there (people like looking through pictures to see if there is one of their kid.)
Today was the first event. A lunch time concert in Hurkamper Park. Now when I took them my disk the comment was make "you took a lot of pictures" well duh, eh? Around 460. Give me my camera and something to shot and it is party time.
They have posted the pictures on Fredericksburg.com. The one in the top left corner telling about the photos is one of mine.
The pictures are at this link. [link]
Those are the ones that are showcased. (Mine run from 11-27) They also have those and others in my gallery.
[link]

Now there are a few that I wouldn't have posted as not perfect, although one that falls into that group is also one of my favorites # 25. I just love the expression this girl has.

Let me know what you think and which ones you liked. There are a ton more but with the contract I can't post the others during the first 30 days.

Sorry about this being long winded, but I think it was worth standing around in 86 degree weather.

Last Saturday 3.31, I went down to Virginia Beach, VA with my friend Cricket. I of course took my digital rebel xt that hadn't seen a lot of use over the winter. Boy did it get used that day.
I hit a new time high for me. I went through a 2 gig card and part of another one, for a total of 948 pictures.
It will take a while to get all the stuff posted that I like from that day.
I am getting close to the magic 10,000 mark with that camera and can't quite remember what happens then...something about the count starting over. When you stop to think that I got that camera last August, I really take a lot of pictures

I was coming home last night about 10:30 from work. Took the exit from the freeway closes to my house...not the usual one I take. It is long and a pretty good grade with some bends. I come around the last bend towards the bottom when I see a car coming the wrong way in my lane. Not sure if there was anyone in the lane next to me...tell you the truth no idea what this oncoming car was going to do. Just hit the brakes and the horn, bout when I said damn she is gonna hit me she managed to slow up and pull off to the side. I swear we didn't have a car length between us. Steered around her and kept going...glancing back saw everyone had seen was happening and stopped. No idea what happened to her, that isn't the best exit to try and stop on...I am glad see didn't make it to the freeway. Let me tell you when I got to the store about 3 blocks away where I had been headed I need that shopping cart.
What is it with drivers today? That morning I had seen a gal coming the opposite direction suddenly turn across the turn lane and my lane into a gas station. She didn't want gas mind you, the old gal just wanted to turn around going across 2 lanes of traffic to do it.
So all is well, but I sure spotted a Pale Horse in the area.

On a lighter note, my rescue cat Bubba is fat and sassy. He is the twin of Connor my old guy. It is so hard to tell them apart that even Meg my girl kitty mixes them up. I finally put a collar on Bubba and was amazed that he not only doesn't seem to mind but didn't take my hand off trying. He was standoffish at first but now sleeps on the end of my bed and will come up and lay on me.

Well this has become a novella so time to call it quits. Thanks for reading if you have gotten this far..
Also seem to have aquired another cat, Bubba Cat....he looks like he could be Connor's son....best we can figure around here is that he was abandoned, very skinny, but starting to fill out. He gets along well with the others, tho they all fight at times. Once I get him snipped he will be welcome in the house for longer than to eat...figure he is bout 8-9 months old...a real sweetie.

Just got home from work and still shaking tho starting to settle down. A few blocks from here I was coming down the road, there was a car off to the right waiting to turn. Plenty of room both ways but he sat there...he started into the intersection just as I was passing him....no idea why he didn't hit me....was waiting for the crunch as there was nothing I could have done about it.
Ok scarey but normal enough, eh? Gets interesting when you know that I was listening to a group that I just recently discovered and adore called Il Divo. One of their songs had just started playing and I was kind of singing along as we used to sing this before bed in the Army...The song was The Lord's Prayer. If that wasn't enough, when I was leaving work and waiting for the light I noticed that my left headlights reflection on the back of the car in front looked like a man. Thought to myself, now I am seeing Jesus in the reflection of my headlight, as that is who it looked like...just the top half of the face wasn't a full image. I didn't have time to get out the camera tho.
Sometimes there are things you just can't explain, eh?

I was sitting at the computer talking with a friend online this morning before work, when a pair of buzzards landed on a branch in a nearby tree. Then a third joined them...and finally on a lower branch a fourth....I reached for the camera and realized I had left it in my drawer at work since we were supposed to be having strong storms....ah well some of my best encounters I believe were not meant to be photographed.
I couldn't get a good look, the sun was behind them, but think they were buzzards...big with the hooked beak.
The pair (probably mates) took off first, then the other from that branch...when they were gone the one on the lower branch took their place....walking around, slowly working his way towards the high end of it. He sat there for the longest time (altogether about 20 mins) and when I started to get into the car watched him fly off...why then? the tree was on the other side of the house....liked to think he knew I was there watching and also knew that I had left so he was free to move on.
For sure there was a pecking order, as he wouldn't get up with the rest and only claimed that branch for his after they had left. Poor thing....
I am looking for a new tattoo......hmmmmm ......nah think might be a dragonfly..

Looked so pretty this morning with the raindrops on it's needles. Will have to do a bit of training...maybe a string and light rock to bring the flattened branches towards the back again...perhaps will just leave it like it is. (it had been flat against the ground long enough that it is pretty well flat on the back, but that is ok too)
So keep the good thoughts coming, I might not be able to save the world, but maybe I can save one little tree that was in the way of "progress"

I am so far behind, we went to upgrade my computer and the computer gods demanded a sacrifice...sigh the new processor...ok replacement was to have shipped out last thursday, same day as the sacrifice but didn't go until friday....soooooo blast it all didn't get it until monday....then found out windows kept loading the agp drivers and this is pci express...we couldn't fix that so ended up having to reformat...still getting things over...but.....now the system sees my second drive, but doesn't think it is formatted...once I get everything off the 80 gig external drive I got will put that one in old computer to see if we can get the stuff off...if not have other plans...OHH did I mention that is the drive with all my pictures? Prior to mid-oct last year I have copies on my old c: but after that....the latest great butterfly shots I unloaded to work on at work so have several days worth of stuff there...
Oh well....no pain no gain, eh? so not ignoring everyone just been going ape around here....

They were talking tonight on a DC (Washington DC) station about the high heat we have been having and how it would be even worse tomorrow....When out of the blue the reporter made a comment that "They will start issueing citiations to animals without water or shelter"
Hey there....how about citing the owners, the critters don't make the choice, eh?
Anyway they are talking feeling like about 115 tomorrow perhaps...sounds like a good day to have to work in AC to me...

Ok, raise your hand if you hate it when you post a picture and it doesn't show up in your gallery. You have seen it, can find it by looking through the daily postings, but it ain't where you think it should be.
Anyone have a clue why that is? They do show up sooner or later, but heck, wouldn't as soon as we post them be nice?
Ok rant done, it was my first attempt at photojournalism so was just a wee bit frustrated.

On another note, we have a great event going on in my town. Here is what they say about it. (sorry this will show up in the pictures too

Pawsitively Fredericksburg! will transform the historic district streetscape for Fredericksburg residents and visitors into a playground of artist decorated cats and dogs. The larger-than-life size models celebrate the Pawsitive creativity of our local arts community.

These aren't ordinary cats and dogs. Artists have been free to give each creature it's own theme, it's own personality, to apply their vivid imaginations to make each one fanicful, flamboyant, and unique. Throughout the spring, dozens of artists have been at work designing and transforming 41 fiberglass cats and dogs for Pawsitively Fredericksburg!

May 6 - September 10
Historic Downtown
Fredericksburg, VA

I have seen several of these and promise to seek out and post all of them, probably in several shots each so that the world can enjoy this showcase of local artistic talent with us.

Ok Bad News...... Word came down today that one of my favorite places to take pictures at work is now Verboten. Big Fat Hairy Sigh. So not only did they fence off the Froggie Pond, but now the whole area is off limits. For our safety, oh please. Yea there are snakes, sigh, oh well nothing to be done. There is a pond next door, and if I look I am sure I will find other Mantis's. Plenty of open areas within a few blocks too.
I don't usually keep these, but wanted to share a couple of things...
Started the morning with a big laugh...was taking a shower when Meg my Calico Cat that has been my main cat model decided to jump on the side of the tub. Only problem is that She Missed and landed in the tub...they are amazing when they bounce off something She was a very unhappy kitty with wet paws and as I found out tail (why did she feel the need to keep rubbing up against me with that tail?)
Thought someone else might get a laugh out of that....
On to more serious stuff....have you ever passed a Homeless person and thought, if I give them money it will just go for Booze.....This probably isn't a new thought, but how about buying some Mickey D's for example Gift Certificates...at least around Halloween you can get a book of them in Dollar amounts..you would know then it would be used for food or a hot cup of coffee....
I know, alot of people here are on tight finances, and I am that way myself, but for those that aren't...or heck just as a suggestion you can pass on...
I think Mother Theresa said something about not worrying about saving the world, but helping those you can.

And that my friends is the closest to Christmas sentiments you will get from me this year

Peace to all of you, and Power to the Froggies.
