I am getting desperate to take photos again. I find myself clicking the perfect shot with my hands and no camera in them.

I went to a Career Expo in Perth on Friday and met a muso who said "A gig is a gig." I may not be uploading images for you all on DA but I may just help someone you know to engage in a career they love.

Don't give up on me, I promise when I do upload images they will be good!

We had a great time in Melbourne.
Met Willko for the first time in the real world, just as nice in person! Aquiel and Willko helped install the Offline Online exhibition. The Launch of the exhibition at the Breadbox in Perth showed 90 A4 works unfortunately because the Gasworks venue is significantly smaller we are showing 54 A4 works.
[link]

It was great to go to resturants for lunch and dinner every day. Got some great shots with Aquiel around the back streets of St Kilda and had a great time shopping, viewing art galleries and photo taking along Gertrude Street.

Saw Paul Kelly in the street twice in the one week. Second time we stopped to chat to him. Believe me or not, I don't care.

Aquiel's hospitality was great she taxied us all around Melbourne.

If you are in Melbourne please check out the exhibition, the natural lighting in the Gasworks is gorgeous.

The show has ended in Perth but we are getting ready for the opening in Melbourne - opens 23rd November at the Gasworks Gallery in Melbourne.

I have obtained an Artflight grant from the WA government ArtsWA to fly to Melbourne to set up and open the exhibition there.

If any of you are interested in a radio interview I did with GROOVE FM in Australia, it will be live on Thursday 31st August between 9 -10 am WA time.

It was great meeting Lukeroberts and Aquiel for the first time. They are great people and it is fantastic being involved with them with this touring show. I was very excited and pleased that they travelled from Adelaide and Melbourne to help install and be involved with the opening of our launch for the OfflineOnline exhibition. I managed to show Aquiel my world and learnt a little about hers. I am looking forward to spending a week in Melbourne to experience her world some more and to see mrbenno for the first time in 15 years!!!!!!!! I am hoping that Willko will make it to the Melbourne show and to meet him for the first time in the real world.

Please be patient, we will have an online version of the exhibition with the opening images and images of the work in the gallery arena.

It is now the driest winter on record. The farmers have gone from feeding sheep to selling them for meat. There is no feed for the lambs. There is barely any green and its the middle of winter. We need
Another year like this one and there will be no farmers here!

On a more positive note I am looking forward to meeting Aquiel [link] in August and I may even change her work into more rust and grunge.

The OfflineOnline exhibition is going well. I pick up 90 A4 photographs from the framers at the end of this week, and 10 000 invitations from the printers.

Nearly time to send out the invitations - maybe one coming your way!
Clerical work for Careers on Track a centre for youths between 15 and 19 to go to for help to get work.

Teaching Art 2 days a week for next semester at TAFE.

The Offline Online exhibition opens 11th August 6-8 and we are doing well with our timeline for that. We have beer sponsorship from Amstel and a barista thanks to oldcanons son. There will be 90 works in the gallery and at some stage there will be an online site of the images in the show and from the opening.

The Melbourne show is booked at the Gasworks but we are seeing if we will get funding to help cover costs.

I don't seem to have time to photograph but when I get the opportunity I'm keen to check out the local car wreckers.
Thanks for the positive response to my last Journal entry, and the increase in
This is the best time of year to take photos at the moment. A lot of overcast days!
The recently hatched member of the chicken clan is a pure bred Ancona chick. Unfortunately there were no more. Unlike the interbred chooks these were a little more temperamental, so we got only one. No more chook breeding
for this year, the season is changing and it is too cool for the survival of young chicks.

Well, my prediction for a hot Easter didn't eventuate.
Looks like not only a mild summer, but winter is not scared to come back either.

I am a little disillusioned by DA currently.
I have colleague who does great but demanding
work and has very few comments and viewers.

I am finding that there is not much
theoretical or technical rigour in the DA
community.

If your work is simple and visually nice you get viewers.
The majority of comments seemto be slavish praise - 'love your work', 'awesome' etc. but without much substance.

Criticism is seen as an attempt to pull people down,
not a process that helps them.

Where is the encouragement to do better?
Where is the support for challenging work?

My next prediction is that many of the artists
I would prefer to see on DA will leave due to
these unfulfilled expectations.

11 chicks and counting. I have to check on them at least twice a day, make sure they are finding the water and feed. One is about a two weeks old, one born this morning. Still more eggs sat on.

No photos this week guys, I'm having a week off. I need to catch up on my TAFE work, put in a grant application for an exhibition and fill out a job application.
I will still respond to any feed back on the work I have done.

From now on my photos become a possible dangerous endeavour. If not for spiders, the grass is long and dry, yes possibly snakes. I'm not going to go out to sites on my own over summer.

I don't think I will take photos with oldcanons again, he picks up the corrigated iron lying on the ground to see whats under it. He said he often finds scorpions, sometimes snakes, but mostly geckos.

I got caught trespassing the other day taking photos, oops. I just smiled and hoped for the best, luckily the guy kept driving but I know I was on his relative's property.

We have 3 hens sitting on eggs and its getting out of control. The other hens keep laying near them and they keep putting them under themselves. I have counted 20 eggs being sat on, but I suspect there are more. I keep trying to collect them but they are not impressed.
We should have more chicks in about 1 week.

I do like people watching the progress of my work, how many doesn't bother me. Someone is out there waiting to see what image I produce next. This is a great incentive for me to create work.

Thank you DA for the drive you have created in me! I have not been this obsessed about making Artworks for about 10 years.
Three of my hens died, don't know what from. I have two sitting on eggs at the moment, 4 under one and 2 under the other. Should see what we get in about 2-3 weeks. I'm not counting my chickens before they have hatched.

I am involved with organising a touring exhibition in Australia, should be fun and great work. I will keep you posted closer to the first show.

There are some large rock formations locally that I would like to photograph, not as big as Ayres Rock but large enough for interesting images.

Yesterday, I went with [link] To the Newdegate Field Day, a festival event for farmers to look at, and possibly buy machinery. The local schools have the day off and the kids get show bags and watch events like fashion parades, dog trials and get there face painted. My first paid photo job. We braved the elements, the wind was so bad outside I am suprised to have anything in focus. When raining we photographed in the pavillions and tents. I hope you enjoy some of the machinery shots I took!
