I'm really lucky to have a family like the one I have.

Well, my Aunt and Uncle anywho...

My aunt really started getting into photography after seeing some of my landscapey-type of stock, taking classes and getting a spiffy new camera and such-like.

So whenever she calls to talk to her sis (my mum) she always leaves time aside to gossip with me about photography and what is coming out on the market, new techniques each of us pick up and the snazzy new stuff either of us buy.

I told her about my dirty dirty bitch of a camera and she offered to pay for the cleaning That's $50 I didn't have and now have for schmexy new shiny camera-ness

I guess this is good karma coming back at me for telling her about that Photo5 competition

But I can't put it in for cleaning until after Photo5.
1) Because she hasn't transferred the money yet.
2) Because the competition is closing soon and I really need to focus on getting these photos done

I have 10 days left because I go into self-destruct mode and implode.

As a sidenote - I already have my wishlist for Christmas typed up Because my family is already asking They know its all photography related and that chances are they need to either save for it or layby

New backdrops - here I come!


I'm obsolutely obsessed with the idea that I'm going to travel someday.

Unfortunately until I become rich and/or famous... that isn't going to happen. But it doesn't stop the craving to travel.

So I need a little help from the deviants around here.
From manipulators, to photographers, to your regular Joe Bloggs that is just here to watch the artists.

What I want you guys to do... no matter where you are in the world... let me 'visit' you, so-to-speak

Manipulators - manipulate me into a REAL place in the world (no fantasy, sci-fi etc)

Trad artists - draw/paint/etc me near some famous places around the world, the highlands of Scotland, or down at the local pub.

Photographers - print a photo out and take me around your local area I'd love to see what its like.

This is open to all mediums. As long as you can send me somewhere on Earth - its open Your imagination is the limit

Since this isn't technically a contest there aren't any prizes BUT every image set to this theme will get a feature in my journal

I'm actually kind of hoping other people will catch on to this idea and join me on my 'worldwide' roadtrip

Why did I want to become a photographer? Seriously? I mean, sure - buying a camera and then claiming it back as a tax deduction is cool. You get to work with models or go photograph the great outdoors. You get to express emotion in your photos.

But FUCKING FUCKITY FUCK FUCK.

So anyway today I found out that it is not the outer part of the lens, nor the opposite side of the lens, not the internal mirror things...

Its the fucking sensor that is dirty.

Reminder that the sensor is the part that you can't touch because its too delicate. Its the part behind the mirrors that is tricky to get to at the best of times.

Its the fucking part of the camera that makes you send it away to get professionally cleaned if its dirty.

I cleaned the outer lens and took a photo, then the other side of it and took a photo, then took the lens off all-together and took a photo... the marks are still there.

Fine, I got my cleaner and cleaned the mirrors. Lens still off, took a photo. Marks are STILL THERE like the annoying little bitches they are.

Put the camera on 'bulb' setting and held the shutter button down to check the sensor. Blew some warmish air inside then held it roughly under the light. As the fog started clearing from the platform I saw some annoying familiar shapes appear. Every single 'dust spot' I have in my photos was there... plain as day.

I can't clean this myself. I have to send my camera down to bloody New South Wales to the Canon repair place to get it cleaned But it'll take around 2 weeks for them to send it back once they've received it. *sigh*

Trust my mother to make a comment like this "Imagine all the weight you could lose".

We ordered take-out a few nights ago. Mum and my sister both got low-fat stuff (and ate only part of it) and I got the greasiest, fattiest LARGE meal on the menu and scoffed the entire thing down.

Mum looked at me and said "Hungry, were we?"

I said 'Yes'... mouth still half-full.

"I don't know how you can eat like that. Imagine all the weight you could lose."

I was gobsmacked. I realise I'm not exactly small or anything (not even close) but the fact that she said something like that has really gnawed at me the last few days.

I've gone up one dress size in the past month or two and I still feel fine. I don't have issues with my body. I don't care that I don't look like a supermodel. Hell, I don't even care that I can't fit into a lot of my old clothes anymore. What I care about is that my MOTHER of all people is obsessing about my weight.

Mum has had issues with weight since having my sister and I so I don't know... maybe she's finally starting that 'living her life through her daughters' thing I've thankfully been able to live without while I grew up.

I'd talk to her about it... but I daresay she's forgotten what she said by now

I've ordered it and just heard back from the seller - it should be here in 10-14 business days Awesome.
