It was a lot of fun, and quite a treat since it was free and I haven't been there since I was very young. So many things have changed over the years. Hope the do the free birthday admission thing again next year, though I might not still be in the area to take advantage of it.

My artistic goal for November is to get my deviant submission count up to 100 and to get a big chunk of my Novel done. You know, the Twilight Series, House of Night, etc. I got inspired to write my own story about a you werewolf. Got about twenty pages done and the ideas keep coming so that's a good thing.

Trying to draw and work on developing my own style. I'll probably be putting some of it up here soon. Mainly sketchbook pages, but hey, maybe I'll get some feedback.

Been playing Fable 2 and Mass Effect again. I love both of those games and I'm excited about the sequels coming out in the somewhat near future.

Currently I'm running a D&D game for some friends every third month (we rotate, Shadowrun, Mutants & Masterminds, and D&D a month at a time). I recently starte taking notes for a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic campaign.

Okay this post is a little long but that's okay, half is my commission stuff, lol

Michael Jackson's passing

I wasn't a huge fan, I had the BAD album when I was younger cause I liked Man in the Mirror and Smooth Criminal, but that was about it. I could see why people liked him, but I'm more of a country & rock guy and never really got hip hop.

That being said. The man did more good in this world than bad. Yeah he was "different" in the last two decades, but hey, to each his own, and any bad stuff is between his estate and the lawyers.

As far as I'm concerned, we forgive you for your sins, and remember you for the good you did, rest in peace.

Transformers: Rise of the Fallen.

I saw this movie on Midnight the Wednesday it opened. I really liked it even though there were some really stupid silly parts. Probably more than they needed. I loved the Twins, loved the over the top fight scenes, thought the Mom was hilarious. Didn't like the Fallen, didn't think he was needed. Didn't like Devestators...extra dangly parts. All and all though I thought it was great and will get it to add to my library when the DVD comes out.

Twilight book Series

I picked these up recently and have read them all. I know some people didn't like it, but I loved the whole series. Stephanie Meyer's books have inspired me to begin writing my own vampire/werewolf tail. Though it's not going to be "like twilight." Something much different.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Commissions.

If you haven't heard from me about your pic, expect to when I get close to your name on the list

$20 bucks for a full color 8 1/2 x 11 Timm of whatever character you like with a frame like the one pictured below:

[link]

Your money gets you a high quality 300dpi jpg of your image.
I find my creative process kind of wierd, though I don't personally know many artists, so I could be wrong. I get inspired by different things, and I end up picturing scenes in my mind. Out of the blue I come up with this idea for a scene and write it down. Whether it's for my independant comic book idea, an idea for the comic that I am working on with a friend, or something else entirely. I do my best to write this stuff down and inpliment it when I get a chance.

Also, a lot of my inspiration comes late at night, just as I am turning in to go to bed, this tends to be irritating since these brilliant sparks of inspiration tend to come on nights when I have to get up early for something important, and jumping up, booting up the computer and writing is not really an option. Jotting some notes down is the best I can do, and sometimes the idea is lost.

This stuff is on my mind and I thought I would put it up here, since this is my journal on my page. lol.

So now a question, how does inspiration strike you?

If any of you wonderful artists who do commission work could point out the proper steps, I would much appreciate it.

At this point I'm currently working on a couple of comics, one stars a certain rabbit character who has popped up here on my deviant art page, and the other is a superhero team comic that I am working on with a friend.

Made a new friend online through World of Warcraft and we are spending a lot of online time together. If anyone wishes to send prayers or just positive energy towards my friend Ann and her family, please do so.

Also two people I looked up to in the media world died this week, Rest in Peace George Carlin and Michael Turner. You are loved and you will be missed by a great many people.

Okay, past problems are dealt with and I'm really getting into the Age of Conan game.

For those who haven't played this game seems to be learning from other games, both MMO's and non-MMO's and taking the best of everything to make things better. A warning for you parents out there, they say this game is mature and they mean it. Cussing, nudity, blood and gore, etc.

The good:

- When you initiate a conversation with some one, they TALK AND MOVE, they don't just stand there while text appears on the screen. And when it's time to respond you get several choices, ala KOTOR or Neverwinter Nights. So you can be nice or rude to people as you choose.

- There is a main storyline, which is slightly different depending on which class you play. While doing your personal storyline quests you are essentially in your own instance, it's like playing a single player game with you as the main character. This is a really novel approach, and I hope they continue this in higher levels. Also a nice touch is that at any time you can go to your trainer, or any other class trainer and switch back to multi-player mode.

- Combat is fairly easy and intuitive and happens in real time. It takes a little practice, but is really fun. I beheaded some one the other night for the first time and cackled with glee.

The bad:

- PVP is prevelent, which fits with the system, but so far there have been far too many people falling back on their old PK ways due to their not being a systm of pushing PKers. Fortunately they don't seem to have a reward system for PVP yet either, so hopefully this will cut down on it a bit. (PKing is killing PCs who are lower level than you just because you can, or for their loot in some games) Hopefully they wil will eventually institute a flag system similar to WoW at least on the RP servers. That way people can still PVP, but not have to worry about getting killed while their doing quests in multiplayer areas.

So to update on Age of Conan....

After getting pissed about it not working, then ccomplaining here and sending several notes to tech support (which have yet to be answered, it is launch after all ) I starting seriously going through my various materials again, hoping against hope that I didn't have to reinstall or worse.

I should mention that when WoW and other games launched they mentioned common problems in the news page and linked their FAQ there. No such thing in Age of Connan, I had to hunt down the FAQ in the Support page, which wasn't hard to find, but when your frustrated and pissed off, it's next to impossible.

Finally I discover that the system didn't accept my authentication code from when I installed the game. The only thing that they had in the system was my pre-order code which gave me some in game goodness. Needless to say I went through the account process with a fine toothed comb and got my account registered correctly. Then loaded the game.

Only to learn that the servers were down.....DOH!

Fortunately they were down for scheduled updates and maintenance after the patch. I went and ran errands and came back to find the game was up and running and it finally worked for me. Woo Hoo!

I'm still messing with things and so far I'm decently impressed, it has the potential to stand alongside WoW as a good Fantasy MMO. Plus it has blood and partially nudity!

Oh yeah and the game it self looks fantastic, I'm running on the lowest graphic settings and it still looks really, really good. Some what similar to Neverwinter Nights 2, but with smoother animation and better facial and body movement ranges.

I'll probably talk more about it later, may do a scetch or two of my character while I'm at it.

Well I've talked about the big fantasy story that I'm working on. It's been a pet project for a while now (since 2001), and today I started posting some of the concept art to give people a little taste of things to come.

I'm a little worried about Copyright, but at the moment at least it seems that my work is still fairly safe, unless that moronic orphaned works bill passes. I tell you if that thing passes it's gonna destroy the internet art community, but enough about that. The reason I bring up copyright is that I'm not going to be releasing more info about the story until I start producing the actually comic pages, since I don't want to give away much, and I don't want to see my story with some minor changes being produced by some animation company down the road. Yes I plan to copywright everything officially, but I need to finish the story before I can do that.

Well, that's the way it was for me anyways.

You see I've been slowely working on ideas and drawings and such for a epic fantasy story involving Anthromorphic animal characters (more kids cartoon type and less sexy catgirl type). The idea was to make it into a web comic or a animation, or something like that eventually once I got the story written. When I started I had some great ideas, but things kept changing and evolving. A lot of things inspired me. The Lord of the Rings movies, various Fantasy games, comics, and so on. I also tended to purposely avoid certain books as my stuff was similar to what I was doing (Redwall comes to mind).

Now I have my beginning and the story is up to seven pages. However I've come across another little obstacle. I can draw decently, but I'm having trouble creating expressive faces that are closer to the animal but still have humanlike qualities that the audience can relate to. My heroes are done, they look good, but my villains, particularly the rat who is the main villain is giving me trouble. Which is ironic since I created him to give others trouble!

Well my old teachers use to say: "If you're having trouble drawing something, then that means you're learning something new, so don't fight it, figure it out."

Hey it's my first day back to work after the Wizard World 08' Comic Convention, so what's the first thing I do, come to this site to tell you all about it!

It was a lot of fun this year, though honestly I think that it is shrinking a little bit more each year. I really hope that it doesn't go the way of Gen Con and get cancelled. It seems that for such a big city, we don't get much in the way of big conventions of this type (If you don't count the industry only stuff like E3).

Anyway some of this years highlights for me included meeting my personal hero Mick Foley for the first time.

For those of you who'd don't know who Mick Foley is, he's a professional wrestler often known as Cactus Jack, Mankind, and Dude Love. He's also a New Times Best Selling author, a humanitarian who works closely with the Make a Wish Foundation, and a HUGE fan of Amusement Parks.

I also got to see some of the gang from Who Wants to be a Superhero, Including Iron Enforcer, Major Victory, and Fat Momma from Season One, aslo Hygena and Miss Limelight from Season two were there. They're all awsome people and were really great with the fans. I was planning to get some pics with the gang on Sunday, but I was really feeling like crap and ended up shopping, saying goodbye and going home a little early.

Some big name people from the Comic industry were there as well, such as Jeff Loeb, and Mad. I also finally got to meet Brian Pulido, the creator of Lady Death. I got a really cool pic of Lady Death and Medievil Witchblade signed by both Brian and Mark Silvestri.

All and all it was a great con, and I had a lot of fun.

Greatest line of the con ... Lou Ferigno (The Incredible Hulk) walked up to Steel Chambers (Iron Enforcer) and say "You should work out" XD

Things are looking up though. I've got some new ideas and I'm still working on my big project. On top of that, I'm talking with a friend about co-creating a comic book. So hopefully some new work will pop up here soon.

Scan, scan, scan.

So lately I've been working on archiving most of my past works. This includes scanning and saving a lot of the stuff that I have lost over time to computer crashes and missing disks. It also gives me an opportunity to look at past work and see where I have improved and where I still need work.

Some of the stuff will end up here for you, my fellow deviants to view and comment upon, but the bulk of it will remain hidden, for I am working on a huge epic project which has been nibbling at my time and imagination ever since the second term of my Animation classes.

Well, back to the grind

Back from the San Diego Comic Con!

The Con was AMAZING! I hadn't been there in ten years and I am so glad that I went. I saw so many amazing things and met so many cool people it was totally worth the money I spent to go. Among the people I ment an things I did was:

I met Richard Taylor!!! XD (The head of Weta Workshop, the company that did all the props and effects for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy)

I met Creature, Fat Momma, Feedback, and Major Victory from the first season of "Who wants to be a Superhero?" and spent some time talking to them. (I had met Major Victory before, but it was good to see him again, and he remembered me from the first time.) I showed them all my Timms and they loved them and asked me to do one for them! (They offered to pay but I told them I would do one for free if they would post it with a link on their sites).

Shook hands with Sgt Slaughter (Good grip, think he sprained my index finger)

Shook hands with Todd Mcfarlane (Creator of Spawn)

Shook hands with Eric Larson (Creator of Savage Dragon)

Attended the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis Forums (Fun! The guy who plays Walter on SG-1 moderated, he is HILARIOUS!!!)

Attended the Masters of the Universe Forum!!! As I was leaving I was talking to the Marketing Director for the Masters line and suggested to him that they should do a Keldor Staction (action figure sized statue) of Keldor for the fans who missed the limited run of him a couple of years ago. He looked down at the boxes in his hands and held up a new Keldor and said "This one right here? You missed out on him?" I told him yes and he GAVE IT TO ME!!! (For those who aren't geeks like me, Keldor is Skelitor before he got his skull face. Mattel did a limited run of a figure for him that was an exclusive to the Cons in 2004, you can't really find one for less than $80 on E-bay these days). Getting this, meeting Richard Taylor and Creature made Saturday my favorite day at the Con.

Best weekend EVER!!!

Busy busy busy

Work is strange and confusing at the moment, I'll leave it at that.

I posted a bunch of old art today, it's mostly stuff from my digital portfolio and stuff that I had scanned but never did anything with.

I'm currently taking a little break from City of Heroes. I drop in from time to time to catch up but I started to get burned out so I stepped away for a bit. I'm currently playing World of Warcraft (Horde side, the Scryers server) and having fun there. I'm also working on some WoW inspired art which should pop up here in the near future.

This Thursday morning I will be getting on a bus to go to San Diego for the Comic Con. It's been a long time since I went last (1995) and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm bringing my sketchbook because I just know I'm gonna get inspired while I'm there!

So who knows I might have some Comic Con inspired art here next week!

It's a wonderful life...

So about a week and a half ago I learned that my job will not exist in the semi-near future. I currently work as a manager of a men's dorm at a private college.

The College is being sold by our parent corporation, also the land that we are on, which is being leased to us by another corporation, is being sold seperately. Basically what this means is that the school will have to move whether it is purchased or not since our lease is up in about two years. I was informed at a big employee meeting that when the school moves, then it will move to a campus that does not have dormitories. No dorms, means no managers, which means no more job for me. So I slowly begun making plans to find another job and an apartment (Since I live on Campus.). I'm not panicked, it's just affected my art and my life a little.

On the brighter side of things, I will be going to the San Diego Comic Con this year, something that I haven't been able to do since 1995. I'm really looking forward to that.

Anyway on the the TIMM LIST:

Timmation List:
At this point I'm cracking out one or two of them a day. (Depending on how much time I spend playing video games or working on my Iron Kingdoms Campaign). So as you can see the list is shortening. Don't be suprised if you see a few more names pop up here in the near future, or if occasionally a pic pops up that isn't on the list, I never know when I'm gonna get inspired to do something different!
