Well, after reading the speech (posted online, here: [link] ) which he will be giving tomorrow, here are my thoughts:

As a well written, eloquently put statement on the value of education and how it is everyone's responsibility - Parents, teachers, government, and yes, even you as the student - I give it a solid A-. He stressed how no matter what the situation is going on around you, be it family issues, lack of role models, peer pressure to do the wrong thing, social status and the stigmas attached to (poverty families, middle class, etc), it's all excuses. We all have the ability and the common sense to say, "You know what? I've got a dream. And fortunately, I have the opportunity to say 'I want to achieve that dream. I can achieve that dream."

This speech, in my honest opinion, wasn't really just written for the children and the teenagers that are still going through grade school. It was written, as a solid, well stated thesis on the importance of education for all of us, because each and every one of us have the opportunity to go back to school and get our degrees, to get our Highschool diploma/GED, to better ourselves for a better future.

Take those displaced by the loss of jobs in the Auto industry here in Detroit, in Michigan. Stop sitting around, hoping that the job you once had year ago that got outsourced to another country, or the job you have lost due to decreased auto sales and the uprise of gas prices last year will still be there. You have the opportunity, through FREE workshops and classes, to get an IT degree or through government grants and loans, or through "No Worker Left Behind" to go back to school and get that degree in business management, or RN/LPN/CN/etc, or culinary arts or what-have-you! If your passion had been the auto industry, work towards something that could help in other ways to bring sales back! Get reeducated for digital drafting/graphic arts and help design a more fuel efficient car with lowered costs! Make yourself useful to the company you had lost your job with - Chrystler, Ford, GM, or any of the smaller Tool and Dye companies that sell to them - show them that you are thinking about the Company's future when you apply!

All in all, it was a motivational speech. To me, at least. I would love to hear everyone elses thoughts and opinions on it, as well!

XD Ah, how I love Venture Brothers. HOWEVER that's totally neither her nor there.

POWER'S BACK, YAY. Storm of the frickin' century, I swear. I look out the window sunday night around 9PM and it looks like a clip from the Katrina video. The winds, rain and thunder/lightning was just THAT bad. Transformers blew up in a glory of flames and sparks, huge, old trees were ripped to shreds, and my mom's truck was totaled by a said tree. XD Needless to say, I spent the day at her place while we had no power helping cut the half of the tree that fell into firewood to dig the truck out.

Who would've thought that Michigan's lake-effect weather would include Hurricanes?

1. What does your deviantart name mean and why?

Well, my first "real" friend gave me the nickname of Creepy in 8th grade, because I'd just sit there and draw and not talk to anyone. XD The goth thing, well, at the time it seemed to just fit cause people seemed to think I was goth because of the way I dressed. Truth be told, I just liked those huge baggy pants and shirts cause it was comfortable as hell.

UH..god, that was a while ago. Probably Zim and Inu Yasha? Don't really remember. Whatever the hell is most common in the dark recesses of my gallery?

SO. Dreamcatchers. Starting price is $10, which includes leather cord, the branch, several bone/horn beads, and a few feathers. Any add-ons will be extra. The branch species I offer are Thornless Honeylocust, Maple, Paper Birch, Ginko and Sassafras (that would be real nice..and fragrant! ). Haven't tried using pine yet, though if you'd like a pine branch I could get them. There's pine everywhere in michigan XD. I can also use metal hoops if you want a uniform shape; will be 15$ starting price.

Add-ons include anything and everything else. Antler points (if I can get them), arrowheads, charms, crystals, semi-precious stones, large painted turkey feathers, peacock eyes or whole feathers, pheasant feathers (plumage and tail, if I can), imitation hawk, eagle, owl, animal tails, teeth/imitation claws, full pelts, faces, red stone carved pieces, etc. I can also paint on some of the large feathers, however, all of this will effect prices. Painted feathers will be charged based on my acrylic prices. I could also make little medicine bags to hang off them, with different botanicals and the like to help promote healing, or hang a sage smudge-stick off of them, etc. You get the idea - get creative!

I will also offer pencil sketches (Bust $5, whole $7), pen sketches (Bust $7, whole $10), colored pencil (Bust $10, whole $15), Conte crayon (Bust $15, Whole $20), and watercolor (Bust $20, whole $30). Also as above the acrylic paintings will be $20 for feathers. These prices do not include shipping.

Every year, like it's some kind of tradition I rant on and count off the various things that just seem to make me hate myself more, but this year, I thought I'd change it up a little.

For the first time in my life, a month ago, I felt proud of myself. I got off my lazy ass and got my GED (high school equivalent diploma). But now I'm back into the whole, "God, why the fuck did you let me come into this life?"

...but this year I'm not going to try and argue my point. I'm just going to sit back, watch horribly depressing war movies or love stories like Letters From Iwo Jima or the Last Samurai or Moulin Rouge, or hell, even King Kong. (Shut up that movie made me cry horribly XD). That way, if anyone sees me crying, they'll think it's because of those movies instead of self-loathing or loneliness. Have I mentioned I hate being alone? I really do.

Happy early birthday to me. Count-down is 37 days to the biggest "I want to cry in a corner cause I suck"-fest this side of the river.

..On second thought, I think I'll watch Running With Scissors or Advent Children instead. Maybe the Dark Crystal. and Hairspray. I'm in the mood for musicals.
