Anywho, I tacked another tally into the life wall yesteday, and I must say, I'm disappointed! I don't FEEL overly mature, nor do I feel particularly wise. Instead, I have spent spring break with friends galore and acted mostly like a complete kid. Not that I'm complaining, but still. XD It's been a good kind of week.

There are new babies springing up everywhere, my stupid, stupid father flipped the jeep, and I recently obtained two AFI CDs free of charge!

Finally, I just jumped out of the shower and smell AMAZING. Like baby shampoo and love. It can't get any better than this.

Tried repeatedly to find a digital recording program, but in the end couldn't find one that I knew how to work.
Jumped for joy when Stooge sent me some old AFI songs that I deeply cherish.
Researched the Nikon D40. A DAMN fine camera.
Watched people sign on and off of AIM.
Accidently sent a picture of a girl with only a sombrero to Joy. (realized afterwards it was artistic nude)
Acquired the tutorial on how to make an Origami Camera out of a single dollar bill, using no cuts, tape, or glue.
Popped my elbow about a bajillion times after typing.
Had the EXTREME urge to shoot some birds outside of my window.
Sang a bit of Avenue Q.
Watched the sun rise.

This weekend I'll be going with to some Chrisitan conference...which should bring lots of laughs on my half...a heretic at some conference...This tops the general "wolf in sheep' clothing" and speeds right to "The athiest in church clothes, hiding some afislash in her rented-bible."

Tipp, my sister, is sitting right behind me. She looks over at my mum and says "It's only six months till Christmas!" Mum: *sigh* I know...I'm depressed about it already. It's a mad scramble to keep everyone around here and in the jolly pious spirit in december...

But hey, it is July, the fourth to be exact...Enjoy the holiday! Eat those ribs like the pig they come from! Or, have some tasty tofu and eggplant...

I survived one quite melodramtic scene of Richard being a big boy despite his problems, followed by quite an angsty sex scene, and then some fun with the King of the Rodere, Rafael. But here is what I wanted to share with the masses (or the minute, rather)...LKH is breaking out of her shell of christian gone wiccan and for some reason decided femslash was the way to go! For at least a second...

If you've read the series and have any clue what I'm talking about you'll know this is beyond jaw-dropping...I mean, to quote another situation earlier today, my mouth dropped and ran away with the fucking spoon.

Not only is she turning to the Priest's worst nightmare, but with Belle Morte? Jeebus.

I've also got my nifty camera obscura (pinhole camera) sitting right next to me. I think I'll submit some pictures of that in case you've never seen one. They're a pain in the ass to carry around but they definitely have their advantages. Such as in every shot, every single detail is in focus.

The end of the school year is coming closer and closer. I'm celebrating the end of a tortorous two semesters, and steeling myself for a long way to go. I've been listening since December for a hint of bright news, and I've yet to find anything but the equivalent of a single word from the newspaper. I am a cup, impossible to fill. Riddled with too many holes.

You'd think that these holes would be all for my past, all the wrongdoings, the misgivings, the has-beens, and the never-coulds. And you'd be right to say that I have had each of those in my life. But right now, I could honestly care less. To take you back with me on a journey...I'll start there.

I remember the first speech therapy session. I know the scenes like the back of my own hand, blue-veined and scarred. Samantha is maybe a year old, and screaming her lungs out. She can't speak...she doesn't know how. She runs in circles, she doesn't like strangers, she seems to lack a vital piece. Which I later came to find ironic, considering her condition uses puzzle pieces as a symbol for a sort of pseudo-culture. A network, maybe.

Miss Laura has short brown hair and light eyes. A soft voice and thin frame, but somehow she's comforting. We, Samantha, Miss Laura, and I, are upstairs between the crib and changing table. We sit cross-legged on the floor and we try not to talk too loudly. Samantha sits in my lap, wide-eyed and frightened. She doesn't know this person. Strike One. She doesn't have mommy. Strike two. She can't talk to say "Leave me alone!" Strike three.

We're out.

Samantha is sobbing and twisted around so her face is painting wet spots all over my old jersey. I hold her close and try to shush her, "Sammie, it'll be alright. She has toys! See the toys? Don't you wanna play?" Miss Laura sits dumbfounded and fiddling with her Sesame Street gadgets. Samantha wrenchs her fists into little balls, she holds tight to my shirt. If she got any closer, I'd say nuclear fission happened in a small Atlanta suburb.

Flash forward to age 3. Samantha can say maybe three things. Mama, Dada, and probably milk. Honestly, I can't remember. Does that make me a bad sister? The doctor says something isn't right. No shit, Sherlock. She is diagnosed with Autism.

Oh, boy.

Say hello to holes number one through twenty. Maybe more. All my dreams -the ones I've had since I saw the little bluge in my mother's stomach- are ripped away from me. A friend, a partner, someone to play with, to tell ridiculous child-hood stories to...gone. I imagine my hopes look like Swiss cheese. Holey and bitter.

Time passes, she learns few things, but quickly. We learn bits of sign language, ways to make things easier. But with each day without a word from my youngest sibling, the family begins to shape, change into Lorraine cheese. More holey, more pungent in defeat and a ripened age.

Am I making a bit of sense? That was just background...I'm moving onto the point of all this now.

This year, Samantha was in an inclusion class at her elementary school. Inclusion is a type of class where kids with special needs can interact with everyday, run of the mill kids their own age. Its a beautiful thing. Here's the best part. Guess what? Samantha can SPEAK. She went from saying "Gegan" and pointing, to saying with a full smile, "Megan, Wanna watch Spongebob!"

I feel like a parent. I watch her speak and smile and run and jump -sometimes still in circles-. I see her laugh and cry and fall down, then she smiles and giggles and runs back after me. She comes home from her inclusion class and tells me about her day. What she had for lunch, what milk she had, what center she went to. Suddenly, I'm beaming with pride. Look, just LOOK at my baby sister. See what she can DO?!

This class does amazing things...and its in a regular public school. It doesn't cost much extra. The school system could easily do it. And just look at the benefits! She isn't a normal kid. She's autistic. She doesn't have Asperger's Syndrome -a very high functioning type of Autism-. She couldn't even TALK a while back. But just look at her...

Now, today, I'm pissed. I'm BEYOND pissed. There isn't a single school in our district that will offer an inclusion class for her age. Not one. We've fought and bickered with the system. We've had meetings and conferences...we celebrated national Inclusion Class week at our City hall.

I spent the weekend on the fields watching games as well as playing in one. We won 2-0 at our first match. Megan= ecstatic. I also went to Monkey Joe's for Zoe's birthday with Corbin. It was fun as well as tiring. Everyone else was running around Mo-mo Con...(sp?)

Those are the rulez:
The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 Weird Habits/Things About Yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 Weird Habits/Things as well as state this rule clearly. 1. I am a vampire freak in lycan's clothing.
