BUT IT WAS TOTALLY WICKED! I dressed Lolita almost the whole time-- "almost" because my petticoat kept dying and I was like D< and it was like :< so I pitied it and hung it upside down for a while.

Our group was in these two awesome rooms-- HUGE ONES, with two double beds each and everything! So I was excited. And I took lots of pictures and went to the Death Note panel and the Hetalia panel and I ALMOST went to the That Guy With The Glasses panel but there were too many people in line. XD;; (I did share an elevator with Linkara, though! *swoons*)

And I got my portrait done (LOOK AT MY BEAUTIFUL FAAAAAAACE [link]) and bought a House MD print from the same person. And I also got two cute necklaces and three FREAKING ADORABLE RINGS. Two look like whipped cream and one is a bunny rabbit <3

I totally have to watch Black Butler or Butler Black or however you spell the Japanese name, because all the cosplays from that were totally wicked. Sooooo wicked. <3

BUT MAN WHERE WAS ALL THE AA ;A; All I saw was like one Klavier and two Emas and a Phoenix. GRRR WHERE WERE THEY ALL
I totally have to rectify this with Lamiroir next year. Grrrr.
(BK285 might have taken a picture of a Fran, though-- but I won't be able to tell until I get the darn picture off my camera)

And I saw a Luke but I didn't take a picture cuz I'm lame.

There were plenty of Russias, though, so I was happy. And two Spains! And two S. Italies! <3

Oh, and it turns out that I can survive with very little food and not get hungry. Worrying, but good to know.

It's a late start today! Hoorah! 8D I could have slept in if I wanted to but I didn't want to so there.

I haven't had Photoshop or any sort of workable substitute for a while... Lineart is piling up, but I can't do a darn thing about it. D: I've tried Paint.net, Artweaver and Pixia, but they are respectively too simplistic, too naturalistic and too much of a pain in the ass. So that's why I haven't been posting much-- but I swear, I'll be posting more soon!~

School is going juuuust fine. >w< All I have to do is cross my fingers and hope I retain my GPA.~ How hard can that be? (says the girl taking AP physics)
And my art teacher just let me do fanart for the Angelic Pretty sweet jam jumperskirt (yellow colourway), so that's awesome. I just hope I retained my chair in Orchestra... Urrgh Colas Breugnon.

And my Lamiroir cosplay is ever so slowly nearing completion. Ever so slowly... But there's only one month left until Youmacon. D: I hope I make it.

(What a start)

And I came across a lot of "musical" fics. What the authors did was take songs from musicals and other places and sewed them into a larger plot, usually dealing less with Voldemort and more with shipping drama. Now that I think back, they were pretty godawful. But darn it if they weren't fun. I loved reading the things and looking up every single darn song I didn't know.

I had almost forgotten about these. But then, while I was visiting colleges, I was trapped in a car with The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly and a metric ton of Hetalia reference pictures.

And a Hetalia musical would work so darn well. I don't know what the plot would be, or who the main characters would be, or anything, but now I really want to see this lunacy.

The Sound of Music could make up half of it-- The title song could be sung by Austria just after losing Hungary in some way or another. "I Have Confidence in Me" is such an America thing to sing, isn't it? "No Way To Stop It" could be turned from "why we're Nazi" to "why the world will become one with Russia--" making the best villain song ever, imho. And just try to tell me you don't want to see Germany sing "Lonely Goatherd." I defy you to deny it.

And then, "People Will Say We're In Love" from Oklahoma and "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face" from My Fair Lady work for so many couples! And obscure songs work too-- "In Our United State" anyone? ("A declaration/of dependence/Where you depend on me and I depend on you"-- oh Alfred) And there's no way the Baltics and "Hard-Knock Life" wouldn't be hilarious.


Maybe somebody just slipped hallucinogens into my water tonight. And I don't deny the result would be painful. Immesurably so.

But it would also be unspeakably awesome.

And I will be ashamed of this entry in the morning. Ah well.

Oberlin: Beautiful. So beautiful. Heaven on Earth. Too bad its art program probably sucks, but hey, free concerts every night! <3 It seems like a great place.

Carnegie Mellon: Nice-- but the tuition is ridiculous and they only take 30 visual arts students a year. Geez. I'd like to go, but it's probably not gonna happen.

Yale: I love Yale. It's gorgeous and pretty much everything I could want out of a college. It's totally my first choice. Will I get in? No, but I can try.

Brown: Not as awesome as Yale, but it's alright. Providence is adorable. It reminds me of the Sound of Music-- sooooo cute. >w<

Harvard: Fuck Harvard. I hate it. Don't go to Harvard. It might be the most unpleasant place in the country.


And in other news:

Mom's computer is dead (forever-- chips are burnt out and everything), and that's where I have my scanner and such. So even though I've been drawing, no more art for you! Yet-- I think I can set things up at Dad's, but it'll take time. D: Arrgh.

I have new glasses. They have thick black plastic frames and make me look even nerdier, but I love them anyway. <3

My first Lolita dress arrived while I was away! It looks beautiful and fits wonderfully. I love it to death.~ Ahhh, I've found my ideal style.

And I finally set up my Wii! <3 Ah, I'm so excited~

I told myself I'd buy books-- nothing more, nothing less. So of course I blow 50 dollars on two books, like ten stuffed animals, three purses, a fan, a pair of black leather gloves and what I suspect to be a leather bomber jacket.

A beautiful, wonderful, brown leather bomber jacket just begging for me to put patches and black fur on it and bomb Berlin. YOU GET THE HONOR OF BACKING ME UP! I'M THE HERO! *eats hamburger*

Seriously, it's awesome! Except for the unexplained dark spots on the back I just noticed. Oops. WHATEVER. It's blood. Because I'm a war hero. Yeah. I kill to preserve the beauty of Life, Liberty, and Property! Erm, The Pursuit of Happiness! And it has a map of America on the inside! An old-timey one, too! It only cost ten dollars and now I'm one step closer to finishing the America cosplay I didn't know I was doing until an hour ago! Wooooooooooooooo

Now I just need to reduce the shoulders and make the sleeves thinner somehow because they make me look like a lump.

There's only a couple of weeks left of school... All the seniors are already gone... Everything's so empty. D: Orchestra is so boring without that one bassist yelling "POOP" periodically. Ah, memories... At least everyone looked lovely for prom. :3 That's the only part of graduation I'm looking forward to.

The end of the school year also sucks (isn't this an odd viewpoint?) because our school's D&D group is winding down. Nerd power! But our wizard just got a baby dragon (which was almost taken away when he tried to name it "Moltres") and the plot was getting really interesting, so drat. D<

I've finally got actual art classes on my schedule this trimester, which is nice. I'm learning even more than I thought I would. >w< And our teacher is letting me do pen and marker drawings now that I've done all the assignments, as long as they're "interesting" and realistic. <3 (Not that I quite understand what "interesting" means... But she seemed to like the one with a girl drinking a cupcake, so I'll just go that route. Yay, pastry! My eternal savior!)

I just listened to a whole bunch of awesome songs on PBS (like Danse Macabre and the Habanera from Carmen-- LISTEN TO SOME CLASSICAL MUSIC YOU PLEBES and get off my lawn! *shakes fist*), so now I'm all hyped up and ready to write a journal. :3

First off, everyone here should watch the anime Eyeshield 21. Because it is SO MUCH FUN. It's about this shy high school kid who starts playing American Football--

Since the prices are SO LOW OMIGOD mom took me to the mall a couple of times, where I ran around like a madwoman and bought nothing of consequence. Mom, this is what happens when your daughter becomes interested in clothes.

Well! Christmas stuff first. I didn't get any arty stuff, but that's okay because I'm content with what I have.

XD)

And the panels were a whole lot more relaxed than I thought they would be. :3 For the Bleach panel, the people who were supposed to be running it never showed up, so Aizen's VA turned it into a Q&A; Sailor Moon was just hilarious (Dude, Eternal Sailor Man is a really great speaker); Abnormal Psychology in Anime was PACKED OMG (And the girl a seat away from me just would not shut up about how crazy this one character from D.Gray Man is) (Hollow Ichigo has borderline disorder!); Avatar was amazing (Jet's not dead! He's at the Southern Air Temple eating fruit pies with the Guru).

There was even a ballroom dancing class (taught by the original Black Ranger XD). After a few rotations I danced with this one really cute, sweet and shy black guy dressed as one of the Akatsuki (sp? Not a Naruto fan)-- he ended up being really good, but I think he either came with someone, was gay or both. Oh well. I wish I got his name-- I'd be fine with just friends because he was really great. (Actually, there were a lot of people whose names I wish I got. )

I barely even saw the people I came with because I wandered off so much. I bet they're mad at me.

I need to look up some of those vendors. There was this one woman who was selling the cutest rings ever-- there was a poof that looked like whipped cream on every one, with cookies and sweets and such in the poof. They were only $10 each, but I waited until Sunday to buy them in case of a sale-- and guess what? She wasn't there. D: Darnit! I actually did get a $40 pair of goggles, though. XD AWESOME.


Enough of my conscepades!

Geez, I really haven't been posting much... ;A; I've been sketching tons, though. I'll just scan my sketchbook and upload it all to scraps-- some of the stuff isn't all that bad, it's just so small.

I am suffering through a HUGE Lolita addiction. It's not even funny. I spend hours just looking at fanplusfriend.com and pining... (Brand sites? HAH! Those put me into a whirling pit of despair. I don't even bother. F+F is really good, anyway.) Blah-- I don't think this obsession is going away soon. Which is okay, because it's tons of fun. XD

My BL addiction is only slightly less alarming, and that's just because it's a lot less expensive.

School is actually pretty good. Nothing to say there, unless you want pages and pages worth of anecdotes. (Ask, and ye shall recieve. Anyone ever heard the capitalization lesson about Uncle Jack? Because I was the only one who had...)

Our school seriously needs to start easing off of the bomb threats-- we've lost two days already. >( Missing school is not fun if you're stuck on the practice field huddled under a blanket with the rest of your class and it starts SNOWING.

Sunday was neat, though. I went to the Renaissance Festival with and , and it was so much fun ohmigosh. All the dresses cost too much () but I got a really neat piece of jewelry (they called it a "hand flower") and a leather white rose pin. :3 So I'm content.

I have a haircut. It's shoulder-length now, and before it was Godiva length, so it's a weird sensation, but it looks neat. :3

Things have been going fine around here, and all my teachers are awesome (my AP Lang teacher showed us a video of him rapping in college and it was the BEST THING EVER 8D But I think my Orchestra teacher might have given me a cold, but I forgive him D: ).

I've FINALLY gotten around to watching the finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The whole thing with Azula is one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen-- damn, Avatar was a good show. I'm looking forward to the movies so much.

There's a bottleneck over scheduling, though... I wanted to take both Drawing and Painting 1 and 2, but they scheduled me into 1 in third trimester, and put Law instead of 2. Dad and I are trying to change things, but it doesn't look good. The easiest thing to do would be to put 2 in place of Law (they're in the same hour and everything), but Dad got an email today from the teacher saying that wouldn't be a good idea...

I hope I can take it without completely ravaging my schedule. I'm a year behind everyone else! I don't want to wait until next year to take this course! I've been wanting it since Freshman year!

I blame it on Spanish class. If I wasn't taking that, I'd have enough space for everything I want. And I'm stuck with a Spanish teacher who is, well, less than excellent.


On a more positive tack, I'm so glad to be back in Symphony Orchestra. I didn't even notice that I missed it until I got back-- It's like coming home! Ah, I've missed my Orchestra family.

And I've become a Bleach fangirl. Shinigami=Green Lantern Corps+Awesome, Characters=Total win, Plot=Twisty as hell... And it has a MUSICAL! Why did it take me this long?

I haven't commented on the trailer for Twilight yet, even though I saw it when I saw The Dark Knight... Okay, I haven't read the books, but the trailer! The TRAILER!

It looks like the movie's gonna suck. I'm sorry. It's true. I'll still see it (duh), but I feel bad for the series. It looks MST3K worthy, seriously.

D; ) And it was awesome, in case you haven't heard.

I actually wasn't bothered by all the darkness... I was too busy laughing. In a good way! (I find The Joker genuinely funny all the time. When he's being written and portrayed well. Which he was!) And Harvey's horribly scarred face (that's not a spoiler-- the guy was created in 1942!) didn't bother me at all. It was just like the comics (in a good way!). And I'm glad they kept the split-suit thing for his jacket at least. XD (But hey, no plaid? No zebra? Ripoff! XD) The only time I had to turn away was the Pencil Trick... Oh god.

My favorite scenes are a bit odd, though... The end of the Hospital Sequence (okay, that's not odd) and the part where Well... "Hey! Batman knocked off my side mirror! D<" (Does anybody remember what I'm talking about?)

So, basically, it knocked my expectations away. Oh my gosh. There's no way that thing's escaping without an Oscar.

Music camp is over, and while I'm glad I'm not playing viola from 9-5 anymore (*hums 5 'O Clock World*), I'll miss the people. D: So sad...

I'm working on being more productive with my art... But I still sketch -way- more than I draw, so that's an obstacle. I'll probably be dumping a lot of stuff by the end of the week, though (and if you don't like BL/yaoi, then I suggest you beware. Oh dear...).

Waah... I'm the only one of my friends who hasn't seen The Dark Knight yet. (And it has Two-Face in it and I love Two-Face... WANGST!!) But I have watched Gotham Knight. It's a source of great inner conflict for me, though. Bruce, stop winking. No. Stop. You're not supposed to be hot! I was impressed that they had Crispus Allan in it (twice!)-- Hooray for obscure comics references! 8D And I can't wait for Wonder Woman. >w<

Yep, I'm going to a string camp. It's pretty awesome so far. But we have like two hours of practice time where we're trapped in one room, and I sort of go stir-crazy sometimes. 8| (Yesterday we had two hours in the morning, and then three hours in the afternoon. We were supposed to be preparing for some simple auditions, but I could not concentrate and started drawing on the board and fighting imaginary aliens. It was sad.)

I went last year-- we have 9 Thai students this year (!!! But it's not like CULTURE SHOCK OMG, and they're awesome anyway), but not much has changed, except that the organization has gotten better. And I still have a crush on one of the instructors. (And I am not allowed to forget. *sits in corner* Stop teasing me! XD)

I'm learning a lot, but it turns out that I don't know jack about theory. 8| Our theory teacher is like, "Well, you know about cadences, right?" and I'm like "D8" and guess madly. Her accent isn't a problem, and her grammar is perfect. But I can't understand a single word coming out of her mouth.(MUSIC ANALYSIS! OH GOD.) And we have to give a speech on a composer on Monday. I am stressed.

At least there's an orchestra portion. (Well, not really an orchestra, since we have violins, viola, and a 7-year-old cello, but hey.) I've missed playing orchestra music! It's like meeting an old friend. (I am so sick of solos and chamber music.)


In other news, I'm fostering a Mystery Science Theater 3000 obsession and falling behind on my Gaia commissions. (And frumping around on Tegaki. I'll post some later. )

A Proposal: Hey, maybe I should get a motorcycle! They're more compact, and they don't use as much gas. Plus, motorcycles are cool.

A Problem: Well, it's me. I wouldn't look so natural on one. Besides, I never learned to ride a bike without training wheels because I was so scared of going too fast and flying off, or losing my balance because there were only two wheels. A motorcycle wouldn't be much better.

A Justification: A bicycle is nothing like a motorcycle! A motorcycle has a motor! And it exudes an aura of danger!

A Light of Reason: Oh, come on. I'm the girl who was too terrified to learn how to ride a motorized scooter. A motor isn't an asset. And my aura of underconfidence would cancel out its "aura of danger," and I would just look stupid. I've seen maybe one teenager actually drive one in real life, anyways, and besides that they were all members of biker gangs. And where would I keep it? And how on earth would my parents say yes? I have a father who thought a standard-sized car was too small to protect me-- yeah, a jacket and a helmet would be a real great substitute.

Yup.

I just know I'll wake Mom up super-early for school tomorrow. It feels like the middle of the year. Only hot.


My exams went awesome, though. (YES, I'm about to write out stuff about my tests. DEAL WITH IT.) In Fundamental Design, there was no exam at all, and it was the same in Symphony Orchestra (but we had a free period then, so I was anti-social and caught Giratina and Heatran really quickly on Pearl). Spanish was easy because, you know, Spanish. Chemistry... Could have gone better. (Okay guys, if it takes more energy to make the bonds than to break them in an equation, does that make it exo- or endothermic? Because I forgot.) English was really easy, though. All it was was a few readings and some questions. There wasn't even the writing piece she told us about, or the vocab questions. O_o The only challenging thing the whole hour was when she asked me to count the books and a huge stack of Things Fall Apart was hidden behind a slightly shorter stack of Adam's Cross. And that's nothing.


On a different and less boring note, I have randomly become addicted to the song "Last Resort," by Papa Roach. Do not ask me why. I can't even take it seriously (his tone of voice! lol), but I have it on constant repeat. Why is this? Do I just really like crap? o_O

Oh, and guess what? I was watching PBS (yeah, same to you), and it turns out that people in Europe really like Obama. (Along with people in the Middle East and Africa (who liked Bush because he was awesome to them, so he did one thing right), but Asia is a bit more suspicious.)

Spectacular Spider-Man
The cartoon, not the comic of the same name. It's like they took all the really good parts of the Spider-Man mythos, threw them in a blender, and took out one whole, cohesive series and threw it into high school. It's excellent. Even if you're not a total Spider-Geek, it's pure fun. If you are, it's pure fun with a nerdy bonus game (Foswell! I know your secret, Foswell!). It's funny, but not annoying; dramatic, but not after-school specially (except Harry-- sheesh); young, but not exclusively so. An ideal adaptation. (Plus, I found a Hillary Clinton analogue! 8D)

1. I freakin' love The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Yes-- the book that most of the English teachers in our school hate, I adore. Wow, that's a good read.
2. I've never gone to a school dance. I'm not really sure how that happened, but it's probably a good thing because from what I hear from my friends, I'd hate all the music they play.
3. I miss Roller Coaster Tycoon. Do you remember that game? Like, you got to build these theme parks, and you got to design all of the rollercoasters, and the things that you didn't design, you got to pick the colors and the music that they played? Wow, that was a good game. It's a shame I was so horrible at it. But I really want to construct an iron behemoth of a rollercoaster with, like, spirals of death and ten of those picture-taking booth things.
4. I can't spell "iron" for my life. I had to try it like ten times. It sounds like it should be "iorn"! It does! I have the same problem with "American." "Americain." "American."
5. In 7th or 8th grade, I tried to read Moby Dick. If you ever feel like it's something you might want to read, DON'T. I am ashamed that it's considered a "Great American Novel." It spends like five pages describing a church! That you'll never see again!
6. I'm throwing myself into work on a webcomic right now. Don't expect anything-- given my track record with these things, it'll never get a script-- but I love the characters and the plot is the sort of thing I like. It might actually happen this time!
7. I think Barack Obama has the biggest, most friendly grin I've ever seen. Look at it! It takes up half of his face and doesn't look creepy! If I could vote, I'd vote for him based on his smile alone. I'm a bad citizen.
8. When I watch Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas on Youtube, when she sings "How high does the sycamore grow?" it gets me every time. Every. Single. Time.

The Gavins: Before I liked Kristoph best, but now I think I like Klavier just as much because he's funny and makes me laugh. I enjoy his faux European accent. I'm just disappointed we didn't get to meet more of his band. (I bet Maggey's in it. XD)

Polly-Wolly: Aww. He's cute. He looks like a bug. I love him and his Chords of Steel.

Ema: I love forensics. It's so fun! I wanted more fingerprint dusting, though.

Phoenix: Ah, Phoenix. Come here so I can hug you, and then punch you square in the face. Stop that, Wright! Stop it right now! What would Mia say?

MAJOR SPOILERS, I THINK. Maybe just vague enough to avoid it, but still.
Fourth Case: Mason System? Huh? I can't present that! I don't have it yet! Put that thing into the Court Record! Put that into the Court Record right now! That was the most convincing breakdown I've ever seen. Wow. And my mom couldn't stop laughing when I told her the murder method.

Third Part of Fourth Case: I'm glad to see the old courtroom back for that case, but you know? They should have made the Klavier sprite in the old style. Why? Because the new sprites are really tall! Really tall! He looks like Klavier Gavin in Munchkinland or The Jolly Euro-rock Giant!

Well, guess what, it only snowed 3 1/2. We still had the day off, though. There was much rejoicing.


I've finished all 3 Phoenix Wright games! Now I'm ready for Apollo Justice! After such an optimistic ending, it's a shame to know that Phoenix's life goes to hell right after, though. Poor guy...

By the way, has anyone heard of the break up of the Spider-Marriage? Yeah, Peter made a deal with the devil and now him and Mary-Jane are retconned splitsville. Haha! Like that's going to last. Who wants to make bets?

I got Justice for All for Christmas, and I couldn't stop playing it until the 31st, at which point I finished the game. Now I'm going to play through it again, because I need my fix and I'm not getting the other two until next week. *Twitches*

I wish real court was that cool. Wouldn't court cases be really fun to watch if the prosecutor was allowed to carry a whip? You know it's true. And the music is really catchy! And I cheered when Edgeworth's came up, because he and Phoenix were the only two characters whose names I knew before I started playing the game, and he has a cool outfit. (How does he pull off those ruffles?!) But all of the characters were really great. Except for Regina Berry. She looked too much like a Candybar doll, and it kind of freaked me out.

So I guess it's time to do some fanart, because von Karma will never have enough fanart, but we can always try, can't we?

Ohmigosh, ohmigosh! On the way back from my Uncle's house in Indiana (I have a car! That I don't know how to drive! But man, Grandpa had great taste) I BEAT THE CHAMPION IN PEARL!

I was so distressed, because I had just finished leveling everyone up to lv. 53 to lv. 55, because my first try didn't work-- Darn you Lucian and your awesome everything except your hair!-- and I flew in on my lv. 23 Noctowl, Archimedes. And then, I healed everybody, and walked through the door with Noctowl still in my team. I mean, I had considered doing something like that for bragging rights, but... but... So I tried going back through the door, but it was closed... and... and...

Bertha (2nd, ground type) was really easy both times I tried. Beat her with two Pokemon (Torterra and Floatzel). It was great. You should have seen it. But darn Flint and That Darn Rapidash! But so many of Lucian's Pokemon went down with one Crunch from my Luxray. 8/ It was kind of cool.

Gastrodon was a pushover to the max. :/ Whatever it threw at me was healed with Leech Seed, and I was just like... Okay, who in my team needs to be healed? Same with that dragony thing. And her last Pokemon is Roserade? PSSH.

And the news didn't report my stunning victory! My own game mom doesn't care! "Oh, China, Professor Rowan says there's a ship waiting for you!" YEAH, AND I'M THE LEAGUE CHAMPION. THAT'S NOT WORTHY OF REMARK AT ALL. GEEZ, MOM, GET WITH THE PROGRAM.

And then there's this Blaze guy who thinks he's hot stuff. No, Mr. Blaze Nobodystien of Nowhereville, you are not hot stuff. I am hot stuff. And I don't need no stinkin' Battle Tower to do my stuff. Let me surf on that water, losers.

The Girl-Wonder.org forums were hacked last night. I'm still boggling.

Okay, okay. Most people who read this don't even know what Girl Wonder is. That's okay. Here's some background.

Girl Wonder is a website dedicated to ending (or at least decreasing) sexism in mainstream comics, one of their main projects being getting the fourth Robin, Stephanie Brown, a memorial case in the Batcave (click around, please, it's pretty disgusting what they did). Mainly a symbolic gesture, sure. They're also at or near the center of controversies like the Mary-Jane Comiquette and the cover of Heroes for Hire #13. (Beware of clicking those links, by the way. No nudity, but not work safe.)

Needless to say, many comics fans do not like Girl Wonder and its advocates. (Bingo!) Most attacks on it have been ineffectual. A blog post here, a flame there... Not serious stuff.

So, suddenly, someone takes down the forums! They're easy enough to get back up, I hear, but really! Who has the time? What is the point? Can they really hate Girl Wonder that much?

Do people that bad really exist?

The Flash: See Wonder Woman, but they actually did get a new writer. The Cheaper By The Dozen guy. Geez. Things are better at Marvel, I swear. Iron Man has some cool armor. I hear Man 2nd, 2008.

Seriously, it looks and sounds AMAZING. Heck, the scenery alone was worth the price of the ticket. Now that is how you do a stage-- junk everywhere, but 3 times its normal size to be proportional, and constructed so that there are millions of possible entry points! When everyone came out in the opening number, it freaked me out-- they were EVERYWHERE! Out of NOWHERE! That opening number was the best thing I have ever seen on stage. Seriously, in parts it was just as good as the movie! Gus, The Theater Cat made me cry. Seriously. (Then, I am very easy to manipulate.)

One major flaw-- (Spoiler Alert) when Macavity (sp?) first appeared and threw off his cloak thing, where there should have been an instant change in lighting and big change in the music,* there was NOTHING. STILL ticks me off. The actors did great, but let's see some cooperation from the pit and lighting, huh?

Costumes, dancing (Man, Jennyanydots and Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer!), and overal music = A++, though. Whoo, that was a good performance. To hear the Pit director talk, the musical performances would be a train wreck, but no! Yay!


In Orchestra, we're getting this totally awesome arrangement of West Side Story. I just do not understand people who don't like any of the music from that show! The One Hand, One Heart sequence from the movie was pretty lame though. Too bad we don't get some of the Opening or the Jets Song or America or Officer Krupke in there. But we do have Maria, One Hand, One Heart (blech), Cool and Somewhere in there, so that's something, yanno? Even though we suck so far, it sounds really cool. I can't wait for us to get good!

So "that" and "it" is that Imperiex (huge mega crossover-type baddie from a few years back-- see Our Worlds at War) is the "big bad" in LOSH season 2. That is seriously the first thing I thought of when I read about the "galaxy-destroying" villain in a vague press release (or whatever that was; I'm typing this on the fly, man! I can't check my facts!). And Imperiex is hardly a Legion villain at all! (Again, feel free to correct me.) OMG!!

Oh, and Supergirl might be the new ally to the Legionaires in S2. I did some (read: two) sketches of possible looks, that I might post (you know me, such a ditz) in scraps. I hope that she'll show up, and that my sketches are close. Then again, someone at WB might see it and get rid of any design that looks even remotely like mine from the show-- they don't want to get sued. I hear that's what they do in Disney when fans send them ideas.

Seriously. The hall monitors were outside the school where kids are dropped off to tell us that. The moment mom and I drove out of there, I was doubled up in laughter. It doesn't sound funny, but it is. Was.

It's just as well; I got a new retainer yesterday, and I have this awful lisp to work through. Really, why does "lisp" have an "s" in it? Nobody who has a lisp can say it without lisping! What, does the point need enhancing? I also have a big bump on my head from when I crashed into a wall, but it's not that important.

It's also kind of a shame, because this is the last day of school before midterms. What a bother! Geometry sounded like it would be horribly boring, but now I can't find out!

Somebody did this in another nearby school district in November (I think). I'm almost positive that somebody is trying to copy them, because when our Civics teacher told us about it, half the class said, "Oh... That's a really good idea!"

I came across the list awhile ago (on Cataclysmic-Phantom's journal, thanks!), but never actually got around to trying it out (read: it scared the crap outta me). Now I've sucked in my fear and am finally beginning to take... THE 100 THEMES CHALLENGE!

Because on that day, Happy Feet comes out, I go to a concert, a project for Civics is due, David and Lisa was set to premiere (but it was moved), and I've been seeing the date in so many other places it's just not funny. I seem to have lost all my will to draw. I mean, I think of something, and I never draw it-- it's quite annoying. Like Writer's Block, only I'm not writing anything.


Wonder Woman

So yeah. Dad got me the complete seasons one and two of the Wonder Woman TV show (with Linda Carter and Lyle Waggoner). It's actually pretty good. One of my (few) complaints is that in the first season, everyone's a Nazi. Seriously. Secretary? Nazi. Journalist? Nazi. Old lady? Nazi. Fast food guy? Nazi. I mean, I know there was spying going on during WWII, but honestly!

So I like the second season more. It's really odd how you don't realize that Wonder Woman is running around in a bathing suit, though. Unless I specifically call it to my attention, I don't really care. Strange.

Perhaps some background is needed.

The 8th grade string orchestra for our school traditionally participates in MSBOA Orchestra Festival. Basically, you go to a random high school, and your orchestra plays a concert of three pieces you've been practicing for months. You also have to sightread two pieces. Judges grade you on a scale from 1 (best) to 5 (lousy, lousy, lousy), and if we get a 1 overall, you don't have to turn in practice charts for the rest of the year.

Needless to say, the stakes are pretty high.

The thing is, since about a week ago, some second violins and a viola (one of my own!) have been tormenting me with fart noises.

Yes, fart noises.

I know for a fact that they are targeted at me, because not only am I the only one affected, the blame for the "farts" is placed upon me whenever they can get away with it. They can get away with it during festival (when we're not playing, of course).

And that's the background. On to the story.

Today in orchestra we didn't play, because we listened to a CD of ourselves playing and discuss it. Because we kicked butt (we were better than anyone else there!), there really wasn't much to discuss other than how much we rock.

So anyway, we're listening to ourselves play "Themes from Vivaldi's Gloria". I heard a fart noise. I whipped around and stared at the offending second violin, Adam.

And stared. And stared. And stared.

Eventually he put up a stand between us, but still I stared. And stared. And stared.

And eventually I gave up, because he had put up second stand and I couldn't keep my face straight.

Our Orchestra teacher gave us the last part of class (25 minutes?) to just talk. Well, not just talk, but you know how that goes.

We bunched up into little groups (as people our age are prone to do). The group I was in consisted of my two closest friends in Orchestra, who we shall call Caraina and Maria. (areyouhappy came over for a bit to talk about a request I'm doing for her, also).

The other group I noticed consisted of our main offenders. We shall call them Adam (remember him?), Jose, Michael and Kelly, because those are their names.

Once I got handed a tissue because our Orchestra teacher "said so" (no she didn't).

Another time I had to applaud the other sides gall because they said they all had beans for lunch, "explaining" the fart noises.

Jose kept bugging me to go over to him so he could tell me his "deepest, darkest secret."

Then Michael came up and asked for my number.

I got myself out of that by moving out of my seat. I ended up behind the offenders, who were gossiping about their actions.

Jose called me over.

He said it was to tell me his "secret."

What he said was, "Isn't Maria a man?"


You should have seen the look on his face when I pushed him over.


Seriously, it was great! I would have punched him, but I can't really punch anyone without stopping myself.

There was a group of girls standing in a semi-circle facing away from us, and they all turned around at once, their faces just like Jose's. I think the whole class looked over. I calmly walked away. Or tried.

"She broke the chair!"

Yes, said our teacher, the chair was broken. One of the feet had come off. She said the custodian had to fix it.

I pretty near sprinted to my chair.

"I think I'm going to curl up in a ball and die now."

Caraina and Maria just stared.

Caraina: "She didn't do it. She's too nice for that. She was just walking by and suddenly Jose just falls over."

Me: "Shut up."

Caraina: "Ssh!"

I am quite suprised that I didn't get detention on the spot. Maybe, as Maria says, our teacher doesn't like him either.

We all sit together during Science, our next class, and that was worktime, so we got to discuss it a lot. Thankfully, we were the only people just coming from orchestra.

I'm suprised how quickly the rumor mill moves, though. There were only two classes after Orchestra, and already my story seems to have gotten to the sixth graders. Granted, said story involves me punching a kid that won't shut up and knocking him unconcious. (I wish, I wish, I wish)

Another version involves me shouting and jump-tackling him, breaking a chair in the process. I hear that rainbowme321 supports this one, on the basis that I'm really good at releasing my anger all at once. Thank you, Aqua. Thank you.

Artist's Block! (And Other Art-Related Things)
I really can't think of anything to draw myself, and when I can, I can't draw it, so I'm in sort of a rut. I have a couple of requests from friends at school, and I'm going to do a contest picture, but otherwise, I'm dead art-wise.

Pah, I'll be out of it soon. Besides, I found a great style of inking, eyes, and hair that I'm trying out! It's great.

Where does this line of logic come from? I honestly don't get it. Draco and Harry hate each other! Same with Rei and Minako from PGSM! And Gary and Ash! And Hermione and Snape! And Harry and Snape! Why, oh, why would they fall in love?

Oh, I forget, they're not Draco and Harry. They're Sex!God!Draco or Abused!Draco and Angsty!Harry or maybe Masta!Assasin!Harry. Of course.

The high-school counselors visited today.

I need to take two years of language to get into college. I also can't give up Orchestra. I want to take Fundamental Design. I can take four semesters of electives. The first year of language takes up two semesters. Orchestra takes up two semesters. Fundamental Design takes up one semester, and I am going crazy about this. But I'm planning to join a lot of clubs, so that'll be okay.

I've taken to listening to the oldies on the radio. I don't know why I typed that, I just did. That means this journal should now end.

So, yeah. First day back from break... It went a lot faster than I thought it would. Except for orchestra, because I forgot my viola. And that's terrible.

But during break, I got to see my Grandma; my Uncle Henry; my Uncle Jim; my Uncle Warner (mom was the only girl child. there are two more brothers, but I never see them); his wife Aunt Gabby; and my two girl cousins, Emily and Barbara! They're both artists, so it was great to see 'em. Emily's a cartoonist, and Barbara's great with a needle and thread. And they've both graduated High School. It was cool.

Okay, on to the title of the journal! I have decided that each New Years, I shall go through all of my deviations from the past year and add an extra comment at the end of the description so you'll have to suffer through descriptions even more wordy than the ones before! So go check out my deviations for new stuff!... I'm gonna have fun, at least.
Yes, something such as this would go better at the end of a full year at dA, but I think I'm gonna do something else then.

I got colored pencils! And best of all, I have the soundtrack to The Music Man blaring on the stereo all hours of the day and night! SEV-EN-TY-SIX TROM-BONES LED THE BIG PAR-ADE--

This, of course, has a good impact on my art output, and a very bad impact on my sanity. Yes, Gary, Indiana or Trouble sound great on the CD, but once you get 'em stuck in your head-- Very distracting. Oh well.

I'm going away to Grandma's and won't be back 'till Sunday. And that's it on life! Random thoughts!

Kurt Busiek is the best comic book writer in the history of ever. Case in point: Astro City: The Tarnished Angel. It is the best. No wonder, it won it's creators "numerous industry awards". I reccomend it highly. I've gotta quote it in my sig. Soo good. I'd love to point out specifics, it's just that the whole thing is just perfect...
When the Ovaltine instructions say "8 oz of milk" and "4 tsp of Ovaltine", they don't mean it. Really. Go wild. I just found that out yesterday...

I haven't been drawing much at all lately; I've become addicted to the internet. Not deviantART for some reason-- I've taken up lurking at comic book forums. Yes, I'm a freak. But the LEGENDS OF BATMAN! thread at the superdickery.com forum make me a happy freak. Deadly Ninja Lemurs... Yay...

Um, yeah. The sketchbook that my very good real-life friend Caraina gave me is really helping, though. And I won't doodle on tests anymore!

But I'm still not on dA much. As such, I have so many people to catch up with... Sometime in January, I swear.

Is there an Almighty Tallest (from Invader Zim) fansite that someone could direct me to? They're awesome.
