What's been going on...

Hello everyone, as much as I'd love to bask in the aftermath of AX-dom, I'm afraid I must replace my previous journal already. For the next two weeks I'll be traversing across Europe! Hurrah! I won't have time to go on the computer much by the looks of it, and I'm actually a bit bummed that I won't be able to draw much since I'm being shipped away. However, I'm sure it'll be fun.

As for what's going on. I bought the Soul Eater Art Book, and I literally feel like I sold my soul to get that thing. (Excuse the pun). But seriously. It is godly, I'm seriously contemplating wearing gloves from now on whenever I touch it. It's beautiful. The latest chapter in the manga for Soul Eater has got me on a Soul Eater high. So amazing. I will not spoil anything for those who don't read but for those who do... join me please in a communal. "OMGAWD YASSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

Very awesome, I love the new uniforms too, and Kid looks mighteh smexeh in one panel. -le swoon-.

So my recent hype of Soul Eater really got me antsy to get back into Project Shibusen ==>

However, my partner seems to kind of have moved on from the challenge. So I'm teaming up with the lovely and talented

. I told her about it and she's totally down for the challenge. We already got four drawings completed of the 100! Hoorah! Blanc makes a come back, look forward to see a bunch of updates of him and Anna (new meister) when I get back

What's been going on...

Wow. What can I say? It was a really fun con. I bumped into a whole bunch of people from high school, dA, and even middle school. It was really a memorable experience.

To start off, it was my first time at the Artist Alley, the first day I was alone, but for the rest of the time I was with the very talented

. She was the one cranking out chibi portraits in 10 minutes. She was extremely popular

. I got visited by the lovely

which I was able to show a preview of the current request I am doing for her. Meanwhile, throughout the con I also met up with

, and

(who was my awesome Maka booth babe and my eternal AX traversing partner).

It was lots of fun having a booth, so much I learned. For one thing, I overprinted like crazy. But on a good note I made enough to pay off for my $50 AX ticket, $50 table, and $170 in printing costs. So I was really pleased. Hahaha. But there were definitely some prints that just didn't do so hawt. And I know better now

. I'm trying to look into PMX to see if they have an Artist Alley of sorts that I could also go too. Ho'well. We'll see what happens.

I was kind of bummed out that I didn't get to wander as much and look at as many cosplays, but the table experience was definitely worth it. I got over my fear of drawing in front of people pretty quickly. Something I've been cursed with since I started drawing. Who knew that it would just take a con filled with thousands of people to get me over it. Hahaha. Well, I feel like my art has approved immensely from the experience just because I received a boost in confidence. I definitely know a little better as to what I'm getting myself into next year.

was my wonderful helper who woke up every morning at like 7:30am to take me to the booth to setup! My eternal thanks he also got awesome pictures from cosplayers that I missed out seeing due to being stuck behind a booth. He also made an observation in saying that my art was really pretty different from most of the art in the Artist Alley. Which I guess is a good thing. xD.

On another note. My cosplaying partner in crime

and I decided on something. That we should work on cosplaying without intending for the costume to be for a con. Rather, that we should just make the costume for doing photoshoots and our own personal enjoyment of adding to our cosplaying wardrobes. Our current musing is to actually make a cosplay group of Soul Eater. I would cosplay Soul.

. Whaddya think? Hahaha.

What's been going on...

Hello everyone! Been a while since I've updated! I've been busy making prints for Anime Expo this year. I will be selling with my friend

I'm really nervous =__=;;. I've been working nonstop since I got out of school on prints. it's surprisingly tough work but I'm happy xD.

Well as for the prints I'll be selling: Mostly new stuff, but I was thinking about making prints of some existing work. Only some though.

I'm working on an Ouran one right now (Hikaru x Haruhi x Kaoru). Maybe a Naruto in the future?

I'll be cosplaying as Kuchiki Rukia from Bleach again this year. I wasn't able to make a costume this year because I was working on the prints >w<. Gomen ne! Hopefully no one will mind having another Rukia run around the convention this year again?

What's been going on...

I had a fabulous spring break, I chopped off 14 inches of my hair and donated it to [link] . Now I'm sporting a cherry-red bob xD. I feel very "light-headed". Forgive the pun! xD

to the Utada Listening Party @ Hollywood's Sephora! I was extremely happy to show support for her new English album release. I'm in love with it <3. We unfortunately didn't get a picture or autograph since Utada had to catch a flight to New York.

I was just happy to see her.

And finally...

I got a table at Anime Expo 2009's Artist Alley 0__0!

Mixed feelings. I've been wanting this for so long. But I don't think my art has ever been in any more of a slump than it is now. Hopefully this will get me crackin' and drawing! Please, any ideas of prints are welcome and loved!

Some possibilities: Code Geass, Vampire Knight, Bleach, Naruto... I must think in terms of things that would both be fun to draw and sell as well! (The table cost $100! Oy vey! Hopefully I can offset that in sales >w<

What's been going on...

You'd think that by the time you spend 14+ years of your life in school, being taught all these different things and being introduced to multiple things that could possibly interest you, you'd find some kind of focus.

I'd hate to break it to you, but I believe this to be grossly unrealistic.

I'm at this place in my life, where I feel that I should have some kind of direction, everyone's figuring out what they want to do with their lives, and are getting a start on working toward their goals. But for the most part, their dreams are practical ones. They are ambitious in their goals to become doctors, engineers, and scientists.

I keep on coming back to the question. What does art play a role in my life? Am I good enough to take it seriously as a profession? Am I kidding myself?

On one hand, the artistic world is a tough one, highly subjective and completely unreliable when competing with thousands of other talented people. And then there's the other hand, every profession will be filled with competition. Might as well spend the time competing with something you want to do.

In the end, I want to spend the rest of my life dedicated to something I LOVE to do. It's frustrating.

WTF am I gonna do.

What's been going on...

Posting from my lecture right now. I'm so horrible -__-.

Not much has happened since my last entry. I'm trying to finish up stuff. I feel so bad, I say I'll accept requests, and then I procrastinate for like months. But anyway. I'm just happy I still have time to draw at all.

I've been taking a VisArt class here. It's kept me on my feet in the sense that it gets me off my lazy ass and forces me to keep some of my skills... like.. there xD.

Emotionally it's been kind of rollercoaster-y. But I suppose that's just comes with dorm life =__=.

What's been going on...

So. I've officially moved into my dorm and gotten settled at school. Roommates are awesome. Suitemates are awesome. Classes have not started, so it is, by default, awesome as well.

Everyone at my school seems really awesome. I'm anxious yet nervous to start classes. And my roommates and suitemates totally surprised me by being pretty into anime and cosplay.

I'm not so sure if I could get any of them to cosplay with me in a group or anything though, but it's awesome nonetheless.

I will be checking out the Anime club on campus. xD Seeing if I can handle the fandom. Might be a bit overwhelming given the fact that I'm not used to hanging out with a group of people who can relate to gushing about anime.

I'm happy. But, unfortunately, the trade off is that I've been pretty busy so I hope I can still finish the commisions and the

xD Fun.

So I inhaled about 4 entire series as summer came to a close. I got caught up with KHR manga and watched the anime up to eighty-something of the sort. Watched Vampire Knight. Watched Code Geass both seasons (waiting for the last two episodes of the 2nd season). And Soul Eater. And D.Gray-Man.

What's been going on...

Most of my friends have left off for college-land. I'm a bit lonely. But I'm also excited with the new promise of a new environment. I'm excited to go to college.

. My two roommates seem really awesome, which is a relief, I hope we all get along well.

I have a class at 8:00am.-bonk- xD. Such a bummer. But it's an art class that's only available once a year and is required if I want to take any other advanced art classes. I won't be able to take Japanese this quarter after all. -cries-

Nerdily enough, one of the things I kind of have been pondering about is the fresh new pool of people I'll be meeting. It would be lovely if I could stumble upon some cosplayers in the area. Cosplaying seems so much more fun with a big group. I kind of had a group this year at AX, but it was moreso just me making all the costumes for free, and getting minimal gratitude -stifling irritation-. And the lovely and talented sewing master

What's been going on...

Anime Expo 2008 was definitely one of the best cons ever. In fact it was one of the best couple days ever. I was just really happy I could hang out with some friends doing what I love before I left for a month.

I've been in Taipei, Taiwan for about a week. It's been alright. Kind of hectic. I'm in a studying abroad camp with a bunch of kids from around the world. Yes, hectic indeed.

I miss my friends.

Taiwan nightmarkets are love. Shopping is love. Eating is love. I'm going to be so fat. The only downside is that all of the clothes comes in size "teeny weeny asian girl".

G'damnit.

What's been going on...

I'm officially no longer a high school student. Woooh! Hahaha. Makes me kind of sad. And kind of happy.

This sounds awful, but lately I've been to preoccupied with AX preparations to really sit and feel nostalgic. I finished my friends shinigami uniform, and am currently finishing up a Karakura school girl uniform. I still have to style 2 wigs and finish one costume as well as fix up an old one that's being recycled for the 3rd year in a row.

I got a fancy new laptop and that's what I'm using now. I absolutely love it. I'm pretty much attached at the hip with it. It doesn't help that I already spent a ridiculous amount of time on the computer, now that it can MOVE around with me wherever I go, I'm doomed. It is red. And sexy. I named it Riingo.

Anime Expo = pretty much what I'm obsessed with right now.
And then I'll be off to Taiwan for a month or so.

I'll miss you all!

I'll be doing Kuchiki Rukia for AX'08. Silly I know, what stopped me from doing it last year was the fact that I was too tall. But, I might have a group-thing going on, and in that sense my height won't be TOO inappropriate. Our Chad is like crazy tall. >w<.

As for Lenalee... I'm not sure if I'll have time for her after all. But I'll do her eventually so I don't waste the pleather I bought. >w<.

What's been going on...

I got into college! Woohoo! I was bummed at first because I kind of got rejected by UCLA, USC, and Berkeley.

Anyway, I have an "artwork" folder on my desktop filled with all my sketches, lineart, and colored stuff.

I usually upload just the colored stuff. But I was thinking... aww. that's a pity since I think the lineart and sketches tend to turn out better. So I guess I'll try uploading all my old lineart, and then scrapping them after I've uploaded the colored version when I get to it.

I recently went to Little Tokyo and ran around for fun with my friends after visiting the Murakami exhibit for the 2nd time. I bought two little Murakami keychains (The dino and the crack smiley flower). Then we went to an anime store, and I bought my awesome Puzzle Fighter bag. Then I bought a pill box to hold pills in. It was a really cute pill box too xD.

My friends totally wiped out the stores of Pocky, Pretz, and Konpeito.

We had some awesome Soba. So refreshing!

Such a fun day. And lots of exercise too. I want to go back again.

I really should start worrying about my finals.

I'm thinking about scrapping my webcomic idea "See No Evil" because the new movie "The Eye" came out, and the concept is similar (Though the stories are really different).

(I'm aware that "The Eye" was a remake of another japanese movie guys xD)

So if you think I should scrap it and go with another idea for a webcomic, tell me. Or perhaps I should do a doujin first.

What's been going on...

I finished my college apps. I only applied to a few schools in state. A part of me would have loved to go east but seriously. It's too freakin' cold over there. I'm just hoping I get into the school that I was aiming for. Senior year has been pretty mellow. I'm doing well... enough that is.

Personally, I think I've been slacking. But looking back I've done a lot since the start of the semester. Also, I've been updating my art more frequently.

Oh yes, I plan on launching a webcomic around January, entitled "See No Evil".

Please do take a look at it.

As for a portfolio, I didn't bother. Personally I lacked time to make the material they were looking for. I think I'll just try to get into a school, get a foundation and then pursue art if I stil love it.

What's been going on...

In my previous entry I tried to feature 10 DA artists. I didn't even get that many replies so. xD I guess if you really think me featuring would help you at all go ahead and note me asking me to do so.

However, since I do believe that I don't have much influence, I'll be putting future featureing on a hiatus I guess.

Well, I had wanted to do a portfolio initially, but then stuff got complicated, and then I didn't want to make a premature decision anout the DesMA major at UCLA without checking it out first.

I think I'm going to try to be a little bit more organized in my journal posts. I've also decided to become more active on DA. Joining clubs on such (Currently only one, but working on a few more!)

I guess I'm too self-conscious of the quality of my work. But slowly and surely I'm starting to care less.

Recently I've been getting into D.Grayman. It's ridiculous. I ordered volumes 4-7 of the manga series since there was a deal on the Barnes and Noble site. Something about fast and free shipping, actually took about a week and a half. Should be coming today. The only thing I'm looking forward to actually.

Other than that, I suffered from two days without internet. So I got into Kingdom Hearts II and Solitaire. KH II. I never finished it, so I guess getting back into it is understandable. But, wtf? Solitaire? Surprisingly addicting, I swear.

Current Weighted GPA stands at: 4.02

Hahahaha, I barely hit my goal xD. But I suppose I can get into a UC with that, how good of a UC depends on if I can bring everything else up to par.

Coming with the end of the year, graduation season came too. I couldn't go to the seniors' high school graduation but I did get the chance to go to my sister's college graduation thing. It was an experience that was pretty crazy and interesting and makes the high school graduation look overly sentimental.

After school ended, I had three major concerns: Get my CATAP teaching material done, finish my and Nancy's costumes for AX'07, and buy all the stuff I needed for my CATAP trip.

If you didn't already know, CATAP stands for Chinese Americans Teaching Abroad Program, or at least I think it does. I'll be going to China for a month to teach English to kids at a school near Shanghai. It'll be a fun experience, and I'm totally pumped and leaving tomorrow, which is partially the reason I decided to post, to give an excuse for my lack of posting for the next month since I don't know if I will be able to access my computer.

Yesterday I just got back from 2 AMAZING days of Anime Expo 2007 goodness. I cosplayed as Haruno Sakura from Naruto Shippuuden, and I also made Nancy's costume for Kuchiki Byakuya from Bleach.

I got a lot of picture requests so it was really fun, but I think the most memorable one was the one where a family asked to take a picture with me i had like a Dad and three kids surrounding me and felt like Mickey Mouse at Disneyland. Hahahha.

I bought lots of lovelies. 3 awesome prints. (one from the lovely and ) another from 1 sweater. 2 Doujins. Total damage about $120.

We stayed for one night in the Marriot in Long Beach and I shared a room with Nancy, Ken, Michael, and Jackie(). OMG. So fun. I can't wait to do it again next year. So many memories.

I also saw my friend Shushan() in the artist alley selling her amazing prints! I was so excited hahaha. xD

I'll post pictures later since I'm too damn lazy.

Amidst all the recent highs, I also witnessed one of my lows. Unfortunately for the first time I suffered from a death from someone close to me in my family. It was an awkward and unique experience that I don't really feel like expanding upon.

I feel optimistic about drawing again.

I'm a shy person when it comes to art, I'm easily intimidated. I've come to accept the fact that I will not be the best artist in the whole entire world, and to demand perfection at this point from myself is just self-destructive, to myself as an artist as well as myself as a person.

I'm learning to let go. To just let what I want to draw come out when I want to draw it.

And quite honestly, it feels good.

I used to not even attempt perspective drawing because I knew it wouldn't be good. But avoiding it wasn't getting me anywhere, I'm happy, in short.

So in the end, this Spring Break was quite a revelation to me, too bad the timing was poor because I have 3 AP tests to study for, SATs, SAT II, ACT, and finals leering in the next couple of months.

But now that I feel less pressure when I draw, I think I've stumbled upon a way to make myself happier.

I honestly want to thank all the people that watch me, and also those who are take interest enough in some of my work to fav them! Thank you!

I'm approaching my 2000th page view. Not much to many, I know, but it's an achievement in itself.

First of all, I got a lovely set of COPIC markers, and I'm completely smitten with them. I've only colored one piece with them but the outcome made me really excited to try drawing more with them.

I also got a Tiffany's Elsa Peretti "Eternal Circle" necklace. I wear it everywhere xD.

I also got a Harajuku Lovers' purse that I had been eyeing for a while, yes, now people can't make fun of me for my ghetto hobo target purse for 5 bucks.

Yay. I'm completely spoiled to death, but in contrast we didn't celebrate Christmas this year so those were sort of like my Christmas presents. woot.

Man, this coming year is going to be tough as hell. But...

Nonetheless, I still am pretty shy when I draw those kinds of things, like a five-year old feeling awkward watching a major make out scene in a movie-- that kinda deal.

I'm nothing short of ecstatic!
I know it'll take lots of diligent practice, so I hope that I won't be too disappointed if the outcome isn't as I imagine (glorify more like) in my mind to be.

I'm afraid that I may just be using markers because of my frustration with CGing, since I lack patience for something that I can't control in front of me.

I need practice, I know that. It's a matter of facing things it and acting upon it that needs work.

Things to look forward to...

I plan on doing beverage/snack themed people... okay, now before you raise an eyebrow in inquiry... I'll upload the first one once I'm finished and I guess the theme will be a bit more clear.

Remember guys and gals, never give up doing something you love, lately, I've been sulking from my lack of talent compared to others on DA, but... a truly strong artist is( or would seem to be) someone who is strong enough to believe in themselves to fuel their creation.
