What I been up to:

- Got a new job with a large mail order clothing chain and will be moving into the creative dept! (YIPPEE!!! )

- Planning a birthday for my twins! THEY TURN 5 ON THE 26th!!
5?!? tahts like half a decade... AND THEY START SCHOOL IN AUG... mah babehs are all grown up!!!

- Completing inventory for the launch of my website!!!! I AM HAVING TROUBLE FOCUSING MY AESTHETIC. damn my eclectic taste. Im mostly focusing on fall accesories right now + I have ordered ALL new labels and will show them off as soon as they're in my hot little hands.

- Fighting a flu bug. All this running around has short-circuited my immune system.
*sigh*...getting sick in the summer is so wrong.

During this time Ill just be drawing and knitting and probably drawing some more.
I forget how nice it is to just sketch something without it having to become something else.
SO REFRESHING!!

Everything ive been producing lately is HIGHLY ROMANTICAL.
I dunno where its coming from...

"Ok ... its ok," I told myself. "I've serged through entire sleeves before and managed to salvage them. I can fix this."

On saturday I mortally wounded the dress I have been SLAVING over for almost a month. I had been trimming a seam unnecessarily and in my haste cut right through 2 layers of fabric and the chiffon top layer.

Cool and collected *cause imma pro *I tried to patch it.
BUT IT TOTALLY LOOKED LIKE CRAP!!!! O_O
The slice was more like a gash and so I knew it wasnt going to be easily repairable... but I had to keep hope alive...
for my cousin...
and for ALLLLL the hours I put into that damn thing.
My mother was going to pay to send the dresses but needed to wait till she got paid so I figured I had some time to fix things.
My cousin called asking about the dress yesterday and I lied saying it was "great" cause I had an appointment today with a great friend/mentor who I thought could fix the problem.
My friend gave some great advice but since there isnt anymore chiffon or silk, all of her ideas revolved around completely altering the design.

Since there's no time anyway (my cousin needed the dress by wed ) Im gonna hafta just come clean to her so she can at least spend this weekend shopping for a dress. I will send her the matching little girls dress and reimburse her the money for the materials as well. *sigh*

Heres something fun and reflective for everyone to try

Things To Do Within The Next Thirty Days:

1. contact a friend you havent talked to in awhile just to say hi and reconnect.
2. go for a walk. Oh and not like walking wherever it is you walk to usually (ie mailbox, work, school) but actually stepping out to explore an area you might not be familiar with or have just never taken the time to appreciate.
3. Eat something REALLY GOOD. Not like good for you necessarily but something you truly love and enjoy eating. sit down and eat as much of it as you want and feel no guilt. Yes, you can blame me and wear that extra pound happily.
4. write yourself a note. It can be a joke you heard or a long confessional. YES THIS MAY FEEL WEIRD AT FIRST but it can be funny to go back and read it. Try writing about something you've never told ANYONE. haha watch as you squirm trying to just get it on paper. THEN FOR THE LOVE OF GOODNESS BURN THAT MOFO AND BURY THE ASHES!!!
You dont want your business in the street...
5. Kiss your mom. Or your Dad or your grandma or whoever the hell you reside with and/or care about and tell them thank you and NOTHING ELSE... & IF THEY ASK DO NOT EXPLAIN TO THEM WHY YOU HAVE ACTED SO OUT OF THE ORDINARY. They'll be happy in the end... and really, love should need no explanation.
6. Go to a private secluded place and do a dance you saw someone do that looked cool. I like to do this in the bathroom with the shower running so no one can hear. I suspect many may already be doing this so just sorta act like Im crazy and your secret wont be revealed.
7. look at the sky. Were the stars out last night? Most cant answer this cause they dont take the time to notice. Do this during the day (clouds are fun!) and at night.
8. sing out loud in the car to a song you know. Wilson Phillips? Queen? Its your call...
9. Talk to a telemarketer. Hey theyre just trying to keep their lights on like everybody else. give them a break...
BUT DONT BUY WHAT THEY'RE PEDDLING. EVEN THEY KNOW ITS A SHAM...
10. Do something nice for somebody else. Whether its holding a door open for someone or letting the tired looking lady with the bunch of kids go ahead of you at grocery checkout, little bits of nice can make people feel better. Imagine how much nicer the world would be if everyone practiced compassion regularly.

My heart goes out to all those who have been affected by the troubled souls of a few. Whether residing here in the US or overseas, I love and pray for you all.

I went to the auditions on the 9th and CRAZY ensued.
Since I hate how reality shows DRAG out the finals, Ive setup this post for you to to skip the entertaining drama and jump to the results!

THE DRAMA: I was preparing to go and realized I had somehow LOST the leather strap that was essential in holding up the silver dupioni look's top!!! I panicked and grabbed a ribbon that had been in my sewing kit to use in its place and figured I could tack it to the top while waiting in line (ugh). I got to the Westin and went next door to starbucks to grab a drink and stitch the top together. I asked a nice lady if I could sit with her and as we talked I found out she was Trish from Blogging Project Runway!!
This designer named Jason something had been rejected then called back in but his models had already left so he and his friend were blanketing times square in search of 3 people they could use as replacement models (they even recruited one of the girls that was working at the starbucks)!!! They were at the table next to us just going crazy feverishly styling the girls they had found. Thats when Trish suggested I find a model the same way to really showcase my outfit.
Picture me on busy 42nd st, portfolio in one hand garments in the other stopping strangers in the street begging them to be my model. Two people said yes but couldnt wait in line for an indefinite length of time. Defeated I returned to the line and made friends with the designer ahead of me, Anna and her AWESOME MODEL (6', 115-ish pound STUNNER who was actually her sister in law and a medical biller! She didnt even have any interest in BECOMING a model ).
THEN these 2 girls (Christina and Noel ) walked in planning to see Blades of Glory and paused to ask why we were waiting in line. Tina was the taller one so I jumped at the opprotunity. She loved project runway, had modeling experience, was over 18 and she and Noel had agreed to waiting in line with me!!!
She changed in the restroom of Chevy's and the sweetheart even wore Noel's stilettos that were 3 sizes too small. She fit the outfit PERFECTLY (and was getting cat calls like CRAZY) and wanted to know if she could buy the skirt!
I paid for their movie as a thankyou and if they ever read this Id like to say THANKS AGAIN LOVES!!! YOU GUYS WERE A LIFESAVER!!!! I even flashed her booty to the screener and she handled it like a pro.

RESULTS: The screener LOVED the look and my porfolio! She said my construction was awesome but since my 3 pieces (my coat, the top and skirt) didnt look like they could be part of the same collection she was sad that she couldnt let me through to see TIM!!! GET THIS She suggested I run to get a piece that goes AND COME BACK (she was even sadder when I explained I was from AZ) or go to the new LA audition (thats rumored to be on the 13th) or COME BACK NEXT YEAR.
The girls were like GO TO LA
so my BEST FRIEND (I LOVE YA JENNIFER!!!!) is working to see what she can do to get me back to california since Im totally broke.
WE SHALL SEE
The screeners were super mean and rude to MANY of the designers, rejecting them before even inspecting their work (they were seriously turning people away left and right, we weren't in line longer than 30mins), so if anything Im just glad I couldve made it and Ill definitely be going next year if I cant make it to LA.

BTW- I registered AnnickaJ.com and my page will be up and running shortly.
People will finally be able to order my clothes!

WHY WAS I HIT BY A CAR ON 4/3?!?!?
well not like run over by a car, but I was plowed into (while in a car ) by another car driven by an idiot.

Since I dont have a car currently and I needed to run some errands, my mom let me drop her off at work to borrow her car. I was done with everything I needed to do when I drove past DSW and had a sudden pump craving (damn addictions ). I did a u-turn about a block up from the intersection, and as I approached the light I noticed cars were turning (left hand turns) on my green.
I said out loud to myself "Damn these fools are stupid! The light is green... OH SHIT--"
BOOM

Some cracked out broad hits me dead on.

all I remember was opening my eyes in a cloud of funky airbag smoke/dust and being surrounded by twisted plastic and glass. Oh yeah, and having enough in me to opening the door (what was left of it) to scream "YOU HIT ME YOU CRAZY BITCH!!!" before reeling back in pain.

The paramedics arrived at the scene pretty quick and took me to the hospital. After a quick examination, tetnus shot and painkillers I had to call my mom to tell her her car was totalled (ugh*) and call my dad for a ride. NOW THIS IS THE REAL REAL CRAZY PART
Why did my father and I need to be escorted out of the hospital by security?!?!?
After the police ruled it was her fault, the stupid trick called her family and while I was being cared for they were causing drama in the waiting room, talkin bout I needed to come out and they were gonna do this and that to me. The police removed them from the hospital but thought they might be hanging out in the parking lot waiting for me since someone called the hospital claiming to be my sister waiting outside to pick me up, but mispronounced my name...

Now isnt that some of the most ignorant bullshit ever?!?!?

I'M MAD BECAUSE I GOT CITED FOR MY RECKLESS DRIVING, SO NOW IM GOING TO BUILD AN ASSAULT CHARGE TO HELP PROVE MY INNOCENCE!

Im sore AS HELL right now but im ok. I have lots of painkillers (halleluyah for vicodin ) and two children to fetch things that are close to the ground lol.
And Im still going to NY dammit *snap*
Plus i went to DSW tonight and got 2 pairs or the PERFECT shoes! Hurray!!

PROJECT RUNWAY FUCK!!!!!!!!!

Im in San Diego.
I missed my friends wedding to put the final touches on a few different pieces (I made the pockets dress cause Im an over achieving retard) and decided to leave on sunday for the LA auditions...
My friend says she'll take me into LA so my stupid self decides "hey Ill make something better than these perfectly fine jacket that I was going to present. So I made the silver dupioni ensemble.
It took me ALL NIGHT and most of the morning to construct.
Im ready to go at around noon. My friend has to wait for her lil sister (who modeled for the pics which I will upload!) to watch the kids so we can leave.
1 o'clock rolls around
then 2 o'clock

we've called her about 70 times by now and its 3pm. She finally shows up and says shes ready to go.
GO?!
She thought she was going to model the dresses for me in LA but since she is only 17 she isnt legally able to per the contest rules.
I explained this and upset SHE LEFT!!!!!!!! saying she had somethi ng else she had to do and couldnt just stay and babysit.

so my option was to go alone, drive 2hours, find this place and parking, wait in line for a few hours and drive about 2 hours back. Mind you Im already fighting sleep and I needed to finish the application!!!!! AND if Id have know about this I would have slept the night before and left that morning!!!!!!!!!!

SO NEEDLESS TO SAY i DIDNT GO.
So I wasted mad money coming to san diego FOR NOTHING
and now if I want to go to the audition Ill have to shell out at least $323 to fly to NY this weekend.

SHOULD I EVEN BOTHER GOING NOW!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

UPDATE ON ME!!!!

Yes, I AM ALIVE.
Some points on whats up with me now

Soooooo sorry bout PD5 but SO MANY CONGRATS TO LRENAH!!!! She and Linzwinz had AMAZING designs!!!!

Battled a deadly flu strain and won!! seriously. My kidneys, liver and gallbladder were inflammed (doctor said my gallbladder had sludge in it???).
It started on sat and I was pretty much unconscious on sun and mon (cept for occasional hallucination). Tues morning my mom intervened and dragged me to the hospital. The doctor seemed concerned by my pain locations and symptoms so he had 4 nurses hook me up to an iv (it took 4 nurses digging around in my arm to find 1 o' my tiny veins ugh) and I spent the next 14 1/2 hours getting prodded and tested for EVERYTHING under the sun with sonagrams and xrays and blood.
At one point I contemplated walking out of the hospital. It was friggin FREEZING in the place and all I had on was that thin lil gown and a sheet. The nurse told me that there had been so many people at the hospital that day they had run out of pillows and blankets. Seriously, the only thing that kept me in that bed was the thought of removing my own iv. *cringe*
The scenes in the movies where people pull it out themselves are TOTALLY crap... lol
After ALL that they sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics and anti-nausea med. And to top it off since it took so long my mom had to leave to work so I ended up having to take the bus home....
Im just relieved to be ok. Doctors don't realize how much they can freak patients out by just their demeanor... I friggin thought I was gonna die from the way his whole attitude changed after looking at me...

I went to NY!!!!!!!
The trip was AMAZING!!!! I didnt get to do everything I had wanted to due to the weather (damn snow!! ) but I toured Parsons (and saw Tim Gunn!! *me=geeked out* ) and checked out FIT and their awesome fashion museum. If you get a chance to go please do!!! The couture exhibit downstairs is INCREDIBLE and gives alot of insight to the construction of those wonderful gowns (I always wondered what they looked like underneath). Oh and if you go, don't bother taking the tour, just talk to Chris the security guard about the upstairs exhibit (she told me all about the Pierre Cardin eggcrate dress), and the guard downstairs about the gowns (i didnt get his name but he has a heavy accent and knows tons about the dresses!!).

My dolls sold out but the site says they'll be making more so I've started saving.

Im 27!!! My uncle took me to a club called Apt and I saw that one MTV vj with the locs & DJ Scratch from EPMD (the vj is the bigger black guy, sorry I dont know his name...but imo it counts as a celebrity sighting!!)

HURRAY!!!!

I'm going to NY for my birthday to tour schools and get my hair loc'ed!
Im sooooo relieved cause I really didn't think I was going to be able to go but it's amazing, EVERYTHING fell into place!!
-the tickets were dirt cheap
-I was able to hustle... uh... talk my family into watching mah kiddies
-all the appointments for tours and the beauty shop are available and timed perfectly
I do however, know the source of this wonderfullness.
I bought that "The Secret" dvd that I saw on Oprah (whom I openly worship) and for anyone who hasn't seen or heard about it, the secret is about changing your life through positive thought. So instead of me saying "ah, I dont know if I'll be able to go to NY but I'll try", I state "I will be going to NY and it will be fabulous and wonderful, and safe". And I'll be damned, IT TOTALLY WORKED.
They teach that the trick is to not just say it but KNOW it and FEEL it and I did and now im going! I love you Oprah!

I'll be staying with my mother's familia in Queens 3/4-3/7 so if anyone is in the area let me know and we can do lunch or something!!! *squee*

I look outside and its a freakin winter wonderland!!!! We're gettin on the warmest things we own to go out and play in it!!!!

ok im back.
I'd forgotten how cold snow was.

in our hour or so of snow play:
1. I showed my children how to make a snowball
2. I showed them how to get hit with a snowball
3. we had our first snowball fight
4. we made snow angels
5. we built a lil snowman
6. I watched helplessly as my children brutally murdered the lil snowman
7. I took tons of pics of the event!

We don't even own any wintery type clothes of any kind! So being the AWESOME mother that I am I grabbed some plastic grocery bags and a couple pairs of socks and outfitted my chullren with some makeshift mittens!! Yeah!!

Ahhhh yes.... all is well...

Things that happened today:
-Daughter blew out peanut!!!! Using yoga-esque deep mouth inhale, deep nose exhale got my daughter to blow out the peanut... good thing too cause it looked HORRIBLE and smelled just as bad

-Went to my ma's house to clean out my broken down automobile and discovered that someone ghetto stole my crappy stereo. Im nearly sure it was my mom's drunk hick neighbor, I recently cussed him out for being an asshole to my mentally handicapped brother and for disrespecting my mother's home. It was him or the little boys that live across the street who keep leaving me notes asking if they can buy the car. Whoever it was I hope they really needed it bad enough to go through all that trouble for a $40.00 stereo...

-Watched spirited away again and had a catharsis. I realize happiness isnt in stuff, the obtaining of stuff or the keeping of stuff. It's in the experiences you have surrounding the stuff. The stuff itself really doesnt matter. That really puts life in perspective when you sit and think about it. It's such a simple concept but so many of us forget it and kill ourselves chasing something that was never really what we wanted in the first place. Then we spend our lives hurting ourselves for being failures, or feel cheated and angry when we finally reach some unattainable goal and discover the feelings of nothingness still linger, and in our void of happiness we swell with bitterness. Unhappy in life, unhappy with life. Wandering unguided throughout existence, perhaps drunk, perhaps stealing $40 stereos from broken down beaters.
Its a horrible thing.

Why oh why are kids so damn crazy?

My daughter has had a runny nose for about a week now and her nose was starting to get raw from all my tissue assualts. I decided to apply some carmex to the affected area after giving her a bath on Christmas eve, and while doing so I noticed something whiteish colored in her nostril...
"...what the heck is that?"<--me, talkin to myself in slightly audible whisper
"Oh, it's a peanut" <--my daughter, answering me in a cheerful but-of-course tone

Yes...
My child had half of a half of a peanut stuck waaaaayy up her nose.
I instantly began panicking.
How long has it been in there!?!?!? Why in the world would you do that?!?! and WHY didnt you tell me?!?!?!?

I honestly can't even remember the last time we had peanuts in my house... a month ago maybe?
I called my parents who suggested using a turkey baster to suction it out...
I took her to the emergency room.

The nurses worked on it with everything they had (one even tried using a paperclip to try to loosen it up), but the lil sucker was lodged in there good and the inside of her nose is swollen around it.

As I type my child has a planters chillin in her nostril.

We have an appointment with a specialist on JANUARY 12th!!!!!! wtf
damn HMOs...

POSITIVE THING THAT CAME FROM THIS EXPERIENCE (yes, in all situations there is a silver lining ):
The children's ER family counseling staff gives out kickass gifts to patients on the 24th & 25th... for a 4yr old (and her lucky brother), sticking foreign objects into your nose during the holidays can be very lucrative.

Hurray! I survived finals and schools out!
But only for a week for determined psychos like me-- I'm taking Winter intersession courses.

I also bought my tree! but I just realized that by changing my livingroom colors the tree now clashes...
My old living room was decorated more ethnic/ernest hemingway in Africa (lol) with maroon, gold and brown, so I had a really pretty goldtone decorated tree.
But now my livingroom is more modern cause of the purple (orange is only an accent) colors and abstact art on my walls...
ugh
I'ont really wanna buy more decorations ya'll... any ideas on how to modern up a christmas tree without busting my bank?

Things Ive done recently:

-got a "haircut"... I went to get my hair done and somehow it went horribly awry (damn beauty school rejects) so basically Im bald now... & since fine is only 20% physical and 80% attitude, I'm workin the hell out of it.*snapsnap*
-finished the coat I've been workin on for a couple weeks... & its in the nick of time cause its finally starting to get chilly here in AZ (I'll post a pic of it)
-spent a paycheck stocking up on sewing/tailoring supplies on Black Friday... *sigh* yeah, we'll be eatin Ramen till this friday... but what's a few nights of noodles when you get to buy everything you need for like 70% off (including dress forms)!!!
-put together my zappos.com wishlist ( please santa... dont let me down again this year...)
-started redecorating my apt. New color scheme will be violet, plum, brown and orange.
...
trust me, it'll be cute.
-rode the bus today. My car broke down recently and I've managed to hustle loved ones for transportation. Today I was less fortunate... Ugh...
This man got on the bus and sat next to me. Now Im far from being antisocial but it irked me cause besides me and some guy sittin in the back, the bus was empty.
Why sit next to me?
As he sat down I almost blacked out from his wretched body odor. It was some exotic blend of BO, with undernotes of tobacco and old nachos, and a hint of leather.
WTF
If you know you're gonna ride the bus why not be kind to your fellow passengers and put on some deodorant? GEEZ man. And to make things worse he kept repostioning himself so I'd occasionally get more pungent bursts of funk. I was thinking things like, "can he be convicted of murder if I die from holding my breath?"
I did move like seconds after he sat down but goodness, it felt like I was marinating in his stank for an eternity.

Today I went to a high end shopping plaza near where I live because I'm doing a small presentation on the importance of customer service and knowledgeable sales representation in retail , and wanted to ask a few easy questions to the floor reps to guage their ability and how that might reflect in sales.
WELL
I went to Bebe and Coach and their service was INCREDIBLE. I mean, granted I only asked questions like "Who is your demographic" and "what do you think will be big this season", but the sales staff took me around the store to show me things and threw out fashion catch phrases like, "classy not trashy" and "this is 'in' and that is soooooo 'out'".
Everyone was cheery and helpful and all seemed wonderful...
until I went to Cole Haan...

First off when I went in the store (which I love I must add-- this seasons leather boots are awesome!) it was COMPLETELY unmanned. I thought maybe the rep ran to the back to get something so I made my way to the rear of the shop to wait for someone to emerge from the back.

I waited...
and waited...
and eventually it even crossed my mind that anyone with less noble intentions could have easily walked out with a few rabbit scraves and a cute croc clutch without ANYONE knowing....

yes... I stayed in the store... lol

Later when the rep finally appeared (I had heard a flush so I figured she was takin care of some real business ^.^ ) I introduced myself and explained what I was there for.
Now I EXPLAINED my purpose for being in the stores to every rep I talked with, just to give them a heads up to put their best foot forward-- yes, very generous of me, but after giving me her name she wouldn't answer any of my questions stating the company didn't like it...
"You mean the company doesnt want you to say that the Cole Haan customer is sophisticated and stylish???" (yes, I said that hoping to give her a hand in case she just didn't know what demographic meant) After again denying me info, I politely asked if her supervisor could help me, but she was convieniently tied up on a conference call and couldn't see me. She wouldn't even give me her name so I could call back later to talk to her, stating it was against company policy.
Frustrated, I asked her if she knew ANYONE who could give me some info and she gave me a made up # to a fictious marketing rep (which I later found out after calling Cole Haan corporate).
After all this I was still very friendly and even thanked her and complimented her on her blouse (which was really cute ).
As I was leaving though I felt it would be irresponsible of me not to let her know I had been in the store for some time without any sales presence on the floor and that being in sales I understood what was like to be the only one working the floor with no help but that due to the amount of time she took it woulda been easy for someone to walk out with merchandise.

Yet again, another friendly heads up....
but instead of her saying "Oh no! I didnt realize how long I took! I apologize for makin you wait..." She gets all defensive saying she'd worked in retail for a year and she was in charge of loss prevention (wtf?!?) and that she knows what she's doing. Then she asked me for MY name and who I was affiliated with.
Ho, are you kidding me???

Im so appalled by the customer service I received I called Cole Haan corporate and will be talking to a PR rep there to get my info for the project, then I will be filing a complaint about this rep. it was THAT frigging ridiculous....

The Hell Boy animated movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be...

Hurray!!! Tomorrow is the last day of my microeconomics course!!!

I dislike microeconomics... its like liver-- its good for u if u finish but u gotta choke it down to get through it *bleck*
But its even better cause it's end also means I get mah weekends back!! HALLELUYAH!!!!
...cause its really difficult to finish 101 things when you don't have time to start 1.

Today I completed 3 sketches, each a variation of a skirt I'm making. I swear, when it seems that I have 20 projects going at once I always pick up another... I thrive under pressure i guess... or Im just crazy lol
And its not just sketches, I ACTUALLY do make everything I design... you should see my house. Its like a fabric store exploded in there or something. Pretty frightening lol.

Is anyone else as excited to see "HAPPY FEET" as I am?!?!

While they've had many views there hasn't really been any feedback on them-- positive or negative. Are they not easy to follow/helpful/informative, and everyone's just trying to be nice (...better to say nothing at all..)?

I did it!!! I made two tutorials on how I do my sketches. I plan to do one more about faces, hands and feet and if anyone has any sugestions on how I could improve them please let me know!!

I'm still knitting those sweaters :ugh: and I'm still mad Jeffrey won Project Runway-- Laura was totally robbed... kinda lol. Oh BTW~ congrats to Caesar on his Project Designer victory!

I love to wear knits and I do know how to knit.
HOWEVER
I HATE to hand knit anything big.

My patience always gets the best of me cause it seems to take SOOOO freakin long to get something done that I want right now! So I usually stick to scarves and hats-- little projects that get done fast.
Ive been looking into investing in a knitting machine though and I would LOVE some feed back from anyone who already owns one.

btw~~Im gonna enter the dA Project Designer! Its seems SUPER COOL and I look forward to being a contestant if I get selected *wish me luck!*

When I know hell and well I should be researching the career of fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto for a presentation Im supposed to give today... well today, like 2 hours ago...*tee hee*...
