Yes, honeybees have hair growing out of their eyes, probably so there is more surface area for collecting pollen. I use to think that it offered some protection for their peepers, but a lot of other bee species don't have hairy eyes.

Seems that most people don't understand what a macro photo is. To the topless woman on about page 26: You have every right to punch the photographer for putting a shot of your boobs in the macro section.

I'd like to get a macro lens for my Canon XSi (450D) and was wondering if you could give me some advice. Would the Canon 100mm macro be better for insect photography than the 60mm EF-S?"

Here's my responce: In my humble opinion there is no such thing as a bug lens -it's the insect and your ability to get close that will determin if you get the shot and not the working distance of the lens. Friday morning my laptop wouldn't boot.

I ran diagnostics on it most of the day Saturday -if there's one good thing I can say about a Dell XPS M1330 laptop is that there is a very good set of trouble shooting tools built into the laptop's BIOS. As my luck would have it the hard drive was toast...

Knowing that I really wanted to shoot a hive again my wife talked to a beekeeper in the town where we live and he jumped at the chance to have someone shoot his bees. He teaches kids about bees at the local schools and needed photos for the classes, so we made a trade: I'm giving him prints in exchange for the photo session with his bees. I think I got the better part of the deal :)
