* Christine and Emmy went to TCAF (Toronto Comic Arts Festival) and then went out for drinks with Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time. Emmy is in school for traditional animation so this is a big deal for her, and it took her a full 24 hours for that to sink in.

1) SDCC is incredible and awesome and I will blab about it when I am not exhausted.

2) Some people may have noticed that Diane hasn't done anything with us for over a year, and she seems to have officially quit cosplay for now. We don't know if she'll ever make a comeback, but for now, never fear, we aren't just a duo yet: our good friend Christine is chilling with us now.

It depends on why you cosplay, really. I don't think it's ever WRONG, exactly, because people have different reasons for cosplaying, but I do think it's naive/ignorant/embarrassing at worst.

One of the biggest things with cosplay, to me, is bringing a character to life. Bottom line, I do it to try and convince people that if x character was alive right here and now, this is what they'd look and act like.

Initially, I thought I would end up with about six million different Supergirl costumes, thanks to accidentally ending up with TWO bundles of blue spandex. After a bit of mucking around and some awkward pattern pieces, I've discovered that I don't have enough to do THAT many new Supergirls.

Until I realized I could cut back on fabric by making a standard bodysuit and swapping out the skirts, thanks to the belt that would conveniently hide any seams. This means making one suit and three skirts, instead of three entire dresses, which saves a ton of time and a ton of fabric. Whoo!

We're at the hotel right now. It's the Saturday night of FanExpo and it's been awesome so far. Aside from some blisters (ow ow) and some costume mishaps (Simon's collar going missing, Emmy losing her Batgirl thigh straps in the dealer's room, Wonder Girl being a trainwreck) we are having a ball and we're looking forward to more fun tomorrow.

1. We got introduced to the director of marketing for DC Comics, who, in turn, brought us behind the official DC booth to meet Dan Didio, the EIC of DC Comics. This made my   week. They're such friendly guys!

Lots of work today. Bad Girl got tanked through, so a great deal more of her costume is done. The skirt is a strange bit of construction... I don't think I've ever heard of people making a skirt of flexifirm before. It looks absurd (in the way that Bad Girl can look absurd, that trashy loli-clown hobag!) We are doing a Dangerous Ladies photoshoot on Tuesday or Thursday (or both, if Jenn is lucky). The occasion?
