[RELEASE]
O Dinamo Studio realizará neste sábado, dia 29 de Novembro, á partir das 20 horas, a quarta edição do DIA D. Ela acontecerá no Gibi Bar Bruschetteria, e envolverá diversas atrações:

Uma delas é o lançamento dos Porta-Copos do Gibi Bar, contendo 6 artes inéditas do Dinamo Studio. Os artistas Bob Koya, Daniel HDR, Maurício Dias, Newton Barbosa, Rock Barcelos e Rogério de Souza elaboraram ilustrações que decoram este item selecionável, que será mostrado pela primeira vez no Dia D.

Outra é a entrega da nova edição do Prêmio Oscar C. Kern condecorando os ganhadores do evento de publicações independentes realizado dentro do evento Anima Heroes. Seis artistas independentes e suas publicações receberão sua certificação e prêmios em cerimônia também ocorrida no local.

Tudo isto, além de sorteio de mini-séries, graphic novels de quadrinho e kits de desenho aos presentes no evento.

On the booth, Marco Escada (studio designer) take a few pictures of my work step-by-step in a new Iron Man sketch, after that I finished a Batman illustration. You can see here the pics HERE, and the final result. Of course, the mentioned Batman illustration. Talking about the character, I'm anxious to see the Dark Knight film. Ok, ok... Iron Man was cool, but Batman always rules! It will be awesome, and Nolan makes a amazing work in Batman Begins. Also with the Ledger expected actuation as Joker... Sure that I'll need to make other illustration, as usual - hehe!

And let me thank all the friends, readers and work buddies to the Birthday wishes to me (July 3th). Thanks to all the support and friendship!
And all people who appears in DIA D party, on Gibi Bar!



No ultimo fim de semana, eu e meus colegas de estudio estivemos no stand do Dinamo Studio, dentro do evento Super Anime World.

No stand, Marco Escada (um dos designers do estúdio) tirou algumas fotos registrando o meu trabalho passo-a-passo em um novo sketch do Homem de Ferro, feito após concluir outro, do Batman. Voce pode ver AQUI as fotos. Falando em Batman, estou muito ancioso pelo novo filme, Dark Kinght. Ok, ok... Iron Man foi legal, mas Batman sempre manda! Com certeza vai ser demais, e Nolan fez um espetacular trabalho em Batman Begins. Isto + a aguardadissima atuação de Ledger como Coringa, e teremos um dos melhores filmes basados em HQ do ano! Ja sei que vou ter que fazer mais um sketch depois de ver o filme.

Antes de concluir o post, quero agradecer a todos amigos, leitores, e colegas pela lembrança pelo meu aniversario (em 3 de Julho). Muito obrigado por todo o apoio e amizade!

Oscar C. Kern deixou o mundo em que vivemos neste sábado. Com pesar, sua família comunicou aos amigos e colegas o acontecido, e fui surpreendido com esta notícia, que ainda reverbera entre nós. Nos seus 72 anos de vivência, este velho-jovem-gurí, nascido na cidade de Taquara (interior do Rio Grande do Sul), descobriu os quadrinhos em sua juventude, e estes o mantiveram jovem até hoje. Foi pioneiro, criando o primeiro fanzine de quadrinhos do Sul do país, e que se tornou uma revista, de referência nacional para os fãs da produção independente brasileira de quadrinhos, a saudosa HISTORIETA. Nela, Mike Deodato publicou seus primeiros trabalhos, e tinha-se acesso à obra de Carlos Thiré, um dos primeiros autores de quadrinhos seriados deste país. Isso entre muitos outros colaboradores desta saudosa publicação! Além de entusiasmadas seçães de cartas, preciosidades da arte-seqüencial brasileira, e diversas novidades.

Tive o privilégio de ter Oscar Kern praticamente como meu vizinho. De ídolo à um amigo divertido, sábio em seus conselhos e palavras, e um grande incentivador de meu trabalho, já nos tempos de meu fanzine, Raff!
Em suas páginas, com seus personagens Homem-Justo, e a Brigada das Selvas, tinha-se um autor incansável, que trabalhou com quadrinhos (como roteirista das produções nacionais da Disney), um idealista (participando da criação de associações na defesa dos direitos de artistas gráficos aqui do Brasil) e um fã - não éra difícil encontra-lo em nossas lojas de quadrinhos preferidas e batermos longos papos, isso quando esses papos já não ocorriam quando nos esbarrava-mos nas compras do supermercado, ou nos divertidos jantares da velha guarda das hqs.

Kern agora está lá em cima, com Agostini, Jamys, Colin, Motini, Henfil, Thiré, Hogart, Cortez, Eisner, Kirby, Buscema, Tezuka, Wieringo, Finger, Kane, Siegel, Shuster, Raymond, Foster, Canniff, Hergé, Toth, e tantos outros artistas, fazendo a maior história de todas, ou esperando que a façamos...
Ou que simplesmente façamos o que gostamos, em nossas vidas. Assim como ele o fez!

This Sunday was a sad Sunday.
Me and many friends and coworkers (all of the old guard of the comics here in my state) were present at the farewell to a dear friend and source of inspiration for many new authors here in Brazil. Oscar C. Kern left us this Saturday. With regret, his family announced to friends and colleagues, and I was surprised by this news, which still reverberates among us. In their 72 years of experience, this old-young-boy, found the comics in his youth, and they maintained the couple today. He was a pioneer, creating the first fanzine of comics in the South, and that became a pro comic book (reference for the fans of the independent production of Brazilian comics), the unforgettable HISTORIETA. In Historieta's pages, Mike Deodato published his first works, and the comics fans was access the classic works from Carlos Thiré (one of the first authors of serialized comics this country) and many others! Very cool letters sections, rarities of Brazilian sequential-art Brazilian, and many news.

I had the privilege of having Oscar Kern almost like my neighbor. From idol to a great friend, always fun, in their wise advice and words, and a great incentive for my work, since my fanzine, Raff!
In its pages, with their characters Homem-Justo, and Jungle Brigade, had to be a tireless creator who worked with comics (as scriptwriter of national productions of Disney), an idealistic (participating in the creation of associations in the defense of the rights of graphic artists here in Brazil) and a fan - Easy to find him in our favorites comics stores in long chats, that when these chats no longer occurred when we're occasionally in supermarket, or on the funny comics old guard dinners.

Kern now is on high, with Agostini, Jamys, Colin, Motini, Henfil, Thiré, Hogart, Cortez, Eisner, Kirby, Buscema, Tezuka, Wieringo, Finger, Kane, Siegel, Shuster, Raymond, Foster, Canniff, Hergé, Toth, and so many other artists, making the biggest story ever told, or hoping to do ...
Or that simply do what we like in our lives. As he did!

Fim de semana passado eu concluí Lady Death - Sacrilege #2. Foram dois projetos (Lady Death vs Shi + Sacrilege mini-series) feitos praticamente ao mesmo tempo. Foi uma bom teste de disciplina de produção. E de trabalho de equipe, pois muitos dos colegas do Dinamo Studio, como (fez os backgrounds em Lady Death & Shi), (fizeram arte-final de algumas páginas de LDvsShi + Sacrilege), além do nankim adicional de Giliard Belardo (que tinha profile aqui no Deviant Art, mas sei lá porque saiu). Além de colegas de estúdio, grandes amigos!

Estou atentendo a algumas solicitações de artes comissionadas, e colocando ordem em outras tarefas, até os novos projetos

Obrigado à todos pelos comentários nos posts e no meu website. E pelos s e DaWatchs! Desculpem-me se não estou dando replay logo em seguida.

Lady Death - Sacrilege #1 = terminada, e a revista será lançada no stand da Avatar Press na San Diego Comicon.

Desculpem-me se este upload parece imcompleto, ou se é diferente dos demais. Mas aqui quero registrar meu pesar pela partida, nesta terça-feira, de um grande amigo, grande profissional, com o qual sempre me identifiquei muito, pois acreditava em algo e ia atrás. Joacy do Nascimento Jamys, ou simplesmente JOACY JAMES nos deixou, com apenas 35 anos de idade, vítima de um aneurisma cerebral.

Acho apropriado aqui manifestar o meu pesar, bem como o de todos os colegas quadrinhistas que tiveram o privilégio de conhecer esse tremendo sujeito, que além de talentoso, criativo, irriquieto, éra um amigo de fé. Meu início no mundo dos fanzines aconeteceu, em parte, quando coloquei meus olhos em um exemplar da publicação desse cara, que até então morava em São Luíz (MA). Seu fanzine (chamado LEGENDA) mostrava em sua capa um de seus personagens, o mercenário DRONN. Eu tinha minhas criações na época, e sempre pensando em publicá-las. Eu, um pirralho de 12/13 anos, que, quando viu que aquele cara, do outro lado do país, resolveu divulgar seu trabalho por conta própria, com fotocópias montadas página-a-página,... Bom, aquilo foi motivo suficiente para eu iniciar meu fanzine (chamado RAFF). Não havia internet, celulares, mensagens SMS, tudo na base do correio convencional. Jamys foi um dos meus primeiros leitores, e na troca de correspondências e publicações, além de um autor profissional competente e extremamente criativo, conheci um amigo. Um grande amigo.
Para o público novo leitor de HQs, que visita meu website, e até pro pessoal que pôde conhecer o baita cara legal que foi Jamys, aqui está o site dele:

Hey everyone!
August and September went by with no uploads, due to work and the beginning of a new term – which always creates a bit of a mess. But here comes news. Now, with a short break, I post here some news... Late last month I finished the Lady Death #1 annual (shipping this month). I’m responsible for the art of some Lady Death’s books as well as variant covers for the book and for special one-shots. Below are the covers shown on the Avatar Press website.

More good news regarding my work at Avatar: Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The Grind (script by Brian Pulido, art by me, inks by my buddyes and studio mates Alcione Silva, Roberto ”Bob” Koya, Elvis Moura, and Newton Barbosa) was nominated for the TV SCREAM AWARDS 2006, under BEST SCREEN-TO-COMIC ADAPTATION. The winner was the adaptation of Army Of Darkness, but just being nominated makes me very happy. Check it out and see the award party.

Local news: from October 14 to October 22, the 4th Annual Bookfaire of Niterói/Canoas (a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) will hold many activities related to literature and arts in general. I’ve had the honor of being invited to be the patron of this year’s event. Comics will be promoted as a teaching and entertainment tool in schools here in Brazil, among teachers, and the general public, and I agree wholeheartedly with this proposition!

Thanks for the comments about the wallpapers. A lot of folks liked them, and I promise to make more new stuff available soon here on DA and my website!

Olá pessoal!
Agosto e Setembro passaram sem uploads devido aos trabalhos, e o re-início de semestre, o que gera sempre muita correria. Mas seguem aí as novidades.

Sai agora em junho/julho o novo cd da banda Rosa Tattooada: RENDEZ-VOUZ. Comento isso porque o material gráfico do álbum tem ilustrações minhas, com cores da amiga e colega de estúdio Úrsula Dorada (Sulamoon) [link] . Veja a imagem toda na galeria! E vê se consegue o cd, né?
O site oficial da banda [link] também está com o design baseado nas ilustrações.

Outra das novidades explica o porquê do tempo curto para responder aos posts no DA, É que renovei o contrato com a editora Avatar Press por mas 3 anos ! Saíram algumas notas relativas a noticia nos websites Bigorna.net [link] , HQ Maniacs [link] e Omelete [link] . Espero que compreendam que os intervalos entre um novo post e outro serão maiores, mas sempre que possivel, quero colocar material aqui, e trocar uma ideia com o pessoal.

Além disso, em julho próximo estarei no ANIMECON 2006 [link] . Um dos mais tradicionais eventos de anime e manga do país, estarei lá como convidado no ministrando aulas e trocando uma idéia com o pessoal que prestigiar o evento. Será ótimo rever os amigos! Os mano-véio-de-guerra do ETHORA [link] vão estar lançando o Ethora Especial 2006 (onde todos nós colegas e amigos dos batalhadores Erica Horita, Beth Kodama e Elton Azuma participam com uma página por HQ, tudo na diversão, na curtição e na amizade)! Estaremos lá, confraternizando!

In a rush, but carrying good news.
Brazillian band Rosa Tattooada’s new album, RENDE-VOUZ, is out in June or July. I’m saying this because I have some illustrations in the album’s graphic material, with coloring from my friend and studio colleague Úrsula Dorada (Sulamoon) [link] . See the whole image on gallery! And find a way to buy the CD, ok?

One of my news explain the short time to my posts on DA. I’ve renewed my contract with Avatar Press for three more years ! See more about too on releases published on Bigorna.net [link] , HQ Maniacs [link] and Omelete [link] websites (only in Portuguese – sorry).
I hope for the friends' understanding. The intervals between a new post and another will be larger, but whenever possible, I want to post most arts here, on my website and talk with the co-workers and DAfriends.

Besides that, I’ll be at ANIMECON 2006 (on Brazil) next July. This is one of my country’s most traditional anime and manga events, and I’ll be there as a guest, teaching and chatting with whoever goes to the event. It’ll be great to meet old friends! My homies from ETHORA [link] will be there for the release of Ethora Especial 2006 (in which all of us, colleagues and friends of the hard-working Erica Horita, Beth Kodama and Elton Azuma contribute with one page per story, all for fun, good times and friendship)! We will be there, partying!

Devido ao volume de trabalho, eu inicialmente não poderei estar respondendo à todas as questões e posts que aparecerem aqui. Por favor, não se trata de indiferença de minha parte, longe disso. Muitos amigos e colegas me comentaram da eficiência do Deviant Art em divulgar seu trabalho. Como já possuo desde 2000 meu prórpio website, que tem se mantido desde então (já à duras penas, mas ta firme e forte), estarei colocando aqui material da galeria e eventualmente alguns trabalhos desenvolvidos exclusivamente para serem mostrados aqui.
Espero que compreendam, estou iniciando meu aprendizado no uso do serviço.
Se eu vier à errar links, comandos de formatação de texto, uso de outros recursos, etc...
