The Canon 20mm finally arrived. Ohh man, this thing is amazing. Amazing.



First off, its just plain wide. It's awesome for shots in a cramped area. Next is the optics. What more can I say besides that it's a Canon lens?

The USM is outstanding. It's by far the fastest and quietest AF lens I have. My lastest... eh, 3 photos, I think, are examples of the quality of this lens.



With the first and last example, the quickness of the aperture really helped. With a ISO of 800, I can get night photos at around 1/30 to 1/125 of a second That's without a flash.

In short, I really recommend a Canon lens if you're in the market. I really like this lens, even to the extent that the Canon 50mm is now on my list.

Thanks to =trailstar for persuading me to go with a fixed lens. They're just better quality, because the glass can be effectively tuned to a specific focal length. Can't wait to try this out with some Velvia or Neopan later on next weekend.

Well, the yahoo group is kinda dead, so I ported it onto my own server. Actually, let me rephrase that. I *will* port it onto a server, but I need to build it first. Right now, its on my laptop. Meaning, it will go down every once in a while.

Anyway, as of this minute, there's not much a user can do besides post news articles and stuff. But, if you're interested, go ahead and join. I'll give you posting permissions or whatever its called. I have to figure out to use Joomla a little better.

I'm working on setting up forums, I just need to find out how to get those set up

So I took the 12-24 and the 17-35 back, now I'm waiting on a Canon 20mm, which still hasn't arrived. After over a week. Ugh, I'm starting to believe that their "special orders" actually consist of ebaying the damn thing, using it for a while to test, then deciding to mail it to me. Probably after lunch; no need to hurry these things.

After finally going downtown and taking some more shots, I'm finally back into photography.

Although, due to horrid planning/not thinking, their posting here will be very delayed. I either need ot scrape up 250 to get a negative/slide scanner or find someone who has one. I'm not getting prints, then having someone else scan them. Too much trouble there.

Does anyone who lives near me have a negative scanner?

The photos are awesome though, I promise. There's 19 that came out amazingly well - 19/36 is probably my record. Usually its somewhere down below 3 I really suggest getting Velvia 100f film; I used it when I went shooting. Aparently, the type is best suited for scenic photography ( ~SirJimlove, you might want to check it out), but I was using it for urban. I am told Elitechrome or Provia400 is better by the #photo people.

My neighbors are gone for 2 weeks on a trip up to Portland. As I have for the past 6 years, again I'm watching over the cats and plants to make sure each have food, water, blah. Taking the mail and newspapers in too.

I naturally say I have keys to the house, because I made copies (for free I might add, working in a hardware store helps) of the keys given to me 6 years ago. Stupidly, I completely forgot that they had done renovations and added an addition to the house. Oddly enough, the only wall they knocked down was the one that had a very important door. Important meaning it was the only one to which I have keys

Fuck.

But I have someone who has the keys *hopefully* coming out to give me the correct ones. There's not much to do at 12:15 am, so I might as well make a journal entry. I'm going to be gone for the next two weeks. I'm taking a vacation to New Jersey, Mass., South Carolina.... and pretty much everywhere on the east coast to think of it.

I'm not sure if this is a good aspect of the trip, but it's going to be one of those you just play by ear. Once we get to SC, we're going to stay for a while, then pick where to go next, and how long, etc. I'm hoping that will be a cool part of the trip, however I can see that ending up horrible due to hotel reservations and nonvacancies. Ah hell, I'll worry about that when I get there.

Tons of pics are on the way, I'll definately find out more about my new 300D camera. I just blew my financial wad of cash on it, so no worthless souvineers. I might not take as many as I'd like to, cause according to my parents - I need highway/interstate/not-knowing-where-the-hell-I-am experience. Roughly translated, I'm going to be their driver for most of the trip. Ugh. And no, we're not flying.

I'm bringing the ole' lappy, so I'll be online, no idea as to how much though, probably very seldom. Finally bought one, it's all black and shiny, just like has. The best part is, I was able to bring it down from 700 bucks to 600, but with the memory card and some other stuff I still managed to get that price up there (I'm horrible with money if you haven't noticed).

Anyway, this thing is so awesome. I'll get some pics up here eventually. 6.3 megapixels of godness. 7 point AutoFocus. 2.5 frames a second. WOO.

I have a feeling this page is going to get more and more active, so I might as well make it look good. One thing, chances are really likely that if the file doesn't work, it's just cause either my laptop is closed or it's at school or another friend's house.
