Haven't had a good night's sleep in ages.

I'm steadily getting close to the unveiling of my secret project...and I'm scared. Its a long-running project that I'm afraid will end up like the ones before it...forgotten and left behind.

I was hoping this incredibly overwhelmed sensation would pass the closer I get the end of semester but its just getting worse. I realized recently (I don't pay attention very much so these things spring up on me) that Fall semester begins 11 days after the end of Summer semester. I was really looking forward to a few weeks of just...crashing...after the hectic insanity of the last 6 weeks.

Starting to feel really burnt out.

He always did have a knack for that.

At the same time, the irresistible burning of inspiration cannot be ignored for long before it literally burns a hole through your brain. I've been drawing, and photographing and crafting like no one's business lately. A lot of it is personal, a way of dealing with my grief, but I do plan to share some with you all.

Schoolwork has been piling up. I've had to put a lot of things on hold for the funeral and now its come back in a the form of a very vengeful landslide. (or is that a workslide?)

If anyone needs me, I'll be under this pile of work over here.

I've been a bit of a busy bee. Got back into photography, painting again, working on concept art for a new webcomic...

On the other hand, I've been painting a lot more. Silly things mostly. Cows and giraffe's and penguins serving tea. The sort of things that pop in my dreams these days.

I've also picked up my camera again after gathering dust for about 2 years now. The familiar rush of excitement, the sudden scrutinizing awareness of my surroundings, seeing every little curve and shadow as a possible image. Yet, there is always that emotional tug. That something or other that nags at the back of my mind, preventing me from really letting loose.

It's still there.

After all this time.

I can't put my finger on it.

Or rather, I'm afraid to face it.

My subconscious may have a clue, though. I think there's a bit of a rumbling rebellion. The natives are restless.

I find myself setting up photoshoots on a whim. Agreeing to meet local bands without really thinking about it.

Or maybe I choose not to think about it.

Whenever I'm actually at the shoot, I feel as if I'm walking through a daze - detached, emotionless, my mind a blank slate. My hands go through the motions while some buried memory works the dials.

In the end, I return home and pop my memory card into the machine. I edit the pictures and...I am pleasantly surprised.

What's going on?

I think my mind may be up to something.

In 2 days, my internet connection will be cut off and it will be another two weeks before I can get back on.

It's crazy. I didn't realize how much I'd taken my craft area for granted till the day after I packed it all up. I woke up and went about my usual routine of pre-heating the toaster oven, turning on the room heater beside my clay bin and roller, warming up the light box....only to realize it was all boxed up and inaccessible.

Well, in any case, this is me saying goodbye for a little while! Have a great Holiday.

Acrylics are the current favorite. I love the ease of the paint and the bold pigments.

I also have this intense curiosity of what goes on behind closed doors. What thoughts float past the family huddled in front of a tv? What banter traipses across the dinner table? Do the prim couple down the street make love at night? What hopes do the children have?

I yearn to know. Whenever I pass by windows, I languish in the sneak peek at anothers' life. Yet these glimpses bring about many more questions.

Is the quilt above the couch an heirloom? Do the owners like it or do they keep it because they feel they have to?

When I look into their windows, do they look out at me and wonder? What do they ask?

Did they enjoy their lives? Did they reach their dreams or abandon them for new ones?

Thus, I embark on my latest project. The Windows. A series featuring windows, looking out and in. Possibly answers. Most likely more questions.

We'll see.

First off, I am scandalously ill. Scandalous mainly because I have been unable to lift a finger to work on custom orders, am barely able to raise my head up to type and may have lost my day job!

I am indeed the type of person to stagnate for a long time then make sudden changes in the pond.

I've set a less-than-tentative date to move to Long Beach, have begun the transfer process to my new college and am dealing with the heartbreak of leaving the Mr. behind in this town until he is ready to move with me.

In the meantime, isn't this the most wonderful tea pixie in the world? I would give anything to have an iota of the peace evident on his face.

With a new lead, I slinked and crawled over to his room, carefully avoiding a possibly dangerous encounter with a tiger.

Thankfully said tiger was a Jack Sparrow fan and had eyes painted on his sleeping lids after his hero. (Unlike Sparrow, though, anyone planning on eating this tiger will come to a horrible end.)

It took quite a bit of digging through old clothes and messy closets but I soon found gold.

I was humming busily around Barnes & Nobles' bargain bin again and I found Letters to a Young Artist by Julia Cameron for a steal. There's this one letter where she describes the Artist's "fashionable black cat" and how he believes black is "the creative artist's clothing expression".

(Translation:: If I dress like a troubled yet enamoringly sensitive artiste I'll be seen as more creative. Also all the girls will want me.)

This was incredibly amusing to me since Mr. Dea dresses mostly in black and also has a very sleek and fashionable black cat.

On a tangent: Said black cat, Leela, is named after Louise Jameson of Doctor Who fame. One of Leela's passions is going up very close and blocking the tv whenever Doctor Who is on.

Tangent #2: Although the new Doctor Whos with David Tenant is midly amusing, the very best and only Doctor worth watching (in my not-so-humble opinion) is Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor.

Anywho, back to the original thought: My wonderful hubby, though exhibiting great creativity in such areas as culinary skill (A fettucini, onions, garlic and ham omelette in vodka sauce anyone? anyone?) experiences a draught when it comes to writing. Most of it really is that he *needs* his special black notebook with his special black pen that writes in black ink. He *needs* to be in the writing mood....which of course means he has to be dressed in his favorite outfits. (black pants, shirt, trenchcoat and....yep, black hat.) He gets so worked up over needing to look and act like a writer that he never really gets to the writing.

I understand that creative inspiration and general physical comfort (be it with clothing or a cushy armchair) is a necessity but isn't thinking and creating like an artist really what its all about? What's the use of that $500 painting kit with the 50 sable brushes, 3-style aluminum pallete, adjsutable easel and every color paint imaginable.....if you're so obsessed with it that you can't paint?

Moving apartments has been incredibly hectic and for the time being I am stuck at my parents' hosue for a week while my claythings are packed away in storage.

Oh Woe is Me! *sniff*

I miss the luxury of having all my tools and works-in-progress sprawled over my studio table just waiting for me to pick them up; knowing they'd be there counting the minutes till I jump up from bed in the middle of the night, inspired and raring to get my hands on some clay. (Was that a huge run-on?)

In the meantime I'm perusing Getting Started Stringing Beads by Jean Campbell and getting rather intrigued by wire-wrapping. As soon as I can take a break and make a quick stop at Michael's i'm definitely picking up some craft wire.

So, my bf's sister gave me an old beading kit she never used and I jumped right on the chance. I've been wanting to try beading for a while now but didn't have the moneys to get even the basic strings and beads. (I am the Poor!

Anywho, so its not as simple as it seems. I was able use scrap mokume gane bead for a focal and put together a simple bracelet. I was quite delighted with this success and tried for somethign much more elaborate.

Then I realized I didn't know how to knot. Well, I did....but the little string that came in the kit was so thin and slippery it kept coming undone. Even when I had a nice little knot in place, everything except the ittiest bittiest bead would come cascading all over my legs.

I finally gave up after a good hour of this and tried to search simple tutorials online. Most of the ones I pulled up didn't have pictures (bad! Very visual, am I) but I'm way too tired to keep at it.

Better luck next time, I suppose.

Well, It's been quite a productive week. I've finally bit the bullet and made a polymer clay-centric blog (( [link] )) for my musings and experiments. Not very many look at it, but that's ok by me. I use it to store links to inspirational bloggers and PC related sites; and mostly as a PC diary so I can judge my skill-growth. As much as I love DA, I'd love to post my other work somewhere without alienating my AC watchers.

In other news, I finally (!!!) have an Etsy account! Go figure. No shop or any such thing yet, simply browsing the forums delight me. The people are so nice there!

The rent/leasing fees are killing me! I'm being expected to pay almost $200 extra simply because they refuse to end my lease until the end of the month. And on top of that they expect me out of here 2 weeks before the termination date. GRRR!

I wouldn't mind so much except that the deposit expected by the new apartment is outrageous! The rent will be lower than anywhere else I could find, but a deposit equal to 3 months' rent? COME ON PEOPLE!!!! If I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't be renting in the first place.

Le sigh.

I hate moving apartments.

Getting back into the school groove is no easy feat, especially when there's an angry goose in your way that has decided you've fatally insulted it by your presence and it must now execute the death penalty on your toe -- or groin, if you happen to be short enough.

Now, we're not talking cute fluffy ducks here; they're a dusty brown with black rings around their eyes and a menacing grin. They squawk terribly and stretch out their necks for all they're worth while flapping their wings towards you.

Its interesting to note that during the first weeks of school, the cement paths are so crowded by textbook-lugging just-out-of-highschool college types that the geese stay predominantly smack dab in the middle of the lake.

These mobs very quickly thin out to dozens of intellectual types in plaid undershirts and thick black glasses. They start out rapt with attention in their classes, are disillusioned by the 2nd week and become dropped out struggling writers of their era.

Then one by one the punkers decide its much cooler hanging out in the local pool hall, the jocks are relegated to the gym or field, the artistes gather in dimly lit cafes with open mike nights and the grassy pits are occupied by smokers and druggies.

All too soon the geese migrate closer to the edge of the lake and eventually onto the cement paths. You rush to class one day and suddenly stop and realize that the geese now outnumber the students.

You realize you no longer have to rush to class and get the best seat because the numbers have dwindled down to a lousy 15 or 20 students. Its no longer a strain to hear the professor over a humdrum of noise, and you start picking out faces you'll see over again for 4 years.

That's when you know the semester has started.

I know its pointless now, but I want to say I miss you.

I should have called you more instead of wondering why you never call me. I should have messaged you more instead of checking your myspace and sulking because you haven't sent me a comment in a while.

I should have asked you how you were doing. I should have been there to guide you and give you advice as you took over after me.

Man, you were something else. You had this energy around you no one could stop.

Man, I miss you. I never took the time to actually try to be your friend but we sure clicked. Those goddamn nights over orange chicken and breakfast burritos at the college, going over corrections over and over again, and freaking yelling at Dan___. The night you took me home and I almost got us arrested. Hah, those were fun.

I know you depended on me and I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. I know it put a whole lot of stress on you. I'm sorry.

When it comes down to it, that's all I can say. I'm sorry.

So my birthday was smashingly yummy. I got to do all my favorite things -- go shopping with great friends, get all dressed up in a pretty blue dress, went to a fancy shmancy sushi restaurant and went swimming all night.

The only downside to being 20 is that I can no longer just shrug my shoulders and say flippantly "Oh well, I can't help it, I'm just a teenager!"

I am quite pleased to announced that I have spiffy artists' hands! My hands are slathered with dried crackled paint in rainbows of colors, there's clay under my nails and glitter all up the wazoo! I've always wanted them but my mother constantly made me wash up and please, dear, clean up my mess. Now in the loverly new apartment I've got a little table set up in a little corner by a little window that's mine all mine.

Its covered in half-finished clay sculptures, dried up paint palettes, WIP paintings...and no one, no one, makes me clean up. EVER!

The boyfriend does make quite the grimace when he accidentally steps on a wet paintbrush, but he does leave me quite alone.

In the meantime, phone service needs to be set up at the apartment so I can move the computer and the internets over. I miss it awfully, especially dA.

Like an STD you never thought could happen to you, a certain Ex came by at work today. It was completely coincidental to be sure as he had a shocked expression that mirrored mine, but it still stung. I was forced to be courteous, seeing as how I was at work, but I turned into a quivering mass of jelly for the rest of the night. Thankfully my shift was almost over.
Its hard to explain why his presence had such a profound effect on me as it was mostly very emotional. We hadn't known each other very long, 3-4 months at most, but I quickly became very attached. I developed an unhealthy near-obsession, a single-minded goal that led me through depths of depression and honestly, just plain pathetic desperation.
Through it all he remained aloof and held a subtle contempt for my efforts, yet denied me the dignity of a simple "No, I'm not interested."
It finally ended when I confronted him about something he admitted readily -- that he only "put up with" my presence because he felt "really sorry" for me.
I'd sought to forget him, pulling sleeves over the wounds, pretending they've healed. Seeing him today brought the pain back, sharper than any memory could, and I see now that I still hurt.

For the sake of my sanity, I'll go back to pretending.

Ok, emo-time over. In other news, on the way home from work tonight, I saw this black cat sitting under an awning, its green eyes shining in the darkness. It was pretty cool.

I've found my favorite sketchbook and am back on track with the OMG, Cow! comic. Hopefully I'll be able to put those up soon.

In other news, I turn 20 in 60 days. I've decided my tattoo will be a rainbow with a rat's face on the end. My special tribute for Moorat, Cream, Godiva, T and yes, even Posh. I'm pondering having their names too, but that's may make it too big and unfair for if I get more pets.

I miss my old friends. Once in a while I'll run across a blog or a someone's myspace/friendster/xanga/livejournal/deviantart and it make me cry/smile. It's great knowing their lives are going great but its also kinda sad because its like I never even crossed their paths.

20 years and nothing to show for it. The only real friends I have are two guys who I barely talk to online, I've practically dropped out of college and I'm working a minimum-wage dead-end job. I'm too scared to pick my camera up again and I suck at digital art. I don't know where I'm going and even if I did I wouldn't have the energy to go there.

I'm going to go curl up in a ball and cry now. /emo
