This was a tag by from way back in July 2006. I've felt guilty ever since as she translated it for my benefit. I won't be passing it on.

1 ~ Piano Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight" - Beethoven
The first movement is the only proper piano piece I can play from memory. It's useful for pretending you can play the piano. The other two I was trying to learn, but they're really great pieces.

2 ~ Ride on Shooting Star - The Pillows
I think =scales would appreciate this one. One of the greatest ending themes for any anime ever. Featured in FLCL, otherwise know as フリクリ. Brings back memories of J-Soc back at school (highschool).

3 ~ Slam - Pendulum
All that's great about drum and bass. Make a nice change at the rock and metal club by my uni, as you can actually dance to this.

4 ~ I Wish - Infected Mushroom
This one reminds me of the Infected Mushroom gigs I've been to. All their music is great, but this is the piece they play towards the end. Slightly melancholic, but uplifting at the same time.

5 ~ Flutter - Bonobo
One of Bonobo's catchiest tunes. I saw him and his band live while at uni. A great small indie band.

6 ~ Amsterdam - Guster
I think a Guster gig was the first gig I ever went to. Good memories of a simpler time.

7 ~ Utopia - Goldfrapp
Moving, for me. Perhaps I identify with the lyrics

8 ~ Du Hast - Rammstein
Possibly the song that got me into Rammstein and related Industrial sounds.

9 ~ Just Let Go - Pepé Deluxe
Really hard choosing just one song from these guys. Everything they've done is brilliant and pretty unique each time. Go check them out! [link]

10 ~ Not Gonna Get Us - t.A.T.u
Guilty music secret #1. I actually quite like their first album. I appreciate the feeling they created.

Overall, I think I did ok in my exams, even though I screwed up maths a little. Ooh, and I managed to get 73% on a report for my Modelling and Computing module where the average seemed to be 50%.

I was actually working on coursework a fair bit of the weekend, and when I wasn't working I was feeling a bit down. Probably just being back at uni and readjusting to that. Anyway, I've got fencing tonight which usually helps my mood. Either that, or it'll kill me.

In more general art news, I ran off to Japan for 2.5 weeks over Easter. I managed to take....over 2,600 photos! Some of them have been going up, as you may have noticed. I took some really good people shots this time. Mainly in Harajuku and Yoyogi-koen. Watch this space...well the one over to the left if you're on my front page.

Sorry everyone for being absent for so long. Uni seems to be keeping me pretty busy. I have one week left until Easter holidays, and I have at least 4 bits of coursework to do for this coming week!

In more arty type news, I got a telephoto lens for my Nikon D50: the Nikkor 70-300mm 4-5.6G. It's so much fun to use and it zooms in so far that I can actually use it as a telescope. I have lots of photos made with that lens as well as the basic kit lens.

Right, I'm off shooting now (targets not people), but I will return much sooner than before.

In D50 news, I've bought a ML-L3 for remote shutter release. The main reason I got this was so I can do up to 30 min exposures of stars. Haven't got any good shots to show yet.

I also bought a SanDisck Extreme II 2GB SD card. It now means I can take over 2,000 photos without stopping!!!! For comparision, I took over 7,000 in my whole 7 months and 1 week in Japan.

For Christmas I'm getting my mum to buy me a Hoya R72 filter. For those that don't know, this is a filter that only passes infra-red light (above 720nm) so I can take photos in near infra-red. Watch this space.

I'm now doing a ridiculous amount of exercise:

Monday & Thursday - 2 hours of fencing
Tuesday - 2 hours of Aikido
Friday - 1.5 hours of Aikido
Saturday & Sunday - however much swimming I feel like, but at least 1 hour
Odd days - Shooting - not proper excercise, but it does require concentration on what your body is doing
Every day - 15 min uphill walk to campus (I walk fast, it's over a mile), and then back again, unless I treat myself to a bus. Also I'm often doing the trip twice in one day.

Grand total of around 14 hours a week. Is that enough?

Oh dear, a fire alarm's just gone off in a neighboring block - who burnt their dinner? Hmm, I can smell something like burnt toast out the window. Hope it's not an actual fire.

The anime society had a cosplay night yesterday - I tagged along for the anime movies, and to take photos of the people in funny costumes. There were some pretty good ones. The best I thought was No Face (カオナシ Kaonashi) from Spirited Away. Also had one cross-play and a lot of weapons.

The smell of gunpowder carries wonderfully on the cold winter air.

I took my camera for a walk earlier to do a bit of exploring. I found some hidden gardens that belong to the university, a nice mossy churchyard, a WWII pill box and what I think was a rat. Photographic proof of those things to follow.

Time for a new journal entry methinks.

For the majority of you who don't know this - I'm at uni now! I'm doing Aeronautics & Astronautics at the University of Southampton. (That roughly translates as aeroplane design & rocket science)

I've been here just over a fortnight, and I'm almost settled in. My lectures are now getting into full swing. I have recently had the delights of Materials for Engineering, Thermodynamics and Mechanics of Solids....oh, and Maths. (only subject that I've already had 2 tests in >__< )

I've also started shooting, fencing and Aikido. More exercise than I've done for a good couple of months. My legs ache.

Only a couple of nights ago, I found out completely by accident that if you hold down Shift while changing from "pixels" to "percent" in the resize image dialogue box, that it will just change for one dimension and not both! How am I meant to find that out easily?

I've been getting an amazing amount of comments, fav's and plain views on some of my recent photos! Mainly all on Endless Posing, which is now my most faved, commented and viewed deviation ever!! So thanks for all the support.

If there's anything Japanese you'd like to see more of (or just see) in my gallery, feel free to ask. It might even give me something interesting to find and hunt down for you.

I was recently wondering how many pictures I take for each one I put up here.
...and the numbers are in. For the 20 pictures I've put up so far from Japan, I took over 750 photos! So that means it took at least the equivalent of a 36 roll of film before I got to each picture you see up in my recent gallery. Thank the gods I'm using digital!

- Takes some photos with very interesting effects
- A half decent photographer, in the Tokyo area. Does Aikido at a dojo worryingly close to mine.
- Does very good pencil linearts and colours them quite well. A range of styles.
- Quite a Japanese fashion fan. Also has some pretty graveyard pics.

I'm here for about 8 months (until around July) mostly teaching English in a school called Jiyu Gakuen. I'll also being doing some travelling round Japan in the holidays and after my last term at the school.

The school is in Tokyo, and I live with a host family a few stops down the Ikebukuro-Seibu line at Nerima-Takanodai.

I'll be posting some pics soon. Have some great ones from the day it snowed here.

Hopefully will be more active here now that the internet at my host family is working.

The reason for this is that I've managed to get a job and that's kinda cut down my playing around on the computer time. I play a few games in the evening now to unwind from work (in a health food shop for those that are interested).

- A great artist who I've been watching for ages. She makes your comments feel appreciated, which is rare in such busy artists.

- Submits far too much for my sanity, hehe Some very good work, but maybe could do with being more selctive in her submitting. *phew*

I got my final school exam results a few days ago

I got AAC in Maths, Phys and Chem (score on chem!)

Some of you will be interested to know that I've pretty much sorted my Gap Year, in which I will be spending 6 months in Japan teaching English in a Tokyo school. Jan' '06 to June.

Exams coming up of course. I've got an offer for Southampton uni (AAB) so that's a good incentive to work hard. I must also spend less time on the computer, grrrr. That can be quite hard as I'm now using my über-cool computer, which I built myslef. [3.2GHz P4 with HT, 512MB DDR2 RAM, Asus ATi X800 Graphics card]

rest of life is so-so, up and down all the time.

Took a 64MB card's worth of pictures - mainly cliffs and water and plants - I'll put some up soon. Though I also want to put drawings up once I've done them. Ooh, I bought some manga reference books there as well. Very useful.

Got sunburnt when I went riding on thesecond day there. Silly me.

Had so much good food. The sushi I had was 10 times better than here in London. Hmm...now I need to get my fitness up once I'm back at school on Monday.

Crappy thing is there's two maths papers on that particular Monday, and they're part of my actual final exam. buggrit! and then there's the ongoing Uni applicatoins, *sigh*

It's a Nikon Coolpix 3200 with 3.2 Mpix, 3x optical zoom, and most importantly, it's small so I can carry it practically everywhere.

And now it's only a 2+1/2 weeks till the end of term, yay, then I'm off on RAF summer camp for a week of flying and shooting and things.

Today I was teaching 4th year (dont worry if that dont make sense to all you foreigners ) RAF cadets how to use rifles.
They were atrocious. One couldn't put the rifle back together and I had to fiddle with it to sort it out as he had jammed the bolt carrier into the reciever. Most of them won't remember what we taught them by next week. Oh well...

got a driving lesson and a violin lesson tomorrow, yay
