If you have something DENIED, check to see if it has one of these things:
1. No shading or coloring or detail.
2. Not a full skeleton. Bones and skulls are not FULL skeletons.
3. Photographs of Museums. Everything photographed must be of your design/work.
4. Far too cartoony. Exaggerated looks like ":D" will not be accepted.
5. Unrealistic surroundings. Humans should not in any way be in the deviation.

Since January, I've been trying to organize a contest in which members create the group's new avatar. Alas, I've procrastinated it. Well, I think it's about time to get it rolling! I remember that the last time I wrote about this, I asked for prize donations. Since we have grown considerably since January, and since DeviantArt has released the llama badge and point systems, I will ask again for prize donations.

I used to like my idea, and I've uploaded a few deviations that reconstructed Triceratops using a "Torosaurus" head, but having given more thought, I am now skeptical. Here are a couple of problems I have with it:

The majority of Gigantoraptor reconstructions give the dinosaur a feathery coat like a bird's. The problem with this is that unlike most other oviraptorosaurs, which were small to medium-sized animals, Gigantoraptor was big, as in 26 ft long and 2.2 tons heavy.

Jurassic Park was packed with pseudo-science, but one of its fictions may have accidentally anticipated a dinosaur discovery announced today—venomous raptors.

Though a far cry from the movie's venom-spitting Dilophosaurus, the 125-million-year-old Sinornithosaurus may have attacked like today's rear-fanged snakes, a new study suggests.

Rear-fanged snakes don't inject venom. Instead, the toxin flows down a telltale groove in a fang's surface and into the bite wound, inducing a state of shock.

I am very pleased to see that DeviantDinosaurs is starting to thrive! It wouldn't be possible without artists devoted to the study of these amazing animals.

What is also helping it is the decision to combine the two dinosaur groups, :devdeviantdinosaurs: and :devdinosaurs-fanclub: into one, large, paleontology obsessed group!
