It's simply the fact that we've become a clone, a duplicate, of *designerscouch. With most of our submissions also being put up at *designerscouch, we have essentially nothing to offer above and beyond what they can offer.

We hate to see this community die so quickly but there is no other option. As *Solaris07 said:

"I hope *deviousdesigners will be remembered for 1 thing:

Quality: In service and the work that was showcased. We alwalys tried to process submissions ASAP and tried to maintain a standard of quality."

So, we leave you with that and we encourage those of you there are not members of *designerscouch already to check it out. It is an excellent community with a great administrative team. You'll have no regrets submitting your work there.

Featured Deviation Monthly Contests

Masked Marvel and I have decided to start a monthly design contest. Each month we will choose a different design category and will accept all designs for the contest from the particular category of the month. We will put the top 5 or 10 designs, depend on how many are entered, into a poll to be voted on. Based on the results, we will put the winning design up on the Featured Deviation section.
When submitting contest entries please title them, "Contest"

Our first category will be: Web Interfaces

The starting date is today.

Contest deadline will be July 31st.

Polls will be open for a week and after they close we will post up the winning deviation in the featured deviation section.

I'd also like to ask that when you guys are submitting deviations, please make sure they are in .PNG or .JPG form, it makes it so much easier to update that way.

Ripping

We thought this one was one of those "unspoken" rules that were a constant in the art community, and even moreso in the design community specifically. Let us be clear:

RIPPING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

In any form. Taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own is not allowed and will result in an immediate and permanent expulsion from Devious Designers. We of course will do an investigation to determine the original author but at it's completion, you will be removed from Devious Designers if found guilty of ripping.

The reason that this has been brought up is because of an incident this weekend. We really do not want to have to repeat this again. To anyone. It's an unspoken rule for a reason. You just don't rip, plain and simple.

It's June 2nd, that means its time we post up all the submission for out first contest here at Devious Designers. Even though our deadline for the contest is June 2nd, we'd be inclined to look the other way if entries came in during June 2nd... it's a long day after all. We've got four entries in so far but the more the merrier! And we've had some questions about text and the only text that is required is "Devious Designers" in some form (deviousdesigners, DEVIOUSDESIGNERS, etc etc, space or no space). Other text such as "Member" or "Supporter" isn't required but if you put it in that's fine.

Well, we officially hit 1000 pageviews a hundred times faster than I (=MaskedMarvel) did. It's now time to celebrate... by making a stamp for *deviousdesigners!

You officially have 6-ish hours until June 2nd but we'd be inclined to look the other way if entries came in during June 2nd... it's a long day after all. Welcome to Devious Designers

We want to welcome all of the new members. Since the begining of May when this group started out, the number of members have been growing and the pageviews have sky rocked for only being up for about 20 days! We also want to thank all the vistors that have stopped by to check out the work that has been showcased here. We also want to point out ~Akakaze, they are our first affiliate. They really have some talented members. Well worth your time to go and check them out.

Contest
We have decided we need a stamp for our group, yet we want something that would invovle all of our members so we have decided to hold our first contest.

The contest will be to create the official stamp for Devious Designers.

What types of design can I submit?

Types of designs accepted to Devious Designers include:

Advertising: Advertising designs such as news paper style advertisments, billboards, web ad banners, etc.

Application Interfaces: Application interface finished designs.

Buttons: Buttons for webpages and various other applications.

CD Covers: CD covers for music, data, and various other applications that would fit in a standard CD jewel case.

Corporate: Corporate designs such as letterheads, business cards, informational flyers, promotional flyers, and promotional material.

DVD covers: DVD covers for data, and various other applications that would fit in a standard DVD case.

Fashion: Fashion design materials (including t-shirt designs).

Flash Interfaces: Finished web designs done in Flash and in .swf format.

Literature Layouts: Layouts for different forms of literature, may they be magazines, books, pamphlets, or anything else that can be considered literature.

Logo design: Designs which are intended to be representative of a company or an individual. Logo designs are usually simple in construction, and are bold enough to maintain legibility even at small sizes. A logotype is a logo which is based primarily on type as opposed to a symbol.

Packaging designs: Designs made for containers or other items which hold objects.

Signage: Informative signs and notices, i.e. restoom signs, no smoking signs, informative signs.

Tattoo Design: Original tattoo designs and tattoos inked by the deviant on paper or drawn on a computer.

Vehicular Graphics: Graphics meant for cars, trucks, skateboards, snowboards, space shuttles, race cars, or any other form of transportation.

Web interfaces: Finished web interfaces.

Only submissions in deviantART's Design and Interface section, meaning it would have this icon

by it will be looked at for acceptance (excluding Flash interfaces).

Remember that only 2 submissions are allowed per week and a minimum of 5 designs in your personal gallery are required to join.

Welcome to Devious Designers. Masked and I are currently working on getting this set up. Right now Im working on some graphics for the journals and what not. I'm planning on buying a subscription for this account soon so be sure to join up. Our goal is to showcase a variety of designs from web layouts to cd covers to logos and splash and so on... tons of stuff. Devious Designers will be an excellent way to get your work out to a wider group of viewers and a great place to make friends with other designers here at DeviantART.
