From our own blog, written by and me: [link]

Well, yes. I mean, really, enough... I've been living abroad for say, nearly 6 years and I always get this question when I reveal my nationality.

-"You don't look like Turkish?"

I do look Turkish. I do bloody look like a Turkish man who has an Australian Hat (and most of you think it is a cowboy hat you ignorants) on top of his head and who speaks fluent English. If you have not left your village except visiting closed-system all-included hotels, is this my problem?

I am talking to you Dutch (If you want you can replace it with French, German, Egyptian, etc.)!

Actually we are so fed up with the expression we see on people's faces, we have just begun to have fun with this situation. Me and Diadra wrote 10 answers to "But, you don't look like Turkish?" question.

+ Oh, you don't look like Turkish?

Answers:

1. I look like Turkish.. (slight hand movement and mind-trick)
2. Thanks, and you totally look German! (priceless..)
3. Can you paint me the picture of Turkish Abidin? (a Totally Turkish joke)
4. While you were living in the caves, they were building Hagia Sophia in my city.
5. Who does?
6. Why so disappointed? Xenophobic, are we?
7. Aww, look at that face. You're trying so hard to conceal your disappointment, that's so sweet. (:
8. Well I think you could work on that look on your face. You know, for the next time you meet someone Turkish. For being less rude, I mean.
9. Wow, did you know that having a less obvious expression of disappointment on face makes you look much younger?
10. Oh, you don't either.

"There are not many of them, all things considered: the truly old.

Even on this planet, in this age, when people consider a mere hundred years, or a thousand, to be an unusual span.

There are, for example, less than ten thousand "humanoid individuals" alive on this planet today who have personal memories of the saber-toothed tiger, the megatherium, the cave bear

There are today less than a thousand who walked the streets of Atlantis (The first Atlantis. The other lands that bore that name were shadows, echo-Atlantises, myth lands, and they came later).

There are less than five hundred living humans who remember the human civilizations that predated the great lizards. (There were a few, fossil records are unreliable. Several of them lasted for millions of years).

There are roughly seventy people walking the earth, human to all appearances (and in a few cases, to all medical tests currently available), who were alive before the earth had begun to congeal from gas and dust.

How well do you know your neighbors? Your friends? Your lovers?

Walk the streets of any city, and stare carefully a -t the people who pass you, and wonder, and know this:

They are there too. The old ones."

As Peter Straub interprets Neil Gaiman's words above in his afterword for "Brief Lives":

"Not too many of these interesting folk are left, which is why we get the elegiac repetition of "less than," but we might respond that we wouldn't mind lives in which brevity is defined on such a scale."

Well, I think one of those few left is my fiancé.
Simdiii, evde zaten uc kedi vardi.

[link]

Isin keyifli ve dogrusunu soylemek gerekirse, oldukca yorucu kismi, Nada'nin, her anina tanik olmami istemesi. Nereden mi anliyorum? Cunku emzirecegi, ufakliklari yalayacagi, oradan oraya tasiyacagi zaman once yanima gelip meeooov meeooov diye bagiriyor, gozumun tam icine bakarak hem de. Sonra ilerliyor, geri donup bakiyor geliyor muyum diye. Gelmezsem daha fena bagiriyor. Bebekleri emzirirken patilerini avuclarimin icine almamdan ve basini oksamamdan hoslaniyor. Daha dogrusu, bunu talep ediyor. Bunlari yapmayi biraktigimda bildiginiz homurdaniyor, soyleniyor. Evin icinde baska bir odada durmama dayanamiyor. Yanima gelip cagiriyor iste. Sanirim ben yaninda olunca kendini daha güvende hissediyor.

O degil de, evde toplam 9 (yaziyla dokkkuz) kedi oldu. Ufakliklar en az 3 ay daha bendeler. Simdi ben kedi annesi mi, anneannesi mi, teyzesi mi oldum? Bir sure sonra delirir miyim? Evde cop biriktirmeye, sokakta oynayan cocuklara bagirmaya baslar miyim? Halim nice olacak?

Boyleyken boyle. Mutlu, heyecanli ve yorgun bi kisi olarak sizayim sabahin korunde artik..
