Turns out a fellow OCT-veteran comrade who goes by the name of got me a subbie for Christmas! Like, whoa!

D'awwww, QG, you shouldn't have!!!

This lady 'ere needs no introduction, since a great deal of you would know who she is and all, but still!

Nearly a good 75 - 85% of her gallery is filled with OCT comics, and they all rock! Hard to say which OCT comic or which page of all OCT endeavours is better. I'm a little stumped on ideas, so I'm hoping this update will kick up enough inspiration juices.

It has been a while since my last journal. Been quite busy with working life and all....
But thanks to all of you who commented in the last journal. I really appreciate the advise and the support.

Anyways, the purpose for this journal entry is what the title said; to show a little appreciation for Byako Round Robin, the tourney that I and many others have participated for nearly a year. If my memory serves me right, Byako started sometime in February 2008. Now why the heck did it get THIS long? The high number of contestants was one factor, along with the intensive round robin fights; we fight everyone in our designated branch. That, and many delays and extensions did contribute to it, but it was mostly because of the round robin fights.

Up to date, I've done a total of 11 rounds for Byako alone. There's officially 10 rounds but there was an extra round; the Tie-breaker round. Now that I'm in the finals. Along with me are 7 other contestants, equally persistent and determined to compete to the end; , , , , , and . We've got another contestant to join in the fray, , who's taking over since he can no longer continue the contest.

But a long tourney is not without consequences. A great many had to forfeit. In my case, creativity was dying. That, and Setrina had always been a problematic character for me to develop. At round 6, the struggle began and I hit rock bottom at round 8 (hence the frustrated last journal).

Upon thinking, I realize that I am glad to have reached this far. Seeing the other 7 still competing encourages me to keep going in. But I feel that the long tourney has taken a toll on some of them as well. 'Twould appear I might not be the only one having motivation problems for this tourney. I fear that I might face the motivation issue again, and for the others too.

Of course, most of us couldn’t do our entries in time because of being really busy and real-life issues. But for those who have motivation problems; we need to figure out a way to beat this down.

One way I could think is to think back on the last 11 rounds, to reflect on my entries, my opponents and etc. So here goes.

After some shrewd observation from ~komodofrog and ~Eviltwinears, I realize that keeping some judges anonymous and some not, is pointless.

The whole anonymity would have worked IF there were no judge characters revealed; something that I should have realized before starting the league. But seeing things now, I can't imagine the league without the judge characters.

And so, from today onwards, all judges will be revealed for all future EA-LEC matches.

Hmmmm....

Some of you prefer to reveal your identity while judging, some actually prefer judging anonymously and some are on the fence on this one.

Ok... how about this.

Decide if whether you truly want to judge anonymously or not. Those who choose to judge anonymously can continue to do so. And those who want to judge, revealing their identity and according to their judge characters, can do so too.

Meaning to say (for example);

JayKoya has decided to judge according to his character. So in any match he judges, his judge character will be shown, thus revealing who's judging the match.

And Diana-hnd has decided to judge anonymously, so she will always go as 'Judge A' for every match she judges.

[ / End of example]

If you guys agree to this, please reply in a comment or a note. Or if you don't, reply anyway! I need your opinions on this!

I'm not sure if there'll be any drawback to this arrangement (or rather, I can't think of any)....

So, if you think that this suggestion is a potential floodgate, do tell me as well.

Judges, I really need your opinion, as this concerns you guys.

As you all know, you judges are given judge symbols and are anonymously assigned to judge the matches. My initial reason for this was to enable you to judge the matches freely and without bias. Not only that, but it is some form of protection for you guys, so that people won’t influence / harass you when you’re judging the challenge.

However, there appears to be quite a bit of problems involved because of this.

For one, it seems to be confusing the challengers when they see the judge symbols. But this is a minor problem.....

The real problem is that you guys have created a unique array of judge characters, complete with their unique / crazy / witty / cool traits. And yet you have to judge anonymously, as though your judge characters serve no purpose.

The more I think about this, I realize this is rather unfair to you guys.

So here’s my question to you guys.

Would you rather let the challengers know who’s judging their challenges? As in, instead of ‘Judge @’, they’ll be seeing Judge AuntieDi (for example).

Do take note that if you guys choose to make your identity known, there is a possibility that the people might influence/harass you guys when judging the match. Although I highly doubt this will happen (since our current members are a decent lot), it's best not to leave such things to chance. Better to prevent than to cure, I think.

I would prefer to maintain the ‘anonymous judging assignment’, mostly to avoid any possible drama, but since you judges are the one doing the hard work of judging, it’s your call. You have the right to decide here.

Hey guys, I'm gonna need your opinions again in the EA-LEC.

Here's the question; should we allow Fan-OCs in the league?

was interested in joining the league with his Fan-OC. In fact, here's his character, Spyke: [link]

I've seen this character in action in the Byako tournaments. At times I forgot that Spyke was actually a fan-OC of the Sonic series. All that artist ever did was borrow the hedgehog species and the world-setting. No relation to the Sonic, the main character (except that they look alike, but that's unavoidable since they're both hedgehogs XD).

If we were to disallow Fan-OCs such as this, then what about our own original characters? Technically speaking, we all do borrow concepts here and there.

I mean, Look at my Charcoal! I borrowed the China concept for his background and design. And what about elf characters? Or vampires? Do we not borrow these concepts from the original creators as well?

Because of this, I'm quite inclined to allow Fan-OCs like Spyke in the league.

The question is, would there be any drawbacks to allow Fan-OCs?

And if it's ok to allow Fan-OCs, to what extend can we accept them?

Please give me advise on this, guys, I would really appreciate your opinions here.

Pretty nifty, don't you think? Although I do like this template, a nagging thought occurred to me....

It is based a little on 's profile template....

Could there be a possibility that we might be accused of using his design without giving credit? I mean, of course, it's freaking green and different! But the design is quite... similar....

This issue really needs to be resolved. The last thing I want to do, is for someone to start screaming "COPYCAT!!!!", and then having to force EVERY member to change their profile templates. That would be a pain and a big inconvenience. And I do NOT want that to happen to any one of you.

I know I'm being a bit overly cautious (and perhaps dumb), but one can never be too cautious, can't it?

I need your views on this matter. If you don't, we might never get the EA-LEC to start soon!

This is a journal for the judges to refer to. The league hasn't start just yet, but I assure you, I will make an announcement when it begins.

The Judge Guidelines

Judging criteria
Now on to the most important part in judging; the judging criteria. As judges, you are to judge the entries according to:

- Art/Clarity/Understandability - max score: 7
- Storyline/Creativity - max score: 8
- Correct/Maximised use of location - max score: 5
- Correct portrayal of OC / NPCs - max score: 5
- Obedience of Rule No. 1 - Yes / No

These criteria are only to help you in judging, especially if you’re stumped . You are required to type down your reasoning for deciding who wins the challenge. You’re not expected to write an essay (goodness no! XD) , but you are expected to give a solid reason behind your judgement.

If you are still stump after using the criteria, you can send a message the other judges and ask their opinion. So judges, you are expected to help your fellow judge whenever you can. Help one another!

And so, as judges....

When the artists have submitted their entries at the deadline, please send in your judgement ASAP, or at most, within 5 days. If you cannot do so in time, send me a note and I’ll ask another judge to settle it.

In the case of a Challenge with different mediums.

There will be an occasion where 2 judges are assigned to a Challenge.

Say for example; writing vs comic. I will assign one judge that has preference for writing to judge the writing, and another that has preference for comic to judge the comic.

In this case, both judges need to provide actual scores to each of the judging criteria. The full score for each criteria is 5. Along with this, you need to give a reason as to why the entry you're judging should win (or not), especially to why you gave a high score for those criterias.

For example, the judge judging the comic will give the following score;

- Art/Clarity/Understandability - 5/7
- Storyline/Creativity - 5/8
- Correct/Maximised use of location - 2/5
- Correct portrayal of OC / NPCs - 4/5
- Obedience of Rule No. 1 - Yes

Total score = 16 / 25

Why this entry should win: The style of this comic is wonderful. The backgrounds are solid, the panelling is dynamic and easy to follow, and the storyline is great too. I particularly like the way Artist A uses his opponent's OC's weakness accurately and secured the win.

And just so happens the judge judging the writing gives it a total score of 20/25, with a good reason as to why it should win too.

And so with the higher score and solid reason, the writing piece is deemed to win the Challenge.

BUT, if this writing piece broke Rule No. 1 by killing the opponent's OC AND it is NOT a Fatality Challenge, that OC automatically losses, the opponent will win the Challenge instead. If BOTH kill each other's OCs, then no one wins. IF it is a Fatality Challenge, then this rule doesn't apply.

On a more serious note, the week has been really tiring for me. I haven't got the chance to work on the league at all. The official start of EA-LEC will be in a few days time.

There's a much less lame excuse for the delay. The creative forces of and have designed the member template and the logo for the league! As soon as the logo is done, the league will begin.

The EA-LEC will officially start on August 1.

Why August 1? Because;

I've got 2 comic entries (Byako and SDL) to get done in 1 weeks' time. Time has gotten more tight because of working life. And the recent real-life issues are not making things any easier for me....

And extra week after those deadlines would be just nice to touch up some things for the league, like creating a logo, fix up some journals of the EA-LEC, judging guides, etc, etc.

I'm tempted to just start it soon, but I'd rather not - haste makes waste. The last thing we need is to start a league that's incomplete - it would be a dreadfully messy ordeal, not just for me, but for everyone else.

Ok dokie, people. I've already opened an account for the League:

So far the main stuff have been written up... though I still can't shake the feeling that there's some mistakes.... Do me a favour guys, if you see a mistake, please tell me right away! -_-;

I'd like to start the EA-LEC soon (hopefully by next week), but there are some details that I need your opinion on....

Judging Concerns

I know I mentioned that in EA-LEC, you can use written entries/comics/animation. What worries me is the Challenges; when artists use different mediums against each other. (Like writing vs comic/comic vs animation/writing vs animation)

How... should we really judge between these two mediums? Let's be honest for a bit, one medium is at a disadvantage against the other. Written entries might be at a disadvantage against comics, and the same goes for comics against animation.

I think we all need to agree with how the different mediums should be judged, so that all parties would understand when they see the judgement of their entries.

High rankings

Please read the High rankings first or you might have no clue what's being said below.

has given me ideas about EA-LEC having 3 high rankings for OCs; Elite, Omega and Legendary.

But after writing, adjusting and re-reading the whole thing, I realize one flaw; a little too much bureaucracy! Allow me to show you why;

For instance, an ordinary OC defeats an Omega OC in a normal Challenge. But that does not mean the ordinary OC will take the Omega OC's place. The Omega OC will still keep the rank. In order to take over the rank, the ordinary OC must formally challenge an Elite to take the place, and then formally challenge an Omega.

Basically speaking, to earn that rank, you need to go through the whole process. First, be an Elite, then defeat an Omega to be one of them. Then after being an Omega can you challenge the Legendary.

I can see why the SDL had only just the Elite ranks. No need to go through the whole process, just fight one of them and earn the bloody rank!

But the one thing about having 3 ranks and making people to go through the whole process; it makes the whole thing challenging.

So that's leaves me with a question for you guys; should we go for the 3 high ranks? Or should we settle for 1 high rank?

How to distribute XP points to Group members

Before you read this part, you need to read the levelling system first, otherwise it might be a bit confusing here.

It's only natural for members of a Group to gain something when the Group wins. But... how? Take the total of XP points earned by the Group and divide it among the members? I don't think that would be a good move? Or should the members be offered one level up instead?

What other things can Clans do? Should we even have this in the first place?

I know I mentioned that Groups can reach the Clan status, which would mean they're higher than mere groups.

But then it occurred to me; what plus points/special privileges should a Clan get?

And then another question came up to me; should we even have Clan status in the first place? What do you guys think?

Hey, what about the EA-LEC?

I got a bit side-tracked with some real-life issues....

I'm going to set myself a deadline. By July 11, I'll have settled the levelling system and locations. With that, we can first start the EA-LEC with Challenges, which is the most basic and likely a more frequent activity in the league.

An escapade!
For the next 2 days, I'll be going on a little holiday out of the state to see my sister. So expect me to be missing until Sunday.

Before I run off, I'd like to share a little something about a tournament I found out about:

The Perfect-Experiment tournament:

In the city of Exodus, there lies a company called Ecks Corp, a medical research company. However, the term 'medical research' is nothing more than a well-placed facade.

In reality, Ecks Corp conducts brutal experiments. Brutal human experiments. All for one objective in mind; to create the perfect weapon out of the human experiments.

Vladimir Warren, the CEO, intends to find and recruit powerful, capable people and creatures, (willingly or not) force them to eliminate each other until only one is left. That lone victor will be deemed worthy to be the next weapon.

What would really happen to the victor? Well... that is up to you to see for yourself.

Corrupt executives, apathetic city officials were most couldn't give a damn, experiments who work for the company or secretly against it... Needless to say, it'll be a recipe for devious plots and death and chaos.

The Perfect-Experiment tournament is open to only 32 people. It'll be accepting auditions until up to Aug 22.

This tournament accepts both comic AND written entries.

Name of the League:

Ok dokie, guys! You guys voted for it; The League of Extraordinary Characters (LEC) has the most votes.

I’m quite amazed at how tight the competition was between the names. At one point, Exercitus Artifex was leading, and then it was LEC.

I was thinking…..

Let’s face it. Exercitus Artifex does sound pretty nice. Although in Latin it means “Artist Army”, it is quite original on its own.

LEC may be based on an actual title, but it serves the theme of the league, in that it is a league for original characters. And original characters are extraordinary in their own way.

Then I realized, why not have the best of both worlds?

Exercitus Artifex: The League of Extraordinary Characters.

A combination of both words. We don’t always have to look at Exercitus Artifex as ‘artist army’. It could simply be a name, for the league of extraordinary characters. Ya get what I mean?

I need your opinions on this. Should we combine these names together, or just settle for League of Extraordinary Characters (LEC)?

I think it needs a little correction here and there (story-wise AND grammar). So please do take a look.

Hey guys, it’s me again, bringing you updates in the planning of the League. Exams are done, so it's time to get back to work.

Firstly, I need to thank you guys. Seriously. The amount of ideas you guys have… your suggestions have been encouraging and helped a lot.

But before I start with the details, I need to announce something important:

Ok, now on to the League details!

Details of the OC League

Since the League will be really new, we’ll be starting it off with the basic activities first:
Challenges
Exhibition challenges
Mission / Adventure

Challenges:
The basic idea is for an artist to challenge another artist; pitting one OC against the challenger’s OC.
You and your opponent can decide on the deadline. It can be 2 weeks, 3 weeks, a month, or even ‘Until-Finished’.
The one who draws/writes/animates his or her OC defeating the opponent in a creative, convincing, definite fight will win the challenge.
This type of challenge is NOT restricted to be just a 1 vs. 1 match. It can be a collaboration of 2 vs. 2, a 2 vs. 1, your own group of OC vs. opponent’s group of OC, or even a group of different artists’ OC vs. another group of OC . Just make it clear that you and your opponent agree to the same challenge.
These challenges can be either combat-based or non-combat. The challenge could be a normal fight, or even “Best Date between OC wins”.
You can choose whichever location there is, as long as it’s in the boundaries of the League.
You must NOT kill your opponent’s OC in a Challenge. However….
There is one special type of Challenge; the Fatality Match. This is the only match where the OC must kill the other to win the fight. (See The Resurrection to revive the dead OC)
Both challengers must have won at least ONE challenge to do a Fatality Match.
You are allowed to use comic, written or animated entries. You are highly encouraged to use the same medium when challenging each other. As in, comic vs. comic, writing vs. writing, animation vs. animation. Still, you are allowed to use different mediums against each other, like comic vs. writing and such.

- When judging, it's not just the art you have to consider, but also story and the creativity too!
- You will have to read both the entries that are assigned to you to be judged and give a judgement as soon as you can. (Which also means whenever you can - this is volunteer work after all )
- You need to give a reasonable comment as to why you think the artists should win (or lose).

- help me think of a better name for the League. Initially I called it the League of Extraordinary Characters because it was a slight variation from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen [link] (the movie ). Should we keep it or should we go for another name?


- let's face it, an OC in the League is going to 'die' somehow. But how should the dead OC be 'revived'? What kind of challenge should we put the dead OCs to prove that their living worth? It has to be challenging, yet not impossible... something to make people think twice before choosing Fatality matches. Or should we let the dead be dead for good? *sniffle*


- If you guys feel that the dead OCs should be given a chance, we'll need a Reaper character. Can you guys spare a Reaper character? =3


- Apart from just fighting, what else can we do? Suggestions, pwease! =3


- Locations. It would be great if there were locations that members can choose to fight in. Well, I'm not good with locations and stuff, but I know you guys don't! Volunteer if you can? Pwease? =3


- Here's an idea I got from ~Bunni89... Remember what I said about Exhibition matches?

Well, what if there is a character that you want to challenge, but the creator is too busy to be up for the challenge? What if you just want to draw the fight anyway, for the heck of it?

Heya guys~

My apologies for being so late in posting this. Real-life is slowly and surely catching real fast. D=

I started that poll about the league idea to see how many people would be interested or would want to participate. Seems to me there are some good support here. I'm not expecting the league to be on a big scale, but you guys are more than enough to get it started!

Following the results of the poll, I think it's about time I get to the details of the League that I'm thinking of starting.

And I also found out that there's another Original Character tournament going to start soon: the OCBC3.

The way I see it, there really is a lot of leagues and such being started...

The League of Extraordinary Characters!

A league where original characters (OC) of ANY kind can challenge one another!

Ok... what are you talking about?! What OC? What challenge? What the heck is this whole thing about?!

First thing first; OC here stands for Original Characters.

The concept is like this; your OC is set to fight another person's OC. What both of you will do is draw/write/animate your version of the fight, where your OC wins. As in, you draw the fight where your character wins, and the other would draw the fight where his/her character wins.

The one with the better entry (as in better story/fight scenes/etc) wins the fight between you two. There has been many 'tournament' style contest like this taking place, especially among comic artists.

I was teasing with the idea of starting a league, where anyone could challenge another person to a fight. The prize? Well, in this case, just for fun and improving writing/drawing/animating skills!

As many of you would have known, this idea was very much inspired by 's Samurai Duel League (SDL).


So... what's so different about this league and the SDL?

W-ell... it does follow the concept of SDL, but what's different is the characters that can join the league. In good ol' *RoninsUltramix's SDL, all characters must be based on feudal times. What-Dr McNinja? What the heck?

Yes, once again, fangirl alert.

I can't remember the times I laughed out loud at the pages of this webcomic. Dr McNinja revolves around a ninja, who also happens to be a doctor. My friend introduced me to the comic and I was stuck to the monitor for 2 days reading all the archives.

For a comic that started out from a strange Internet pseudonym, it became a series of pure slapstick humour and even interesting plots.

It's got ninjas (of course, duh!), dinosaurs and even Ben Franklin (US people will recognize him ) in there - and I should stop yapping and give you the link.

Just a Thought - I wonder....

I'm sure quite a lot of you have heard about the Samurai Duel League (SDL) - where your original-characters are feudal-based and you can challenge anyone you want, set the deadline or how the match should be....

I do wonder....

The SDL is a pretty nifty league. And fighting feudal-based characters are just as cool too.

However, don't you guys sometimes hope to challenge original characters with their real powers? With the magic, guns, machines, etc etc?

I wonder if someone out there is doing this already.... Have you guys heard of such a thing? I'm just curious... because if there is one, I'd like to participate in it. (Not in actual tourney, but like a duel league or something)

Anyway, it's just a thought. Feel free to ignore!

On a more sober note, I recently saw a very well-done fan-made animation called Dead Fantasy.

It's a fight animation between Final Fantasy girls VS the Tecmo girls.

What's incredible about this animation is the high quality AND the way the fight is done between these girls. Pure unadulterated, exciting brawl. Day-mn, I envy this guy's ideas on the action scenes!

Prophecy tells the story of the Wolf King, a legendary warrior destined to fight the darkness. For 500 years the White Wolf Society has kept watch through the ages for signs of his arrival. Now Sigul, the Lone Wolf, leader of the White Wolf Society has decided the time has come at last. The White Wolf Tournament must be held once again and a new Wolf King will be chosen. The strongest fighters in the land have been invited to the tournament held in The Lair, the ancient fortress temple of the White Wolves. Fierce battles await and eventually only one fighter will remain standing. He will be crowned the Wolf King and take his place in legend.

Who can join?

Open to everyone, whether you're in the Samurai Duel League or not! Your original character (OC) must be according to the feudal times; no guns/robots/magic please.

A most unusual occurrence has taken place in the face of DeviantArt. It is not certain if these strange event is only momentary or not. Nevertheless, it was more than enough to make Diana-hnd to.... in her own words, "Laugh her ass off".

I will expect a lot of Deviant artists in the entire website to react to this strange phenomenon. Whether they will react positively or adversely, it is not known yet.

I was browsing about and I stumbled upon 's journal entry. She's joined some contest called Rising Stars of Manga. [link]

I took a look at her entry and the rest of the bunch. All I can say is ... wow.

They've got some pretty great talent there. Manga style, man-hwa style... along with the art, they've come up with pretty neat storylines in the allocated pages.

Byako Round Robin Update:

Setrina got defeated muffin-style, but...!

Round 2 has begun!

It will be Setrina VS 's Serenette!

Holy moly. I was hoping to get a match against this guy... but not this soon! Needless to say, this is both unnerving and exciting as well. Keith said he might be re-designing Setrina's outfit a bit. After seeing that neat re-design job he did on his last opponent, I can't wait to see how he'll draw Setrina!

Samurai Duel League:

What possessed me to do the whole 16 pages in ink??! I guess it's because of my last journal. I figured it's about time I stop avoiding ink pens and move on from the pencils. But imagine this, no extensive rubbing was done on the pages! I just needed to tinker around with Brightness/Contrast and the Levels option. Very nifty indeed.

's Sigul was a fun character to duel with. I regret that I haven't been able to do more cool moves with him.

Anything else?

I got sick. Ugh. The weather has been erratic off-late. One minute, it was hot, hot, HOT. The next minute, it was raining cats and dawgs! I guess the fact that I walked under the rain with only my coat above my head didn't help...

But at least I'm much, much better now. Thank the good Lord for doctors. I was able to finish my SDL entry in time because of 'em.

After drawing like crazy the past few days, I think I'm going to at least spend a day goofing off... y'know, a day without touching a pencil at least. I'm going to attempt reading the Lord of the Rings novel version. The last time I tried, I fell asleep. This time I hope I'll be able to at least finish Book 1.

Inking linearts is essential. Without a doubt. They make lineart look so much nicer and cleaner. And they're less of a pain to do CG with.

I like inking too. But what I really, really hate is the rubbing-away-pencil-marks part. It is tedious, messy and sometimes it scrunches up the paper which I painstakingly drew on. _{(By which if that happens, you will hear some crazy chick screaming her lungs out all the way from the other side of the world)}

I guess one way to avoid the rubbing part is to ink the linearts digitally. Too bad for me though, 'cause I don't have a tablet. And even if I did, I probably wouldn't like using it. Nothing beats drawing it on an actual paper, y'know?

So that leaves me with a question to you folks who ink their linearts traditionally. How do you do it? Is there any other way to get rid of those pencil marks easily? Or is rubbing really the only way? DX

The Haunted Palace contest winner is ...



Congratulations, QueenGwenevere~! You won, girl!


Wow, to get even into the Final Round wasn't something I expected. I'm grateful enough to have even reached this far. I have reached the point where I can fully display out the story that I had planned throughout this contest, with the help of so many amazing characters by the equally creative people who made them. The story has now been fully told, and I'm glad that it's come to an end that I had hoped to show.

I got something even more than the prize. I met new people, made new friends, saw great talents at work, learned some cool things from them and more importantly, I came to a crucial realization while drawing for this contest.

Before I joined, I was terribly dispirited with drawing in general. Even when I was drawing my own webcomic series. For some reason, I just didn't like drawing it. I was dissatisfied with my art. It was even to the point that I felt I should stop drawing.

This Haunted Palace contest has made me realize that drawing comics is really what I like doing best. I may not have good CG skillls, or have a distinct original style that most talented artists have. But by gosh, drawing comics is another thing altogether.

Of course, that's one thing. Drawing other people's characters was refreshing. I'm amazed with the ideas these people can get, especially that of my previous opponents.

So, in a nutshell, I had a hell lot of fun!

I know I sound terribly repetitive, but I'd like to thank everyone who commented on my entries and supported me. I'm sorry if I hadn't been answering to all of your comments, but be rest assured that I read everyone of them. And I really appreciate all of them. Your words were encouraging, giving me motivation and even ideas for my entries and future artworks.

Once again, thank you very much, all of you. Glompage for you guys - whether you like it or not! MWAHAHA!

....... a pretty good movie.

When I first heard of this movie, I knew that it would involve lotsa blood and gore and killing. They wouldn't put that additional title "Demon Barber of Fleet Street" without a good reason. Ugh. On normal occasions, I would stay away from such movies.

But then I saw that it was a musical.

Ever since I watched Moulin Rouge, I became a sucker for musicals. So when I realized that Sweeney Todd was one itself....

Score one point.

Then I found out there was Johny Depp in the movie.

Score another point. Actually, two points in one go XD. I went to see the movie with my sisters.

Sis no. 2 was close to falling asleep because of her lack of love for musicals. Sis no. 1, who initially did not want to see a musical, got converted into liking musicals now.

As for me.... I enjoy the singing and all; they're still ringing in my head. Still, it was a little unnerving to see blood splattered and all that violent killing. It's kinda hard to enjoy Johny Depp's singing while his character Sweeney Todd is slitting throats. I was too busy trying not to see the violent death. >_<

But hey. Apart from that, I'd recommend this musically morbid movie to those who can stomach all that blood and want to enjoy a few good singing here and there.

Be warned; if you do not enjoy musicals, I would not recommend this movie to you. I did feel that it was -slightly- draggy, but I liked hearing the musics... so yeah.

If I was given the chance to rewatch it, I'd probably go for it.

PANIC ALERT!

But on a more sober note... Wow. It's kinda... surreal. What really hooked me into this whole Original Character Tournaments was none other than the ENDZONE tournament hosted by =Endling. Watching *Unknown-person's Climber, *lan-kun's Dood and ~effenndee's Grampy's battles really inspired me a lot. I've been itching to get into a tournament since then.

And then one day, I saw =BlackLillian's audition entry. That's how I found out about this Haunted Palace. Heh heh, I had only 1 day to submit my audition entry. Oh wait, I think it was 2 or 3 days. From then on, it was freaking fun all the way. Of course, panic alerts were thrown about. But heck, it was all worth it.

I guess I just want to say to you all this; Thanks. Thanks for the support, for your great entries and being my new buddies.

I was debating whether to put a journal about this or not. It's not like it's anything special... but then again, it's not everyday I become 22.

So yeah, 'tis the day I become 22 years old.

It's kinda sad. Because the older I get, the more I realized that I didn't change one bit. I still feel like a 13 year old. Well, I did hear that the mind grows slower than the body. Maybe that's what's happening to me.

I can't keep being like that, especially when I get to the working world, which will be due in 6 months' time. That will be when I graduate from college.

I wonder, will I still be like this, even when I'm 23? Ugh.

Perhaps by then I will change. For the worst or for the better? Hm. I wouldn't know. I shouldn't be bothered by this. Best to live each day at a time instead of fretting what year 2009 would be like for me.

Once upon a time, there was this crazy girl called Diana-HND who went online, wanting to know the results of the Haunted Palace Contest held by .... and to stalk the artists of DeviantArt.

While she was feeding her Internet addiction, Charcoal, Noah, Blaze, Jackal and Canary were resting after the exhausting fights. They were merely chatting away (with the exception of Blaze and Jackal who were bickering because he kept calling her a half-bat), enjoying their non-battle time.

Suddenly, a piercing shriek shook the house and the very core of their souls. It came from Diana-HND's room.

Charcoal jumped over his couch, rushed in and gasped. The others who arrived were just as shocked.

Diana-HND had fallen with her face smack upon the floor. Charcoal quickly flipped her onto her back and found that she was frothing. She must have seen something so frightening that she...

A shaky finger tapped on Charcoal's shoulder. He looked up and saw it was Blaze who caught his attention, his gaze transfixed onto the computer screen.

Charcoal stood up and took a good look at the screen.

He was admitted into Round 3, and his opponent will be 's Dr Nubs.

The Dr. Nubs.

THE Ashley Lange's DR NUBS. The one so random and psychotic and happy and violent and... there would be no end to the list of things that could possibly describe that frightening yet loveable... dentist creature.

Everyone else stood stock still at this revelation. Charcoal was shivering, knowing very well that he could end up skewered, or humiliated, or both... or worse...

Suddenly the room window was set ablaze.

All at once, the five of them were screaming, hoisting the still-fainted Diana-HND over their shoulders and scrambling to safety, trying to escape the fury of Dr. Nubs....

When in reality, it was just the rather clueless yet eloquent Toni Tafoni (who belongs to ), who was experimenting with new ways of fire-breathing techniques. Dr. Nubs was elsewhere, still playing with his new friend Suppository Sue.

Nevertheless, everyone knows that they can expect more than just fire when Dr. Nubs corners Charcoal....

As you all know, my Round 2 opponent in 's OC contest is Blaze, 's character.

I've just finished the -very-rough- draft of Round 2, and... well....

I've got 29 pages.

29 FREAKING PAGES.

It was originally 32 pages! No matter how much I try to cut it, I land up with 29!

And to make things even worse, I intend to re-think the fight sequence between Charcoal and Blaze, to make it more interesting.

You know what that means?!! More than 32 freaking pages!!!

OH MY FREAKING GOSH.

IT'S ALIVE!

My 5gigs is... alive! I just check it out on a whim and then I saw it alive! What a miracle, I thought they were really gone for good!

That means I won't have to re-colour those old pages! The good ones are saved!

Ok, sanity has return. Some of my assignments have been completed, so I think I've got time to do some drawing. That, and it's been AGES since I drew anything seriously. My last Kiriban pic was fun, a lot more details and a little more effort... I wanna do that again!

10 things about my art...

1) I started drawing since.... um.... probably since kindergarten days.

2) The very first thing I drew (as far as I can remember) where stick figures.

3) I don't have much talents in one-pic illustrations. I prefer drawing comics because comics aren't all about art.
........ Right?

4) First inspiration of art came from Doraemon. The series inspired me so much that I drew out my own rip-ff version of Doraemon series. About 2 of 'em. @__@

5) Whenever I draw a dog, it's always Bogus (The dog in this pic: [link]). He's the easiest to draw! In fact, my first comics were based on him. Bogus is actually a cartoon version of my late Rottweiler, Rolly.

6) I started drawing comic series because I had a big influence from DragonBall, back when I was in primary school. I started a few series and quit halfway (cause I lost interest in 'em).

7) Even though I loved Doraemon and Dragonball, I never knew what manga or anime was. When I met my friend at Form 4, she's the one who inspired me to draw in manga style: those big-wide eyes and hot hot guys.

8) I STILL had vague ideas of what manga or anime is, despite my friend's (from no. 7) exposure to them. It was when I got into NYO~! and Comic Fiesta that I started getting deeper understanding. #__#

9) I can draw old people reasonably well. It's a pity that I cannot do the same for pretty girls and boys. Shucks!

10) For me, girls are much easier to draw. I cannot draw muscle men, and my bishounens are seriously limited.

1) I love drawing on used paper. I really do. I doodle a lot on them. Heck, even my best drawings are one of them! Give me a bright, empty paper and you'll leave me at a lost!

2) I like eating garlic. If you think that's strange, there's more in this point no. 2! Sometimes when I chop up garlic to mix it with dog food, I tend to steal a small piece of 'em!

Pls note: No, my dog hasn't killed me yet for this act of thievery. Yet.

3) I have a habit of saying "It's all your fault!" to Nicky the dawg. She's a happy, cheery dog who'll wag her tail at almost anything. So even when I tell her "It's all your fault!", she wags her tail anyway. Why do I do this? I guess I get satisfaction from getting a response.

Hey, it's not like she understood what I said! Really!

4) I listen to the radio. Normal? Not if you listen to it every single time you step into your room. It's rare that I shut off the radio when I'm in the room. What can I say? I love music, and I love 'em free!

5) Sometimes when I'm bored, I just... daze away. In my room. And the radio must be on. I could just sit there and daze away, randomly flipping through my comics, but mostly daze away!

6) When I play those small time RPG games like Legend of Zelda, I have a habit of reading those dialogues. Of course, I do that only when I'm alone. Boy, I might have a career in voice acting!

Why? Why? You ask? I can tell you many... but I don't know where to start. But at the same time, I feel bad for leaving you guys without saying anything.

I guess you could say that the major reason was that... I don't know how to say this. Ah, yes.

Envy.

Everytime I look into other people's art, it always make me envious. Envious that I could never be as talented. That I could never reach that level. That I could .... Well, you get the idea. Sigh.

I know, this kind of feeling is stupid, and even more stupid that I should leave DA because of this. But I just can't take it anymore. Envy can do a lot of damage to the mind and soul. I don't want to come here only to get plaqued by those feelings.

Apart from that, another reason is that it is this point of time that makes all those anger and envious feelings collide to something destructive, something that just pulls me apart. I can't take it anymore. I just can't.

If you pay particular attention to today's date, especially if you're Malaysian, you'll know why.

It appears that college life has gotten a teensy bit harder than I thought. Now everytime I go into the lecture classroom, nothing registers in the head! Ok, never mind about that, 'cause that usually happens with me. How did I rectify that in last semester? Simple! Slob around the library, collect moss by sitting for a long time, read the freaking text books, and then go home with a mind that feels all knocked up.

I used to be able to finish tutorials and stuff like that in time, back in the last semester. How is it that I can't do the same this semester?! Oh wait, maybe it's because the subjects a little more harder and complex to understand. Or maybe it's because I'm LAZY. D:

Hell yeah, I know I'm lazy, but I've done NOTHING to fix that! Heck, I even drew up a time schedule to make sure I do my work in time! But nooooooooo, lazy traits had to kick in, and in the end, the work accumulates and the mind is left completely confused.

At the rate this is going, I'm gonna flunk the freaking exams! For the last semesters I managed to save my ass by getting distinctions for most subjects. Heck, the only credit I can remember getting was just for one subject at last semester, which coincidentally was when the laziness trait kicked in.

To make things better, interesting ideas for TWO one-shot comics decides to crash in. Why oh WHY do good ideas come at the wrong timing? WHY couldn't they come when I'm feeling freaking bored last time?! My shots of inspiration is sorely lacking and I can't afford to lose those ideas just like that! D:

So let's see, I gotta catch up on understanding the freaking syllabus, catch up on tutorials, draw out my ideas before they go 'BOOM-bye-bye!'. Did I mentioned that my final exams is at week 14 and now is week 9?! That's ONE month away! Could I possible catch on my studies before week 14 arrives?! HACK!

I haven't been doing anything art-ly lately. I guess college+laziness+no motivation caught up with me.

It sucks having no motivation. The ideas are there; it's just that I'm too lazy or have no drive to draw at all. There's this one-shot comic that I've been hankering to do, called 'A Schoolgirl's Revenge'. Yet I can't bring myself to put it to paper! I've only been successful in drafting page 1, but that's it! X_X

I just... need to move my fingers! To draw!
