For the unaanointed; Gladiators was a show where people with names such as "Koota" and "Viper" faced off against untrained professionals trying to win a couple of grand. Little kids sit in the audience waving dodgy signs I'm sure the art department made them take and people get hit with bats and pushed off things. It is hilarious, utterly hilarious. It was part of teh classic vault of 90's TV, along with the show where people dressed up in Snoopy costumes and raced over obstacle course and the educational Captain Planet (A comic about this topic may be on it's way if I stop being lazy...) It, along with the awesomely cool BBC Robin Hood has made my Sundays.

Yes, I'm back, it's holidays and I have spare time, such a sweet commodity to be sure. So that means I've got to get my hand back in a bit. I forgot how much of a release drawing can be; just putting together some lines and actually creating something, it's so liberating and it's amzing how the curve and position of a single line can really make or break a picture. I haven't had any breakfast.
Soooo... yes, I'm back. I've answered all the comments until about a year back, after that I just cut my losses, a big thankyou to everyone who's commented or had a chat with me over the past couple of years, (I think my DA account turned 3 on the 1st of April) and a huge thanks for the faves on my stuff. It's so good to be back, although it's probably only temporary, because come Term 2 I've really got to knuckle down.
I just had my half yearly exams for my senior year. I think I went alright (Still chasing after some first places in my subjects...) except for Maths, I've always been terrible at maths and for some reason beating the Elite Four on Pokemon Pearl seemed like a much more worthy task than studying for the 3 hour exam. I know, it's just a weird thing I do, if I'm not good at something, even when I try, I start to resent it and not try. So, I might drop maths, I already have 13 units which is way too much to have.
My major work's coming along nicely, I finished my first draft a few weeks ago, it's an 8000 word short story, I need to go back and add a bit more drama and feeling into it. I'm really hoping I can get in the top band; I have a little bit of an idea where I am as an artist but when it comes to my writing skills I have no clue.
Anyways, been to one or two good parties, freaked out, realised I'm a major fangirl and did some serious cramming; you know, the usual kid's stuff. I'm turning 18 in May, still got to think what I'm going to do about a party....

Well, that worked out well. I. am. a. jerk. What's more I'm a jerk without the internet cause I downloaded 250MB in 4 days and my mum hid the modem cable (Now that's some good parenting!) I'm sorry you guys, you've been doing some awesome stuff lately and I just know when I finally get the time to catch up on the deviations I'll be all like "Woah!" I really miss Google's toolbar with the Spellcheck function.
I'd also like to apologise to The Enforcers readers.... all five of you... it's been what?.... 5 months since I updated! I have the half-coloured next update on my computer at home. It's truly frustrating because I mentally have the rest of Mutation mapped out in my head but I can never seem to muster the time or ethusiasm to do anything remotely proactive. It will get done and I won't give up, I just need to work out how to balance my life better.
And now for some idle banter! It is so cold down here, it's the coldest winter I can ever remember. I live in the coast and it's getting down to like 3 degrees C! It's supposed to be Australia not.... Cold...land... (Yeah, could have said Iceland but Coldland amuses me more.) And I saw Transformers, it was pretty awesome-faced in my opinion, the story wasn't too complex but the specail FX were great!
Anyways, there's no real need to reply to this, sorry wasting valuable art-making/pie-eating time XD!

The Compooty is back
Actually that's not fully true, the old compooty with no drivers for my stuff, Photoshop Elements and less memory than a senile goldfish is back. They're replacing the better one with a new one. Which could take forever.
So. This means I bring you pictures soon, ja?I hope so, I have lots of little sketches of things to upload; sabre tooths and drunken lama princesses etc. However, we have a guest in our computer room this week so the 'rents will keep me out of there unt I have to find my old FTP software to get the site up and running.
Lots of people I know have birthdays in May, and to you all I wish a happy birthday. This also presents me with an exciting proposal, for I am also one of these infamous May-born people and is turning seventeen (on the 30th. and I hear ~Tobias72 has plans for some sort of kidnapping in celebration. that crazy Kate.). Which means.... I can go for my P's!!!! I just have 2 hours and 20 minutes of driving left before I hit the mandatory 50 hours needed to go for the test, which should be managable.
Kids say the funniest things, I went to the Sydney Royal Easter Show and heard this little kid call a smallish Ferris Wheel the 'n00b Ferris wheel.' And the other day I was at the shops and this little kid exclaims 'Great Scot!' at his brother. Maybe I'm just easily amused.
Oh! And I gave blood two weeks ago. I was scared out of my brain, I hate needles and my blood just shut off 3/4 of the way through. But it didn't really hurt and they gave us chocolate muffins when we finished. YAY!

I'm going to go and get myself a job, hopefully one that has nothing to do with the hospitality industry.
I seriously had no idea that Year 11 was going to be so chockers, every week I have yet another of Hercules' 12 labours to complete. Good thing they're subjects I like.
Have you noticed the lack of spelling mistakes in this? Have you? have you? I found a most useful toolbar that checks my spelling on the net, I don't know who downloaded the Google toolbar onto my compy but I like it.

I think so too. Well, back to school. My uniform is itchy and it smells like I took a swim in the washing machine. There's new teachers and new classes, as much as I dislike the ol' institution, it is a welcome change from the cabin fever of being at home (Meh, my parents work all the time.) So yes, I haven't properly prepared my generic 'I hate school, it's rooned my life' journal.
And I start my senior years, which means I get to choose all my subjects. I'm doing IPT (Computers), Biology, Ancient History, Religion, 3 unit English, Maths and Multimedia at TAFE (I'm really looking forwards to that, should be a good deal of fun.)

No people, it's not the cowardly finish of a war, it's a three day bonding session with our fellow year group, all 180 of us and our iron clad little groups. Everyone's supposed to go and I'm guessing we're all going to be forced into awkward social situations. So yeah, that's where I'll be for the next couple of days. I'm not a very social person really... ok, at ALL, I lot of people don't really 'get' my sense of humour and I get all quiet when I'm with peoples I don't trust, I really just have a few very close buddies and a group of friends. That's just the same as our whole year, we're all pretty comfortable in our own groups so this is going to be... awkward. I mean, everyone's got a judgement of everyone else and over the past four years everyone's pretty much established who they like and everyone else. I'm sorry about that, I'm feeling really grim about this whole thing but talk to me in a week or so and we'll see if our whole year is all chummy or not.

Now, I'd love to to tell you it's because I've just done something really great/I have a new passion/social life/ dose of sanity but none of the previous are true! Yay for me! I've just been away... and no, I wasn't anywhere near Russia last Thursday, I know nothing about the jewel heist.
My head hurts but I'm not going to complain about that, If I spent as much time doing productive stuff as I did obsessing about stuff I'd probably be... meh, can't think of anything humourous.
So I'm SORRY. I'm sorry once again for not answering my comments, not commenting on your deviations and not calling you as much as I should. I just want to give a REALLY big thanks to all those people out there who comment on my stuff regardless of whether I've commented on their deviations of late, you guys are great!
Also, it's the Enforcers birthday on November 16 but this year it's a little different, last year I practically threatened to hit everyone who didn't give me some fanarts on the head with a spade XD. November 16 is smack bang in the middle of my exam week so I've got to sort all that stuff out now and I just wanted to let all of you out there who are cowering in their houses with the blinds drawn waiting for me to find you that you don't need to hide. Meh, I've got all these pictures to do for my major Art project but I just can't seem to put my heart into it, I was so keen and I should be enjoying it but with 2 weeks to complete at least three polished, major works I'm starting to get at little stressed *eats stress ball* So I'll just have to put my other stuff on hold until I get something together for this. I just feel kind of static and it's making my drawings static too.
The holidays are almost over for me which is a bit of a bummer, those two weeks of sweet freedom went so fast, I wish I'd done more during that time but there's not that much to do out here, I'm kind of isolated from everyone, including my friends so I have to spend a lot of time cooped up at home... by myself... going crazy.

My trial exams are finally over and aren't I glad?
I've been studying super-hard these past two weeks, putting everything else on hold such as arts and the internet. Most of the tests were pretty easy. Now, let's look at the week in review, shall we?
OK, Exams started Thursday last week, I had Information Software Tech. (Difficult and easy at the same time.), RE (Full marks!!!) and Science.
Friday I'd been dreading. Friday was the day of my major PE assessment, Physical Ed. shouldn't even be a subject, they mark us on how fast we can do a lap and junk like that and teach us the same thing every year: DRUGS ARE BAD. Anyways, the task was to give a three minute speech on a plan you've made to solve a community youth issue. I hate speeches, to be honest I love a captive audience but speeches eat at my nerves like rats through electrical wiring.
Then it was computer skills on Monday ("Which is the play button?" I'm serious, that was one of the questions XD) and Non-calculator maths (yeech.)
Today I had the two big ones: English and Maths. Maths is my doom subject, I just hate all the rules and logic... IT BURNS!!!!
And so now I am free. Apart from an essay on Australian literature. But mainly free, I just have a week and a half of school left before the holidays!

So, I can finally finish my half of an art trade with ~Kuzzy who drew an awesome picture of the "Batman?!?" moment from The Enforcers. [link]
Other awesome art related news; as my final unit of work for Yr 10 Visual Arts I get to a body of work of my own choosing. I'm working on a collection of digital anthro works which I'm hoping will look effective when a combine them all to make a sort of magazine to hand in to school. It's given me an oppurtunity to do a bit of realistic practice, stylising from reality instead of drawing from a pre-concencied idea of what something should look like.
So yeah, I have about four different giftart pictures to do too.
I finally finished reading and replying to the bootyload of comments on my messages and looking at all those wonderful deviations you've all worked so hard on, there's just a few more left to look at and I'm trying my best to leave you all some decent comments.
Well, I guess that all for now but in the words of many a comic book villan "I'll be back! I'll have my revenge!"

In other news.... alright, I don't have any other news for you all. But I do just want to thank the positive people around me for making the world a good place to live in.
Spring is coming here in Australia, which is great, the weather's warmer, the sky is blue, we'll get more time out of class to watch our school whomp everyone else at rugby league. Spring is so nice, especially here in the bush. I got up early this morning with a good ol' bowl of Cornflakes and just sat outside and listen to all the birds. Then I went and sat at the computer for 3 hours... But that's beside the point.
Also, I'd just like to apologise if I haven't commented on your work/journals yet or haven't replied to comments. I'm trying to my best to trawl through them (I really let things build up, I'm not particulary popular or anything as complimenting as that.) I'm getting around to it but first I have to survive the Tournament of the Minds Regionals, I'm sort of team leader and we only have a week to learn the script I wrote and train them up for the spontaneous problems. (Translation: T.O.M is a problem solving challenge, you solve a social, mathmatical or liturature based problem and present as a play to judges as well as doing a spontaneous problem on the day.)
Wow, that was a long journal entry to be sure.

I have to tell you 10 things about my art:
1. I'm two artists and my art is either done by one or the other. It's my split personalities; art is either done by Happy Carmen (sugar-charged, random, psycho, laughing at everything-ness) and slightly Emo Carmen (Angry, frustrated, destructive, insecure, dramatic)
2. I like to draw to make other or myself happy. I always feel like a picture's worked if the person I did it for likes it.
3. My comic is my world. I'm always thinking about it, it doesn't really matter how many people read it, I'm doing what I love.
4. Man, I am way too insecure about my art, I'm always worried that I'm not talented enough to have a creative career.
5. I REALLY try to steer clear of the ol' furry stereotypes. Take Elsie for example, I could have drawn her as a chesty. booty-kicking machine wearing nothing but a leather bikini in a meaningless relationship with the hero but I didn't.
If that sort of thing works for you, yay for you.
6. I've been drawing since before I can remember but it's only in the past few years I've taken any real interest in it.
7. I do most of my drawing on the bus or while I'm watching TV.
8. I like encouraging others because I know that when friends on DA encourage or help me it makes me feel good about myself and helps me improve.
9. My favourite themes to express are conflict, sacrafice, belonging and betrayal. I don't do love because I've never really been in love and it's not something on my mind right now,
10. I always wish I could do some more serious and meaningful artworks but things just generally end up light-hearted and the like.

We were playing Buckets (A sorta variation of dodgeball, kids) when someone I'm not too fond of gets himself hit *still chortles* A little silent chuckle and high-five later I'm out and I'm walking over to the side when the same guy pegs it point blank at my hand, jarring it up. Stupid karma.
I had planned on doing a lot of drawing this weekend and I'm in a really drawing-esque mood but I can't do it. So if I was going to do a picture for you of late you'll just have to wait a bit longer.
In other Carmen-related news (It's the best kind of news!) I have to choose my HSC subjects this week and I'm in a bit of trouble; I know I'll do Multimedia but I can't get a UAI on it, I want to art but I think I'd have to do a body of work that was meaningless to me so I don't get terrible marks, I feel obliged to do Maths because I don't want to shut any doors for myself even though I hate it and I know I want to do history and biology. Everyone else at school knows basically what they want to do but I've got know idea, if I make the wrong decision I'll have to live with it for 1 1/2 years, it could affect my UAI and I'm bound to get stressed out also. So what to do? If any Aussies out there have done their HSC I'd be interested to know what you picked and how it worked out for you. If the above paragraph made absolutely no sense to you then I thank you for trying.

I always hate the last day of the holidays, it's sort of tainted by the whole 'getting ready for school process and doing all that homework I was suppossed to do over the holidays but didn't'. Yeah, OK, I'm procrastinating by writing this, I should be packing my bag and finishing my art project (Bleh.)
Hmm.. just looking down the list of 'Journal Entries' and it seems I add more journals than deviations which is pretty understandable, it takes about four hours to colour and shade a normal picture.
Anyways, this term I'm going to try and get motivated, I do this thing at school called Tournament of the Minds and as usual I'm the oldest team member which means I'll probably be running the team, I wasn't even sure I wanted to do it this year but somehow I got persuaded. (Durn flattery.) It's also subject selection time for the HSC... yeep.
I really like talking about myself, eh? Maybe there shall be some giftarts up soon for certain people, I've just had a real urge to draw stuff for other people lately, we'll just have to wait and see if I get motivated enough to actually finish them off. I definately owe some people giftys to thank them for encouraging me, critiquing and commenting and just because I like their characters.
I've made up my mind, when I finish year 12 I'm going to travel overseas (Probably to Europe and Britian) I've only ever been overseas once, to Fiji (It is so beautiful there!) and I'm sick of here, it's so quiet out here in teh country.

Status: Way too cheap to buy a subscription.
So, it's the school holidays for me. This means I have all the spare time I need to do all the things I want to do. Like learning to drive, writing more comics, drawing stuff I owe people, finishing my sculpture, chatting to the crazinesses, coding it up on my site (*Makes Dr. Frink noises*) and just generally getting up to mischief (Museum heist!) Also, my brother's away on a school trip for two weeks so I have the run of the house and the compy!!!
And another little thing, a term has been coined; and that term is this: 'Dropping the E-Bomb'. It refers to making even a vague reference to The Enforcers in my presence. This will set me off on a five-minute long ramble about my latest comic, characters, plot twists or jokes comics I'm writing. Anyway, this DOES have a point, of the people out there who do write comics they're serious about, do you find that you become immersed in the world you've created? Do you constantly think about your comic? Scribble little plot related pictures for hours on end? Does Carmen just spend too much time by herself in a dark room?
Oh! I actually found someone else in my school that uses deviantart, wh00t!
Expect to see a fair bit more of me around now, I've been quite slack lately but now I have the time to write decent comments on people's artworks, telling them what I like about their pieces and not just going 'Oh cool! XD'

Time passed, the bottoms tore and the colour started to had, good times were had, good times.
They were the best pairs of jeans ever, they were so comfortable and I wore them untill they were cottony soft.
Weeks back now the material frayed around the knees, that was no big deal, I knew my jeans were coming to their end but I still had a few months left with the most comfortable piece of clothing I've ever worn.
On Saturday at rougly 11am in the morning, after a crazy,crazy free-for-all with my bro over some toothpaste. The knees were torn beyond repair.
So, here's an ode to my beloved jeans, gone to meet their maker, proabably somewhere in China.

The Life and Times of Carmen D
Well, not much to talk about this week. I have to start thinking about what sort of career path I'm going to take which is a rather troubling issue for me. I jus don't know what to do exactly and where I'm going to go with it. (Truthfully, I want to spend my adult life drawing comics. I'm not sure that will happen but you never know.)
Also, I wanted to get some giftarts done for a few special people who've really helped me/inspired me/ made me laugh at inconvienient moments but I have a problem. My problem is this; as I put pen to paper I get nervous, I'm thinking 'What if I screw this up?' and just generally think too much about what I do. And surprise, surprise I DO screw it up, so now I have explained my lack of submissions and comics. I really need help with this, it's driving me insane.

My 'Schoolyard Chums' (see below) we're coming over to my house for a bit of a party so I decided to put together something special, chocolate mousse. I'll be honest, the stuff looked like dog vomit and had these huge chunks of hazelnuts. When it was time to serve it up, *Tobias72 laughed for a full five minutes at the drippy, goopy crime against nature that was my mousse and noone else was rather keen to eat it. Oh well, we had a great night, except for the bugs, and the cold (We were sleeping in this tin shack on our property, we had an XBox and TV so I thought it's be fun...).
BAH!!!!! If you've seen 'carmen. Personified. mangafied' you shall see I have a long ponytail. Sadly, this is no more, somehow I was convinced to get it cut. Ok, well, this week I had basic surgery at the dentists, they cut open my gum so my tooth can come through. I had to have 3 needles and afterwards I didn't feel a thing (though I was whacked out a bit)
And after a truely terrible day today, I lost my comic-making inks, screwed up a whole animation and didn't get published in the only aussie anthro magazine, I recieved something that totally made me happy, [link] , thankyou soo much omega, you brightened my day wiht your fantastic piece of gift art. I shall remember this when I enslave humanity!
Wow, U2 writes all these songs I love and I didn't even realise they wrote 'em, I've crammed my MP3 with 'em.
Also, I think I know what I want to do as a job now, an animator, I just woke up and my art was more fluid and lively than ever before, EVER BEFORE!! Hand-drawn animation is slowly dying out and I want to fight for it's survival, form a rebeliious band of anti-Disney animators who create for the feeling and sheer love it rather than the Disney-esque guidlines and marketing. Yes, we finally have a website for The Enforcers- [link] Yes, i don't have enough ka-ching or readers to get myself I domain name (at least, I assume). An Australian anthro site was nice enough to give me some hosting. So if you want your link there or you see something that's not quite right (I think I fixed up the fanart (c) stuff) please feel free to tell me. Also, if you're art's there and you don't want it to be feel free to tell me. All opions and suggestion for the site are of course, appreciated.
Also, I have a lot of free time so if anyone'd like some art feel free to ask (and please don;t feel obligated to draw some back, I'm just doing this because I'm a 'nice' person)

So, once again its that special time of year were I have to use my brain *shudders* I suppose it wouldn't be christmas without me forcing another random Christmas Special on all my watchers (later this week...) and passing out from all the well-wishing I'll be doing. Hope you all have a merry Christmas and an another new year free from enslavement by a superior anthro race.
Eek.. I got my report back today and I quote "...her workbook resembles an artbook more than a mathsbook..." When you have an attention span like mine it's a miracle I didn't spend the entire semester painting 'The last Supper' and writing a saga of sci-fi novels about kiilbots and doom-mo-trons....
Well, I've spent my last week in solitary confinment, eyeing off the presents under our tree and wondering where that weapon of mass destruction I asked for is hidden...

Let it be known across the lands, I am a freak. At least according to my charming peers, who live in a cesspool of advertising and bikini models. What? Me? Bitter?
We had a killer storm yesterday, in the bus shelter the water was up to my ankles and I got hit by hail.
No art, comments or MSN till Friday next week. I have to study for nine one-hour exams next week. And then I will be free for two sweet months. So, everyone I owe a picture to, next Friday I shall begin. No comic till next Friday either. a friend and I are putting together the webby.
Currently: Studying and watching Invader Zim (mm...chicken!)
