Well, it's new to me. The mail just delivered my new Nikon F4S, and I'm really stoked. After doing an insane amount of research, I decided it was probably one of the better 35mm cameras ever made. The best thing about it to me is that it can use nearly any Nikon lens ever made, manual or AF. The old knob-style controls are kick-ass and it's built like a tank!

Hopefully I can take it out for a test run this weekend.

I know I'd like to work as a photographer, but I'm not really sure exactly which direction to take it. I've been out of school for a year now, rethinking everything, and it's hard to get the momentum going again. I've kept myself busy with periodic projects to keep the creative juices flowing, but I get that feeling sometimes that none of it is really productive. Sure, I enjoy it and I learn a whole lot in my self-education mode.

I guess what I really want is to start heading in a definite direction. I need to find a good Photo school somewhere in Florida (to keep the tuition costs down) and hopefully hone my style enough to get noticed. I've thought about the Ringling School of Art and Design in Tampa. If anyone has any info/ recommendations, give me a shout.

I've been too busy to go out and take pictures for a while now, so I decided to post some more of the shots I took in Europe a couple of years ago. Please let me know what you think.

I've been using an old Yashica TL-Electro X 35mm camera, which came out in 1968. It's been a good starter camera to learn with-- heavy bodied, durable, completely manual. It used the old m42 screw-mount lenses, which I had built a small collection of. I recently purchased a Yashica FX-2, which came out in the late 70's and uses contax-bayonet style lenses. I like the quality of this one so much better that I think I'll be selling the older one along with all of its lenses. It's nice to get new toys.
