I've got a lot of people interested in hiring me for portrait work lately. I'm all about getting paid to do something I love, but I've got no studio space or pro lighting equipment. So I don't really know how to get this going just yet. I'm looking at buying a basic lighting kit that's portable. Beyond that, I'm wondering if making house calls would work out-- making the portraits in the people's own homes.

If anyone has some experience and could give any pointers on how to get started, drop me a note.. I'd really appreciate it.

I've been contemplating my future recently. I know I'd like to work as a photographer, but I'm not really sure exactly which direction to take it. I've been out of school for a year now, rethinking everything, and it's hard to get the momentum going again. I've kept myself busy with periodic projects to keep the creative juices flowing, but I get that feeling sometimes that none of it is really productive. Sure, I enjoy it and I learn a whole lot in my self-education mode.

I guess what I really want is to start heading in a definite direction. I need to find a good Photo school somewhere in Florida (to keep the tuition costs down) and hopefully hone my style enough to get noticed. I've thought about the Ringling School of Art and Design in Tampa. If anyone has any info/ recommendations, give me a shout.

This month I'm really gonna try to get into portraiture. Nothing straightforward, I think-- sx-70 polaroids, Holga shots, etc. I'm also looking to build a large pinhole camera that uses sheetfilm. (Anyone who could help/ give info on this would be my new best friend.) Several of my friends are gonne help me out by being models.
