So, as some of you might recall, in my last journal entry, I stated that the club would be doing things a little differently from now on, and instead of adding pics to the club's gallery, any Domo-related pics would be added to the club's favourites, and then periodically I'd post some thumbnail sharing journal posts. Well, THREE MONTHS LATER (

) here's the first installment of said thumb sharing posts!

UPDATES!!!

New club practices

Long story short: The gallery is being phased out and the club will ONLY add deviations to its favourites from now on.

Why?
Everyone hates it when they submit a pic to a club, only to have people

/comment on the pic AT the club instead of the original deviation right? (okay, well perhaps not everyone, but a signifnicant amount, I'm sure.) So, much like other sites, I thought it would be better if the club instead had collection of everyone's deviations with direct links to the originals so there's no confusion.

(and, aside from that, it's 934859045 times easier for me to add things to the faves instead of saving the pic to my HD, writing up the description choosing the category, etc. etc.

)

Currently I've moved all but a few of the deviations that were in the gallery to the favourites. The remaining deviations are still there because the original artists have since deleted/stored away the pics at their gallery, so there's no original pic to

I've sent them all notes, so hopefully they'll be willing to at least re-add the pics to their scraps or something!

If not, I'll figure something out.

Because of this new "no gallery, only

s"-practice, I realize that pictures submitted to the club might get less exposure as no notifications are sent out for new faves. As a result, I've decided to subscribe the club (which also helped with regard to the members list, since DA changed the privacy settings on people's friends lists

)

[critics corner: Yes, make a 403 forbidden setting on people's friends lists if they choose to hide it, but MATURE CONTENT PICTURES are still clickable with a stupid "mature content" placeholder, which I would probably make a person who is "not of age" or whatever to see such content even MORE curious, and if the artist clicked the "allow original file to be downloaded", THAT picture is NOT filtered. So in short: wtf.]

Please re-fav any deviations you've faved here!!!

I spent the majority of the day yesterday going through deviations in the gallery and I sent a note to EVERY SINGLE PERSON that faved a pic here instead of the original deviation, to let them know that their fav would be disappearing soon and if they could please fav the original pic. I sent out over 100 notes.

I'm lookin' out for you guys! Don't ever say I don't care. hehe

I would just like to extend a warm gesture of thanks for your patience and possible ignorance on the fact that we update here once in a Blue Moon! On behalf of =ilovegravy and myself (=Denkou-no-Ronin), I sincerely apologise for our slackness, we aren't really living up to the Japanese' work ethic which causes large amounts of Nihon-jin to die every year from Karoshi, aka death from overwork. We at ~domo-club are indeed the opposite, we're slack and we rarely update, and as such our purpose here is to sit and look pretty!

Regardless of our crappy work ethic, I will try to update here more often, as this is a club that deserves love and attention, among other things

I'll be working on adding members in the coming days, so stay tuned Deviants!

Also it was pointed out to me that there might be some people who would like to watch the club but NOT be part of the club

so if that is the case please send me a note that you'd rather not be on the members list/watched back.
(I'm going make it that way, instead of vice versa "send me a note if you want to be part of the club", cuz I'm guessing that 95% of the people who come here want to be part of the club, and the message center can get pretty unmanageable as it is, so the less messages/notes I have to deal with, the better

BUT! As always if you want to submit art to the gallery, please send me a note, as I don't always get a chance to check the comments posted on the front page

okay, so our free subscription lapsed, and I never got to do that silly thumbnail idea

so I just forked over 5 bucks so the idea could go on, haha =Denkou-no-Ronin suggested we take donations for future subscriptions... would anyone be willing to donate money for that? hehe one dollar or a couple cents would even be cool. But anyhoo, I figured I'd just check before I setup anything

Unfortunately, I LOST the list of thumbnails I wanted to link here!! (due to a computer crash and me stupidly not saving it in a text file

) so in the meantime, here's some thumbs off the top of my head that I like:

In other news...
As you might have noticed, the club FINALLY has an ID!

and also in our gallery is the first submission to the club!

so if you are also interested in having a pic featured in the gallery, just make sure it's in your own gallery first, then send a note to the club to submit it!

Besides that, I set up the club's journal entries now so that the member's list has its own entry, and the basic club info also has its own entry. They are both linked below.

I'd like to thank every single one of you who entered, you made this competition interesting for sure

I will leave the prize and so forth up to =Blackmago and *TehTXR.

I'd like to thank every single person in this club actually, you make this whole place great, all full of Domo-Kun fandom and zeal, you make me so very proud to be an admin here. What doesn't make me proud, however, is the lack of involvement I see with the other admin, I take time to help around and run this place when nobody else does, the window of opportunity is there people, you have access to this place, not just me. And in no way have I ever restricted the priveledges of my fellow admin, never. I have actively encouraged evolvements within the upper tier here. In no way am I paying out the members, you guys do great

you've earned my kudos. I left to go on a trip to Brisbane last week, and arrived back this morning, tot find that the domo kun club account had NOT been logged in since I had gone, real dedication there. I'm sorry if I sound abrasive, but it really gets to me that I'm the only one doing anything here that isn't just entering domo-kun into the search field and faving what I find. I stand by my decision to post such grief on the public journal, as this is a community wide problem.

Lets get some community spirit going! Here's a competition for all you club members! (the ones listed below, as of today Sunday 11th December 2005) It's a christmas competition!

Here's the dealy-o:

YOU create a domo-kun christmas themed image, it can be any genre you like, I dont care

Just make it christmassy and domo-kun! The competition will be drawn on christmas eve and winners announced somewhere in the near future around then (probably new years day or something lol >_< we're getting DRUNK!)

As for prizes, well, we are gonna keep that a secret for the time being

Ah, I forgot to say HOW to enter the competition, just submit your entry as a deviation to your own account and note the club with the link to your entry! You can enter as many times as you like!
