We'll be hanging there at Artist Alley, so drop on by, buy a print, ask for a sketch, or simply come and say hi, it's all good. I'm extra exited because our own personal hero Bruce Campbell will be attending there, along with Ted Raimi, so to say I'm super fucking exited would be an understatement!
This is the first time we'll be attending a Miami show and it really eases the pain of having missed out at this years Megacon.

I usually negotiate pricing individually with the client, but I set out basic pricing fee's for simple, no background pieces.

Pencils (one character)- $25-$30... Depending on complexity.

Inks (one character)- $35-$40... Depending on complexity.

Full Digital Color Piece (one character)- $55-$60... Depending on complexity.

Fully rendered background piece- PM me

Multiple character piece- PM me

I can also design character concepts (don't worry, there still your characters).
Not afraid of nudes (I suppose Mercy makes that obvious)

Well, I decided to open a photography account here at deviant.
Now you're probably asking, "but Oz, why make a separate account? Why not post your pics here?" Well, to be honnest, I wanted my photography to be a separate entity than what I do as an illustrator. The subject matter, execution and overall tone and feel of the account will be diferent, and i want to have people appreciate unbiasedly the diferent things I can bring to the table with my art, same as how I've been contemplating also opening up another account for my graphic design work. You see, being a illustrator, you tend to get pigeonholed as "that comic book guy", and even though I'm proud to be the "comic book guy", having those words come out of someone who's interviewing you for a graphic design position or a photography gig isn't the most encouraging thing that can happen. I find myself having to go out of my way sometimes as a graphic designer (which is basically how I make a living) to prove to everyone that I'm more than a cartoon guy (those of you who work in the comic book field as well as the design field know what I'm talking about). So in order to keep things steady and in order, I've desided to separate my fields of expertise. Granted, I'll still be posting my comic book and illustrator work on this account, so don't worry about that, as a matter of fact, I guess this is a good thing, because now you get to have more of me !

Well, it's been one good X-Mas for me, and a pretty good year all around! And now I created my own studio.

Like the logo? hehehehe... Anyways, I partnered up with a fellow publisher and decided to join forces to see if we can organize the bulk of Puerto Rican talent and see if we can help undiscovered talent get published. Right now I'm gonna concentrate my efforts in putting out my first book entitled Hybrid Genesis. I won't delve into the details, but I will post my progress through here. We're also working on a website and a bunch of other projects.

Now I know what you're thinking... "But what about Mercy?!??!?!" Well that's the great part, she's still coming, but I wanna get my feet wet again on the industry in the mean time until I get to work on her, been a while since I've actually put 100% effort on comics, so I gotta get my grove back. But we had our first meeting and we've actually managed to grab some pretty awesome talent!!! In the mean time I need some inkers and colorists, so if you're interested in helping us out, let me know.

Well, that'll be all for now. I'm gonna post some deviations now.

Been a while, I know. I appologize. It' been kind of crazy around here. My car has become a money pit of fucked up proportions. I can't seem to keep it in working condition for more than a week. It's like it has a timer that counts down to when it's finnally paid off so it can completely dismantle before my eyess. But I'm working on it now, so hopefully it'll stop being a brat. Perry's back!! Thanks to all the people who rallied in support of this situation and to the DA administrators who resolved this issue accordingly. Thanks.

As for the lack of posts.... Sorry for the neglect. My life has become consumed with my dayjob, and freelancing. I guess the graphic design thing pays more than the illustratin, unfortunately. Altough I am venturing into starting a new studio with a industry friend. I obviously have no expectations here, this beeong like my 5th venture into a partnership. But I'll at least go into it with a positive outlook. We'll see what we come up with. Stay tuned.

PerryGallagher, one of the most talented and humble Photographic artists in DA was just banned. BANNED!!!! You can read her entry here [link] . I know Perry has had past dificulties with the DA administrators due to his subject matter (for those not familiar with his work, he tended to use a more sensual, some would say erotic subject matter for his photography), but all in all he took his scrapes with stride and grace, and allot of sarcastic hummor. Unfortunately most users who could relate to him and his problem rallied together, causing a bit of a stir amongst fellow deviants, and apparently this was taken to the extreme by DA.

Well after I read Ayleene's rant, well, I wen't in one of my own.
Here's what I said:

"OH JESUS NOOO!!!!

What the fuck is going on around here!!!! I can't believe this would happen to Perry of all people. I share your plight and am dumbfounded and confused. And you're right on one thing, Perry was always polite and diplomatic in his rants and protests. It just seems like such a scumbag thing to do to shut him up all together. What a spoiled bitch thing to do!!! And why? Because he wasn't shutting up about it? He wasn't bending over on all four's allowing himself and his art get butt-raped?? Don't they realize that the reason that every deviation has a comments section is for that purpose?? TO FUCKING COMMENT!!! To tell that artist and the world what that art means and does to you, wether you love it or fucking hate it, you get to have as much of a right to comment on that art, blog, comment, etc... as the person who posted it. And just because you don't like that person, or his art, or what he has to say, and you happen to have a little power, instead of voicing your opinion like a civilized person, you're gonna shut him up all together?!?!?!?! You're singlehandedly gonna take it upon yourself to deny enyone else to not only enjoy the art, but also to comment, or to agree, or disagree with said piece??? I understand and respect the fact that DA has set rules and guidelines for submissions. And I understand the need to enforce those policies when deemed nessesary. But in all honnesty, you FUCKED UP!!! you guy's wen't ahead and took it to another level. You not only censured the art, but you censured the artist. No, bullshit... you SILENCED THE ARTIST!!!! And why? 'Cause he pissed you off? Said a little too much? Was finding allot of people who were not only listening, but agreeing with him? Then maybe you guys should have defended your policies and simply given Perry and his followers the respect they deserved by making a valid point to defend your stance. Maybe you feel you guy's don't need to explain yourselves to the members, and that's your perogative... But I'm here to tell you that given the circumstances, you had nothing to loose by simply stating your case. But now you lost ALLOT!!! Let's face it, Perry was doing you all a favor by being a member here. His art, his imput, his contributions and his influence upon many deviants was well known and felt. Many artists were inspired, and let's face it, many unknown models got their first gig, and thus their first taste of the idustry with Perry. He has the recognition and the name in the industry to make a stink about this whole place and have people, and maybe even the media listen to him. And if he does, you can't say you don't have it coming, but let's face it, he's not that kind of guy. He made his contempt for your unjust treatment of him a big joke. He made amusing games and contests to lighten his rage and frustration. He was, for all intents and purposes, being civilized. And you know why he did it? 'Cause he knew that whould get under your skin. And you know what? He was right, and now DA looks like the sore looser that thows the chess set and pieces across the room when he know's he's loosing.

Classy DA, real classy..."

Now then, to the task at hand. Many of you've been wondering why I waited so long to put this little girl on. Well, I guess I wanted you all to get used to the average family stuff before getting into the more mature stuff, guess after that I just lost track.
As for Mercy, here's a little background check...
Back in the day, 96 I think, I was in the Orlando Mega Con, doing sketches and what not, and this guy comes up to me and asks me to see if I can design a character for him. He had a couple of rough sketches showing off diferent versions of her, but at the end I ended up just winging it. He seemed to like it allot and I gave him my card. Couple of months go by and he calls up seeing if I was interested in helping him out develop the character. We talked for a while, threw a few ideas, and I thought we had something there. Long story short, I get out of Puerto Rico, crash with him for a couple of months, come back to Puerto Rico, make an ashcan of the character (her name's Mercy by the way), threw it around the convention circuit for a couple of years, generated a decent following and buzz, and our collective lazy asses haven't done athything with her since. Well, that's mostly my fault, added to the fact that Bob (that's the partner) couldn't pay me (although to his credit, he did make me co-owner of the character). Well, guess we got tired of waiting, so I'm pretty much coming out with the book soon. I know, I've said that allot... but I really am!!!

Anywho... Here's the story...
Mercy is this orphaned tenage girl who was litterally raised in a convent. Jack is an ex Navy Seal's/Special Forces soldier guy who goes to prison for the alleged murder of his wife. Well, he pulls a Sawshank and littlerally bumps into Mercy while trying to escape. Did I mention he finds her naked, covered in blood (not her own's) and uncontious? Well, against his better judgement he doesn't leave her there and thus out story begins. If some of you cynics out there think it sounds cliché, don't worry, we've thrown in a couple of crazy surprises to keep you on your toes. It's your average fucked up story filled with hummor, violence, drinking, and best of all, no magic "Hulk" pants that never rip, no matter how big or furry the werewolf's get. It's pretty non-apollogetic.

It was a sweet deal, but it didn't last. So after the newspaper deal fell, I kept the copyright and went indy with them. Unfortunately things here in P.R. work a little differently than in the rest of the world, and finding investors or clients to advertise on the web site or magazine was a bitch... so that died out too. Well, not dead entirely, so hopefully you'll see them again some day... There one of my babies, so I won't let them die!!!
