I just read an article about how the brain shrinks as you get older. I always hate those articles: I'm getting older, I can't seem to stop it! >_< But what it really means, is that as one gets older, the odds one can pick up anything new keep going down and down! So, Waaaayy back in September, October time frame I started reading Bram Stokers Dracula, since it was free on my Nook reader. I've tried reading the book before but it starts out very boring. Much to do about nothing much. BUT it HAS been awhile since there's been some block buster Sci-Fi out there. It was a fun film. But wow, the animation was spot on. It's all in the eyes, I always say, and those characters eyes were properly animated. The eyes followed targets and were expressive. The CG totally worked for me and I'm usually quite fussy about my 3D animation.

So I'm a Windoz user. It's how I pay the bills around here programming on the environment. So I'm fairly motivated to use MS latest whether I like it or not. Win 7 seems to be the same as Vista. If you've got a machine made for it you'll probably be OK. But if not. It's not so great.

I loaded the Win7 family pack update. I thought I'd try the 64 bit version, it's an upgrade right? No. If you've got 32 bit Vista you can only upgrade to 32 bit Win7. I call it lame but not unexpected from tight fisted Balmer and Co.

After the reboot my computer started chewing it's arm off saying that my CPU is overclocked! Overclocked? Hey I drive 55 on the Autobahn, I don't overclock! So I finally got around to re-loading Firefox back up for my browser. I was using it before, but had to stop when I set up my Vista machine because for some strange reason Firefox is not preloaded in Vista! ^_^

Well, I must say I'm so glad I'm back. Firefox is so much more responsive than IE. For one it loads the page regardless of the images or not. IE always waits too long for the images. I've been taking on a little more on in the art trying to keep some amount of background there. As you see I end up not inking or coloring such. I just need to draw for those. I think the overall quality goes down a bit. Tho' I think in the long run it will be well worth it.

"what the hell is a color profile?"

For a long time I've had a sneaking suspiscion that my color rendering in XP was not as good as it could be. The preview window never "exactly" matched the .jpg file generated from what I would see when I viewing the source Photoshop file in Photoshop. For the most part I figured I needed to tune my CRT display.

Should Xara where a bikini or a onepiece when she goes to the beach?

If you find inking is ruining your beautiful pencil sketches and you wish you could start over without redrawing your pencils, try this technique for generating copies of your pencil sketch in photo - red. It's just like drawing with a red pencil but you don't need the red pencil!

I just bought a 30 dollar Sound Blaster Audigy sound card for my computer. 24bit 96khz capable card and you know what it's sounds nearly as good as my Denon DCD 3000 player! I replaced the sound because the drivers from Realtek trashed my computer. But I'm floored by the sound in my headphones. Quite incredible. It's amazing what you can get out of inexpensive equipment now a days!

Mind you I have a great pair of headphones, Sennheiser HD-600's. I used to have the Grado SR 325's which IMHO blow everything out of the water. But they're damn uncomfortable. I bought a cheap sketch pad while away and made a bunch of sketches of Xara. I'll be uploading them starting... well now! ^_^ I'll put most in my scraps, but a few I'll put in my normal art bin. They're really raw. 0.7 mil lead on cheap paper. But they were fun to draw. I hope to do this sort of thing more often in the future.
