Well, You've probably noticed I haven't put out a lot of art lately, and that's because life has caught up with me. I've pretty much terminated my contract with Bonus Level, simply because I can't keep up the art for them and live at the same time.

Trying to work, apply for college, all that fun stuff. My drawings may be pretty few and far-between, but hopefully not too bad.

Sorry I've been kinda gone from the face of the earth the past month or so. After camp, I'd been pretty busy with this and that and the other thing to the point that I didn't really put much effort (if any) into my art.

Well, I'm officially back! I have a pencil sketch to finish now that I've done Bonus Level's model sheet, and I think I'm going to upgrade it to a digital sketch for their patience with me.

Hey all,

I'm currently packing up for the flight to Fresno, CA to serve as staff at our church camp Hye Sierra. My stress, thankfully, is slowly melting away as excitement settles in. I'll be teaching dance once more, my favorite camp activity!

I'm flying Delta, rather than Southwest, and I gotta tell you--the baggage fees are killer. You mean I gotta shell out 15 bucks just for my first checked in piece of luggage?! Thankfully, I only have one bag, cuz the price only goes up from there.

Hey all,

Man, I hate having too much on my plate. I really need to get off my duff during my off time and finish this model sheet as well as a certain pencil sketch commish. Seriously, if I just put some hard effort into it, I'll finish them both! And soon.

I'm feeling a little discouraged on the career front, as I'm still undecided about a career path, but all my options seem potentially bleak in the area of money. Writing and music are not two high-paying jobs for just anyone. Am I really good enough to make a career out of either one? Do I have what it takes? Will my faith make it impossible? I suppose everyone enters this quandary at this point in their lives, but I feel like a not-so-intrepid pioneer facing a huge landscape and not knowing where to go, where every path looks dangerous and he knows that he has to make a decision soon. I feel like I don't have a goal. A direction. I hate it! I'm looking at my SAT scores tonight, and then going after scholarships, hopefully. There's a start, at least.

Anyway, I'd better get going. I have some drawings to finish. -_^

Hey all,

*sigh.*

Another week is almost done and gone. Another week of stress, work, and stressful work.

I'm trying to figure out plane tickets to get to summer camp this year. I'm teaching dance class again, and I'm trying to find someone I can ride with. -_- Talk about stress. And ticket prices! Ugh.

I feel like I'm saying "ugh" somewhere in every journal I make, anymore.

Anyway, still still STILL working on commissions! DX Sorry. Work has made things difficult. Especially this week, changing hours from second to first shift, which was awkward getting used to. I'm also carpooling for my Mom and sister, who also work in the same town, so that means a couple hours sometimes sitting in Starbucks with no internet connection. And no money to buy coffee with! Yet. I can't be going to Starbucks almost every day and NOT get coffee! 0_0 That would be preposterous. Not to mention totally evil. Maybe I can bring my tablet next time, and maybe do some drawing.

Hey, all!

I've been super busy these past weeks, not only with work at my new job (finally!) but with studying for my SAT that I took today (also finally!). I'm so glad to have it behind me. Studying for it has been nerve racking. I knew that I was going to be fine on the reading and writing sections, but the math section was the one I was really getting worried about. Math is my absolute worst subject. I hate it, and it hates me. Ok, maybe it's not THAT bad, but it was still not a fun period of the test. I struggled through most of it, but I may have done all right.

Hopefully.

So, now I have to finish a character sheet for Bonus Level, which I've only barely begun. -__-

Whew!

I'm also trying to study real hard on my piano skills, checking out music programs in the area. It looks like Madison has a good one, but I'm also going to check some local stuff too. Now that I've done the SAT, I can apply for some more scholarships and financial aid. Growing up stinks sometimes....

Ah, the world. I'm sick and tired of it! I'm ready for things to kinda settle down and quit being so worrying and hectic all the time. I'm ready to get a steady job, get into a routine, get my life straightened and on course. I'm ready to figure out what I want to do for a career! It's all up in the air, it seems. I'm ready for it all to fall into place, now. -__-

What a nice new feature DA gave us. Us, as in those of us who don't know enough CSS for jack.

Like me. And, ya know...other people. If I knew more about getting around with CSS, I'd probably take a crack at it, but alas I don't, and I really got fizzled out on web code the past year.

I thought I had wanted to go into web design as a career. It seemed steady, and it was what my parents suggested. So, naturally, wanting to please, I went along with it and almost fooled myself into thinking that it was what I wanted to do. But no. I really got frustrated with the inordinate amount of code languages and the lack of true imagination in it all. It was too rigid. My passions are three: art, music, and writing. So, which of these do I truly want to pursue? I'm personally leaning toward music. I could teach, compose, or maybe even perform, and I truly love to play. I don't know. I'm also writing a novel that I plan to publish at some point (maybe when it's...uh...finished). So I could possibly do that. I don't know. As I said, I want everything to fall into place, but I'm going to have to work for it.

In other news...

I'm thinking of making a tutorial or two. Perhaps on anatomy or drawing construction lines or posing or somesuch. It's in the new poll, so vote if you have a thought!

Hey All!

Well, after a very long hiatus due to my grandparents' inordinately slow computer (so slow that internet was practically useless; I stayed with them for a month or so after getting out of TX), I'm finally back to DeviantART!

Yippee!

So, I'm back to art in general. I'm now in Wisconsin, just in time to miss the snow and most of the cold, but now experiencing a limitation of employment, namely: zero. I'm looking but so far no promises.

Anyway, looking forward to getting back into the DA community after all this time!

My job deal here is the good thing that's coming to an end. My uncle has a buddy he's looking to hire, and since I was going to leave in a few months anyway, he's going to go ahead and hire the guy, which means I have one week left of work here before I'm shipped to Mississippi with my sister, then up to Wisconsin to live with the rest of the family. I hope I can find a suitable job there. In the meantime, I'd love to take more commissions, so if you all could spread the word, that'd be great. :] Thanks again for all the support. Hey all!

I thank you for your support and thoughts concerning my decision to stay/leave TX eventually. I've decided to stick with the original plan, which has me staying here for at least 3-4 months more, working hard and earning money for college.

I'm really feeling good about it, and I know it's because God blessed it. I'm just not done spending my life with my loving parents, my two beautiful little sisters, and my awesome little bro.

Life just throws us hurdles in this grand race we all run. Thankfully, I jumped this one without any problem, just a lot of stress.

I win!

In other news, my uncle let me use his ATT password for the wifi here in Starbucks. My Starbucks experience is now COMPLETE! Mwuaaaahahahahahahaaaaa! >:]

Hey all,

You know I'm not a complainer or a whiner (for the most part, anyway) and I don't usually spill my guts over stuff in my normal life, but I need to vent.

I'm living here in the DFW area of Texas working for my uncle in order to put some money in the bank, mainly for college. My parents and one of my sisters (two of my siblings live with their mom in Phoenix, AZ and we don't get to see them that much; I miss them a lot) are moving from Tucson, AZ to Wisconsin.

The plan was (and for now, still is) that I'd work here for probably no more than five-six months, get some money for college, then move in with the parents and sister up in Wisconsin, where I'd go to college.

However, my uncle (who, by the way, is pretty wealthy) is really pulling for me to stay a lot longer, work for him, and go to college here. He would help out with pretty much anything I needed, short of paying tuition and stuff like that, and I could still live here with them and take advantage of all the opportunities here. The only thing is, I don't really know what those opportunities are.....

According to him (and the entire American culture), I'm 19 years old, so I should be seriously getting ready to move out on my own, get away from the parents, and become independent. But I'm not so sure. My dad lived with his parents pretty much till he got married, and he's very successful and independent himself. He's a real go-getter, and I look up to that. My uncle's the same way, except he's really into the whole "moving out" deal.

He was talking to me a lot about it on the hour's drive to work tonight, and it made me realize that I'm really at a crossroads here. Where do I go to college? Where do I choose to live? What do I want to become? Will I have a job in the next year or two if I leave here? Will I find what I want here in TX? Will I find what I want in WI?

I have some serious thinking to do, since he kinda needs an answer on whether or not I stay or go within the next five months by Monday. He's got a couple guys that are looking for jobs that he knows, and he needs to know what I want. He's not a mean guy, he'll understand if I don't accept his offer, but here's the deal:

I love my family. A lot. There's not a whole lot that's more important to me. And I miss them. A lot. :\ Especially my little sisters and brother. We have such a chemistry with each other.

So I'm leaning to sticking with the original plan. But I need to give it some thought and prayer, talk to my parents and see what options there are in TX and WI before my uncle's proposed deadline.

Well that's kind of a rant, I guess. But bare with me. I just needed to vent my frustration. And it is frustrating, I assure you. Thanks for listening.....um....reading.

Well, I just finished another doodle in oc 1.1, so I guess I'll post that. I need to get working on Bonus Level's stuff too, now that I have the tablet situation fixed.

Hey all!

I just got a new Wacom Intuos 3 because I couldn't stand it anymore. My justification: at the moment I have very few living expenses and I'll probably never have to get another tablet again. So there.

It truly is as good as everyone says it is. I love it and can't wait to use it some more.

So, I went to go see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra this evening at the Meyerson Symphony Center here in Dallas. It was incredible! They played the first six of Brahm's Hungarian Dances, Liszt's Piano Concerto no. 1, and Bela Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin suite, which was really quite scary. That may not mean anything to you, but as far as I'm concerned, it was a very well spent $23.

Well it's late so I'd better hit it, but I wish good drawing to everyone!

Hello all!

Oh my! I'm turning into one of those....

...coffee shop people!

Yes, I've become addicted to Starbucks. I go to work in the morning for an hour or two, (my hours are mostly at night) then I make a beeline for Starbucks down the road and chill with my laptop and sketchpad for hours.

I sit, sip, draw, write, play, and sip and sit some more and have a totally wonderful time. Even though I'm downing loads of caffeine (hopefully not too much, my wallet isn't that thick ;] ) the atmosphere is oddly relaxing. The warm, earthy colors of the walls and tables, the sweet aroma of frothy lattes brewing behind the counter, the friendly giggles and horseplay of the employees (who, strangely enough, always seem to be having a good time on the job). It all comes together in a wonderful little package, which only costs you about $4.00 if you're like me (I'm a venti cafe mocha person). ;]

What a tirade!

In other news, my stinky tablet won't work on this new laptop of mine. It's probably vista's fault, but it could be that this tablet is old, moldy, and about to croak anyway.

Which means, until I get a new tablet, there'll be no more coloring or digital sketches. T_T I know, I'm really sad too, but everything must end right? Or at least need an upgrade. It kidna stinks, tho, cuz tablets cost money! A lot of money. All I need is a 6x8 wacom. But even that'll run me at least $300.00! I'm having a dilemma. I'd appreciate any help on the subject! Like a place that sells tablets at rock bottom prices, maybe?

In other other news, I'm going to post my collections here in my journal regularly so you guys can check out the art I like. There's some awesome art here, ya know. ;D

Hey all!

Long time no see.

Well, I've been offline for almost a week cuz the computer I've been using caught a virus. I wiped it clean and put a fresh installation of XP on it, but I have no clue how to set up the wireless adapter, so no internet even if I wanted it. I'll leave that to its owner. ;]

However, I just got my new laptop from NEWEGG, an awesome Acer Aspire 6930, with some excellent features, specs, and Vista Home Premium, so I'm good now.

Not to mention really really really REALLY happy. XD

Arg, I need to get in gear with my art. I don't have a set place like a desk where I live right now for all my stuff (scanner, computer, art supplies, etc.) but I need to get something figured out. As for actually drawing, I've been sketching a little when I hang out at Barnes and Nobles in my off time from work. I need to do it more, and maybe bring my tablet there too so I can get some coloring in for Bonus Level Studios. Sorry guys!

Besides, I can't let up in my art or my skills will go NOWHERE, so keep me encouraged guys!

Hello all,

It's been a little while since I've posted anything here, but I thought it good to do so now.

I've moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas for several months to work for my Uncle's vending machine business. It's hard but it's good work and I need the money.

As for the art, it's been a little slow lately and will likely continue thus until things get a little more settled and I get a routine going (it takes me a while to adapt to big changes like these. -_-)

I haven't been drawing as much lately, mostly because this job o' mine keeps making me so tired! And in my leisure time I often turn to the piano, because it's so enjoyable.

However, I'm working on a couple drawings, and trying the watercolor thing again. I probably won't be doing a lot (if any) digital stuff till I can get myself a laptop and can do it in my room. Right now, the only computer is in the biggest, most public space in our house, and it doesn't really get me in the mood for art. :[ So for now, it's watercolor time, because I can do it in the privacy of my own room, with music blasting away. I've been listening to more and more classical music. Even while I'm driving around for work (I'm a courier), I got it tuned to good ol' 90.5 KUAT!

I listened to Dvorak's 7th Symphony the other day, and put it on my classical wishlist.

Whoa. Totally geeked out there for a second...

In other news, I really hope the weather gets a little nicer soon! It's been blistering hot ever since the monsoons died down. And they weren't that alive to begin with. :[ I guess that's what you get for living in the middle of a desert. ;]

Well, I had a great (but really busy) weekend and now I'm booking to get these sketches done for

In other news, I am now 19 years old, and though I'm supposed to feel something, I...just...um, don't? ;] I guess you kinda get stuck in that "I'm never going to get past 18" kind of mindset of contentedness. It was kind of nice for a while.... Oh well, on to new and increasingly more awesome things!

Speaking of which, I've decided to try something new, and I bought some watercolors, watercolor paper, and a couple india ink pens. I always like to see some of these manga artists doing their stuff with watercolor. It's such a nice, airy feel, and so I decided to give it a try! Wish me luck!

P.S. The monsoon season just ended, and Arizona just died. Again.

It's been pleasantly stormy as of late, with our THIRD rain here at our Arizona house this monsoon season. And we've really only had ONE actual monsoon. :[

My mom got caught in a fierce storm system the other day, which stirred up a dust storm that preceded it. Wild stuff goin' on here in the desert.

I've got to draw more! I find that I get inspired to draw the more time I spend here on DA, so perhaps I'll try to do just that! ;D Everybody take care and keep up the good art!

It's been a long time since I've updated this thing. Wow.

Just got back from my church's summer camp, where I served as assistant dance instructor. It was a blast! We taught the foxtrot and East Coast swing, which is my absolute favorite dance. Even though the ages of the campers were mixed from 14-18, it worked out really well! This was my 7th year at camp, and first as staff. What a blast.

As for drawing, I've been doing that too, but not quite as much lately because of camp. Lots of preparation. I'll be leaving again Sunday for 2 weeks in Mississippi visiting the ol' relatives. It ought to be fun. And hot. I'll try to get in some drawing while I'm there. Did I mention it'll be hot?

Speaking of which, we just entered into the monsoon season here in Tucson, so WOOT!!!

I finished Star Wars: Vector Prime and Dark Tide: Onslaught, so now I'm a third of the way through Dark Tide: Ruin. Such good books! I love reading star wars novels. I'm such a geek! >_<

Hello all! So sorry I haven't been very active lately. I am working on a couple pieces even as you read this, but lately I've been doing other things away from deviant art, so slap me silly and let's get back to business! X_X

For all you musicians out there, I've been playing piano for about a year now, since I taught myself last summer, and am now learning "the piece". You know, ever musician has "the piece" that took them a long time to learn because it's really hard and some genius wrote it last century and now it's in every classical music CD in existence. Mine happens to be Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor.

It's really hard but it's really fun too! My favorite piece to play, however, will always be For Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven. Such a beautiful piece of musical literature. In my opinion one of the prettiest.

I've been tired lately, probably cuz' I'm staying up too late drawing! Maybe I should draw more during the day. I've always been a night owl, though. I've never wanted to go to sleep. But I do. ^-^

Anyway, this tiredness is eating into my motivation, but I'm pulling through. I've completed the pencil for another piece I want to color, and this time I'm going to try cell shading it. As far as experimenting goes, I've come to the conclusion that I need to do more digital art, which is one thing I'm still not totally accustomed to, and something I'd really like to do more. I don't know, sometimes the allure of drawing with a pencil is stronger than with a tablet, but I'll slap myself more if I have to...

I'm currently figuring out prices and such for doing commissions, which I hope to start at least around the beginning of April, so wish me luck! In the meantime, keep drawing!

Well, it's Spring, I guess, and whoopdeedoo! >:[

I, for one, could stand another year's worth of winter... I'm not exactly looking forward to Arizona's hot spring and summer. :[

Meanwhile, I've posted several sketches I've done for Bonus Level, which they liked, but I'll be sketching a good bit more in the meantime. I've once again reached the plateau. Where I've progressed in my art to where I feel comfortable, which means I need to stretch, and try new things.

I just don't really know what.

I may start experimenting with different stylization techniques. I feel my anatomy is too "realistic" for me. I mean, sure it has to be realistic to a point, or else it's too unbelievable. But I want to make it more stylistic, so I'll be experimenting.

En otras noticias... I want to start doing commissions soon, but I don't yet know what to do about making prints of any digital work, and then how to ship them. I was thinking doing digital work through DA prints, but that would be expensive for the client, so I'll ask around in the forum. Any help or tips you have would be great! Can't wait! ^-^

I thought, since you've all been watching me for some time, it'd be interesting to let you all know a bit about me and my artistic history.

I was born in Pasadena, California in '89, so technically, I'm an 80's child! ^_^ And no, just because I'm an artist born in California doesn't mean I'm a hippie!

Anyway, from there we moved to Mississippi to live with my grandparents after my sister was born, then we moved to Arkansas, where we lived for several years. And a little over a year ago, we moved here to Arizona! What a change!

I've always been into scifi and fantasy and that all started with none other than STAR WARS. Yes, I am a star wars nut. Always have been, always will be.

After star wars came the novels of star wars, then the Redwall series, then Lord of the Rings (movies then books), and now Eragon and Eldest (looking forward to book 3!).

Around the age of 15, I began getting serious about art. Before, I had drawn a lot, mostly of characters for my book I was writing (and still am), and my sister and I took art classes for a few years in Arkansas. Ms. Ironside was our teacher, and I tribute a lot of my artistic inclination to her. We learned a lot from her classes. Anyway, I wanted to do conceptual art for games and movies as a career, and so started really trying to ramp up my skills.

Well, after a few twists and turns, and a few years, here I am -- a totally hardcore artist, who's still learning new things and still drawing up a storm!

In other news, while capturedspy's going to Saboten-con, I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival this past weekend with my sister and our friend's family. Boy was it amazing! Huzzah! We took all Sunday to meander up and down in the "town" they had set up. It was absolutely amazing. I wore a tunic, and my sister concocted a homely dress and bonnet, so we played the part. My blue jeans may have given me away, though. ;] It was an awesome day, with turkey legs, music, jousting and merriment had by all!

Well, I haven't worked on drawing anything since I finished Jeiyla, (slaps self) which is horrible! I need to keep drawing. Meanwhile, I'd love to see some new drawings by my watchers! Get crakkin'! ;]

I've been working a lot on trying to learn more web code in order to work on my parent's business site, and it's so overwhelming. I've learned HTML, XHTML, CSS, and now I'm going through Javascript, thanks to the good folks at the World Wide Web Consortium Schools. I should get one of their HTML certificates just in case I go into that field at all. Anyway, it's taking a pretty nice chunk out of my day, and I wish I could learn it all faster (I want to try to learn some of the other more common codes after JScript). Well, that's all folks! I haven't posted anything since the pose refs earlier, but I informed decembersecret that I was working on a sketch which I would try to color. God willing, I will. I've finished the blue pencil sketch, and am going to try to do the rest in Photoshop. Wish me luck! I haven't actually finished a color job on PS to date, but I really want to crank this one out. So as it may take a while, I'll probably draw in the meantime. Hopefully it won't. But anyway, thought I'd inform you all.

I was kind of bummed out since I finished Sniper Lady because it seemed I was fresh out of ideas. I want to make drawings that are more fantastical and conceptual, and just "out there" so I'm working on one now. It seems I just needed inspiration. Well, I guess I still need it... :]

My little brother is wanting to learn to draw! My little sis' bought him a Marvel Drawing Kit which has all the steps and stuff to draw the superheroes and all. Cool stuff. (wish I had had that when I was his age...) But he's learning how to sketch the pose with a stick figure and then flesh it out. He's still got a lot to learn with the fleshing out part...

He's on his way...too bad my other lil sis doesn't want to draw. She's content with me and my older little sister drawing for her.

Well, the computer's back to normal and I'm happy.

Meanwhile, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a few faves and comments mere seconds after posting art today! (check it out, by the way!) It was awesome!

Well, we got a trojan virus the other day. The stupid anti-virus didn't help at all and I had to reformat the computer... *sigh* So I've spent all day reconfiguring and reinstalling drivers, programs, and whatnot.

In other news, I think this is the first time we've had our step siblings over and I didn't get a commission from my little brother! So he went to my sister... I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

It was very enlightening. I have to admit, though, I'm a little freaked out about it. Only one more year of high school, and then ART SCHOOL!!!! *shivers*

My only concern is eventually drawing the nude figure. This is something that not only am I uncomfortable with, but is also against my religious beliefs! That may sound silly with me being an artist and all, but I hope I can get with the teacher and work something out... Any tips or suggestions by those who have dealt with this would be helpful!

I think I'm finally getting back into the scheme of things since my two week hiatus from drawing a month or two ago... I've whipped up several drawings in a short amount of time, a few I've posted, one I've held back because I'm in the process of coloring it (pray hard).

I'm really glad that my skills seem to be improving. Especially with eyes and hair, my two most difficult challenges! This last drawing (the one I'm coloring) proved to be the easiest drawing I've done in a while.
Not to mean there's nothing to it, but it was fun!

We just got back from Branson a few days ago, and we're all really tired! We saw some amazing sights though on the way to and from, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!

Unfortunately, I haven't drawn this entire time! 0_o Well, I'll just have to get back into the groove...

I hope you've all had a great couple of weeks, and can't wait to get back into the scheme of things!

Well, those three pieces I promised has been narrowed down to two...maybe. I haven't been working AS HARD on my artwork recently, and I need to get back into the groove! >

In the meantime, we're all getting ready to leave for a couple weeks to Branson, MO! Hopefully, I'll have two or three sketches for you all to see when we get back!

I'm currently working on 3 pieces at the moment. One, a digital work called Ame, should be interesting once it's finished. I'm also working with a rough sketch on photoshop right now, hopefully it'll be done soon. And thirdly, I'm coming up with fantasy versions of my three siblings and myself (all in all, there's 4 of us, my little brother and two little sisters). That ought to turn out well!

I realize that in a few weeks, our beloved (and at the same time hated) summer will come to a close, ushering in (hopefully) that cool and breezy time we call Autumn. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of the heat around here!

My sister drew me a birthday drawing yesterday. She came to me, pencil lead smeared all over her face, and presented me with a visage of a mighty warrior...with a smallish head. My name was in the corner. What a handsome man I'd be in all that armor...ahem, but I digress. It was an excellent drawing. My sister's getting better and better.

It's been a while, I know! I've been busy lately, and barely able to get to my computer with my parents doing business stuff on it all the time. Between school, piano and leisure time...there's barely any time for art! O.o

Well, I gotta make time! *smacks self* I really want to try to improve my photoshop skills, but I really don't know where to start! I want to get better at coloring and painting though.

On a happier note, I got a crit for one of my deviations--"Adia". So that's always cool. I need to just make myself draw. As I always (well, often) say...¡

Well, I've been drawing more lately, working on improving my Photoshop skills as well as pencil. I've decided that I'm not really going to pursue ink drawing anymore, since my skills with it have not really improved and I don't really enjoy it. Instead, I'm going to focus on pencil and digital art. If anyone has any critiques of my work so far or has any suggestions for how I can improve my art, please let me know!

I'm soon going to post a colored version of Autumn, so be sure to check that out when I do! ^_^

My little brother wants me to draw someone with a bow and arrow (he's nine) and so I'll try to draw that.

I just realized it's August! Wow...

I got a couple of shinais (bamboo practice swords) for my sister and I to fence with today from the local Chivalry Sports store. Yeah. Not bad either. Just thought I'd tell you since swordplay is more an art than a sport when you think about it...

Watched Hero (Jet Li) this afternoon. I've been inspired to draw something with an oriental feel to it. Haven't really done that before...I'll get back to you on that! In the meantime, it's bedtime again! Ay carumba! Tengo que ir...hasta maÃ±ana!
