Never did I ever expect that a storm would ever be named after.....lil' ol' me??!!

LOL! I've never heard of anything like this before! This is really the coolest thing ever, heh-heh!

Apparently, it started out as Tropical Storm Ida in the afternoon of Wed, Nov. 4th, in the Central America region, hitting Nicaragua first. It upgraded to Category 1 Hurricane Ida in the morning of Thurs. Nov. 5th, and lasted for a few hours like that. But then it went back down to a tropical storm, and (as I write this), I think it's down at tropical depression level currently.

But this storm is not over yet (I freakin' hope not, anyway!

Next, I wanted to talk to you guys about a very cool and fun idea I thought up yesterday. I've seen many icon families throughout DA over the years....and so I was thinking how ultra-cool it would be to create a Bakermonium icon family!

I would take the nine little Bakermonium character icons from the top of this journal here [link] , and turn them into 50x50 DA icons. Then, along with myself (as the LaToya icon, because she's the leader of the gang), I would find eight other people here in DA to be the icons of the other eight kids. In all of our journals, we would post the icons of our Bakermonium family. And in our signatures, we would add in this sentence and link: "My icon is (character's name) from Bakermonium! [link] " This would be a very fun way to not only promote my Bakermonium series, but also for us to advertise our DA pages in each other's journals, too!

So would any of you guys be interested in participating in this project?? Let me know what character you'd want to be (Lakeisha, Khadijah, Miko, Benny, Johann, Chad, Pedro, or Marianne) just in case this project ends up happening. The only way this project can happen is if I have EIGHT other people join me! So come on guys--join me and let's be a Bakermonium family!

Yep...six years old. Not many have achieved this feat of staying on one DA account for so long...especially staying active on the account for the entire length of those six years. So...I think itÂs quite cool. Or is it? Well, I dunno.

Anyways, I just want to give warm, tremendous thanks to everyone who has visited this quiet, dinky little corner of the gi-normous DA world over the past six years. Thanks very much for all your feedback, favs, watches, and general support.

Before I signed up here, I used to be only a lurker for a while. But I'm very glad that I finally did make that decision to officially sign up to DA.

I started out on DA as a fan of the PBS cartoon Arthur [link] , and made Arthur fanart. (That's why my username is "dw-divastar"...D.W. is the name of Arthur's little sister, and she was my favorite character back when I was an Arthur fan.) Then, when I discovered Badtz-Maru [link] (my favorite character in the Sanrio/Hello Kitty world), I switched to making lots of Badtz-Maru and Sanrio fanart. Nowadays (since the second-half of 2006), I have decided to stop doing fanart altogether in favor of developing and doing artwork of my own cartoon series, Bakermonium [link] .

And that's my artwork history on DA so far.

I want to give a warm, tremendous thanks to everyone who has been watching, commenting, faving, and supporting my stuff over the last five years. Activity and pageview rate on my DA page has always been very low and very quiet the entire time I've been here...and so I'm always extremely happy and grateful for the few people that do visit my page each year, and give me any little amount of attention and feedback on my stuff. I'll happily and humbly take whatever I can get.

Thanks very much again, folks, for your support and friendship!

I've actually had the idea for this series in my head for a long time....but I've done very little with it so far because I spend so much more time with Bakermonium (my more serious project of the two). But I'd like to change that soon and start some actual serious work with my other series idea.

I don't have an official title for this series yet, but to describe it in a nutshell, it stars two wealthy, bright 10-year-old kids who are amateur detectives. The bold and confident boy's name is Nico, and his sweet, cheerful girlfriend is Bijou. So far, the only drawings I've ever done of them are these concept sketches here:

Now, unlike my Bakermonium series, which is in a western cartoon drawing style (a style I can do).......I'd like my Nico & Bijou series to be in anime/manga style (a style I can't do). I tried to draw them in anime style in my sketches....but I didn't pull it off. Or rather, I don't like my results.

This is where you anime/manga artists come in.

I'm currently writing a comic story in script form starring my two young detectives. It's a relatively short story....a mini-mystery where Nico and Bijou help a young girl find her stolen birthday money. I'm the writer in this collab project.....and once I'm done writing the script, I would absolutely *LOVE* (read it three times.....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) to have a highly talented anime artist (or maybe more than one?) turn my story into a visual manga or comic!

Talented like

for instance: I asked her to do a commission for me some time ago...an anime-style pic of Nico and Bijou. She drew it, and it turned out absolutely *outstanding*.....very *gorgeous!*

Sooooooooooo.....if your anime style is sort of similar to that, if you're interested in helping out in my project, and if you have some free time this summer, then PLEASE volunteer here by leaving a post in this journal!

Leave me links to examples of your anime drawings or manga pages, so I know exactly how you draw. Everyone who volunteers....I'll give them a *one-month* journal feature of three of their artworks, just for volunteering! And then, for the person (or more than one person?) I actually end up choosing to be the manga artist for this project......I will give them a *PERPETUAL* (yes, that means forever and ever

) journal feature of three of their artworks....AND they can change what artworks of theirs are featured at anytime. (I hardly use my journals for anything else....so why not a perpetual journal feature? LOL.

2) I also decided to take the five Bkmn cards I've made so far, and blow them up to twice their original size. I've always been wondering for some time if maybe they were too small or something, and people would like to see them in a larger size. You can go back to those five Bkmn card pics now and click on them to see a larger size of them (or click the "Download" button to see a larger size of them). Do they look better larger, or does the larger size make them look too pixelated/blurry? Please tell me what you think.

3) I recently got two new giftarts to add to the Bkmn giftart list!

Waaaahhhooooo!!

A few days ago at the Thumbshare Forums, I met a very nice friend named

. He liked my art enough that out of the blue, to my hugest surprise ever, he offered to buy me a one month subscription! It was extremely kind of him to do, and I thank him very tremendously for that.

There has been only one other time that I got a free subscription....and that was back during the time that DA was handing out free one-week subscriptions to all its members (I got mine in May 4, 2005). Back then, though, I didn't take enough advantage of the subscription....plus, it was only one week long anyway. But now, with a whole month of subscription I have here, I want to take much more advantage of the subscription features. Starting with........my very first JOURNAL FEATURE!

As you may or may not know, there is a cartoon series I came up with recently, just two or three years ago....so I don't have that much artwork of them yet. I call the series Bakermonium ("Baker" and "pandemonium" put together).....you can learn all about my premise for the series, and read the bios of the Baker Sisters and their six best friends in the series, by clicking on the pics below:

As I try to find the time to make more of my own Bakermonium artwork (I'm currently working on two artworks simultaneously), check out the super-cool Bakermonium giftart made by fellow DA members! I absolutely love to see different renditions of my characters drawn by different, talented artists...they're very great and amusing to see! I asked for requests from these people (mostly through the Projects forum on DA) to draw some of my characters if they were interested. I used to be a super-huge fan of the show back in the day.

Giant kudos to anybody who still remembers the show. Although I don't usually like to upload unfinished pics (nobody looks at Scraps, LOL....and plus, I just like finished pictures so much better), I was greatly inspired to upload this pic anyway, because of the recent discovery I made here of someone who became the very first person in DA to actually submit Puzzle Place fanart here! [link] [link] Too awesome of a discovery!

I wanted to be at least the second person in DA to submit something Puzzle Place-related....and so I did.

Other than that........not much else happening with me artwise. I'm currently working on one very huge Bakermonium group picture on the GIMP paint program (my Bakermonium series explanation here: [link] ).......but it'll take me forever to finish it, because of the tons of watercoloring and high details it has in it, because I draw slowly, and also because of school. I'm also simultaneously working on a smaller Bakermonium group picture on the oekaki....but that'll take me a long time to finish, too, mostly because of school.

Hi-dee-hoo, folks. From Dec. 22 to Jan. 26, I was off on winter break.....during that whole month, I was vacationing at home, and had practically zero computer access at home. That's why I was unable to be here and check on DA during all that time. For any of you who left me comments, favs, and/or watches during my winter break, I'm so sorry that I was unable to reply to your comments and thank you right away. It was only when I got back to school (Jan. 26) that I was *finally* able to check my DA account. THANK YOU SO MUCH all of you who left me comments, favs, and/or watches during my vacation. I read all of your comments, and I'm very happy and grateful that you liked everything you saw! Your feedback is always very well appreciated!

I'll be here on and off during this spring semester, if I can find the time. I submitted a new picture....the final three friends of my Bakermonium cartoon series. You can find out all about my cartoon series and the characters in it by looking at my three latest pictures in my gallery, and reading all the descriptions I wrote about the show and the characters. While searching for something completely different (Badtz-Maru fanart) on Japanese fansites today.....by complete accident I find one of THE most awesome, coolest, MAJOR XO-related things I have ever seen!!

I have absolutely never heard of FIBA before, until today......it's an international basketball association. This year, FIBA will be holding their World Championship tournament games in August 2006. It seems to be a World Cup for basketball (I've heard of World Cup Soccer before (FIFA)....but not World Cup Basketball (FIBA)! LOL, you learn something new everyday.

). There are 24 teams from all over the world who have qualified to compete in the tourney later this summer. And they're not high school or college teams....these world teams are made up of real professional league players (like Yao Ming, Kobe Bryant, etc.)!

But blah, who cares about any of that?! Guess......who......gets........to......be.......the......mascot...

I think this news just came out today......someone at the Kittyrealm message board (link to the board is in my sig....you have to register (free) and sign up first before you can get access to the board) posted this Yahoo news article:

Sanrio is making a new TV series! It's going to be a claymation.....called Hello Kitty, Stamp Village. It will star several popular mainline Sanrio characters. Including.....what is the single BEST part of this news for me........BADTZ-MARU!!!!!!! Yaaaaaayyyy!!!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!! Yeeeaaahhh, that's what I'm talkin' about!!!!!

LOL.....it's not like I haven't been here in a long time....I visit my page almost everyday. It's just that I just come here mostly to submit my artwork.....I can never think of anything to write in my journal.....I'm just not a very talkative/gossipy person.

DA has now added subcategories to their Fanart, Cartoons, and Comics sections. So if you have artwork in any of those categories, don't forget to change their categories so you can put them in a more specific subsection under Fanart, Cartoons, or Comics. That's what I spent my time doing today.

Well, ummm.....I guess that's it for now. Happy Valentine's Day (tomorrow as I write this) to everyone. On that day, I get to change my age on my profile......wheeee.

Also......lemme know if you like the FOX TV drama 24......I loooovvvveee that show......awesome, awesome adrenaline-rush drama!

Born to Sanrio on April Fools' Day (go figure! ^_^ ) in 1993, today marks his 12th anniversary. Yessirreeee.....exactly one dozen years of being bad, having cool attitude, and raising all sorts of heck in Sanrio with his wild and mischevious ways!

I hope Sanrio.com does something for his birthday tomorrow.......in 2003, they celebrated with the super-cute XO fake-can label! And...I don' t think they did anything last year...I don't remember.

I've shifted my focus now to making Badtz-Maru...comics! Yes...I'll be putting the bad bird and his friends in short and funny lil' situations.

They're mini-comics...each will be only a page long.

They will certainly take a while for me to make, since I'll be filling up a full 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper with several picture panels...and dialogue, too! So it'll be some time before my gallery is updated again.

BADTZ-MARU WESTERN MERCHANDISE NEWS:

Badtz-Maru's new ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) line is now out (it came out in mid-September). It's a very cool and cute line---I love it! Check it out here at the Sanrio.com shop: [link]

The Badtz-Maru Square line came out in April of this year. In my opinion, it's an okay line, but not as good as the ATV line. You can check out the Square stuff here: [link]

Anyways, just wanted to tell you all that I'm now adding scraps into my Scraps folder. These are old B&W drawings of Badtz-Maru and his friends that I did a long time ago---back in 2003. You will see how much MAJOR DIFFERENCE there is between my 2003 drawings and my 2004 drawings. I've improved a whole lot since last year. Practice makes perfect.

Ah well...better late than never.)

Hi there...and welcome to my Deviantart homepage! My page is mostly a shrine to my #1 favorite Sanrio character, Badtz-Maru!

He is a very cool and cute penguin, and there is not nearly enough fanart of him on Deviantart or anywhere else on the Internet. So I'll be making a bunch of fanart of him and his two friends. If you love him as much as I do (or if you love Sanrio in general), be sure to devwatch me!

(Sanrio is the Japanese company that makes Hello Kitty stuff, plus stuff of many other characters (like Badtz-Maru)).

I also have my old Arthur fanart here. I used to be a super-huge fan of Arthur (a PBS cartoon), but I'm not that huge on the show anymore...so I don't do any more Arthur fanart. But I still generally like it enough that I will tune in to all the new Arthur shows/specials/movies that will come in the future. So if you're an Arthur fan, go check out my Arthur stuff in my gallery.
