Babakan Siliwangi is a city forest that’s declared as World City Forest by UNEP on 2011.
Unfortunately, the management of this forest is given to private company, and there’s a plan to change 20% of the forest into
restaurant (or some other commercial building).

Our local communities are trying to prevent that by organizing events in Babakan Siliwangi.

This was taken in Kilinkere, Co. Cavan when a direct descendant of Sitting Bull visited the memorial to General Philip H. Sheridan ( to lay a wreath of peace )who fought in the Indian Wars against the Native Americans and was responsible for the deaths of many of them, one of his better known sayings is "The only good Indian is a dead Indian" I can not remember the name of the lady or her daughter but it has always been one of my favourite images from my days with the now defunct Cavan Leader Newspaper

In March 2013 International Animal Rescue Indonesia, together with government conservation staff, rescued four orangutans from forest in Indonesian Borneo that was being bulldozed to make way for oil palm. The company involved, Bumitama Gunajaya Agro, is a member of the RSPO and cleared the forest in violation of the body's statutes. IAR Indonesia urged the company to stop clearing the forest to allow time to rescue other orangutans stranded in pockets of forest, at risk of starvation.

the dalai lama came to paris today, and this morning he met the tibetan community in a hotel. She is a tibetan woman.

this is not a set up, she sat on this couch and i had noticed how this place could be a photogeneic spot... so when she sat i asked her if i could take a photo and she held the baby next to her face, smiling, i took a few shots and turned around, and when i looked back again she was in that position, so i took another photo.

Irulas are a scheduled tribe of India and present in various parts of India, but are mainly located in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.

So I went to the church again but this time there were baptizing babies in mass. I don't know why babies could be baptized in mass, but that was what was happening there. So I was lucky!!!

Cancer Awareness

My 9-year-old puppy, two days after she went through her second mastectomy. She was waiting to be cleaned before I put her surgical clothes. That was her third surgery regarding to cancer (and the last one, I hope).
That happened because I had no idea that if i sterilized her before her first or second heat, she would probably NEVER get cancer. Unfortunately it's not divulged in my country;there are no campaigns about it. Shame on that.

Two month short for his retirement, after 45 years on the job, is being
challenged to make a leather half case for my X100.
After handing my camera, some prints from www and a model (that I made from
the box of a cereal box and that you can see it on the right, with the lens
in black), and after hearing my dissertation about how it must look and
work he started drawing... in the page of an old Yellow Pages, yellowed by
time.

With the aim of shooting some Scottish Landscapes in dynamic weather I started my trip to Great Britain in mid-November and traveled for about 5 weeks trough the country. My journey took me from the south coast of England via Northumberland to Scotland. In Scotland I traveled from the Isle of Skye to Caithness, Torridon and Assynt. Photographed on a chilly Autumn morning in Estes Park Colorado at Lake Estes, we were photographing the sunrise when all of the sudden we heard bugling across the lake and the next thing we know he hopped in and started to swim over. I got the car as fast as I could and grabbed my 200-400 and started shooting. What a scene! The light was hitting parts of the lake as the fog was lifting and here he was coming out with water dripping off him. Excited? Is German beer good? lol

Well it's been a long week. A long week without my MP-E 65mm Canon macro lens.
Without a doubt, I knew it was defective so I had to send it back.
Today it finally returned and I immediately see the difference in quality.
For my first shot with my reuniting beauty, I found this Junebug peaking over a leaf very still.

Antarctic beech stand draped in hanging moss, simply phenomenal.

This is a surreal dreamland of international and national significance for its biological and landscape values.
It was listed on the World Heritage register in 1986 in recognition of its outstanding universal value to science and conservation, in particular the importance of the area as a refugium that has allowed the survival and evolution of rainforest species over geological time.
Just wandering along the tracks you get a real feel for being over in the US, strolling through the Oregon forests.

Just months after the Israeli assault that killed 1,390 Palestinians, I visited Gaza. Among dozens of painful stories I heard, one family stood out. I spent several days with Kamal and Wafaa Awajah, playing with their children, sleeping in the tent they were living in, and filming their story.
