What has killed over one thousand people in the past 31 years and will eventually kill over three thousand more? The answer? The death penalty, the most useless punishment the United States of America’s government can offer. There are three major flaws with this punishment; there is a possibility you can punished the falsely accused, it’s highly expensive, and it’s a cruel and unusual punishment. The death penalty is one of the worst punishment and its slowly losing its popularity. Hopefully soon enough it will be nonexistent.
Possibility of Falsely Accused
The death penalty has several severe problems. One of the main ones being the possibility of executing a falsely accused. Ryan declared the system “so fraught with error it has become close to the ultimate nightmare, the state taking an innocents life”. There have been several instances in the past where the state has killed an innocent man. These normally result in lawsuits from the family of the person killed.
As previously stated, states falsely imprisoning and sentencing an innocent man can lead to drastic consequences. Normally being legal action involving the state. This normally leads to the government losing thousand, possibly millions of dollars. Another problem is when DNA testing comes to late and the innocent is already killed. “It also discusses the continuing risk of executing the innocent, as highlighted by the found prisoners released from death row on the ground of innocence” (Litvinsky).Several individuals on multiple occasions have been released on grounds of innocence.
Also, falsely accusing individuals of horrible crimes can lead to other outcomes. Such as those individuals being traumatized. As mentioned by Steidl “If you really want to kill someone, give them life without parole, it’s worse than death”. By prisoners being traumatized this can lead to multiple outcomes. Normally mental illness which can me insanity, schizophrenia, or mental retardation. Those who go insane may actually commit crimes. So why take a chance with false accusations? Abolish the punishment altogether.
Expensive
The death penalty is an unnecessary waste of money. “It’s a waste of time and money, the only thing it does is prolong the agony of the victims family” (McCartin). Its actually much cheaper to give prisoners a life sentence that to give them the death penalty. The amount of money its takes to hire extra lawyers (ones with specific experience), security costs, DNA testing and finally the cost of the execution. All of this can add up to tens of millions.
In our current economical crisis we have no room for this kind of stuff. We should spend this amount of money on more pressing matters such as schools.”An uncommon marriage between eastern liberals and western conservatives, built on economic hardships” (Hastings). Our economy should be using this money for our schools, to buy new supplies, books, also larger pay for teachers. Everything a school needs we can buy, only if we abolish the death sentence.
The main reason states are dropping the death penalty is due to cost. “In 2007 time and money became the reason New Jersey be came the first state to ban executions since the reinstatement in 1976” (Hastings). The time and money involved with the death penalty is completely unnecessary. With more and more states the dropping the death penalty is proving all this.
Cruel and Unusual
The death penalty is an incredibly cruel and unusual punishment. In the United States there are five forms of the death penalty. The lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, hanging, and the firing squad methods. All of these cause massive amounts of pain. “The death penalty is the ultimate cruel and inhuman and degrading punishment. Beheading, electrocutions, hangings, lethal injections, shootings, and stoning have no place in the 21st century” (Khan). The death penalty is a cruel punishment and has no place in the 21st century; we have evolved past to have to solve murders with more deaths.
The death penalty is often not even considered a punishment, but an act of murder. “The death penalty is the premeditated and cold blooded killing of a human being by the state in the name of “justice” ” (Duckworth). The death penalty is cruel and unnecessary. Over one thousand people have been killed from it, some innocent. Do more people really need to die in this false sense of justice we have?

X: -suddenly remembers- my parents were great people, kind caring... and to think i couldnt control my angry and resist kill them...

X: already have one, and i love it

X: all respectable people and i treat them badly to keep them at a distance. After all de to mistakes in my past i wouldnt be surprised if i just dropped dead suddenly oneday

Whats with the "doctor" thing you ask my friends...
Well yesterday my dad came home and told me to get dressed so we can go buy some chiken to bake it and im like "OK!"

So i go to my room and start getting dressed when i hear a whimpering

Fun Fact: my mother did not want to beleive my dog was preggers because she thought she couldnt get preggers again

So im all like "OH FUCK... NO...NOT NOW"

I look and my dog is there with a puppy...

So i tell my dad and hes all like "OH FUCK" also

Fun Fact 2: revenge of the fun fact: The reason me and my dad where all like "OH FUCK" was because we had never deliverd a puppy before only my mom has

So i call my mom and tell her shes shocked for some reason -.-

So while i waited for her to get i had to deliver two pups

I even got to see a birth from the hind paws to the head i had to break that one out of his cull and cut the umbilical cord for the both then feed it to my dog (they have to eat it for some reason...)
