So I told you about how I got to meet some of the cast and crew on the new Narnia movie, and how I got to talk to and score a hug from Ben Barnes. Well, my friend and I dropped back by the set 2 days later and they remembered us. We got to chat again, and the location manager Gareth gave us food they were eating on set (much to the envy of onlookers). Ben recognised us aswell and came gave us another hug and photo ... this one's nicer (last time I was a little unprepared, haha) except slightly blurry. I'm a very lucky girl!

Just a quick hop on to tell you all about my awesome day. Today I went with a friend to checkout the set of the new Narnia movie which is being filmed very close to where I live. We hung out there all day and met a dozen of the cast and crew ... including Ben Barnes (Caspian) who gave me a hug, an Autograph and a picture together. There was a bunch of other awesome people I met, but he was definitely the highlight!

Half The World Away ...

In 12 hours I'll be boarding my plane here in Brisbane and will be on route to Chicago. I'm packed, ready to go ... and trying to stay up as long as I can so that I don't sleep much and am tired when I board. You know, to help me sleep on the plane which will help me adjust to the time difference. It's a nice idea, but if it's anything like last time it never goes as ideally as you want it to. Haha.

So, I'll probably have some online contact over the next month ... but it won't be daily like usual. Still be thinking of you all a bundle!

Happy 2009:

Usually every year I do a list of resolutions on here. This year has already given me so much in such a short amount of time, that I don't feel I need to make a resolutions list. Just make a wish to be happy and healthy and let the rest fall into place.

I had a pretty full-on NY's eve/day. A bit of drama and hangover at work, lol, but all in all it was definately memorable and fun! I hope you all enjoyed easing into the new year aswell!

Speaking of work, I'm writing this on my lunchbreak, as my wireless at home has been down since Christmas Eve. I've been piecing together internet from my parents UBER-SLOW computer ... which hasn't been very productive. I miss uploading artwork on here.

As a plus I have ordered a new laptop which should be in by next Monday/Tuesday. All goes to plan, I'll be back online and wireless with a new speedy machine!!!

Nostalgia ...

Sept 28th: I had a stop and began thinking about my journey on dA. At the beginning I didn't know what I was in for. I had stopped by several times, but never joined, then finally after some prompting from *swirV (who I worked with at the time) I joined and began uploading some of my scanned drawings.

As time went by, I found myself wanting to move on from simply being a traditional artist. I enjoyed what I had done, but felt like it was time to explore. Then *robertsloan2 suggested I play with a free program called Gimp ... to which THAT suggesting began a whole new line of mixed traditional and digital creations.

When my confidence increased, I found myself back in a comfortable zone but with a difference. On this plateau, I found myself ready to take on ideas and be inspired by the artists I saw around me. At this point, `nighty gave me a couple pushes and a collab to show me what was really possible. Thanks to her, I began moving on, and while lineart and gradients were still part of my work, a new passion for texture gave my next lot of pieces a new dynamic.

Frantic Emmy ...

:giggle: I've been frantically trying to catch up on my messages. I'm almost there. It's been high tention at both work and home for several weeks now, and it's just gotten a bit hard for me to handle lately. I was having trouble dealing, having nowhere to escape to and not having time to escape because of Uni work. Plus, my gorgeous little Lara ran out infront of a car. She's okay but it's costing me a bundle in vet bills. The vets were so lovely and I'm just so relieved she'll be okay. She's been staying close, see her cuteness below ...





I'll be all smiles very soon, just gotta get a handle on a few things and my heart will be back in it. Hopefully that'll mean some time for my own projects. Nothing's going to get this girl down! *stands tall and proud*

Long Overdue



July 23rd: Yes, it's a long overdue update. As you can see, last I said my brother was coming up to visit back in June, well he was here for a month and left today and it was awesome having him around. My sister and her family will be here in under 2 weeks, so I'll get to see my nephew for the first time. Yay!

I've been sick and barely out of bed over the last week. I've managed to keep up with messages as well as possible but honestly haven't really attempted any artwork. I'm tired of being tired, haha. Nevermind, hopefully by the weekend I'll be a bit more perky so that I can get some of my writing assignments done, because they're number one on my things to do list at the moment.

I've got a couple collab. projects to post too. It's nice to be able to put something new in my gallery. I feel it's been a bit neglected over this past month. I've been here all month, not submitting much myself, but mostly keeping up with everyone else and the contest entries. Big hugs to one and all!

Rebuilding.

Thankyou for all your support. I promise this will be my last edit on the subject. I'm working on myself. I think I need practice at being realistic. Having to pass up a good opportunity because it won't work wasn't easy. I cried a couple times yesturday after making the call. One or two people tried to help pick me up. I'm thankful for them. Why is it that even though you know in your head that you've made the right decision that your heart still breaks?

Have to remind myself that I'm supposed to be the cheerful one, the one who picks other people up and not the other way around. That's how it's always worked. I feel weak for needing other people. It's messed up. How can I go from being on the top of the world to sinking in the mud in the matter of a couple short days? I was literally singing one day and crying the next. Messed up.

What it came down to was my back. I've had back problems for years. It gives me all kinds of troubles. I got so caught up in the idea of this great career that I didn't think of it until my back gave out on me from doing something relatively minor. It hit me that I wouldn't be able to physically crouch or lean over people for hours doing the work. I'm also allergic to alot of metal, but if that had've been the only reason I could've worked around it. You would've thought this would have been in my head before I jumped in but it wasn't. I'm ashamed of myself for getting so carried away. Wish Me Luck.

Well it seems I've scored myself a tattoo apprenticeship at a local place. These guys are so nice. It'll be part-time, so I can continue work at the surgery but cut back (which will be good for me). I'm realistic, if it doesn't work out I've decided that I'm going to go back to doing a full-time Uni workload to try and get through my degree quicker. That's only a backup plan though. I've got alot to work towards, a lot to live up to and a lot to learn ahead of me. Wish me luck as we see how this turns out. I promise a new World Of Art article is on it's way by the weekend!

Ever Optimistic ...

I just thought, I'd do one final update on this seeing I'm feeling a bit more positive. Just to leave this on a better note as things are a bit better than they were.

Firstly, the guy who'd been giving me such a hard time eased up a bit today. I don't know if people had been talking to him or if he just felt bad or what, but (while he never appologises, in his own way, I think this was as close as it'll get) he was definately trying without actually saying anything. It's hard to describe, but I'm not so full of anger myself anymore.

Secondly, I was getting an injection today from one of the Dr's. He was worried about me after yesturday so I told him what happened. Not just yesturday, but last week too (he actually was really supportive of how I handled things). He and I devised an evil plan, we're going to remove the internet from the reception computers. Mwahahaha. lol. Actually, it's pretty funny because after I told him everything, and said "If it was up to me, this would be what I'd do ..." and he laughed and said, "Ooooh, it's so bitchy, I love it!" because he knows aswell as anyone that me doing something bitchy would normally never happen. He also told me his plans for the meeting which made me feel better too.

Finally, and maybe the most important of all, one of the girls gave me a big sheet of bubblewrap today! Oh yes, bubblewrap! They'd saved it just for me. Man, it's better than having a psychiatrist. In the spirit of tradition, each year I have logged on during New Years Eve and posted some reflections / resolutions for the coming year ... here is my resolutions list for 2008 ...

1. Keep on last years health plan.
- I did it last year, so I'm confident I can continue this again in 2008 and be just as successful.

2. Spend more time in the city.
- I failed this last year, so here's to making more of an effort to enjoy the beautiful city of Brisbane.

3. Spend more time writing.
- Endeavor to spend more time focussed on writing and commit to at least finishing my story.

4. Find new ways to relax.
- If combined with 2, I will go into the city once a fortnight to read in the botanical gardens ... nice!

Hung In A Bad Place.

Ever had one of those days where you feel a little off. Not only do you get simple things mixed up and become forgettful, but you seem to be one down on keeping up with social chit-chat? Preoccupied and tilted off-centre. Today is that day for me. lol. I'm feeling rather pathetic today, arg, I just can't snap out of it. I think it's coz I'm sleepy ... yeah, that must be it. I mean, you get all giddy and weird when you don't sleep enough right?! Then you babble and talk about stuff that really has no point or never-mind and end up looking like a weirdo ... yeah, it's definately one of THOSE days!

I think it's coz I'm trying to hard ... or not trying hard enough. I don't know. All I know is that this week I've been completely content just being at home alone, keeping up with messages and I think my friends must think I'm depressed or something coz I'm not "coming out to play". lol. If only one person out there understood me I'd be a happy girl. I usually keep my millions of thoughts to myself, and I've always wondered how people see me because of that. I'm a listener, quite content to just take it all in. I'm curious, if I'm absorbing it all but only dishing out a wise-word here and there, do I then appear to be a snob? Do they think I'm selfish for not sharing about myself the way people share themselves with me? Resolutions.

Well it's New Years Eve, so I wish all of you the best entry into 2007 and much enjoyment in the year to come. I'm spending the evening at home ... probably asleep coz I've gotta work early tomorrow morning (YAY HOLIDAY PAY RATES ... KA-CHING $$$). Was also out until 2am Friday night at clubs with friends and then was sick all last night so I wanna start the day fresh and anew ... that's my new years wish.

I've been spending most of the day relaxing, looking through old bits and pieces and just being a general lazy-assed girl. lol. Bought some stuff on e-bay and watch The X-files Movie which I hadn't watched in ages. I think tonight I'll make an attempt at finishing my Will & Grace DVD box sets so I can start 2007 with Futurama DVD's which I got for Christmas. lol. Also been thinking of making a resolutions list that I can look back on ... hmm, I might do that now!

1. Get into health-food.
I'm already a vegetarian who loves green tea so I'm half way there right?!

2. Go for a walk at least 3 times a week.
I was doing this before the holiday season, so really want to get back into the habbit.

3. Spend more time in the city.
I never seem to spend much time in the city and I love it so much.

4. Make more time for my art.

Or Merry Chrismukkah as someone said to me earlier and I love. Reminds me of Christmas on the OC!! lol.

Love you all so wanted to do a Christmas journal for all my lovelies on here! Well as my parents are German, today (Christmas Day) is just the reminants of yesturdays Christmas Eve celebrations. Even though with my brother and sister so far away and it was only me and my parents, it was still a wonderful night. All yesturday was spent cooking everything for our dinner (which mind-you, with all the left-overs will be tonights dinner and tomorrows aswell, lol). Here was our final menu that we made from scratch (the menu I ate from, as I'm vegetarian and didn't eat the meat of course):

+ Spinach & Cheese Souffles (by Mum & Me together)
+ Thai Chilli & Corriander Corn Fritta's (made by ME)
+ Corriander & Lime Mayonaise (made by ME)
+ Vegetable Puff-Pastry Pie (by Mum & Me together ... HUGE PIE!)
+ Potato's, Gravy & Red Cabbage (made by Mum)
+ Chocolate Mousse (made by Mum)
+ Sugar-Berry Sauce (made by ME)

It was soooooo good and we were all sooooo full!!! Oh man, can't wait to have more for tonight, we made so much food for only 3 of us. We didn't even get around to eating the cakes in the fridge that my parents bought. lol. Not to mention all the german chocolates and lebkuchen!!! *drools* It was wonderful.

Where Would We Be ...

... without special people like `nighty who featured my artwork as a DD today!!! Oh my gosh, I've never had a DD, I've not been this excited in ... well, a really long time!!! I give my everlasting thanks to everyone who watches me, and a huge ... no make that MAJOR huge hug to miss `nighty who is responsible for this wonderful DD on my deviation below!!



I'm just glad I cleaned up my latest crap into my scraps before it happened. Haha. What a great day this has been ... this morning I slept in, then got up and made jaffles for breakfast, and then put up the Christmas Tree and put the wrapped pressies underneath it. It looks so pretty, I love Christmas it's a great time of year regardless of if you are religious or not (because I'm not and I adore it, my favourite time of year). I just don't like the shops with the crowds ... but I combat that by doing my shopping in November and hey presto, the world is perfect again. There is only one fault in this plan ... NY's Quiz.

I'm stealling this quiz from my buddy ~martisunshine's journal, who stole it from another persons journal who ... well the list'll go on and I'd rather get on with the quiz. Thought a quiz was a nice way to sum up 2005 for me before the evening really sets in. Infact to be completely honest, right now I'd like to be sitting on a beach in the quiet alone in the dark, watching the waves as the clock ticks over ... so maybe I'll go for a walk around the corner from my parents place and do just that. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be to have the perfect guy with me ... who knows, maybe next year. :giggle: I've gotta work tomorrow so whatever I do, it's going to be small and go to sleep straight afterwards even though I've been invited out, just don't feel like it this year.
