I finally managed to update a few things on Dea Noctu so to celebrate that, have a flashback from Sun Sep 4, 2005;

Yay!!!

I started my very own webcomic! It's called Dea noctu: Luciferi, wich has got to be the lamest title ever. ^^'
Anyway, thanks for ~MagnumT on encouragement and help with the name Much appreciated.
The comic is about Angelo and bunch of other guys. I'm not going to be posting the pages on dA (or probably not ^^') so if you wan't to see whats on with the comic you better check it out.

I'm not sure what will come out of this project, but I figured it would be a nice way to keep me drawing regularly and to try out stuff like screentones.

Oh well, I hope you'll check it out and I hope you'll like it!

I started playing WoW again, and man, I really suck at it. I'm not much of a gamer anyway, plus I have the memory of a goldfish - I keep forgetting my quest items in the bank and getting lost. So what else is new?

Our appartment got invaded by ants. It's freaky, they just appeared out of nowhere

We've never had any ants before, but now there's plenty.

I fucking hate ants.

I really do.

I know they don't really do anything (the kind we have here don't even bite), but I just hate hate hate ants. It's all thanks to a boring childhood trauma.

I also have a flu, and I'm really tired. I just want to get some sleep, but if I sleep during day I wont get any sleep at night. And I need to be really tired to tonight to get any sleep because I have to go to a doctor tomorrow (not because of the flu and it's nothing serious, but don't ask, I'd rather not tell) and doctors make me nervous. And when I'm nervous I get no sleep.

Also, I'm trying to start my own business as an illustrator and there's a shitload of paperwork to be done... huh, STRESSSSSS!!! ARGH!!!

Remember the comic contest, that I talked about a while back?
Well, I saw the results today. I would've expected to see more familiar names on the top but, from what I know of the winners, the competition was pretty tough.

Well, as you might have guessed, I didn't even come close to winning it (I didn't even make it to the anthology they're going to publish).

Anyway, I learned a few things from the experience!

1. Have enough time to sketch.

2. Have a plot.

3. Have enough time to ink.

4. Do not waste time watching anime when you're supposed to work on the comic.

5. If the contest rules state that you must enter on an alias, it's probably best not to use the nick you use everywhere online

I curse at my stupidness, but then again, I did try.
Next time I'll just have to try a bit harder.

The first one is Ichigo's and Ishida's voice actors (from the anime Bleach) singing a duet. It amuses me greatly, as Ishida's voice actor (seiyuu or wth it's called in japanesesese) apparently also is Sasuke's voice in Naruto. And the song was used in some Naruto AMV and there was a bunch of kiddos going OMG Sasuke's voice is so hawt, he must so hawt. Eh, the guy looks like a hobbit.

Well, of course, there are those who think hobbits are hot. Not saying they aren't

My old one died on me this morning... Bye bye phone, you served me well ;_;

The new one is a Samsung. It's so weird, I've always had a Nokia before - but it was cheaper. It's so small too, it's about the half of the size my old phone was (yeah, my old one was pretty ancient

). It's so small and light and it feels like a toy. I'm afraid I'll break it or lose it in a day...

Other than that, not much going on. Christmas was pretty much the same as ever.. got some cool gifts, like stuff with skulls - I'm a sucker for skulls

, and a pretty neat comic called Blacksad from my boyfriend. Check it out if you have the chance, the artwork is stunning.

My training period at the local library ended last friday, so I'm unemployed once again. On the positive side, I've got lots of free time, but the negative thing is I'm all out of money (especially since I had to get that phone ;_; ). I really need to find a job soon, before my poor boyfriend gets tired of my leeching ;_;

-I like to read a lot. But I only read fantasy and romantic crap

-I never was too good at school. I positively suck at math, and gym gave me nightmares. The only classes I did okay in were English, Finnish and Art.

-I'm one of those people who seem to believe that shouting at a computer makes it miraculously work better. That and slamming the mouse to the desk.

So Tracon (anime and roleplaying con) was last weekend. It was fun

It was just one day though so it felt a bit hurried and as I spend most of the time on Artist Alley (not the popular one, to those who were there

) trying to sell my postcards and prints, I did get to see everything I wanted to. And I was soooo tired the whole time, so sorry people if I seemed pissed off.. I wasn't, I just had a headache

So why am I so busy again? Well, there's this Finnish manga contest going on that has pretty sweet prizes and I really want to take part in it. The problem is that there's about a month to finish the contest antry and I haven't even finished sketching

I had a lots of fun, saw some pretty great cosplays and some pretty horrible cosplays and a shitload of cosplays I couldn't identify, but it was all fun

I met a lot of nice people too, and some really talented artists

I propably forgot to mention it before, but the main reason for me to go to the con was to sell some prints and postcards of the Zodiac project pictures - and I did sell some!

I think I sold about 50-60 postcard (I haven't counted yet) and 6 prints. Not so bad for and unknown wannabe artist such as myself, eh? I also got a lot of nice comments for my work

I also bought some prints and postcards from other artists - including a pic of Cloud/Sephy

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me, so there's no pics, but I found one pic someone else took from the artist's alley [link] I'm the blond on right if you can't tell

I have some prints left over from the con, but I'm not sure if I'm going to try and sell them here, or just save them for Tracon - if I get a table there too.

On other news, we might have to give our cat away because of my allergies. I'm just waiting to get results on wether or not I have ashtma or am allergic to cats. This sucks. The little furball might be annoying as hell sometimes (especially when it wants attention in the middle of the night) but it's the only pet I've ever had and it's just a dear. Our cat is probably the nicest cat I've ever met and I really don't want to give it away. Oh well. I hope it turns out I'm not allergic after all, but my doctor said that it would be best to give the cat away anyway. I just hope that if worst happens we can find a good home for it.

Art-block related whining ahead, so feel free to stop reading

I'm this close to deleting my gallery at the moment. Why, you ask?

No, it's not because I got a mean comment (suprisingly the few comments I get a usually positive

). I do not get depressed about mean comments, because that's just silly. And no, I don't think everybody hates me because I don't have as much pageviews or favs as . I know why I don't get as many comments or whatever (if you don't, check my gallery and my stats, that should give you clue), and it isn't even that big deal to me.

And no, it isn't because I think my work is shit. Because if I thought my work was shit, I sure as hell wouldn't post it here for everyone to see. I would hide it in a closet and cry emo tears of shame. So no, I don't think my work sucks. Besides saying my work sucks feel to me like saying that all of my watchers are morons for watching this crap, and I don't think you're morons.

So why is it then?

I am not happy about my style. I don't think it sucks, but I'm not happy about it. And it makes me, not hate but maybe dislike the work I have in my gallery. It has also made the chinese zodiac project I'm trying to work on more like a series of unpleasent events. It makes me feel unable to work. So I'm going to start changing my style. I hope you'll bear with me until I find a way of working that makes me happy about art again.

And lastly, no I'm begging for sympathy. I'm just venting. Besides, I'm pretty sure that all artists feel a bit down about their work every now and then.

So anyway. The amazingly talented

tagged everyone so here I go again.

Ten things about my art:

1. I hate lineart. I have recently come to the conclusion that I'll mostly likely never be able to do the smooth clean lineart I so admire. So fuck that.

2. Anyone saying that digital art takes no talents has obviously never opened Photoshop or any other painting program in their life. Get real people, the computer does not draw the picture for you. There is no magical button that gives you a finished piece of original art work. You'll still have an idea and you still have to draw the frigging picture. Sure, lots of stuff, like coloring is easier on computer, but if you don't know what your doing it's still going to end up looking like shit. Again, the computer does not tell you what to do - you tell the computer what to do. And to what this rant has to do with My Little Art, well, I'm a digital artist myself so there.

3. My skethces look like shit. Honestly, with most of my work it's practically impossible to tell what's going on in the picture before I add the last drops of color. It's just a great big mess that magically comes together in the end. Or not.

4. This may or may not be apparent in my art, but I'm heavily inspired by impressionists, especially Monet.

5. I tend to focus on the face when I draw. I can draw hand relatively well, but arms and legs give be nightmares (well, not really), especially where they connect with the rest of the body. I'm still a bit at lost with anatomy - that's why the poses I draw are at best boring. I'm working on it, though.

6. Beginning is always the hardest part for me. Well, that and actually continuing the work. For example as I'm typing it I also have Photoshop open on another window. So I'm basicly just avoiding work. I'm a slacker, really. I need someone telling me to keep working - but on the other hand if I'm pressured I'll get mad as hell. So there you go.

7. I've said this before, but music inspires me a lot. Most of the pictures in my gallery have some connection to some song I've been listening lately.

8.I've actually got some of my work published. Nono of those works are in my gallery, mind. My published stuff looks nothing like the stuff in my gallery, so I like to keep them separate. I once showed some originals I did for a book my dad published to a friend of mine. She, looking slightly puzzled, said "These are rather nice, but how come they are not manga-ish at all?" Well duh.

9. Just because I draw certain way doesn't mean I can't admire different styles other people have. Just because I paint digital portraits doesn't mean I'm not able to understand pencilled landscapes. Just because I like X-men doesn't mean I don't like manga and vice versa. Variety, what a wonderful thing.

10. I'm also pining after stuff I don't have. I have my brain stuck on this strange idea that getting a new pen will suddenly make my inking look good. Or getting a new tablet will give me more patience. It's not going to happen. I need to get over it. This also goes for How to draw this and that-books, but at least those I've actually found useful unlike buying thousands of pencils when I mostly just work on computer anyway. If anyone knows good anatomy books, please let me know!

Vacation was fun, we went all the way up to Norway. We drove for about 2500 km (my boyfriend drove, that is - I don't have a licence). Saw some reindeer and mountains and whatnot. I might post some pics later, but they're pretty bad (thanks to our non-existent photography skills and our unbelievably crappy camera).

So the vacation was fun and everything went fine, but today as we were already on our way home and just stopped to eat, I (of course) had to leave my purse at the frigging fast food restaurant. My purse, that had my wallet, my passport and my cellphone in it. Luckily the place promised to send my purse here so we don't have to drive back (the place was about 200 km away from here).

Ah so, anyway. I should get busy with art now. The comments have piled up a bit, I'll get to those in a while. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a asshole, but I hate chain letters of all kind (especially the ones that tell you something awful is going to happen if you cut the chain..). Also I'm in a rotten mood so don't mind me

Anyway, here goes nothing.

1. I don't like people touching my hair. It gets dirty on it's own thank you very much.

2. I like to act all tough and scary (you should see me in person to know what I mean) but I like romantic novels and soft toys.

3. I hate cutting my nails but I also hate when they get too long.

4. I'm clueless about make up. I hardly ever wear any and I always seem to make a complete mess out of it.

5. I can't concentrate very well and I get bored really easy if I have to sit still for more than a few minutes without anything to do. Funny thing though, that's only when I have to listen to something or concentrate at something I'm not interested in. A speach or something like that. Otherwise I can stay still for hours doing nothing.

Hellboy - Mike Mignola's modern classic. I mean, the comic is frigging awesome, and I love Mignola's art so much I'm drooling all over my Hellboy comics (just kidding, that would ruin the book)

Sandman - Hey, Morfeus is like every goth's wet dream or something. Plus Neil Gaiman rocks. Go check out his book now if you already haven't! I recommend American Gods. And Stardust and Neverwhere and Anansi Boys and... You get the point.

X-Men - Wolverine! Wolverine! Wolverine! And did I already mention Wolverine? I can't wait to see X-men 3.

Hellsing - Alucard (who is the coolest Alucard in the world) kicks ass! How can a comic that has vampires and nazis and werewolves and guns and vampires be anything but awesome?

Howl's Moving Castle - This would be the book by Diana Wynne Jones. Oh, I like the Ghibli movie too (well, duh) but the books is better. It's silly and romantic and has magic in it. The only way it could possibly be better was if it had zombies in it.

Wallflower - The dark loner Sunako is forced to live with four ridicilously gorgeous boys who are supposed to turn Sunako (who looks like Sadako or Samara if you prefer the American version) into a beautiful lady. Wallflower is the best.

Fruits Basket - Yes it's girly, I know. But it's also very funny and cute and I think my brain is melting.

Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children - Oh yes. I've seen it probably more often than is good for me. My favourite is Cloud (like you care), because, well, he's so heroic and all that jazz. But I also dig Yazoo, 'cause he's so hot. Btw, why is it that I can't get dreams about nice stuff (like Yazoo) but I end up getting nightmares from every horror flick I watch. Or even when I don't watch them. It just ain't fair I tell you.

Demon Diary - If I'm totally honest with you I probably like Demon Diary just because Eclipse is so hot. Ok, the humor appeals to me too, 'cause I'm stupid like that. I read this stuff for entertainment, so shut up.

Tsubasa - The manga by CLAMP. I really love the art work in this manga. The stylized look is pretty awesome and I just love the charas. I just got the last book (book 8 I think) last week and yeah, it's pretty cool. If you're unfamiliar with the manga, the plot is pretty much this: Syaoran, Sakura, Kurogane, Fai and Mokona (does it count as a person?) travel between worlds searching for Sakura's lost memories. Have you noticed how most of the manga plots sound pretty idiotic when you try to explain them to someone not familiar with manga? Or is it just me?

Painkillers - I have cramps.

Naruto - Um. This might seem like I like just about every manga I get my hands on, but it's not so! I swear it's not!

I actually should be doing school work at the moment, because I have five weeks to finish a huge project before I graduate. Actually íf I don't finish the project, I wont graduate. So instead of doing actual work I'll probably waste time on dA and die of stress in the last week before we're supposed to hand in our work..
