Hi I was really pissed of when I tried Ubuntu 8.10 for the first time. I noticed that the window decorators fail to redraw when I use Compiz. So until now I was set back to 8.04. Now that I am waiting for my new Quad machine I had prepared the system to move on and to successfully migrate I had to upgrade to 8.10. So I found the solution to the problem. ( searching the web

The solution consist in modify xorg.conf and adding a line in the Device section

Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "RenderAccel" "0" #( ADDED LINE )
EndSection

So far everything works like a charm, I noticed that the Gnome works slightly faster with Compiz now then it was runing before with (RenderAccel) enabled.

I hope this journal will help someone.

Hi!

This journal isn't art oriented but is toward IT GNU/Linux.

Yesterday I tried to install Fedora 10 witch is very well polished, I was impressed by it's default look, but when it comes to usability is somehow lacking the intelligence that an OS needs, if I compeer it to Ubuntu it is very stupid and you need to do a lot of things manually. I guess it isn't very suitable for a common user and if you don't have a girlfriend/boyfriend then this distro is for you, because you will argue with it for long hours.

Pros: Speed, Look
Cons: Stupid installer, GTK engines ( WTF ), very very slow installation ( 2x slower then Ubuntu )

Hey everyone I hope you are fine and all right. I have some thoughts about myself that are rumbling in my head for some time now. I don't know where I belong and what I should do, everywhere I put myself I peaty soon get stuck and then I don't see the way out .. so I really don't know who and what I am what I do and why I do it.. it is very strange feeling it disarms you and you cant do almost nothing to battle it, at lest I don't know the sword with witch I could fight the dark daemons who persist and follow me everywhere I go, don't get me wrong I am not going insane or something like that, but I feel trapt in my everyday life witch is unfunny and to serious. Maybe this is the way thing should work.. I don't know any more what is the beauty of life? Maybe is a morning light, the smell of a spring meadow I don't know life is y oust to stressful to demanding. So whoever read this I would like to hear what do you thing, do you have the same feeling about life, or your life is better and more relaxed then mine.

I still have the touch

Yesterday I bought a second hand EOS 350D that I have modified or converted to IR purposes. The conversion took about 5hours but this is due I had to cut my Hoya R72 filter so that I replaced the hot-mirror with it. A few bolts are laying on my desk I hope the camera won't get mad about it

I need to clean the sensor and I think I will have to dismantle the thing again because there is noticeable dust inside, but this is not so problematic right now, it is only visible when i shot from f8 beyond. The focus system works well, it is more to make use to the new light condition more to the AF, and after all this crap ... I think that you would like to see some samples? ..
