Hey people!

So, I've hit a bit of a slum... I still love taking pictures, but I haven't really had any enthusiasm to do anything WITH the pictures afterwards. it sucks!
But hopefully I'll be getting some pictures of all the fire that surrounds me (google "Okanagan Fire 2009"... it's baaaddd)... supposing I wanna take my camera equipment out into the falling ash... :S
Otherwise things have been pretty moderate, found out you don't date your models (Dam!), and that I need a better job... Well I might be moving to Alberta soon to cover the job aspect (Crosses fingers)... And some other misc stuff, but it's been good for the most part.

Anyone have any challenges / ideas I should try? something from a third person view, haha... I have an idea for a lengthy photo manip project... but I have a lot of criteria that needs to be met to make it possible..

Bloody mosquito bites! I'm scratching so bad, haha

Anyway that's all I've got right now... I'll see you guys when I see you!

Oh em gee, I'm still alive! (For now)

So, Summer has come, the job will soon be ending (I'll get to that later), and I have an itch to do some pictures. It's been way too long.

Some things have changed... I still work at the same place, I still hate it. Presently the contract is working it's way over seas, so come Aug 1st, I will be officially fired (Supposing it doesn't happen sooner, with the luck I've had). I've had enough of that place, frankly. They're offering this "Stay Bonus" thing, where if we stay to the end of this month, we get 500 bucks, we stay to the end of the contract, we get an additional 1000 bucks. Now, when they had this meeting with us, they didn't tell us that was conditional to us meeting and or exceeding this impossible metrics system. We've all accepted we won't get it, and have some good plans for our last days there. Plus, more recently this chick that I work with has been getting on my nerves. We'd fight, make up the same day by the time our shift ended, go home, come back to work and repeat... it's just what we did. Time went by, and then just as of *checks his watch* Wednesday or tuesday, she decided she blown out hates me. Like we're talking extreme hate. I guess she didn't mean "Just forget it" that day I asked if she wanted a coffee. But anyway, She ended up getting me written up at work, so I'm thiiiiissss close, to going to the police about her boyfriend (or ex? I don't know what's going on with that) and his various threats he's made towards me recently.

But anyway, that's a whole other ball game.

I didn't (obviously) get the position to go to the Philippines, which kinda sucks... But a buddy of mine that has been there for about a month, just got mugged the other night, so I'm kinda happy in North America all of a sudden.

I got my own place in town now, so I'm pretty stoked about that... been here about 2 months now.

hmm... Well that's all I got for now. I've got some cool ideas for some picture adventures in the upcoming summer months here, so that should be good.

Seeya later! (Or "Catcha on the flip side (of the world)" as a friend of mine (who is now in the Philippiens) told me today .... Which, we WERE going to do some pictures of her, but then she ended up leaving the continent... so I guess I should take a hint?)

Cheers

So I did it, I can now say I've been to NYC.... can I go home now?

So the plane ride was cool... until the last hour anyways. The flight from Calgary to NYC, I realized I'm sick, so that kinda sucked... started taking tylonal and "Cold FX" at that time... Then the last hour was nothing more or less than circling the JFK Airport in very turbulent air, waiting in line for our chance to land. It was the worst feeling ever. The last 20 mins or so, I started salivating like you do right before you're about to hurl.... you know it's bad when that's coming around. But we made it, after a little while of that crap, the entire plane went silent (including the kids behind us). We landed, and just sat there for awhile.... We collected our stuff, then came the next interesting part of the trip.

NYC Cab drivers are as insane as you've heard.

We then get into a cab at the airport, tell him we gotta go to this location here... "yep yep ok ok." (now I mimic the sounds of Speedy Gaunzaullaus) (sp). Going in and out of traffic, darting between lanes... I see a speed limit sign: 40 mph. hmm... ok... How fast is he going?..... between 90 and 100 mph.... riiighhhht... *buckle up*

But we got here, got all setup, and what not..

The first couple days have been taken care of at the Javits Center a couple blocks down, the original reason we came, but now today, on the 2nd, we start tourism stuff.

We're going to see Monte Python's "Spamalot" [link] tonight, I'm going to B&H Photo & Video [link] in about 40 mins (I already know what I'm getting for sure... but I know dam well there'll be more

Don't worry, I know what you're thinking, Yes I'm going to the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, and probably Central Park too

Have any other suggestions on places to go? Keep in mind I'm within walking distance to the Javits center

So Awhile ago I posted a picture on here of my day that I got to play with the Canon EOS Mark III camera, pre released, 1 of 7 in north america, and so on.. I also mentioned that my mother's cousin is working for Canon. What I didn't mention was that my mother's cousin saw one of my pictures, and asked me if she could include it on the new website her company is doing for Canon. I said hell yeah, naturally. I just got the link.
<img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/e/excited.gif" width="23" height="19" alt=":excited:" title="OMG!
[link] is the picture they used on their site, and [link] is the link to Canon's website where you can find my picture. Just click on the Africa - Madagascar episode at the bottom, then go to Shooting Tips, and then to Night scenes and long exposures. Mine is third down

No point to this journal entry other than that, haha
I'm just stoked.
Anyway yeah, in other news, sorry I haven't been updating anything.. Working 10 hours a day will do that to one. Anyway, Taysha and I are planning another shoot for Saturday, so we'll see about putting some stuff up around then. In the mean time, I'll just say that life is good... Working for Microsoft is pretty cool, and that Transformers was a good movie.. Oh, and btw, don't buy JVC car decks, they're crap, and the company won't fix them for you. But that's a topic all on it's own right there
Anyway, I gotta get some sleep. got 5 hours of it last night, and I'm slowin down pretty quick here now. Adios all!

Hey all
So I'm pretty sure I've got a shoot or two coming up this weekend... keep your fingers crossed!
In the mean time, I'm gunna be working on a picture, hopefully within the next couple days.. depending on when I can get the.. ahem, supplies :glance: .... I know it's gunna make ~Wolfe-GTP laugh, and recall good memories of messing with my mind >.>

Anyway, down to the point. I need business/contact cards! I know nobody is going to freely design a kick ass card, so what I'm gunna request is links to cool business/contact cards, that catch your eye, something that you'd be impressed by if I handed it to you.. Please send them to me as notes. Please and thank you ^_^

I've come across too many scenarios in which it'd be very handy to have cards.. so I've decided it's gunna happen. But I'm not going for any basic, cheesy black on white basics. I wanna go all out, something really spiffy. But I need ideas!

Thanks all ^_^

Oh, and I know this is never gunna happen, but if you're patrolling in a dark room with another guard, and you hear him yell out in pain and then suddonly stop. don't walk over there without a flashlight, let alone without your gun drawn. Just a word of advice. There's something about waking up 5 days a week at 4:30AM, that just doesn't seem to agree with me. On the bright side, I do have some friends that do wanna get some shoots going.. Problem is time, and.. where? there's a few inches of snow outside, and even if that was all gone, it's still cold. Granted I wanna go a snowbunny shoot, but there's other stuff I wanna do too.
So I just did my first official photography job yesterday.. And when I say "Official photography job", I mean one that wasn't with friends or family. This was the real deal. Some people had called my mother (who is a professional photographer, visit her site [link] ) and asked if she could do their 40th anniversary. My mom told them that she, and just about every other professional photographer was going to a convention down in Victoria that particular week.. But then she said "But my son, I'm sure would do it". No pressure hey? Obviously I did it, I called them up, we sorted out a time to meet up and have a talk about it, etc.. we did that, they seemed like a nice couple.

Then the actual date came, suprisingly fast too. My mom had helped me learn some lights of hers, which I used... It was fun, everyone was smiling, joking around. One of the guys got a lot of laughs out of everyone when he said "Shit!" right before I hit the shutter. I asked him about that, he says "I learned that from a photographer once, if you say shit, people usually will laugh and smile".. I laughed and agreed with him.

So now the pictures have been taken, I told them I'd be in contact on wednesday to work something out beyond that.. Looking at the pictures, some of them were blurry (), some had bad lighting, but the majority of them aren't bad at all. Granted they'll need some photoshop work on them, but it's doable. I'm just so nervous, I didn't really look at the pictures till, well... 10 mins ago, and I took them yesterday morning. I know it's just one of those pressure things.. you know, one of those "Only one chance to get these pictures" kind of things... Once I do it a few more times, I think... wait.. I HOPE I'll get use to it, and be able to do it a little more often.

I don't know if I like indoor photography though... the lighting is just so picky. Whereas outside shots are so much easier.. they fit right into place.. As you can tell by all my portrait pictures in my gallery, outside shots are a specialty

Anyway, I just thought I'd share. I'm off to soak in the tub now... I've got that dam flu/cold going around.. so exhausted (lack if interest in working on those pictures too *sigh*)

So it's finally come true. I have my new camera! With the help of my mother, I got my new Nikon D50 yesterday. Totally love it. I'm in love with this SLR. I've got a whole new learning curve to make though, seeming as with my other camera I couldn't focus it manually (very well.. I had to hold down a button, up or down buttons.. and yeah, messy).. So now I have to get my eye back.. it's gunna take some time, but it's gunna be worth it. Another thing I'm gunna have to get back to, is adjusting the settings, taking the picture, then seeing how it comes out. With my other camera, I could see how the picture was gunna turn out before I took it.

But yeah.

I'm gunna keep my other camera though, I wanna have it for the macro mode, and the video recording.. those two it really stands out.
So yesterday was an interesting day.. Almost emotional.
I took my camera in.. on warrenty... I couldn't find the receipt tho, so the guy is just holding it until I find that.. but still.. I felt bad, you know? lol.. like I'm giving my baby over to some random person's hands.. oh well. He said it's not going to be the 8 weeks I was estimated, but rather 3-6 weeks. So that's not too bad.

After that, ~Wolfe-GTP and I went to "the field" (you'll get to know that field more.. he's got some pictures in his gallery I believe) and shot my new gun off (just an airsoft gun (BBs).. sounds like a .22 tho XD). Funny Fact! Before I even came into town, my mother told me to go to a cop shop and ask what to do with the gun.. whats the laws on it etc... So I go to the one in town, closed for lunch. Ok, well by the time I get into Vernon they'll be off lunch. I get there. CLOSED FOR HOLIDAYS. Cops: They tell you to come ask them questions if you have any questions regarding the law... but only if they're not being lazy pigs.

Then after that was all said and done, I dropped him off at work, then went to work myself. It was all good, normal day and such.. up until about 7:20. some theif guy came in and stole some MP3 players. It sucks cause he was in earlier and appearantly stole something.. we just didn't have proof (a customer said it looked like he put it in his jacket).. so we just watched him... he came in, looked at some MP3 players.. left, then came back in a min later, grabbed and run.. When he came back in I thought "Ok, he's gunna take it.. I should go wait at the front doors to catch him"... *sigh* I didn't.. I went the isle next to him instead.. and I let him get away.. a customer chased after him for awhile, but eventually came back.. I chased just out the door to find out where the guy was going.. then came back in and called the cops. But still.. I went to bed last night and I couldn't sleep.. I kept thinking of ways it could've gone better.. bah
K. next one, I'm not gunna let him get away! (teehee.. half of vernon is after the guy from yesterday now, it's funny.. Way to start your new year, hey?)

So yeah that's my rant
Oh, and a friend of mine says she wants to buy my camera off me.. so I might be $500 closer to my Digital Rebel XT! (That is supposing my mother doesn't force me to give her that money... I kinda owe her a lot right now =\)

Well I should go.. time for work again.. I'll catcha'll later

*cry* So my camera has to go in on warrenty.. it'll be gone, they say, about 8 weeks. That's not cool! it sucks ass!
To get technical, I have the Canon Powershot S2 IS, and one of the features of it, is a little reverse-able LCD screen.. turn it one way to protect it, turn it out and around to display on the back of the camera. One minute I was using it, turned it off, came back about an hour later, and Bam! it didn't work anymore.. like, the screen it'self works, but it doesn't reverse the image, and when you collapse it back into the body (screen pointing out), it just turns off!
So I'm all sad about that.. I'll be without a camera for a very long time.. a part of me wants to just get it in and done with right now, but I have to have my camera for new years, it's my only opertunity for fireworks.. So that means I'll have to send it in early January, getting it back some time in March or April.

So Alas, I won't be putting up any pictures for a long time.. ~Wolfe-GTP offered to lend me his old camera in the mean time, which I might take him up on it.. we'll see how desperate I get.

I did tho, finally get a job.. so I'm getting a steady income happening. I'm thinking I'll get a compact cam on boxing day (I get my first pay on the 23rd, go figure).. I've had my eye on a couple nice little ones. If I get that, I might not feel so bad about not having my powershot... might.

Anyway, so that's my uplifting journal entry for the... month.. I should go get ready for work now, adios peoples

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that was the best subject title.. to end it, would be "begging"

Ok, so. I'm in need of some help here! No, nothing life threatening or anything.
I know what you're gunna say, so read before you judge

I found a site that gives free Ipods to Canadians (Finally.. it use to always be Americans), But you had to do something for them. First off, you sign up, then you complete an offer (usually sign up and order some free thing, you just cancel after you get it sorta deal), then reffer 5 friends. Well, I've done the offer, now I just need the 5 friends.

I need 5 people, to go to this [link] and sign up, then do an offer. In turn of doing this, you can do the same thing I am, and get a free ipod. Just signing up won't do the trick, I need an actual completed offer.. Now usually they have some good ones on there, like for an example mine, I just had to sign up with Ebay (which I was going to eventually anyways), and place a bid on something.

So all in all, if you love me, will ya help a guy out?

I'm sure you're thinking that it's some scam or something, but I looked into it, it's totally legit.. caught me off guard too. The only thing I have to say is watch out what offer you sign up on. there are some pretty crooked ones out there. Try, if possible, to sign up on one that doesn't require a credit card, cause then it's fool proof.

If you have questions or the related, go ahead and contact me @ Esonator@yahoo.com ... people flaming me, go ahead, but when I get my ipod I'll post a picture up here just to prove how wrong you were! muahahaha!

So there's my begging in. Enjoy it, it doesn't happen often

Oh yeah, remember to use this link: [link] cause it'll give me the credit then, otherwise I don't get the credit, and it doesn't help me out at all

*hangs his coat up to dry*

So. Yesterday I was sitting around wondering "Ok, where haven't I been to get pictures from yet?" then it occured to me! Lumby! a small town outside of Vernon.. "hick town" some call it. So I message up ~Wolfe-GTP on MSN
me: So, you wanna go to Lumby tomorrow?
him: what's there?
me: not sure, hopefully something to take pictures of

then some time passes, and he agrees.. so we setup a time to meet up at and such. The morning of, I wake up an hour or so early of my alarm.. I roll over and start to go back to sleep, when I hear something outside..
"Is that rain?" I thought to myself... some time passes, "yup.. definetly rain.. oh well, it'll probably clear up". An hour later I wake up.. turn on my computer.. stretch, and look out the window, only to see it just pissing rain down outside. First words out of my mouth that day- "well... THAT'S not good". But, I assured myself it would clear up. So I rush to get my stuff together to meet up with Travis. We waited around in Vernon for about an hour for the bus to come, then took it on into Lumby; the whole time saying "Well, it looks like it's clearing up a little..." little did we know, it wasn't.. it was just a less rainy spot.

We got off the bus, dropped off our pop bottles at the local bottle depot (which just happend to be all of 30 feet from the bus stop), and continued on our way. "Looks like a trail over there" says Travis. So we headed out and checked it out.. We found a broken down shack, and decided to go in to keep dry.. maybe take a picture or two. Not a hell of a lot was there to take pictures of, but we DID get a good laugh at the penis drawings all over the place. So we went on our way, and continued down this well maintained path. We got down to this long straight stretch of the path, and about half way down, I said "Hmm.. which way does this go? left or right? it kinda looks like it goes right, so it'll probably take us back into town". We walked down closer to it, and found out it didn't go left, or right. it just ended. Seriously. It was a very well maintained path, that quite litterally, didn't go anywhere. We just assumed it was a "tourist trap", and continued on our way back to town.

We wandered around town for awhile looking for somewhere to eat.. we grabbed a couple snacks and took off again.. This time we found this moutain side that looked like a big landslide hit it, so we started walking in it's general direction. We ended up taking a road that went right under it, so we climbed up the hill to the next level to see whats around there. We got up there and looked around, found out that after we climbed up this rather difficult hill of muddy rocks, and the fear that the moutain was going to slide down on us, that there was a road about 100 feet away that went from where we were, to were we got to, then continued up the moutain. Then, Travis discovered something that took out attention- mud slides! Yep! it was pretty cool. as he describes it, it looked like lava flows. So we quite litterally spent about 40 minutes playing with this sliding mud, making dams and such. Then Nature called.. so we had to go up and find a tree.. then we walked down the moutain, back into town, and went for some food at "Sisters' Family Resturant". They make some pretty good poplers (shrimp, futurama style). Then yeah.. we just pretty much sat around for 2 1/2 hours waiting for the bus to take us back home.

Travis, the smart guy, didn't come very prepared for wet weather, so he got pretty soaked and cold (He didn't even have boots!).. whereas me.. I had like.. 4 layers of clothes on, and winter/waterproof boots, so I kept pretty dry until about 3:00 ish. then I started to notice things getting a little wet. Word of advice- cashmier (sp) coats, get VERY heavy when they're full of water.

So yeah.. That sums up our monday. Definetly not worth going.. but on the bright side, we did take about 5 pictures.. wait.. thats not it.. oh yeah, we did find some stuff that WOULD be good pictures if it wasn't raining... so we'll probably go back another time when it's not so... wet.
So all in all, Travis and I are even. He took me to BX Falls back in August, I took him to Lumby in oct. seems fair

Tuesday we were gunna go up there, he was convincing me "oh it'd probably only take about 45 minutes to get there or so, lots of time to get back before your bus"... but I decided against it.. so we went yesterday (wednesday)
9:45 we meet up, and start heading out, we decided to go to a grocery store and pick up a few things for the trip.
10:00 we leave the grocery store and head up the (steep) moutain. Along the way we took a few breaks, complained about stuff, but overall it was fun.
11:00 rolls around:
Me: I thought you said it'd take about 45 minutes to get there?
Him: ok so I was wrong.
12:00, we show up. XD

But yeah, I marked out our path on Google Earth. we traveled 16 km (18 for Travis, cause he walked home). it was fun, he told me it was a pretty cool area, no kidding!
I'll have to go up there again another time, maybe with a car though.

As for sore muscles, it's pretty good, I only have one in my lower left back, to my suprise o.O

After we finished taking picture of the actual falls themselves, we followed a trail that went down the creek, along the way stopping and taking pictures. First stop, we took our shoes off and walked into the water. I should mention that running moutain water is very cold.. it was fun tho. a mosquitoe even gave me a hickie!

So then we put our shoes on and continued on the trail... half an hour on the trail we come across some people going the other direction, asked if this trail actually goes through to a road or something, they didn't think so. so we continued on... came across some more people later, they didn't find out, but thought it just looped around... so about that point I was beginning to wonder o.O
(As I write this out, I'm scratching that dam mosquitoe bite -_-)

Later on in the trailing, we came to the hardest choice. [link]
Go left, or go right? Travis wanted left cause it went down hill, but I wasn't sure if it looped around like the map showed us at the parking lot or not, so I convinced him to go right.. up about 300 feet... very vertical.
about 15 mins of climbing later, we reach a subdivision housing area... then we had another choice, go right and meet up with the main road (uphill a little), or go left and find out where that road goes (downhill a lot ). we couldn't really decide, so just our luck, some guy was just leaving his house, so we flagged him down and asked which road this is, and where the downhill one goes.. found out it's the better of two evils, so we took it.

And yeah.. we walked all the way back down in to Vernon, right to Burger king (for my lunch), then to the mall for Travis'.

So there's our story. I upped a few pictures of the waterfalls, if you want to see them.

So Travis, was that complaining enough?
