The usual signs… Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up.
My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, “Just some friends from work, you don’t know them.”

I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive. Although I can hear a car driving off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why? Maybe she wasn’t in a taxi?

I once picked her cell phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife I think deep down I just didn’t want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her.

I decided I was going to park my motorcycle next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she came home. It was at that moment, crouching behind my bike , that I noticed that the valve covers on my engine seemed to be leaking a little oil.

Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it back to the dealer?

MILWAUKEE - Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday (March 4th, 2008) morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.

I think I will like this card game. The concept is pretty neat, but probably more for pen & paper / RPG addicts like me.

The slogan say it all, "Without teamwork, you'll never survive. Without betrayal, you'll never win!"

The aim of the game is to get the "last hit" commonly also known as ks (kill steal) because the one with the last hit killing the monster gets the rewards. BUT, without teamwork, no individual can defeat the monster alone! Lol!

my parents have always disapprove of Art as my hobbies or watever. To them, it is a waste of time and money.

Have been so for the past 20 over years and still are. I am darn pissed. I really dislike pple trying to push their idea of "proper living" to mi. I am ME, and I am no clone.

Plenty of guns, armors, and bikes... hahaha... Back online for awhile, was away on reservist since 18th.

The new scrambler (bike) was darn heavy... I don't like my new formation at all... hahaha... too heavily armed for my taste... I am too used to light armaments with high mobility... the rifle is alot heavier than the carbine I used to carry too...

And now my bike comes with a softskin track... u can't imagine the amount of stores we need to prepare... for a small squad...

This is a very famous buddhist poem. There may be some inaccuracy as my chinese is very bad, and most of the things I learnt are from oral recitations. The two stranz are from two different monks. The first learned monk who wrote it, basically say that we should regularly cleanse ourselves to maintain our purity of heart (one should lead a virtuous life always), and the second monk (who is illiterate) asked a passerby to read it out to him. And then after some thoughts he asked the passerby to write out his reply. "How can there be sins if there is nothing?"

Literal:
身是菩提树，
Just as your body is like the bodi tree,
心如明镜台，
Your soul is a bright standing mirror,
时时勤拂拭，
And by cleaning and polishing regularly,
勿使惹尘埃
will give no cause for any smudges.


菩提本无树，
But there is no tree within the bodi,
明镜亦非台，
Nor the bright mirror is a stand(ing mirror),
本来无一物，
Because there is nothing (at all) since the beginning,
何处惹尘埃
So whereth comes the dirt?


Thoughts:
It is kinda hard to explain, and I think there are multiple interpretations. The first stranz is very obvious, it is the second one that is much much deeper.

1. The moment we realise that everything is actually nothing, we will realise that there is no need to try to always lead a virtuous life, because we will realise we are already leading a pure life.

2. There is no need for us to make ourselves pure and holy by trying to do good because with realisation we will know that for a mirror to remain bright and pure is not by cleaning, but by realising that are no mirror. A good deed is just a deed. Do we need to think over it, to judge if it is good or bad? Helping an old lady, is just helping a old lady, it is just a deed, neither good nor bad. It is nothing, just as there is no it.

3. However, to think that we can do no wrong is arrogance, it is just the realisation that there is nothing. Neither stranz is right or wrong. Both are right and wrong. They are but just different phases of enlightenment. First we should indeed clean and polish ourselves regularly. But once we realise that there is nothing, then we will realise that what we are doing are not actually cleaning nor polishing ourselves, because there are no dirt in the first place.

Started off with England. And was doing pretty good, until I invaded Scotland... where the Pope insist I cease all hostility with them. And I am under siege!! Hell, i can crush them, but Pope say no, and I have to suffer their siege and yet cannot attack them. Then the French and Danish decided it is a good them to invade England... AND the Moorish pirates decided to attack my crusading troops... sob...

So I restarted a new game. Tried Venice. New country. Became best friend with the Pope, but i dun like the terrain... too narrow and longish... and all milita... very boring... hahaha

So I tried Spain next. Not bad so far. Their Jittes are fantastic although useless in siege... lol...

Paintball:
Decided to go paintball... booked it many months ago... spend 2 hrs travelling there... Only to meet RAIN! so no paintball... sob... darn RAIN!!

Fantastic! We were losing 19:6 kills, and then 3 dude decided to leave, leaving just mi (viper) and necrolyte. Against the remaining 4 dudes in the Sentinel.

We have onli 3 towers left (the one in the base) and onli destroyed 2 of their towers. So we played defensive! Hahahahaa. THEN we PWN them! Once I get into late game stage! They were too overconfident, and let mi kill them once or twice.

I din see the score, but we PWN them full time. Then they all left... hahaha after mi single handed kill all of them.... hahah tiny is too fat... the rest have too low hp vs my awesome dmg.


Update #2

Went for my martial arts grading... wow, super tiring... considering training was yesterday... and tat is the 1st training since my absence for 3 week.

The stretching alone is enuff to kill... anyway, I have to

bend a spear with my throat while getting hit with 3 sticks across my back

get punch and wack on my dian tian 40 times... tat silly guy missed and hit my stomach, and that hurts... lol

break a coconut kernel with my palm

break 5 more bricks with my palm

spar with a black belt for 3 min

spar again with 3 dudes together for another 2 min AND I am not allowed to grab, throw, or attack the face. dotted. (I am not much of a kicker)

Ok... so now I hurt all over... and my hand hurts, cuz teh brick is kinda rough... no more drawing until my hand get better. lol. I need spa and massage! lol

Wasted 50% of my train journey trying to clear his airway, but although I managed to remove the blockage, he remained unfunctional. It seemed he can't swallow at all.

In the end, I remove a pretty lead and fed it to his twin brother (who usually eat 0.3 HBs) instead. So I doodle abit and mourn my poor mechanical pencil.

Anyway, reached my office and began the surgery to save the poor sod. After 5 min of detail dismemberment, yeah! I managed to save him! And soon after pronounced him fit for duty! Hurray!

The 1st dude to ever steal my stuff. Yeah, I nv bother to go thru the trouble of protect my stuff cuz

1. Art is for sharing, and if one really wanna steal, there is nothing to can stop him/her. No javascript, flash, or watever is gonna stop a thief, except by removing it from the internet. If it can be seen, it can be stolen.

2. I am a firm believer of Karma.

3. So what can u get out of stealing art? Nothing. Cuz if u can't produce art @ the quality of which u had stolen, u're nv gonna get a job. Similarly, u will find these "glory" u gain are hollow, after sometime. Cuz I can't imagine anyone being able to take pride in others pple work. U can lie to everyone, but u can nv lie to yourself.

4. Art is about creation and expression. Walking in my shadow is kinda lame, u lose more than u gain.

David Gemmell, the popular British author of heroic fantasy, has died suddenly at the age of 57. His writing career began as the result of a misdiagnosis of cancer in the early 1980s. With great energy he threw himself into the task of writing a novel before he died, determined to beat what he believed to be a terminal illness.

He wrote the book with speed and enthusiasm, working habits that soon became established. That first novel was Legend, published in 1984. It was an immediate success, and established Gemmell as the pre-eminent author in this particular genre of fantasy.

With the mistaken diagnosis set aside, and the extraordinary success of this title (the book was later adapted as a graphic novel, and his publishers even renamed their fantasy imprint Legend), Gemmell settled down to producing novels on a regular basis. Over the next two decades he wrote more than 30 long novels. Most of these form part of several series of linked titles, although there are a few, similar, standalone novels. He wrote one conventional thriller, under the pseudonym Ross Harding. He was working on the final book in his Troy series (fantasies of alternative history) when he died.

David Gemmell was born in west London, and had a tough, troubled urban upbringing, reacting against the unwelcome presence in his life of a stepfather. He was expelled from school in his teens, apparently for organising a gambling syndicate. He found work as a labourer, then as a lorry-driver's mate. In the evenings he worked as a nightclub bouncer.

By the time he was in his mid-30s and writing his first novels, Gemmell was a journalist working for a chain of newspapers on the south coast of England, editing three of them. He also worked as a stringer for national newspapers. He wrote fiction during his lunch breaks, but also presumably during company time, because after the third book he was fired. He remained in East Sussex for the rest of his life, freelancing as a writer.

The many thousands of admirers of his books particularly relished his storytelling ability and the quirky, believable characters he created. He was an unabashed entertainer, who made few pretentious claims about his books, all of which are driven by strong narrative, muscular and sometimes didactic prose and a series of violent or difficult encounters, often resolved by physical action or heroics. Gemmell said that he knew and understood violent men, which was why he enjoyed writing about them.

In his novels, typically, a self-doubting but charismatic warrior, together with a group of unlikely companions, overcomes the forces of darkness in a series of violent but often pyrrhic encounters. Gemmell once summed up the content of his novels with these words: "Love, friendship, honour, courage and redemption". He was fascinated by what he saw as the true nature of heroes (he believed them to be unreliably heroic), and this ambivalence runs through almost everything he wrote.

Like all successful novelists, he had his detractors. His critics complained of the repetitive nature of his plots, and the restricted, if colourful, vocabulary. Violent events occur in all his books, and generally provide the sole impetus for plot development. Gemmell was a generic writer within a specialised and somewhat esoteric genre of fiction: the sort of book you might imagine would be classified as "heroic fantasy" was exactly what he wrote, without innovation or noticeable individualism.

The ambivalence extended to his life. At first sight a conservative man, he was an advocate of capital punishment, a devout Christian, a collector of Louis L'Amour westerns, and an admirer of Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, John Wayne and Sylvester Stallone. But this was only one side of him. His background, through his mother, was socialist. After he became wealthy, Gemmell quietly supported many small charities and good causes. He gave generously to a women's refuge and to a rehab programme for young addicts, and he did much to encourage novice writers. In Hastings, where he made his home, he revived the fortunes and aspirations of the local writers' group, and established a short story prize, administered in Hastings but open to all comers. The Legend competition is still held annually. Gemmell always took an active role in the final judging and award ceremony.

I feel so unprotected... I am pondering whether should I still submit stuff to DA?

I totally understand DA's stand. It is just the phrasing u noe. It gives an impression that DA is not gonna care 1 whim about pple stealing ur stuff and posting in DA.

For example, in the past, it is generally agreed that if u find an art theft, etc, u report to DA and they will remove it. But after this statement, it gives this impression that DA is not responsible for it, so they are not going do anything about it. And moreover, the 3rd party phrase - it is like if the 3rd party abuses the stuff DA handed over, DA is not gonna care either, cuz they are not responsible too.

I know these statements are just to cover their ass, but it would be cool if they can reassure us that they will do their best to protect our interests.

Zdzislaw Beksinski [link]
As I had commented previously, Beksinski was one of my major influences. He was a polish surrealist who started out as an engineer first. His art mostly dealt with morbid scenes of humanity and death, and occasionally strange unexplained structures and landscapes. His works haunt the soul yet strangely captivating.


Yoshitaka Amano [link]
The famous Amano, the japanese concept artist for the Final Fantasy series. I guess most of you would have already know all about him, so I am not going to say much. I admire Amano greatly because of his brillant yet contridictory colors - daring and able to express without seeming overly chaotic. I love his flowing lines, and together with his unique colors, his artworks are amazingly expressive and seductive.


Tony Diterlizzi [link]
Diterlizzi, if you are the old school tabletop rp gamers, then you most probably would know about this fantastic artist who is the chief artist of TSR Dungeon & Dragons Monster Manual. But what that really made a name for him is Planescape! The moment anyone mention the word Planescape, the first thing that comes to people mind is Tony Diterlizzi. His characters have this unique mix of mischievousness and sunshine cheer, with a definite taste of fantasy. His characters typically have this roundish button nose, with a slightly elongated but plump figure - imagine a slightly child-like body structure. Very expressive, a style uniquely his.


Alan Lee [link]
The great Alan Lee! Most would remember him as one of the chief concept artist for Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (the movie). But in reality, he had already done numerous art for Tolkien long before the movie was even suggested! He is a master of watercolors and graphites, a traditional fine art master. There is nothing much I can really say except he is really a master of his mediums, the classic fantasy master.


Hayao Miyazaki [link]
Hayao Miyazaki, the director/creator of numerous fantastic movies and comics, namely Valley of the Winds, Spirited Away, Totoro ... The thing I love about his works are the deep inner meanings to his animations and comic - in particular Valley of the Winds. He was pretty unhappy about the movie version of Valley of the Winds (although personally I feel it is still very good) as he had to compressed too much stuff into the limited screen time. His works really imprints deeply into my psyche, it really touches the soul. Although I can claim to understand fully his works (as I am not really familiar with japanese culture), but sufficient gotten through to me. Another expressive artist! Art is not just technical skill.


Brian Froud [link]
One of the masters of Faerie art. I haven't really studied about him, but his works are so widespread that I can't help seeing them. And subconsciously I was influenced. His fairies, goblins are just so unique and so appropriate, that like Diterlizzi, the moment you hear fairy and goblins, you think of Froud. Another classic fantasy artist!


Tim Burton [link]
Last but not least Tim Burton, the poet/director of Nightmare after Christmas, Corpse's Bride and Oyster boy to name a few of his works (they are classified under literature, not fiction). Like Miyazaki, he is yet another expressive artist with extremely deep thoughts. Whereas Miyazaki deals mostly on nature and the japanese culture/society, Tim Burton deals with children and teen angst. Despite his seemingly simple strokes and simple words, and weird child-like plots, his works are amazingly insightful, sad yet humorous. Art is not just expression, it is also a message.


Neil Gaiman [link]
Ok, strictly speaking by some people's definition, he is not an artist. But in my opinion, Gaiman is one of the greatest artists - art is not restricted to visual arts. He is one of the most visionary writers I have known, and the graphic series "Sandman" is most probably his most famous work. Destiny, Death, Dream, Desire, Despair, Destruction, Delusion, the endless in his world. The next sad thing is my computer crashed again, and I had to reformat and install windows and everything else - twice in 1 month.

The next sad thing is the saddest of all. It felt like a part of me is lost... For those who knows me, I use my outlook express as my diary. Now a few years of my life is gone, just like that. All my poems, all my short stories I wrote... gone just like that.

Several years worth of rpg entries are gone... especially the few years when I was still rping with my ex... I never really did find another... she is gone from my life... now everything is gone... it saddens me... now everything that still remains are my memories...

The loss of alot of half completed poems and stories sadden me too... It is like suddenly some part of the past which was me is gone... just like that... my thoughts, my emotions that i trapped within these words... gone...

I was depressed for nearly 3 years... mayhap still am, but I am definitely getting better recently... When I was sad, I always write... words just spill out, on and on... until I am utterly exhausted... Writing helps me to pour out my unhappiness, prevents me from going crazy...

Now that these words which held my tears are gone... I do not know how to feel... it is like a part of me is dead... I do not know who I am anymore...

Yoshitaka Amano is one of my fav artist. But honestly, when I first saw his works, I kinda think they sux... it is like random scratching and stuff like tat... anyway, it seem his art is an acquired taste. I din know when, but just one day I kinda understand him... which of cuz may not be right, but it doesn't really matters... I love the feel the flow of his lines and colors...

All these while I never really have a fixed style, usually i dun plan for my drawing, it just turn out whatever style it is... I am usually more concern with the feel, than the actual style or technical stuff...

That is why I dislike fanart... cuz i dun like to copy or imitate... it is like, one fine day, i decided that a cloak look nice, I will add a cloak, and other times, i like a horn, so I add a horn. You will see that my characters seldom have the same costume, or even face... but all the same they are the same yet different, cuz I dislike control, I love freedom, I love the order within chaos.

Anyway, I dunno what I talking either... hahaa I am just bored... but I din planned my art to look so Amano... they just turned out this way... I just express... lalalaa

In other news, am bedridden (almost) since I was back from the training... too much rain... my health is inversely proportional to the rainfall... just say, I am severly sick, temperature reaching over 38.4 degree at times... Still am sick, but at least my body temperature is kinda under control... the bad news is my leave ends tommorrow. So wat i've been doing for my week long leave? Sick... darn...

In other news, something went wrong with my vestibular system. In other words, I am in a semi-permanent state of vertigo and I can't walk straight. So expect to see alot of wobbly art if i manage to post any... hahhaaa... I hope i get better... else doc says i may need to see a specialist...

I just sold a few pints of blood for a pack of pills hahaha... now my arm hurts... strangely... must be the weather... lol... feeling abit dizzy now... lol... hungry too...

Just when u are congrating urself for finishing marking 2 stacks of reports, u see another 2 stacks suddenly appearing before u... can be extremely upsetting at times...

Tommorrow am going to have a feast!! CRABS!!! moi friend is back from his stint in stanford, now we are gonna have a crab feast

I love weekends! And my finger is fully healed I think. It is functional, although it will take quite awhile before the callus disappears
