In life you have, essentially, three states of mind (in my opinion):  happiness, contentedness, and unhappiness.  Each of these categories encompasses other emotions, feelings, existences.  Simply though, I feel you are either happy, fine, or sad.  It's like Dante's heaven, purgatory, or hell; you have to wind up one of these places (in his mind's eye).  So my question is, should a person give up the dream of true happiness to avert everlasting sadness?  Is being content good enough?
