The Cube 60 is the best non-tube guitar amp under 600$, I swear to Dog!

I'm having hella fun with it, it's brillant and so full of possibilities, I just need a Stratocaster or a Jazzmaster and then I'll be the happiest guitarist since Hendrix did his first LSD trip.

I'm not drawing much or doing anything art-related these days, the only reason for Les kids... is that I wanted to put something up before writting this.

I'm alsi seriously considering fullowing :crucian: 's leas and changing username, I hink I'll do that tomorow.

Also, the harry potter books are like sweet candy, they're my reward for going trough Tolstoï, Marquez or Eco. No second degree-well written, simple, pure candy.

Job's a bitch, I get. like, 8 hours a week tops for a full month. The paychecks are going to be verry pathetic little things.

Also, I,m significantly reduced my dayly hours on the "intarwebnet", it's pointlessly sucking my time. So yeah, I left a couple of forums and probably won't be checking much of anything exept DA.

Sorry for the pretencious title, I'm getting quite absorbed in philosophical summer-readings.

Anyway, about that big project thing, I'm thinking it over. I was planning on basically creting a virtual person using a DA account and a LJ and slowly creating a story, using only journal entries and drawings that I would have made but signed in the name of this person. Every detail, drawing and post would have some significance in the story. So along the passing months that character would evolve and stuff. Basic "coming of age" scenario.

It could be really reat, but I need to polish everything, construct a solid story that's interesting enough to keep people hooked on it for months.

I'm still trying to choose if it's going to be a he or a she.

Both have advantages and inconvenients, a he would be easier because I know how it is to grow-up as a guy and to love (or believe you love) a girl, but then that would make him too close to me, he would come out as some "the guy I always wanted to be but never could". On the other hand, making a girl would make it hard to be credible, because altough I have realised that there aren't much diferences in the psyche of a guy or a girl, the unconscious is not the same and society puts diferent pressures on women. Also, I don't know how it is to love a guy at all, so I'd have to make her gay, and then it would probably come out as some weird pervert fantasm more than anything else.

Also, this whole deal is going to ask a lot of time on my part and there would be, like, five people who would give a damn, and I'm optimist.

Personal crap:
Buying my new guitar amp tomorow, a Roland Cube 60 with pedal set, new. I'm keeping about 75% of my summer earnings for a trip I'm planning to do in two years in Latin Europe, thinking about starting it in the UK, then moving to France, Holland, Spain and ending with Italy, all in train. Next summer I'm thinking of road-tripping across the USA, low budget: Booze and Kraft Dinner, some weed. Sleeping in the car or something. We'll see.

I went to the Montreal Jazzfest, witch is as huge and awesome as always, there was this cool jazz/funk/soul band from NY called The Boom Squad playing, they literally owened the stage, specially the signer. Next was some folk playing dude from Chicago or something called Ray Lamontagne, he was completely wasted and high on shrooms but still managed to put a good show, and we finished with some old cool bluesman, he played the best version of All Along the Watchtower I've heard since Hendrix's.

I started Roleplaying a bit, and I'm already regretting it, some of my friends are really adament about it. But whatever, gotta try new things, right?

Also, I finally got aroung to playing the original Pokemon game on Gameboy Color, that thing is really addictive, but it's a damn good game, it's sad they ruined it all with the tons of byproducts.

Recently I rediscovered Mano Solo, a great french songwritter, I really recomend his song J'veux du soleil.

Whoa! Long entry!
See ya, got some jamming to do.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT I NEED TO SEE THIS! [link] The first one was absolutely beautiful and why the fucking flying fuck isn't this out in Montreal yet?

[rant]Seriously, something's verry wrong with me these days. I mean, I should be happy: I get good grades, don't have to worry about bills, have a couple of friends and lot of people I can say "hi" to, am probably going to see Coldplay with two real nice girls, have had about six calls for summer jobs, four of witch got me interviews.

But the thing is I think i'm going trough some kind of subtle, insidious depression: I'm about three times as cynical these days as I used to be, I'm alternatively aggressive then disinterested, I can't stand to hear any bullshit from anyone without wanting to vomit. During two of my interviews I had to use all my self control not to yell something like: "I'M A FUCKING CUMMUNIST REVOLUTIONARY! I'll unionize this place before you know it! You can take your fucking "great corporate family" and shove it deep down your pretty little ass you cocksucking puppet."

Worse still, the day before yesterday I fell asleep on my bed at SEVEN IN THE FUCKING EVENING! And I had slept for nine hours the night before.

I'm also having more and more problems with respecting people with certain oppinions, I already said I don't respect oppinions anymore (not even my own) but now I'm not sure if I can keep my principles and respect people.[/rant]

On other news, art should be coming up sooner or later, trying to get out of apathy. Also, the movie Jesus de Montréal, a french movie nominated for an academy award a while ago, is really fucking good. Tough it doesn't help me with my depression...

Yeah, that's it. Ani Difranco plays the best folk ever, but you knew that.

Okay, ranting time:

WHAT THE FUCKERY FUCKEY FUCK IS FUCKING WRONG WITH THIS FUCKING FUCKUP OF A FUCKED WORLD?

First things: NO, WHETER THE LIBERALS OR CONCERVATIVES ARE IN POWER WON'T CHANGE ANYTHING, WE'RE GETTING THE HELL OUT OF THIS "COUNTRY" ANYWAY. Please, this is a message to any english canadian who might eventually be reading. We, the people who live in Quebec, do not feel any more afinity with canadians than americans or frenches for that matter. Our culture, language and mentality are diferent, distinct and singular. This whole independence thing is not about hating you, we just don't give a fuck about the west. I've been there, and while people are sortof friendly (exept for the frowns when you speak french), they are not part of my identity. We were not raised with the same backgrounds, we do not read the same authors and don't listen the same music (well, we listen to some of yours but the inverse is not true, and Celine Dion does not count).

And Goddamnit there's a money question too. Why the hell should I pay for the 500 billions dollars in debt that was spent on buiding Ontario and getting the power away from Montreal?

So, I just need to ask, for your own good, get this corrupted governement out of power. I don't give a shit wheter you vote Neo-Democrat, Concervative or (God-forbid) Bloc, just prove to yourself that you can't spit on democracy and get away with another fucking mandate. Please. Quebec is signing off anyway, we have our own facists fucktards to deal with.

Second: I'm all with the Galaxie author when he says that everyone implied in the Gomery scandal should have to do door-to-door selling of Liberal Party labelled chocolate untill the completely pay back all the money they put in their pocket.

Third: About these two poor morons who have been forced to carry drugs from the Dominican Republic: 8 YEARS? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS JUSTICE SYSTEM?

These poor dummies were pressured to carry what they tought to be extacy (but turned out to be heroin) by Montreal crimelords, and what do we do? We give them eight fucking years in jail. Shit.

Fourth: For fuck's sake what's the deal with giving five assignments due for the next two weeks IN THE SAME GODDAMN CLASS?

Fifth: Every student who's cell phone rings during class should imediately be shot by an automated system.

Sixth: Girls, don't comb your hair like this [link] , it's ugly.

Seventh: Someone please tell the My Chemical Romance signer that he looks like a bufoon and needs to get the fuck out of my TV.

Eight: I do not respect your opinion, neither your religion. It's already hard enough to respect you.

Ninth: What the fuck is wrong with all that political corectness? One guy on laïc public television says he thinks Islam is a stupid religion, and they fire him on the spot. Fuck. I don't have a problem if you believe for one reason or another in the existence of a God, or even if for an even weirder reason you adhere with an organised religion, but for Bob's sake you gotta accept that people will try to tear your beliefs and theories apart (specially for a religion that allows repression on so many points as Islam). That's what proress is.

Tenth: There's a good chance that at this verry moment a young girl somewhere in the world (probably in Africa, but it's clandestinly done in Canada too) is getting her clitoris cut off with a razor blade by her own fuking family.

Laugh now.

Eleventh: Cynism doesn't make you superior. Shut-up.

Twelvth: Neither does Pessimism.

Thirteenth: Sangria tastes like shit in you mouth the next morning.

Fourteenth: JESUS FUCKING CHRIST people, speaking up in class won't get you killed. Free speech is great, you should try it sometime.

Fifteenth: Bush talks like Big brother, and Ben-Ladin is his Goldstein. Wake the hell up.

Also, the latest Fantomas album is the most insane thing I've listened to since the Blood Brothers's "Burn Piano Island".

If you can catxh it, Nobody Knows is an awesome movie that changes so much from the usual hollywoodian pacing. It's all in subtelities and nuances. I just wish it had a little south-american-ish freedom, but whatever. Awesome still.

Also, I recently remembered how much I love Erika Moen's comics, specially this one: [link]

Art-wise, I'm in a small block, it's gonna pass sooner or later. I thik I need to change mediums.

It is verry sad, but I will try to make this positive by not spending time on any other forums anymore.

School's starting again next monday for me (yes, the governement fucked us verry bad and we kneel'd like a catholic choirboy to give him a pretty felation so we can get a couple of peanuts to masturbate over).

Fucking puppets.

Anyway, this means more time producing stuff and (maybe) getting this damn comic done.

More characters are going to pop-up in my gallery during the following month, for now we have Marc [link] and Myriam [link]
Meanwhile I give you this: [link]

Artpad is now one of my favorite websites ever.

On other news, if you are in Quebec, go watch La vie avec mon père. C'est très très bon, et ça vous redonne goût à la vie.

I'm going to see Sin City tomorow, I'll post about that, but my expectations are VERRY HIGH.

EDIT: And they weren't decieved. It rocks so f u c k i n g much. Clive Owen is now considered a God, right besides Johny Depp, Jude Law, Naomi Watts and Bill Murray.

Robert Rodriguez has won his honnor back. Totally.

Sin City is better than sex. That's a fact.

Louise Attaque is a verry good band, you should buy their last albums, you won't regret it.

So is the latest Mars Volta, it's pretencious, but daaaamn they have something to be pretencious about: talent.

Ahem.

Yeah, so we're finally on student strike, and if it was only me, I'd do a new May '68 if needed.

Anyway, that means more freetime for arting and stuff, so I guessw I'll post more and try to be more active during the week. Even tough there's this Big novel-ish thing that's been in my head for a long time that I badly want to write.

I'm currently listening to The Game, I know it's everywhere around and it has (god forbid) 50 cents featuring in almost every song, BUT DAMNIT SOME OF THESE SONGS KICK ASS! Especially "We Ain't" and "Westside Story".

Also I'm downloading some Propellerhead, not just that Matrix song but the whole Decksanddrumsandrockandroll album. Witch is awesome-ish. It sides with Portishead Dummy and Morcheeba's Charango as the top three Techno/Acid Jazz albums ever.

Haven't been doing much in the hollidays, Even on the personal side (only went to one sick-drinking party).

The Worgroup thing has ended today, I'll still stalk the ancients memmbers, they all had neat art in their own personal ways...

*stares at Kia's literally sickingly cute and innocent art*

Also props to Demencia [link] for making some of the neatest, most stylish stuff around.

Saw some movies too:

Ocenan Twelve: Lacks something, it's a downer, tough I still like George Clooney. 6,5/10

National Treasure: Nicolas cage is a really neat actor these days, and the obligatory chick was hot in that red dress... 6/10

Three Kings: I feel in love with David O' Russell at the moment I saw the I Heart Huckabees trailer, this is his previous film, a great reflection on the gulf war and moral responsibilities in general. Plus it has George Clooney 9.5/10

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the old movie): I had the chance of seeing the Family Guy's Beerwonka episode before the movie, making it really hilarious. Hmmmm Family Guy... 7/10

Naked Lunch: Most fucked-up, disgusting, intelligent, morbid, all around weird movie ever. David Cronenberg should be cannonised. 9/10

The Girl With the Pearl Earring: Beautiful, every shot from the movie look like a painting. One of the best photo direction ever. Good story and good actors. 8/10

Lost in Translation: Ever felt like an alien that just doesn't fit but likes it there anyway? This is for you. It's got Billl motherfuckin' ghostbustin' Murray in it too. 9/10

Cofee and Cigarettes: Chill, man. Take your time. 7/10

Solaris: Slow and interesting, good moral dilemnas. George Clooney is as great as ever.

In other news, I'm really looking forward to a few titles, namely Ramirez's nexr opus Sin City, the next Jet-Li called Unleashed (how can you say no to a movie that has a Muse song in it's trailer?), the Burton remake of Charlie and the Chocolate factory (greatest tune in a trailer since The Wizzard of Oz), Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby and of course the Hitchhike,s Guide movie.

Morcheeba (the music band) makes the world happy.

Ihope this turns out good.

I don't know how to put those avatar-ish things in these journals so that's as much as I can do.

Also: I boought the book The Corporation, witch is probably one of the most traumatising readings ever because, unlike Michael Moore, Joel Baken isn't tweaking anything and he exposes facts and analises verry practically the corporative world and the impact it had/has/will have on modern society.

Extremely instructive and conscientising read.

Go see I Heart Huckabees too. Awesome movie, awesome soundtrack, awesome actors, just plain great. It's the kind of movie that stays in your head a long time and the more you think about it the more you appreciate it, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (witch is undoubtfully this year's best movie). 9.5/10

New art should be coming soon, amongst others: Two anatomy assigments, one creativiy assigment and some perspective works in progress.

On an unrelated note, I got myself a new capo witch fis on my acoustic/electric guitar and a slide witch won't break two days after purchase, so I'm playing ELO/Radiohead/Led Zep like crazy.
You know you want THIS [link]
Finally: NEW THE DEARS CD IS OUT IN CANADA! GO BUY IT NOW!

Okay, so the last two pieces (Chambre) were drawn for perspective class where we had to draw a perfectly normal room with a perfectly not normal something happening in it. I chose to draw that scener with the baby walking on the roof from Trainspotting.

Bad idea.

You see, in this particular room all furnitures are stuck on the back wall. that means drawing volumes is hell because it's all so compressed due to perspective...

ANYWAY, I finished it!

Movies:

Natural Born Killers:
Written by Tarantino, directed by Oliver Stone, this movie is just a verry verry fun visual trip and strikes with it's way to show us how obsessed with violence we have slowly become. the only flaw is that it COULD have been better if Tarantino actually directed it, but I guess he was too busy with Reservoir Dogs or something. It still is verry verry good anyway.
8.5/10

The Man Who Wasn't There
I'm personally a big Coen bros. fan, but I just couldn't help being distracted by many other things while watching this movie. It's in black and white, it's slow, not much happens, and God damnit will it never end? The story is actually pretty good but there's just someting begging for a Homer Simpson wannabe to scream "Boring!"
6.5/10

Brother
Now we are talking. I am slowly becoming a Takeshi whore. Zatoichi was awesome, now I wanted to see his take on the Yakuza universe.
I wasn't disapointed. The movie still has that oriental way of making everything fast and clean. No endless gunfights, no bland dialogues, pure Yakuza flick action. The ending is okay but I would have expected a more interesting twist. Altough the whole "inevitability" of it is a solid part of what makes this movie raise above the average.
9/10

The Crow
God I wish so much this movie ws made by a different director who knew how to avoid crappy clichés! There's so much potential there, but it just screams early nineties wanabe cool. Some scenes are aweful, like once the main character plays a guitar he stole on the fucking roof of his house with an amp he got out of nowhere with a sunset behind him. Another minus are the bad guys (the bunch he must kill in the first part of the movie, the two "bosses" are okay, I guess) who are living stereotypes and act exactly the same way the "X-tremes" guys from Harold & Kumar do, and that doesn,t make for some verry good villains. the movie does show some potential and some scene are realy cool too, but there's always something cliché to ruin it right afterward.
5/10

Y tu mama tambien
I loved almost every South-American/Mexican movie I've seen yet. This one follows the rule. Gael Garcia Bernal is really good as always, and the others are as good as him so no one steals the screen. Altough it has some verry explicit scenes, it's a beautiful film. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes really sad, it has it all. Just rent the damn thing if you don,t get offended and want to hide under your bed each time you see boobies or a cock.
9/10

Igby Goes Down
Another beautiful movie. Not much to say exept it is verry good. Igby is a great character, played by a verry talented guy. I really really loved the "you roll your joints like a vegetarian" scene. Another good rent.
8/10

Kitchen Stories
A nice sweddish or norwegian film about personal relations and friendship. It's cute, well done and if it hasn't the most original subject, it treats it in a verry original way.
7,5/10

Team America World Police
SEE IT! NOW!
10/10

Finally finished updating, I swear that whole submission process is going to kill me.

Anyway, most of this is school work and assignments. Only two big things left and I'll be done with the works for the "relance" week.

On the personal side, life's okay, I did my share of socil interaction for the week Saturday by going to a party, getting really drunk and talking to everyone. So now I just rented six good movies and a videogame: Takeshi Kitano's "Brother", Oliver Stone's Tarantino written "Natural Born Killers", Coen Bros. "The Man Who Wasn't There", "the Crow", "Y tu mama tambien" and Spielberg's "Schindler's List".

I'll talk about these when I'll have seen them all.

The game is Tales Of Symphonia (GC), it is probably the most solid RPG out since, I dunno, FFX?

Oh yeah, my friend dropped me for the Beasties, and Green Day is still to be confirmed...

Also: I can't wait for Team America World Police!
Anyway, more pictures are coming but Devart is currently a hatred-filled bitch and won't let me upload, so I guess the rest will come, like, later today or tomorow...

But now I'm happy, cause I've been listening to Modest Mouse, (early) Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, Blur, Royksopp and the likes for a while, and you can only be happy when you listen to these bands...

I'm planning to do something kindof good with this gallery, so hold on to your computer chair, cause, well, I dunno, you'd like it.

Here's the topo: Page preview 2 is the most explicit piece I'll ever post here, and I seriously think I should do a page three so that people would get that the planned comic is NOT about hot lesbians having sex but about a hot jewish lesbian (Myriam, the red-haired one) who's going on a spiritual trip trough a ravaged Israël with her lover (Katherine, the blond girl) and her best friend (Simon, yet to come) in order to find why her parents were killed in a terrorist act in Montreal.

All I gotta say is that what she'll discover there will change how she sees the world for the rest of her life.

It will be verry hard, somewhat disturbing and pretty fucking dramatic. But I always loved impulsive annd adrenaline-filled dramas like Requiem For a Dream or Trainspotting or Fargo anyways. I just hope my comic will be able to hold these comparisons.

And you'll be the judge.

"Ha! Forty-two, do you know just how close you fucking were?"
