WANT A COMMISSION?

Here’s what you need to know:

**************************
TERMS OF AGREEMENT:

1) ABSOLUTELY NO redistribution, reproduction, or use of commissioned work for personal profit *HOWEVER if you do want to commission me to do something that you can use to sell or publish (such as a book illustration), please let me know in your note. Keep in mind that this will increase the price.
2) The artwork is for personal use only.
3) My signature and/or watermark will be on the final piece, though this won’t interfere or affect the artwork.
4) Payment is in USD (U.S. American Dollars) and PayPal is the [STRONGLY] preferred method of payment.
5) I reserve the right to refuse any commission, and I also reserve the right not to tell you why. This probably won’t happen much, but you never knowÂ

**************************
PRICING:

+ Sketch = $5

+ Lineart = $10

+ Colored
:: Head-shot = $15
:: Waist-up = $25
:: Full-body = $35

+ Extras = +$15 for additional character / little critters / etc

+ Background +

:: Price here is negotiable and depends on difficulty.

**************************
+ Payment options and Request Form +

PayPal only. Pay first to get included in list of commissions.

Contacting me:

1) Send me a note with the title: COMMISSION. In the note, send me the following info. If you don’t, your request may get lost or overlooked.

- Your name and e-mail.

- Character(s), specifications, poses, backgrounds, action, all that good stuff. Let me know what you want me to draw.

- Head-shot, Waist-up, Full-body

- Reference material/screenshots/model (ESPECIALLY for original characters. This can also include material that you want included in backgrounds, clothes, or anything of the like). NOTE! If your commission requires reference materials, YOU MUST INCLUDE IT IN YOUR REQUEST! I won’t commit to a commission until I see exactly who/what I’m drawing.

- If it’s alright for me to publish your piece in my deviantArt gallery. Please keep in mind that this is my work and I won’t post it in my gallery if you don’t want to but I do reserve the right to use your commission in my portfolio if I choose to.

2) After receiving your order, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can with any questions I might have. After that, we’ll work out the details and exchange payment information.

3) As soon as I can, I’ll send you a rough sketch of your commission. If you like it, then the first half of the price we settled on will be due. If drastic changes are needed and I need to do a second sketch, there’ll be a $10 fee.

4) Once it’s done, I’ll send you a small version of the finished art with a BIG watermark on it (sorry, trying to weed out the deadbeats). If you like it, the rest of the payment’s due and then I’ll send a high-res JPG file to you. I can also send you a PSD file, but keep in mind that layers will be flattened here.

**************************
*IMPORTANT! If you have a deadline that you’d like a commission by, you should contact me AT LEAST a month before. If that doesn’t work, let me know and we may be able to work something out.

** If you have something more complicated in mind (such as mixing waist-up and full-body shots, action scenes, or group shots) please let me know initially and we’ll work a special price out.

***Unless you tell me specifically what you want; the layout, poses, and overall composition and mood of the piece is entirely up to me.

**************************
Thanks to for helping me write this out.
Few questions on the new Avatar eps.

1.) Anyone noticed Aang has the triangular school/fire nation insignia on his headband upside down? Wonder if it's significant...

2.) Did Iroh become buff and Sokka become a swordmaster in what...a day? or two?

3.) Was Sokka's sword (albeit cool because of the black blade) weird? For a primarily Asian-influenced cartoon, the sword design was European. Maybe it's just me watching too much Discovery Channel, but that kind of sword (flat broadsword) doesn't really do much cutting and slicing (which is deadlier) against opponents. All it actually does is KNOCK YOUR OPPONENT SENSELESS.

4.) If there's an actual Painted Lady, I'm wondering if there's an actual Blue Spirit. Or is the Blue Spirit "dead" because of the Lake Laogai episode?

Anything else?

Oh, yeah. Regarding the Retro Avatar Pinup Girls...Toph won't be included.

For obvious reasons.

The Players of this "game" starts with the topic:

"6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself"

and people who get tagged MUST write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things/hates as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours..."

AND....here....are....MINE:

1: I memorize poems I love. i.e."The Raven","Our Greatest Fear", "The Tiger", and "The Road Not Taken".

2: Driving is therapeutic for me. Driving calms me down. Like, when I'm stressed, I get in my car and take a long drive down Antipolo (mountainous region near my home area)

3: I'm not ticklish. Fact is, I don't have a tickle. Period.

4: I count myself VERY lucky that I have 4 best girl friends who couldn't be closer to me even if we were actually blood sisters. We've been bestfriends for around 10 years and counting.

5: Because I hate wrong spellings and wrong grammar....I automatically correct the spelling and grammar of road signs, billboards, posters, classmates' essays, conversations, blogs, magazines...ANYTHING if it has anything wrong with spelling and grammar.

6: My hands are interesting. I am abidextrous...and I have a fused heart and head line (otherwise known as the Simian Line) on BOTH hands. Noted others who have the same palms...Adolf Hitler and Ferdinand Marcos (both notorious dictators. think what you want about that tidbit)

==
So....I tag....      and

:: Depends. If I don't feel the character type, I won't draw it. I'm not much for some types of furries (i.e. sonic the hedgehog), hentai, and slash/yaoi/yuri.

3.) Fanart then?

:: Fanart is way better. And it would help if you gave me reference images and such of the character.

===

:: Once you request an artwork and I do it, I will still retain rights to it.

*You know you're SERIOUSLY addicted to Avatar when...*

and Zuko...sounds....weird.....happy. but weird.

===

Broadcasted somewhere...and someone was kind enough to transcribe it...

*you know you're addicted to Avatar when...*

It opens up with Zuko waking up and walking into a kitchen in his and Iroh's new apartment and Iroh is seen cooking something called 'Dook?' I don't know it was kinda muffled. Iroh then says to Zuko 'You probably wouldn't like it' and then Zuko walks over and smells it and says it's delicious and would like to have a bowl. Then Iroh makes note about his fever and how he has changed. Then Zuko says in a kind of chipper voice: "It's a new day. New apartment, new furniture, and today's the grand opening of your new tea shop. Things are looking up, Uncle." Then Iroh gives him smile.

Then it cuts to Appa flying in and landing a short distance away from where the Water Tribe camp. And then Aang says 'You haven't seen your dad in over two years. You must be so excited.' Then the camera zooms out to show Sokka nearly throwing up. Then Sokka says "I know I should be but I just feel sick to my stomach." Aang rubs his back and says, "Don't be nervous, he'll be so happy to see you." Sokka smiles and says "So what about you? Are you nervous to meet this Guru?" Aang says "Not at all. I'm ready to master the Avatar State. I'll do whatever it takes." Then Sokka gets off Appa and Aang says that he'll see Sokka in a week and takes off.

Sokka takes in a deep breath and walks into the camp. The Warriors watch him come in. Then one guy goes up to him and does like this special Water Tribe hand shake and everybody welcomes him and say it's good to see him. Then they clear a path for him to a tent and he walks over to it. He enters and there we see more Warriors gathered around a map and Hakoda is seen looking down at it and Bato was the first to see Sokka. He nudges Hakoda (You can see his scars really good.) and Hakoda looks up and is shocked at first but then he puts on a warm smile and says his son's name. Sokka then says "Hi, Dad." His dad gets up and walks over to him and then give each other a warm hug. Sokka smiles. *cries*

that's it. hmmmm.....*rubs chin*

Tv.com's synopsis for upcoming episodes. And tv.com has somewhat more reliable info than wikipedia or imdb...
The Guru: "Aang receives guidance from Guru Pathik at the Eastern Air Temple; Sokka is reunited with his long-lost father; Princess Azula has something diabolical in store for her enemies; Uncle and Zuko run their own tea shop."

The Crossroads of Destiny: "The heroes work together to stop Azula's destructive plans; Zuko finds companionship in an unlikely source and learns the time has come to make an imperative choice about his future."

And Mark and Bryan have stated that "Zuko and Katara are trapped in a cave together" at the season finale. But the interaction won't be romantic. Well, DUH! They've barely met and last time they did, they were killing each other. But, still...

---
A message posted on my site that should be filed under "Why I'll Never Eat McDonald's Food Again" Stories:

I used to work in a funeral home, and one night I was down in the morgue when I was summoned to the crematorium. When I got there I saw the embalmer standing in the door of the crematorium holding a fire extinguisher. As soon as he saw me, he told me to run back downstairs and grab some sheets or hospital gowns. So as I'm heading downstairs I feel strangely hungry, which is not a feeling you usually get working in a funeral home. I grab a stack of hospital gowns and run back to the crematorium.

What happened was that this morbidly obese gentleman was so big that his fat was melting off faster than the machine could burn it up. Having worked in a funeral home for a while, I have smelled some hellacious things and I know it helps not to pay attention to what I am smelling. But this actually smelled...familiar, and slightly appetizing. As I was walking out of the crematorium, I realized exactly what it smelled like: all that melted human fat smelled exactly like the inside of a McDonald's.

---
And that's exactly why I never eat anything at McDonald's except for the occasional fries and hashbrowns.

Man! I ordered Kabuki Reflections #6 from Comic Quest Megamall last week. Had to call CQ in Alabang just to deliver the last copy to megamall. Paid P320 for it.

Damn, it's pretty disappointing. Not much Kabuki art. Just David Mack's paintings and stuff. His how-to paint in his unique style. Oh, well. I'm a collector, and I collect. Haha.

[Edited from a short story from one of my favorite writers, Roald Dahl. Italics my own thoughts.]

Here are some of the qualities you should possess or should try to further acquire if you wish to become a visual artist:

1.) You should have a lively imagination.

2.) You should be able to draw well. By that I mean you should be able to make a scene come alive on paper. Not everybody has this ability. It is a gift, and you either have it or you don't.

3.) You must have stamina. In other words, you must be able to stick to what you are doing and never give up, for hour after hour, day after day, week after week, and month after month.

4.) You must be a perfectionist. That means you must never be satisfied with what you have drawn until you have revised it again and again, making it as good as you possibly can.

5.) You must have strong self-discipline. You are working alone. No one is employing you. No one is around to fire you if you don't turn up for work, or to tick you off if you start slacking.

* for animators especially*
6.) It helps a lot if you have a keen sense of humor. This is not essential when drawing realistic or "serious" art, but for children's books and cartoons, it's vital.

7.) You must have a degree of humility. The artist who thinks that his work is marvelous is heading for trouble. [A degree of humility. Meaning you must also be confident in your own skills.]

Most of us are artists here. Some professionals, and some beginners.
We have different tastes and we get inspired by other people's works.

Since I'm curious, I'd like you guys to answer these questions...

RULES:

A) My top 10 ART Influence List

List top 10 artists, animated films, or art genres (if you can't give any specific artist) that DIRECTLY influenced your art. These are the ones that are evident in your current style.

For each entry, you have to state specifically why you liked his/her/it's art, or what you liked about it. I'm talking about purely aesthetics here.

Answers like "I like this artist because he's health conscious..." or "Because he's want to save all the wildlife in the world..." are not qualified answers.

And since I'd like to know more about your influences, you could post a link beside the, entry, especially if it's unfamiliar to me.

(if you have really have to add more entries, it's up to you...)

B) The Top 10 that I Really Admire

Name top 10 Artists whose art and style you REALLY ADMIRE, but did not exactly influence you current art style. I'm still talking about the aesthetics.

c) The Top 10 Image IMPACT

Name the top 10 art that gave you the visual punch. Big time.
The "I can't forget it because it so kick ass until now...."
Or the "I wish I did that" art.

It could be a comic, an animated movie, a picture, or a piece of art.
You could give a description of you don't have a link to the image.

Those are the rules. Think it over.
It doesn't have to be in order.

~~~
Here I Go:
A) My top 10 ART Influence List
1.) David Mack - particularly, Metamorphosis:
- he's a freaking genius. a Renaissance man. he can do ANYTHING. name it, b&w lineart, hyper realism, abstract, he can emulate just about any artist, he writes/paints/layouts EVERY graphic novel he's done....and he's HANDSOME to boot.
- metamorphis. FINE art at it's best. a treat for the eyes and the mind. brain food as well as creative inspiration.
2.) Lady Lovely Locks
- if you've watched this 80's cartoon, you'll see where i get my style of drawing hair. gorgeous, flowing, colorful hair. and with little squirrels, bunnies and birds in them, too. i loved the purple horse, too.
3.) them 80's cartoons - care bears, my little pony, gummie bears
- was heavily influenced with my 2D animation with these. the squash, stretch, exaggeration and other animation principles. also rounded, cute character designs. you can't learn shit from anime-style limited animation, albeit they have killer layouts.
4.) the last unicorn - movie and book
- again, the flowing quality of the characters. and lady amalthea's character partially influenced my character designs. the graceful, fragile, border-line anorexic look.
5.) Stephanie Pui-Mun Law
- freaking excellent watercolorist. watercolor control at it's finest. Soft pastel colors and clean pencil lines. Fantastical creatures and fantasy worlds and ideas all realized beautifully onto paper.
6.) Blind Beauty - by
- yes, one of my influences. i learned that 3D stop motion characters CAN be animated without the hassles of ball joints. also, creative storytelling.
7.) Brian Vallesteros
- yeps. si Daddy  check out his gallery and see just WHY. this guy is a massive, MASSIVE creative idea vault. i can't imagine a limit to his ideas.
8.) Sailormoon manga
- soft, clean, romantic lines. you can practically FEEL the mushy-mushy romance in the storytelling.
9.) Tim Burton
- while TNBC is THE most excellent stop-motion animated flick EVER...recently it has gained mainstream following from goth wannabes.
The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy rules. I've balanced out my color tripping by the black and white simplicity and morbidity of this guy's artworks.
10.) Art Nouveau
- gorgeous layouts in a confined space. flowing hair, soft, earthy colors, simple lineart, maximized use of thick black outline... beautiful!
